The SpaceRemodeled in the early 2000's. House was situated street side & moved to backyard to allow construction of new home. Outside patio lights & fountain add ambiance...you won't believe the privacy, yet so close to the heart of Lake Oswego. There are 2 portable A/C units, NOT central A/C. **Kitchen: small fridge, microwave and Keurig coffee/tea, new 20" range/oven, toaster oven, washer/dryer. Adorable! Wi-fi, 2 TV's with cable & DVD, shampoo & conditioner, snacks and drinks. Nicely decorated with a few favorite things from Anthroplogie, West Elm, Restoration Hardware, Wisteria...cheerful & comfortable. **The bedrooms are upstairs, the bathroom is downstairs - see pictures Guest AccessGuests have a private entrance through a side gate & use of beautiful outdoor space and BBQ. Interaction with GuestsI would love to interact and be helpful or I can just let you have your privacy. The NeighborhoodYou will love the uniqueness and charm of "First Addition." Very safe, mostly quiet:-) and plenty of street parking. Close to Lewis & Clark College and Law School, many hospitals, downtown Portland - about 7 miles up Hwy 43. The walk score is 95! The immediate neighborhood is mostly residential, but a few commercial places too..including Kyra's (Gluten free) bakeshop open right across the street! Blocks from 10+ restaurants and groceries. Barre 3 studio (pilates/ballet) & Spincycle, bars with live music too. The city itself has an amazing art collection....pieces on most corners, fun to explore those. I hope you can tell it's a vibrant little village. Getting AroundThere is a bus line stop at the Safeway, 1.5 blocks away. You can walk to shops, restaurants, frozen yogurt, farmers market, library, banks, post office, Tryon Creek trails, Safeway, 7-11, & the lake itself! All within 6 blocks. The Tryon creek trail walk/run is stunning...right out of Twilight series. I can give you great directions to trail head. Other Things to NoteYou will hear a little 'city' noise, but yard is very private, you won't see into other backyards. Trash pickup is a little noisy on Friday mornings & gardeners work on Friday am at 8 for about 30 minutes....& it always looks so pretty! (I want your expectations to be the reality).

The SpaceIf you're considering visiting the portland area or specifically Lake Oswego our home may be the right fit. Whether you are coming for work or to pay a visit to friends or family, we are in a lovely part of town. * Work? We are a short drive to all the Lake Oswego office parks and conferences as well as downtown l.o.. * Tourist? There is lots to do close by in the form of trails and parks, the lake, restaurants and shopping. * Visitor? If you are coming to visit any of the local schools or are thinking of relocating- we are a very short drive to Marylhurst University, Lewis and Clark, and of course all the Lake Oswego school district as well. CONVENIENT- we are on a safe, quiet cul-de-sac walking distance to one of the best local high end supermarkets (great deli and hot food section), pizza, thai food, dry cleaners and gas stations. we are also very close to 43/state st/ willamette dr which will take you directly to downtown portland or west linn, and also the 205 which will take you directly to wilsonville, etc...depending on your destination. THE ROOM- * Very comfortable double bed and simply but nicely furnished room with closet. Lots of light, private windows, and wood floors. * Side door entrance leading to kitchenette (a functional and funky/imperfect/vintage space) sink, counter space, toaster oven, mini fridge/freezer, microwave), and table for two. Laundry for your use while here. * Semi-private 3/4 bath not far from bedroom (we barely use it). * Coffee and tea provided. Occasionally baked goodies or treats of some kind as well. THINGS OF NOTE- * We are up between 6:30-7am so you may hear us although we'll be considerate if you are still sleeping. * Furnace is in kitchenette/laundry and makes white noise kicking on and off (in case you are very noise sensitive). * No smoking or smokers (only due to smell). * Please be considerate after 7pm as my child (school age) is asleep. * We have a very friendly and mellow (but sometimes chatty and intimidating) German Shepherd who will not be in your space as long as you don't allow her in. She is sweet and safe to be around. Also, I keep our entire home clean of her hair and there is little dog smell. However, if you're highly allergic or don't like dogs it may not work for you. * Our laundry is in your kitchenette area but I try and do laundry only when you are out so as not to disturb you. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO WRITE WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS YOU MAY HAVE! Guest AccessThe kitchenette, bedroom, and bathroom are for you to enjoy, and weather permitting- the front porch and back yard are as well. If you feel like socializing and I am around, feel free to come join me in the house! Interaction with GuestsMy son and I are pretty social, unless we are trying to get ready for school or bed. Otherwise, we love company. If you just have a question or need help with something, I am happy to oblige. And if you're private and just want to come and go quietly, that's ok too! The NeighborhoodWe are close to so much! Besides a few minute drive into downtown L.O., we have Thai food, pizza, dry cleaners, Starbucks, and a great supermarket (including great ready made foods) all within two blocks from us, although you'd never guess because it's so quiet here. Getting AroundThere is a bus that runs just down the street from us, but other than getting you closer to downtown L.O. and maybe the Lake Grove part of town, it's not very user friendly. There is Uber and Lyft to get you around now- great news! Otherwise, you really need a car if you're here for long. Other Things to NoteAs I said earlier, our dog is very protective and chatty- but do not let her intimidate you! If you come through the house to use the bathroom or hang out with us, and she does this, just chat with her and pet her through the stress of a new guest and she will love the attention. She may follow you around, so if you don't want her in your space just close the door behind you :)

The SpaceWe have four children—preschool & elementary-aged. Hence we are very set up for kids of all ages. Our home is a mid-century modern ranch, so is primarily all level, so really usable for every generation. Our house is nice, but also not so pristine and perfect you would not feel comfortable bringing your family. It's rustic charm and distressed-look allows it to be lived in and loved without breaking a vase. This whimsical cabin has a separated but very functional layout. We have 5 bedrooms set up in really three different areas of the house (the master area, the artist loft, and the kid hall). So you could easily have two families in this home, even three families if you were creative and a tad adventurous. Guest AccessGuests can make themselves comfortable. The closets are not empty/bare (in fact, we ask you keep closets private). We will have the refrigerator and pantry in kitchen clean. Interaction with GuestsWe will give you complete privacy unless you need something or we work something out with you. The NeighborhoodLake Oswego was rated #2 city in American to raise a family by Better Homes and Garden in 2013. Lake Oswego is an affluent suburban of Portland—a cozy yet sophisticated community with beautiful parks and waterfront, art and culture, as well as fabulous restaurants, shopping, and farmer's markets. Getting AroundWe have lots of private parking, but there is also a bus stop for the Portland Pubic transit behind our house. It costs $2.50 and takes about 20-25 minutes to get to downtown Portland on the city bus. Also possible to walk/bike to downtown Lake Oswego. We are 1/2 mile slightly adventurous walk to the Williamette river (not hard, just not easy sidewalk/path the whole way there). Other Things to NoteSpecifics on beds and baths: We have 10+ beds & 3 full baths (2 with tubs, 1 standing shower) —King in Master (sleeps 2) —Queen in Loft (sleeps 2) —Twin Bunk (1) + Queen Futon (sleeps 2) in Kid Room 1 (3 total in this room) —Two Twin Beds (2) & Full-Size Futon (1-2) in Kid Room 2 (3-4 total in this room) —Twin Bed (1) + Twin Trundle Bed Pullout (1) in Kid Room 3 (2 total in this room) We also have a queen blow up bed and two twin folding sleeping mats (quite thick and comfortable). We have a hot tub, fenced yard, two playgrounds (one preschool-aged playground and one elementary-plus-aged playground), and a playhouse. We have two fireplaces and a wood stove to use, for the cabin feel. We also have ample free parking. We currently have a changing pad, portable crib, two clip-on high chairs, bumbo, strollers, upon request. We have lots of toys for all ages, games, and movies.

The SpaceThe first thing we want you to read is sort of NOT about the space; it is that we welcome all to our home and we are horrified at the increase in bigotry in our country. You are safe with us. Ok, the actual space stuff: Your bedroom (with a queen-sized bed) and bathroom are pretty standard sizes, neither huge nor too small, but the spacious living room (close-off-able from the rest of the house) can be all yours during your stay. During the drier months, the garden in back is a secluded and peaceful retreat, with a waterfall feature and a place to dine alfresco or just lounge. Your bathroom has heated floors, and we have big fluffy terry robes for you to use, since we think that's a nice thing to have while traveling, but such a pain in the neck to pack. We keep the cats out of the bedroom in case of guests with allergies, but in our opinion, ambient cat hair is a fact of life in any house with cats so please do take that into consideration if you are allergic. It's worth mentioning here, the first place you're reading about us, that our 8:00 am - 7:00 pm checkin window is important to us; it's not inflexible, and we can accommodate other arrival times (and departure times later than 12:00). But if you have to arrive in the middle of the night, please let us know when you first contact us. Thanks! Guest AccessWe'll provide coffee and tea in the morning, and we have farmers market eggs, tortillas, english muffins, etc around for you too. Please let us know if you have special dietary requirements, and we'll do our best to provide them. And you are welcome to put a thing or two into our frig, but no major meal-cooking please. The living room is all yours during your stay, and most of the fiction section lives in there too. You're welcome to use our washer and dryer. We don't have a TV set available for guest use, so you need to be ok with what you can stream via our wifi or however else you access movies or TV. Total of 21 stairs counting outside and the ones up to your room. There is always plenty of room on our street for parking. Interaction with GuestsLaura's gregarious but works all day; Preston's trying to be less gregarious because he's writing a book. We understand that some people would rather just use their Airbnb as a pied-a-terre and operate on their own, and if that's you, that's fine! One cat would probably hide under our bed the whole of your visit; the other would try to make friends with you. It's EXTREMELY important to us that guests understand the importance of keeping cats inside, to us, and are careful not to leave doors open or otherwise risk letting the cats out. Cars and coyotes mean short life spans for outside cats in our neighborhood. The NeighborhoodWe love our quiet street, but for amusing ourselves, we drive the 20 - 25 minutes to Portland, for great theater, music, restaurants and food carts, Forest Park, etc. We have guidebooks and love to introduce people to our part of the world. West Linn has a few okay restaurants and one good grocery store; there is also a 24 hour grocery store at the foot of our hill, .8 mi away. One large street, Highway 43, which changes its name often, runs all the way into Portland. Marylhurst University and Mary's Woods are maybe 2 - 3 minutes away via car; Lewis & Clark, about 10; Portland, 20 to 25 depending on what part of the city you are going to. Getting AroundPlenty of free street parking. We are a 2 minute drive, or even a nice walk, from Marylhurst and Mary's Woods. We are about 1.75 hours from the beach, 1.5 from Mt Hood, 1.25 from the Columbia Gorge. Please don't park in our driveway - when that happens, we can't get our cars out if they are in, or in if we are out. Other Things to NoteWe have loved being Airbnb guests for a few years now and are really enjoying being hosts, too. We don't have any TV sets available for guest use, though friends watch stuff on their laptops/tablets and don't seem to mind; there are 14 stairs leading to the front door from the street, and 7 stairs leading up to the level with your room and bathroom. We are very happy to host adults and teens, but this is not a great set-up, from our point of view, for small children (the cats hide from little ones, and the elderly one needs meds and regular food).

Lake Oswego is a charming upscale city in Clackamas County Oregon. 20 minute drive to downtown Portland, Oregon. We moved here because of the excellent schools, the beautiful treed area and the canals around the Lake that are so beautiful. My husband grew up in Lake Oswego and after the birth of our last child we moved back- nineteen years ago. We fell in love with our home because of the unique old growth Cedar Siding outside, hardwood floors inside and Cedar paneling inside. The warmth of this house is European like. Built in 1955-it is solid and secure. The Sauna was an added bonus and the large lot of 10,000 sq. feet it sits on surrounded by trees. We feel like we live in a park. There are a lot of birds around Lake Oswego because of the lake and Willamette River is also walking distance away. Guest AccessOur home sits on over a half acre lot and is very private. You will have access to the entire property! Please help yourself to the garden in the front yard if you arrive and find veggies to your liking. Other Things to NoteGuests with pet allergies should note that we have a dog and a cat. The dog will not be here during your stay, but our friendly kitty, LeBron, will remain. Therefore, guests will be asked to feed him daily (anytime) and let him inside and outside when you see him by the door. There is no cat odor and no need to deal with kitty litter. He is very low maintenance and will not sleep with you, but he will enjoy being in the same room as you if you are reading on the couch. It MAY be possible for us to take him with us, so please inquire if interested in this option. For those of you renting our home during the holidays, please note that while our kitchen is great for entertaining, we do have just one oven. We use our BBQ, which you are welcome to use, for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals.

The SpaceThe first thing we want to say here is actually not about the space, it's about us. We welcome all to our home; we are horrified at the increase in bigotry in our country. We applaud Airbnb's anti-bigotry policies and we want you to know that you are welcome and safe here, whoever you are. Ok, the actual space description: The first guest room (Room 1) and the shared bathroom are one level up from the main level of the house, and the additional bedroom is up one more from those rooms. Room 1 is an average-sized room with a real and queen-sized bed, and a bay window overlooking our quiet street. The pictures capture it well, except of course that they make the room look larger than it is. We call Room 2 call the L-shaped room, for obvious reasons. It too has a queen sized real bed. It's larger than Room 1 and looks out onto our green haven of a patio, and if you'd like to run the waterfall in the evening for the sound of plashing water coming in through the window, please do! Room 2 has a large dresser and a closet whereas Room 1 only has a closet, and Room 2 has an easy chair and footstool, and two desks, for when you need a place to study or work. Both rooms come with water carafes and home-made cookies, and safe little space heaters in case you like your room seriously warm. Your bathroom has heated floors, and we have big fluffy terry robes for you to use, since we think that's a nice thing to have while traveling, but such a pain in the neck to pack. We keep the cats out of the bedrooms in case of guests with allergies, but in our opinion, ambient cat hair is a fact of life in any house with cats so please do take that into consideration if you are allergic. It's EXTREMELY important to us that guests understand the importance of keeping cats inside, to us, and are careful not to leave doors open or otherwise risk letting the cats out. Cars and coyotes mean short life spans for outside cats in our neighborhood. Thanks! Guest AccessOccupants of these rooms would need to share the guest bath next to Room 1. That's why we think it's ideal for people traveling with friends or with kids. You are welcome to make breakfast in our kitchen and we'd love it if you'd share a glass of wine with us in the evening; no major meal cooking, please, but we'll cheerfully make some room in our frig for your restaurant leftovers -- and in our restaurant mecca of a city, you will have them! You can use our washer and dryer, of course. Interaction with GuestsWe're gregarious and friendly, but if you'd rather keep to yourselves and focus on your own travel, we get it! We have lots of useful guidebooky things to give you ideas for exploring our part of the world. On kids: our choices were 'ages 2 - 18 ok or not ok' and what we really think is that children old enough to understand that they need to leave the cats alone are perfectly ok. (Our elderly cat, Roger, needs meds and frequent food, and small children send him under the bed for the duration - not good!) The NeighborhoodWest Linn is a nice suburb of Portland, handy to Lewis & Clark, very near Marylhurst and Mary's Woods; mere minutes to Lake Oswego and Oregon City. It's quiet and pleasant, and if your business or family takes you near this part of the greater Portland area, we think you'll like it! For entertainment, Portland is much better and about 20 - 25 minutes away, depending on traffic. Getting AroundPlenty of free parking on the street; bus .8 miles away, but not a good walk - steep, no shoulders. We don't recommend our place if you are bus-dependent. Please don't park in our driveway - when that happens, we can't get our cars out if they are in, or in if we are out. Other Things to NoteIf you have special dietary needs (gluten-free? sugar-free?) let us know and we'll do our best to stock your favorite breakfast foods. We always have farmer's market eggs, tortillas, English muffins, yogurt, coffee, tea, half and half, etc.

The SpaceIn addition to the bedroom and bathroom, this space offers a kitchenette with a sink, microwave, and refrigerator as well as an dining area that seats four. If you'd rather stay in at night, enjoy the theater system with 109" screen in the living room. Guest AccessGuests have a separate entrance to the space through the garage. There is no shared spaces (outside of the garage entrance) to the main house. The NeighborhoodIt's a very walkable neighborhood with plenty of parking. If your stay allows for it, please do enjoy a walk to the store or park! Getting AroundThere are two bus stops about a half mile away, though downtown is about a mile away, so it's walkable. Other Things to NoteIf you're coming in town with a group, we have a queen air mattress (raised) that we can bring down.
