Situated right on the Salmon River, with high-speed internet and all the amenities, this is the perfect place to get away in comfort. Wake-up in the morning to the sound of the river, fire up the espresso machine and head to the mountain for some skiing, or grab a tube from the shed and float the river. Or maybe do some fly-fishing and throw them on the grill for dinner, or put them in the smoker for snacks. When the day is done, open a bottle of wine, grab a book from the bookshelf, and sit by the fireplace. Or make a fire in the outdoor fire pit and make smore's with friends. It's your adventure. With three bedrooms, 2 queen beds, 2 bunk beds, and a sofa bed out in the living, you can bring your friends and kids. A fully stocked kitchen with chef-grade equipment and a stack of board games will keep you in food and fun. And of course, don't forget your dog. The SpacePinery is a 1937 vintage cabin in Brightwood, Oregon that we adore...and we want to share it with others that crave a quiet mountain retreat along the Sandy River. Pinery sits on a 1/3 acre in the woods with a pretty trail to the Sandy River, just 15-20 minutes from skiing, numerous hiking trails and historic Timberline Lodge. Pinery is convenient to great restaurants, too. The cabin is just an hour from Portland, so it's the perfect retreat for skiing, hiking, playing golf, and for anyone looking for a quiet getaway in the woods! The 800 sq ft cabin has tons of vintage charm with all the comforts of home. It sleeps up to four (two bedroom lofts--twin and double beds--and a first floor bedroom with a queen bed.) It also has a huge stone fireplace and a modern kitchen with dining area. We have free wifi, hammocks, games, books, and a DVD screen (no TV or cable) with movies. Pinery is pet friendly for one well-behaved dog. It is not a good place for puppies that chew. Our place is special and quirky--lots of old open railings and a catwalk (!)--so it's not a good choice for children or those not confident of their footing on stairs, and there is absolutely no smoking allowed. Interaction with GuestsWe always greet our guests at the cabin to walk through the quirks of the place, but otherwise you have the place to yourselves.

The SpaceBeautiful, spectacularly decorated 1100 sf riverside cottage on one and a third acres in a heavily forested setting with wood-fired hot tub. Vaulted ceilings and skylights provide wonderful light with mahogany floors throughout. The great room has a pleasant warm glow from the propane stove and the entire place is replete with art and books. Less than twenty miles to the only year round skiing in the United States. Great hiking adventures abound! There are many restaurants, a shopping center, library, and liquor store nearby. The Rippling River golf course is two miles away in a spectacular setting. There is one partly visible neighboring house, many hundred foot trees and more than two hundred feet of river frontage. Autumn Lane is a gated road with access code. It is an exceptionally quiet place with a true plethora of inviting activities. The hot tub will be ready or nearly so upon arrival! We cannot allow dogs or cats since Corinne is extremely allergic to them. Autumn Lane has a 10 Mph speed limit. Guest AccessThe kitchen is equipped with all the appliances you would find at home. There are plenty of condiments in the refrigerator. There are board games-Scrabble, Life, Chess, Monopoly,Checkers, and jigsaw puzzles. The SpaceThe house is spacious, comfortable and relaxing. There is a full game closet with at least 25 games for adults and kids. With an unlimited amount of wood, the cozy fire from the fireplace is very relaxing after a day out on the mountain. The neighborhood is set amongst tall fir trees and a wonderful mix of older homes located just along the banks of the sandy river. The river is just a short walk 200' through the woods. Guest AccessThe house has a wonderful assortment of DVD's and for those older folks some classics on VHS. Multiple hook ups for smart devices to the surround sound system or flat screen monitor. WI FI is available. For those that prefer one can relax on their own couch (there's 4) and enjoy a book or magazine from the wide variety in the bookcase. Interaction with GuestsI am available via phone before your visit to offer advice on local activities and restaurant referrals. While at the house I am on call for house problems if any. You can pick up your key from an on site secured lock box and have an enjoyable stay. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood houses are all along the banks of the sandy river. There is a short walking trail up river that rolls along thru the woods. I often walk through the winding wooded roads that make up the neighborhood. Getting AroundThere is a bus that travels during the week day to sandy. There is also a bus that travels up to the mountain, Timberline Lodge for winter sports. The operating schedule is from approx. 8-4pm. Getting to the house is no problem during the winter. If one plans to travel up to the Mtn in winter then 4 wheel drive or chains are needed .

The SpaceThis is a two-story guest house, so the main house is on the same site. The top floor of the guest house is a master suite and the bottom floor is a gourmet kitchen/living area with a sleeper and full bath. The facility can comfortably host 4 guests and accommodations can be made to add more guests for a fee. Guest AccessWe recommend 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicles with traction devices in the winter months due to the possibility of snow and the steepness of the driveway. The road is plowed during snowy weather. The hot tub can be heated any time of the year and the pool is only heated in the summer months. Because of the hot tub, pool, and nearby creek, we do not allow toddlers. There is an indoor/outdoor gas fireplace. The barbecue grill and wood-burning fire table are available for guest use. Feel free to hike the property although you might want to borrow our dogs to ward off mountain lions and bears. This is a wilderness area. Interaction with GuestsThe hosts are available to the guest during their stay. Getting AroundPark in the circular drive next to the walkway.

The SpaceOur CHARMING CABIN is finished with natural wood both inside and outside. This TINY CABIN is big on EFFICIENCY and COZINESS. Vaulted ceilings give it a spaciousness. We are sure you will find this to be the best RUSTIC RETREAT ever. You can simply RELAX and ENJOY being in our cabin. We love our little cabin and are proud to share it with you. It is a sweet home base from which to access all the nature of the Mt. Hood area. INSIDE OUR CABIN: Cooling: AIR CONDITIONING in the cabin for hot summer. Heating: In the winter the cabin is usually kept warm enough with the free-standing OIL HEATER that is in the living room. Keeping it set at 5 or 6 does the trick. If you need extra or more rapid heat use the CENTRAL HEATING system. The thermostat is just above the pegs on the wall opposite the front door. Kitchen: We remodeled kitchen in May 2016. Gadgets include: 2 INDUCTION COOKTOP, small MICROWAVE OVEN, electric HOT WATER KETTLE, POTS and PANS, small TOASTER OVEN, wooden box under the bed has RICE COOKER, stove top PRESSURE COOKER, Cuisinart PANINI GRILL, AIR POPPER, . To make COFFEE there is a FRENCH PRESS, stove top ESPRESSO MAKER, and a DRIP FILTER. The under the counter REFRIGERATOR is equipped with an ice box that will make a tray of ice but is pretty wimpy when it comes to ice cream. Please do not adjust the setting as it will freeze all the fresh produce. Bedroom: There is A FULL SIZE BED and 3 TWIN BUNKS in the bedroom. There are sheets, pillows and comforters on each bed. The most delightful surprise to us has been how EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE these MATTRESSES are. We were skeptical of them at first and were pleasantly amazed that they are every bit as comfortable (even more so!) than our new cushy mattress. The FUTON in the living room is a queen size mattress with its bedding stored on the shelf above the bathroom door and the comforter is in the wooden box under the full size bed. Bathroom: Our bathroom is such a gem. There is a Japanese style BIDET TOILET SEAT that will spoil you. It has a warm water spray and air dryer. Everyone is so soothed with this. Then the SHOWER has a tankless, on demand water heater that provides wonderful warm water and delivers continually as long as you need it. A great thing to anticipate when returning from those exhilarating outdoor activities. Deck: The living area is expanded with the ample deck that my husband built a couple years ago. There is a PICNIC TABLE to use on those sunny days when you want to relax outside and eat while sipping a nice glass of wine. The views around are so lush. Guest AccessAs our guest, Mt. Hood Village offers indoor POOL, SAUNA, HOT TUB (Mo-Th/6:30am-8pm, Fr/6:30am-9pm, Sa/8am-9pm, Su/8am-8pm), playground, river walks, senior center, cafe/bakery (Call for hrs). Just 50 feet up our little street is a LAUNDROMAT and EXTRA SHOWER room (Open 24/7). All in all Mt. Hood Village is EXTREMELY FAMILY and KID FRIENDLY. Interaction with GuestsOur cabin is for you to enjoy. We respect your privacy and hope you will make yourselves at home. If you have any questions or concerns you may contact us by phone or email anytime. Also, our friends/neighbors (Linda and Howard) can assist you. Most of the neighbors are permanent residents so please be courteous and respectful of our neighbors during your stay, and please leave our home just as you found it. The SpaceCome relax and recreate at our beautiful riverside cabin. Forested charm with modern comfort. Covered deck. Indoor & outdoor stone fireplaces. Clawfoot soaking tub. Skiing, biking/hiking, fishing, golfing and great cuisine nearby. Welcome to our family's Mt. Hood cabin on the Sandy River. We look forward to sharing this beautiful cabin with you. We love the place as do our friends, family, and guests who have stayed with us so far! Please check out the reviews, and we think you'll see it really is a special place. But to tell you a little bit about the cabin, it has all the essentials a mountain cabin needs: a big river rock fireplace inside, a large covered deck that wraps around the cabin and outdoor fireplace, big French doors that join the living room and outdoors together (during warm weather, of course) and a big spacious upstairs shower, plus a relaxing clawfoot tub for soaking. Although it is a "cabin" our cabin combines ambience with convenience. The fireplace provides the cabin feel, but just turn up the furnace and you'll be warm in no time. The open kitchen has a gas range, an icemaker in the fridge, and a dishwasher. It is also well-stocked with amenities so you don't have to bring them. The cabin is nestled in the woods for privacy and has beautiful river or wooded views out all windows. The property abuts the river, but sits up on an upper terrace, providing a little margin of safety for kids. We hope you'll come be our guests and enjoy this beautiful wooded gem as much as we do! The entire cabin will be yours so you'll have it all at your disposal. So make yourself at home. And if any problems arise, we are just a phone call, text or e-mail away if. This is a quiet wooded riverside neighborhood of old and new cabins, not a gated community. It is very private and feels miles away. But follow the path up the river and you'll be at some great restaurants, a coffee shop and bars in just a short walk. It is about an hour's drive from Portland but in the middle of a myriad of recreation options. Skiing is 15 minutes away, 20 if you choose Timberline Lodge where you can ski year round on the Palmer Glacier, or 30 minutes to Mt. Hood Meadows. Fishing, hiking, and biking are just a few minutes away as is an 18-hole golf course. The cabin sleeps 12 based on 2 per bed in each of the four bedrooms and 4 in the bunks. We find that more than 8 adults can get crowded, with room for only 10 comfortably around the dining table. So we suggest limiting your party to 8 adults and 4 kids, although you are welcome to have 12 adults if you don't mind sleeping in bunk beds. They are very nice custom built bunk beds that can fit an average adult (our teenagers always sleep in the bunks instead of beds when they have friends over), but they are really intended for kids. Other Things to NoteAs a word of caution, the internet is slow. You can check e-mails and connect to the web, but downloading large files takes a long time and don't plan on streaming any movies or playing on-line games. Although we hope you'll be out hiking or skiing instead of surfing the web anyway:). We have a television with DVD/Blu-Ray player for watching movies, but it is not connected to television service. DVD rentals are available from a Red Box that is 5 minutes up the road at the grocery store.

Look no further for peace and quiet. This beautiful three bedroom vacation rental cabin sits on a secluded lot over a mile from the highway. And you'll love the amenities! The only sounds you'll hear as you relax in the hot tub on the wraparound deck are the babbling waters of Clear Creek running past, songbirds chirping, and rain dripping from the branches of the lush evergreens surrounding the house. It's very hard to believe that downtown Portland is just an hour away, and the conveniences of ZigZag (a few good restaurants and a full grocery store) can be reached within five minutes. With plenty of room for up to six guests, this charming vacation rental cabin offers a wonderful combination of rustic lodge decor and modern amenities. Settle in for a long conversation in the upstairs living room, with comfortable leather furnishings arranged before a wood-burning fireplace, or turn on the cable TV with DVD player for a very cozy movie marathon. The bright and cheery kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'll need to prepare hearty breakfasts, and the dishwasher makes clean-up easy. A downstairs den offers a separate space for guests to gather, complete with a table and chairs for board games, a casual bar, and a CD player. The second floor sunroom may be the best reading nook in the house, no matter what the weather is like outside. With expansive windows overlooking the pine trees, you'll feel as though you are communing with nature even when curled up on the wicker sofa, cupping a mug of hot chocolate and watching the rain fall. Just off the sunporch, the master bedroom feels like it belongs in Timberline Lodge, with plaid wallpaper, a log-frame queen bed, and more amazing forest views. The second bedroom has a queen-sized four-poster bed, and the last room has two twin-sized bunk beds that sleeps up to four very comfortably. Two full bathrooms each have walk-in showers. The best spot in this cozy vacation rental cabin, though, isn't actually in the house at all. The deck outside has a private hot tub nestled in a corner, where you can soothe your muscles after a long day of hiking or skiing, and enjoy some truly excellent stargazing. On sunny days, everyone can gather around the grill for a barbecue and dine at the deck's picnic table, even raising the umbrella for a bit of shade. A second wooden deck sits just beside the river, with another picnic table nestled among the trees. The house is located just over a mile from Highway 26 and the village of ZigZag. All the amenities you could need are within easy reach, yet the house itself feels like a world away from the cares of day-to-day life.
