The SpaceOur home is on the edge of Newberg in a modest neighborhood, but located on a property that includes one side of a ravine and a creek. We've been restoring that ravine to native Oregon plants and it is ringed with mature Douglas firs. We believe our home is a great place to relax and enjoy reading, conversing, and contemplation. During the winter and spring, 2016, our son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Philippa, will be your hosts while we are temporarily residing in North Carolina. Guest AccessYour bedroom is on the other side of the house from our main living area and bedrooms. For your convenience and sense of security, your bedroom has a keyed door lock. The guest bathroom is in the common area of the house. You may relax in the living room adjacent to your room or the common area TV room and dining room. You are welcome to use the kitchen, outdoor grill, and the laundry room. Other places to enjoy at our home are our many outdoor sitting areas--a small patio adjacent to the dining room, a deck off the living room, another deck overlooking our ravine, and a small bench for reading or relaxing down by the creek. Interaction with GuestsWe're a busy couple, so you don't have to worry about feeling any pressure to socialize with us! But we're happy to host you, answer your questions, and when we do cross paths, we’re happy to share tips for a good visit to the area. In the meantime, feel free to make yourself at home and come and go as you please. The NeighborhoodOur home is in the heart of wine country. There are scores of wineries in our area (we know--our son runs his own wine touring business) and some wine-tasting facilities right in Newberg. Our town is also home to an emerging dining scene. Our mile long road is just what your need, where you will only hear a tractor or occasional horse whinny. During the summer you can choose from a variety of berries and fresh vegetables to pick and enjoy. We also have a washer and dryer available to you located in the garage. We enjoy meeting and getting to know our guests, and stories about their homes and travels. Since the apartment is not located inside our house, there is quite a bit of privacy. Should you need anything, we are always available in the house, or by phone. Of course, our dog, Sadie is always here to Welcome You! She's a barker, but big baby too. The Space The Crick House Retreat is nestled in the daylight basement of our family home which sits on one third of an acre. After living in Newberg for thirty years and raising two wonderful sons, we no longer have the need of such a large home and have decided to offer it to those traveling to our part of the world. With over 800 SF you have a whole floor to yourself. The Crick House Retreat is accessible through it’s own private entrance. It also has a sliding door off of the main living area that leads out to the wonderful forested backyard and outside living spaces. Your home away from home consists of two bedrooms, each uniquely decorated. The larger bedroom with a more contemporary feel has a queen bed with a desk for a work space. The other bedroom has a shabby chic atmosphere with a full bed and dressing table that belonged to my husband’s Grandmother. On one wall hangs an original pioneer quilt that was started while my ancestors traveled west on the Oregon Trail. There is one bathroom that has a tile shower featuring a corrugated metal ceiling with distressed metal cabinets that gives it a fun industrial feel. We also supply all towels for your convenience. The kitchenette has a full size refrigerator with freezer, a microwave, hotplate, toaster oven, and coffee pot. The living room has all leather furniture and wool area rugs. The gas fireplace can be used as a focal point on cooler evenings or the wall mounted 46” flat screen TV with surround sound can be your center of attention when not out enjoying the wonderful scenery of the Yamhill valley and beyond. There is a shared laundry with laundry supplies provided. All cleaning supplies are provided as well as an optional cleaning service for an additional fee. There is an iron, ironing board and sewing machine available for your use. At the Crick House Retreat you do not have to worry about any additional costs. All household costs are covered. Even Wifi is provided! Lastly we are happy to offer off street parking for two cars. My husband and I live on the main floor with two dogs. Shelby and Indy are very used to the comings and goings of of people staying at The Crick House Retreat and enjoy meeting new guests as much as we do! After spending a large portion of our lives here in Newberg, we have watched as things have grown and changed and have become very knowledgeable about the area, its wineries and tourism. We very much enjoy sharing our beautiful area of Oregon with people visiting here. And of course the name “Crick House Retreat” comes from the year round creek that flows through the lower part of the property. The creek and the property, although located in the City of Newberg, has an abundance of birds, small wildlife, beaver, deer and an occasional river otter swimming up the creek searching for frogs and small fish. All this and you can walk into Newberg in just a few minutes and enjoy shopping, food and of course wine tasting. The Crick House Retreat is also situated close to George Fox University, a twenty five minute drive to McMinnville, Oregon and Linfield College. Outside of Yamhill County it is a forty minute drive to downtown Portland, or going the other direction an hour and fifteen minutes to Lincoln City and the Oregon Coast. There are wonderful hiking trails all around the area, state parks and of course Mt Hood which is two hours away. We very much enjoy meeting people and sharing our beautiful area of Oregon with people visiting here or relocating to Oregon. The Crick House Retreat can be home base on your adventure in Newberg and the Oregon Wine Country. 30/60/90 day rental. $1200 per month $500 refundable deposit. No Pets No Smoking

Oregon has become a premier wine destination. And of course, fantastic wines mean Farm to Table food at our local restaurants too. Although world renown for our Pinot Noir (we host the International Pinot Noir Festival each year), our valley also manufactures Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sparkling, Riesling, Syrah, Merlot, Gamay, blends, and other varietals. Our wines rival all others and consistently get 90+ point ratings. Some tasting rooms have amazing views, some tasting rooms even have an art gallery (Trisaetum). We are happy to make suggestions if you don't already have some places in mind. B Suite can provide a customized picnic basket crafted from locally-produced ingredients for your wine tasting tour. No trip would be complete with a visit to valley wine merchants on s college In downtown newberg. Tell Andrew Turner you are staying with Donna and Gerry. • James Beard Award Winning restaurant and more. Great food and excellent wine always go hand-in-hand so Oregon Wine Country has many fine dining experiences to offer. The Painted Lady in downtown Newberg is a James Beard Award Winner. We also have Recipe - which offers a French menu, Mexican food trucks, Jacs (specializes in gluten free), Subterra which has an eclectic menu and extensive wine list at reasonable prices or Ruddick Wood for the hipster in you. In McMinnville, you will find French in Bistro Maison, Spanish Tapas at LaRambla, and steaks at Barberry. Dundee Bistro and Red Hills Market in Dundee are both superb! • Beyond Newberg - Downtown McMinnville and Carlton. McMinnville was recently-awarded "Best Main Street in Western America" and is super charming with more than - thirteen tasting rooms, three craft breweries, six fine dining options, numerous cafes and coffee shops, two chocolatiers, an organic grocery, and boutiques. Seasonal events like the Thursday Farmers Market or the Saturday Art & Wine Walk make it easy to experience life as a local. Carlton is another sweet local town where you can park and taste at some top wineries like Cana's Feast or Ken Wright, Tyrus Evans and Scott Paul. It has some lovely restaurants, a sweet park and Carlton Farms if you want to get some organic meat to bring back for the grill. • Hand crafted Brews. When you're done with wine - try some beer! Oregon is home hundreds of small breweries. We have several located right here in the valley. Fire Mountain, Heater Allen, Golden Valley, and Deception Brewing are some local favorites • We offer more than wine and beer. Have you heard about our olive oils and botanicals? An absolutely stunning location is Red Ridge Farms and Durant Vineyards which operate the Oregon Olive Mill. And, it is the only Olioteca in the Pacific Northwest. It was noted as one of the top producers in America, and visitors can sample a variety of oils and vinegars produced there. But, for a real treat, stroll Penny's 17 acres of olive trees and lavender fields while you note the glorious architecture and flowers. You'll think you are in France! • Don't Want to Drive? That's Fine! We have relationships with tour companies so you can relax and enjoy wine tasting without the worry of driving or assigning a designated driver. We can arrange tours with guides that are just right for you. We have relationships with tour companies that provide with friendly, knowledgeable drivers. They are happy to use their expertise to guide you along the way or, you can give them your list of favorites. List available on request. • Or...how about on horseback?. Take a vineyard tour on horseback. It is so much fun to see tasters arrive at a tasting room on horseback. Instead of watching, join in! Equestrian Wine Tours takes you on a 2-hour tour through vineyards located within the Dundee Hills. Taste wine, enjoy a picnic lunch and experience the vines from a different perspective. • Hot air ballooning. Vista Balloon Adventures offers a different view of the valley. Although be aware, it is seasonal, they offer sunrise balloon rides, where you can float about the valley and enjoy amazing views, then have a delicious champagne breakfast. • Up in the air with the Spruce Goose. At the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum you will find Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose in a gigantic world-class museum. Located just outside downtown McMinnville, you can see this stellar aircraft museum, an aerospace collection, an IMAX Theater, and an indoor water-park. • An Art Destination. Did you know the Willamette Valley is home to a thriving art scene? We are home to sculptors, painters, photographers and potters who showcase their wares at our Cultural Center and Elements Art Gallery in Newberg as well as The Lawrence Gallery in McMinnville. One of my favorites is James Frey, a painter/photographer and wine maker/owner of Trisaetum Winery - the only tasting room in the valley offering an art gallery. Jim is a gifted artist and has a stunning collection of art available for sale at the tasting room. • Oregon Coast. In only 90 minutes you can be at the Pacific Ocean! The western border of the state is a gorgeous sometimes rugged, shoreline. Our beaches are never over-populated, we have glorious cliffs rising to the clouds, lava flows, tidal pools with star fish and a pretty neat aquarium. The SpaceYou will feel you have walked into a quiet enchanted place when you arrive. This beautiful space overlooks a forest and a creek, and the sounds you hear are birds and the creek. We have six deer that come through as well. The apartment has an open floor plan, with about 1000 sq. feet. Beds are in the open space with living room and dining room. There is one full bath that is brand new. There is a kitchenette (not a full kitchen) with a double burner, microwave, hot water pot, coffee maker, full-size fridge and toaster. There is a utility sink in the laundry room for doing dishes. You can certainly make simple meals in this kitchenette if you desire. Guest AccessYou will park outside our house on the gravel round driveway. Enter between the garage and house. You will see a deck and stairway going down to the lower level. Go down the stairway and at the bottom of the stairs you will find a door to the apartment. Interaction with GuestsLet me know if you need anything during your stay (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). I may or may not be home when you arrive but I will be there at some point during your stay. The NeighborhoodThis house is just a few blocks away from downtown Newberg where there are many local shops, bakeries, coffee places, wine tasting rooms and restaurants. Check out this page for events in Newberg: (URL HIDDEN) Map to vineyards in the area: (URL HIDDEN) Getting AroundNewberg doesn't have much of a public transportation system. But you are only a few blocks away from a grocery store, many restaurants, parks, George Fox University, and walking trails. You will need a car to visit the many local wineries located in the beautiful rolling hills in the Willamette Valley. Other Things to NoteThere is a little cement deck outside your apartment. It does not have a railing, so be careful! That is why we do not recommend children. The city of Newberg has instated a 9% tax for airbnb. Please leave a check for the 9% tax of the base rate that you paid on the table when you leave, it's the only way for us to collect this tax.

The SpaceWelcome to our newly renovated four bedroom three bathroom house in the heart of wine country! We are a young family and can help you find your way to fun activities here in the Willamette Valley. As local restaurant owners, we offer all our guests a complementary voucher for a free dessert if you choose to dine in our restaurant, The Barlow Room, in nearby Dayton, Oregon. Or we're happy to point you towards some fantastic local dining options within walking distance. It's a short walk or bike ride to downtown, the University, galleries, coffee shops, or playgrounds. Guest AccessAll our guests have access to their private guest room which has a keyed lock for comfort and privacy with new blackout drapes if you're not an early-riser! You also have access to our family kitchen, a shared bathroom, laundry facilities, backyard and common spaces. Parking is available on the street. If you're traveling with children, they are more than welcome to share the toys in our playroom. Otherwise, if you're traveling alone or as a couple, your room is on the far side the far side of the house to ensure privacy and comfort. We do our best to keep the 4 year old and 2 year old out of your way! (Smile) Interaction with GuestsWe mostly keep to ourselves but happy to give suggestions on exploring wine country and local area! We do own two local restaurants (Joel Palmer House and The Barlow Room) and would be happy to make dinner reservations for you there if you'd like - just let us know. The NeighborhoodOur guests will get to experience living like a wine country local. We live in a quiet, family neighborhood close to downtown in the university community. So many options for wine tasting, hiking, dining, and other fun activities are right at our doorstep! Getting AroundThere is no public transit, however parking is available on the street and it is a short walk or bike ride to downtown (approx 4 blocks). Other Things to NotePlease note that the bathroom is shared with our two boys (2 years old and 4 years old). They pretty much only use it for tubby time, so you'll have it almost all to yourself - but let us know if this is an issue for you. Also - our home is all one level, so a great option for anyone with mobility challenges.

The SpaceThis cozy little house is what brought our family to this neck of the woods nearly 20 years ago. We raised our 3 children in this house and have many fond memories here. The house has been updated but it still has its original charm. The home has the original heat furnace in the kitchen which was used to heat the entire cottage; we have added cadet heaters in two of the bedrooms. The best part is the location and it's beautiful setting. If you desire peace & quiet, this is an attractive destination. (please note, neighbors have chickens and a rooster that crows) Guest AccessLarge backyard. Interaction with GuestsAvailable to offer help throughout your stay. We water the outdoor flowers, trees & shrubs on a regular basis. The NeighborhoodFriendly neighbors; however, private and quiet. Getting AroundAn automobile is essential for getting around the hilly Oregon countryside we live in. It's approximately 6 miles to Newberg or Wilsonville where grocery and household supplies may be purchased. Newberg's Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce has many resources & guides for things to do while you are visiting this area. Other Things to NoteCottage has security system.

The SpaceWe have created a haven of time travel to the Oregon of the 1940's (when our old farm house was built), you will feel that you are stepping back into homey, comfortable times with mid 20th century decor all around you but 21st century convenience. Our Retro Apartment is a unique experience in store for you, perfect for the anniversaries, a birthday getaway, wine tasting weekends & for those who love "off the beaten path" experiences. Let us know if it is a special occasion for you, we want to make it memorable in every way. Guest AccessWhen you come you will have your own separate entrance to your apartment. ***There are stairs down, so please note that. *** Our "Wimsey Book Cellars" apartment is roomy with a fully functioning kitchen, dining room/living room space. One point to note is the small bathroom (see photos) with shower and toilet, the sink is outside the bathroom and is part of the kitchen divided sink. This is a bit unusual but it works with the tight space available. (Keep in mind this was built in the 1940's...bathrooms could be just the essentials then, this bathroom arrangement reminds me of a fire-watch cabin that my brother worked in for the forestry department in the early 1960's, super efficient!) The bedroom is roomy with a double-bed (meaning a full size bed, not a queen size) with a lovely retro frame and many 40's accents. The entire apartment is richly decorated in 1940's style, since we wanted to honor our old house, built in the mid 1940's. Be prepared for a time-warp experience of big band music, black and white movies, best books and magazines of the 40's and rooms full of retro style ambiance. Guests are welcome to enjoy the hop-shaded [in season] patio located on the entrance side of the house with the lawn furniture provided. In the late fall and winter we are always busy with garden projects for the coming spring and you will find us trimming, raking, winterizing etc. so as to have an improved yard the next year. Our "lawn in the rough" [has weeds as we do not use herbicides or pesticides] in the back yard is available with a fire pit. During the summer lawns are not usually watered in an effort to conserve water. BUT we do have a garden with many herbs, fruits, veggies which we are happy to share. Plus their beauty in being watered and loved distracts from the dry lawn. With water shortages throughout the world we cannot justify watering the lawn. Interaction with GuestsWe look forward to meeting you as you arrive. We are often at home and both of us will be available via cell phone. We want to do everything we can to make certain your stay is an exceptional & memorable experience. The NeighborhoodWe are located in a quiet, diverse neighborhood of south Newberg less than a mile from downtown and just over a mile from the campus of George Fox University. There is not a neighbor within blocks who would not go out of their way to help you or make you feel welcome. We hear many different languages in among our neighbors and are happy to live in proximity with such a rich texture of such real & kind people. As mentioned, Newberg is one of the heartland communities of Oregon's world renown wine country and the area surrounding it is bustling with vineyards, wineries, and tasting rooms. We have stopped counting them! Additionally, the Sherwood-Yamhill County area boasts a growing brewery/tap room scene. Basically, in our back yard we have a city park with a disc golf course as well as a beautiful skate park. [BYOLI - Bring your own liability insurance.] Newberg has a dozen other parks and during the summer the Park & Rec district rents kayaks and canoes on the weekends to enjoy on the nearby Willamette River. [See Chehalem P & R website.] There is so much to do in our immediate area, but just imagine you will be a mere 90 minutes from both the beach and the mountains. Getting AroundPublic transportation is pretty limited in Yamhill County. Access to a vehicle, though not necessary to staying with us, would be helpful to fully enjoy the area's amenities. As mentioned, downtown, with tasting rooms and shops, as well as GFU are within walking distance. Other Things to NoteParking for you is available in our drive way, so you can be off the street and close to your separate entrance for loading and unloading & just in case there might be some Oregon rain (likely in Oct-Mar).

The SpaceWe are a young friendly married couple, and it's just the two of us in the home! We have no pets. We are both George Fox alumni/current student. Our home is simple, cozy, and (we think) very relaxing! We have an open "great room" floor plan, with a fireplace, built-in bookshelves, and two big skylights. The guest room is lovely, decorated very simply to be peaceful and relaxing, with high ceilings, a very comfortable full size bed (great condition), and with a big east-facing window it gets the best light in the house! (But has curtains so no worries about being woken up!). You will have the full bathroom to yourself for your stay, located right next to your room. It has a shower and bathtub, toilet, and single sink. We also have a big, fenced backyard with a covered patio, a table, and yard chairs, feel free to use!!! We think our space is ideal for visiting parents (or relatives or friends) of George Fox students, or prospective students checking out the school! Closer, less expensive, and a very pleasant surrounding! We are on the way to Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint if you are looking for an excursion! Also ideal for anyone traveling in wine country, or exploring the area between Portland and the Oregon Coast! Ben works from home in a home office; during the weekdays you are unlikely to see him much. Emily is a graduate student and depending on the days of the week may be out working, or in and out of the house. Guest AccessWe understand that often things like traffic, flight delays, and unexpected changes in plans on trips can make it hard to predict an exact schedule. No worries! Please communicate with us as you know your schedule on the day of arrival, but we can easily make arrangements for you to let yourself into the guest space if we aren't home or have headed to bed. You are welcome to use the kitchen; we'd appreciate if you let us know if you plan to, so that we can accommodate your schedule accordingly. Feel free to sit and rest in the living room by the fire or window, or peruse a book! Large, pretty, fenced backyard is open for use as well! You are definitely welcome to use the park across the street, seeing as it's public- it is literally right on the corner and it is a truly lovely short evening walk by the orchard! You are welcome to access our wifi for free! It is very reliable and fast, as Ben uses it for work. Interaction with GuestsWe will respect your privacy, and please feel free to come and go and interact with us as little as you like. But we are kind and friendly too! We are very comfortable with visitors in our home, and we are happy to chat, give you ideas of what to explore in Newberg or surrounding areas, help with directions, etc. If you need a ride into town (campus, coffee shops, etc.) during your visit, I (Emily) would be more than happy to drop you off when I can! Emily is fluent in Spanish if that would help at all during your stay! The NeighborhoodVery pretty, peaceful neighborhood. Located very conveniently to campus and downtown. Also right off the main road which leads to beautiful back roads towards the country and mountain views!! Very close to vineyards, farms, wine-tasting, and other awesome attractions of this area. Favorite attractions: Towards town: Chapters Books & Coffee, Coffee Cottage, Pulp & Circumstance (cute store!), Ruddick & Wood Tavern/restaurant. Down 219: Bald Peak State Viewpoint, North Valley Peace Path, Smith Berry Barn, South Store Cafe, Rain Dance Marketplace. Favorite places in the area: wine tasting everywhere!!! Red Hills Market in Dundee. Getting AroundEasy parking is available in our driveway and in front of our house. We are an easy bike ride from downtown or GFU campus! It is under 2 miles to campus and downtown, too, if you like to walk! Other Things to NoteIf you are a family traveling for a college visit and have more than 2 people (eg, parents and the student), let us know, and we may be able to accommodate you with an air mattress in the room!

The SpaceYou'll be struck by the peace and quiet the moment you arrive on the property. You'll be surrounded by vineyards, mountains and sky enjoyed from the comfort and charm of a well-appointed, romantic getaway. The kitchen is the heart of this home and it offers endless views right from the farm house table. You'll want to sit here awhile, nibble on the best French cheeses and sip a delicious wine. Stepping onto the back patio you'll feel engulfed by the expanse of what surrounds you. The space continues to inspire us ten years after we first experienced it. But it gets even better. As you walk into the vineyard, take a seat in the Adirondack chairs under the canopy of Douglas Fir trees. The views from this spot in the vineyard are breathtaking. The mountains, vineyards and sky before you are layered in a way that feels and looks like the most beautiful vistas in Italy or France. Then, just wait for the sunset to slowly and memorably unfold and you'll have experienced Oregon wine country at its best. Guest AccessYou'll have complete access to the entire 3+ acre property, including the vineyard house and our 2-acre vineyard. We encourage you to spend time in the vineyard sitting under the Fir trees and enjoying the view to the west where you'll view hillside vineyards on Ribbon Ridge and sunsets over the spectacular Coast Mountain Range. Interaction with GuestsWe like to welcome our guests in person, providing a cheerful and warm orientation to the home and vineyard. Let us know if you want our recommendations for wineries, restaurants or activities. We've been winegrowers in the area for ten years and ten years as consumers before that. Our primary home is about 30 minutes away from the vineyard house and we can be available if you need something from us, day or evening. The NeighborhoodThe vineyard house is situated in the Chehalem Mountains AVA with quick access to great wineries like Adelsheim, Bergstrom and Colene Clemens. Just another few minutes drive and you are in the Dundee Hills AVA where Oregon's biggest and best known wineries are located, such as Archery Summit, Domaine Serene and Domaine Drouhin Oregon. Oregon's world-class wine country destination, The Allison Resort and Spa, is about ten minutes drive from Noel Family Vineyard. Jory Restaurant at the Allison is one of our favorite restaurants in the area, as is Recipe in Newberg, the Red Hills Market in Dundee, and the Joel Palmer House in Dayton. All four of these restaurants carry Noel Family Vineyard Pinot noir on their wine lists. Getting AroundA car is essential for getting around in the hilly Oregon countryside. It's approximately 10 miles drive into town where basic amenities such as grocery, coffee, and household supplies can be purchased. There is a hospital in town, a library, a fire department and police department. There is also a drive-in movie theater in town, one of the few remaining drive-in theaters in America.

Use the gas fireplace for a pleasant atmosphere while you peruse the home's book selection, or put some music on the stereo and chat with your friends. The upstairs landing has a TV if you want to watch something on cable, and WiFi is available if you want to keep up on emails. Brew some coffee in the mornings to get going, then prepare a meal and enjoy it in the dining room. There's a dishwasher for easy cleanup, so you can focus on more important things. A gas grill outside is available for barbecues. A master bedroom on the main floor has a queen bed, a couch, and a second TV, so anyone who has difficulty with stairs can have the best room in the house. On the second floor there are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a king. If that's not quite enough sleeping space, a twin-size sofabed makes enough room for seven guests. For a small nightly fee, well-behaved dogs are welcome to join in the fun. There are two and a half bathrooms, so don't stress over shower scheduling. A private washer and dryer provided for your convenience means you can feel free to pack light. This home also has wheelchair access. Either families or groups of friends will enjoy Newberg's mix of small-town charm and proximity to a major city. Have a picnic in Champoeg State Heritage Park, go for a wine tasting at Utopia Vineyard, or shop for gifts at the Rain Dance Marketplace.
