The SpaceCentrally located in the Portland metro area, The TreeHouse is located in West Linn, a lovely, prosperous community bordering the Willamette River and Willamette Falls* (see below) features a quaint "Old Town" to walk and explore with many dining opportunities. Portland proper is just 15 minutes away and Mt. Hood skiing and the Columbia River Gorge is less than an hour, the scenic Clackamas and Willamette Rivers just minutes away and the Willamette Valley wine country a mere stone's throw. This spacious, rustic tri-level stilt dwelling climbs into the surrounding forest and features a lovely view of the wooded hillside and creek below and features loads of amenities all at your exclusive disposal.
The Tiki Dry-Bar Kitchenette (NOT a full kitchen and no sink, but no worries - we do the dishes for you :-) is equipped with a small fridge, ice cooler, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, dishes/glasses, silverware and food prep items (cutlery, cutting boards/mixing/serving bowls, spatulas, etc) and a couple of growlers to fill up at the local pub. There is NO COOK TOP OR OVEN, but on the deck you'll find a Jenn Air Gas Grill BBQ/Oven w/ Sideburner & Rotisserie and built in temperature gauge if you wish to grill, barbecue, bake or boil. Also, for special occasions or holidays we can loan you our Hamilton Beach 22 Quart (28 Lb Turkey) Electric Roaster Oven.
While infants and children are welcome, they do count for billing purposes as an "additional" guest. So when you list them in your reservation please also change the number of guests accordingly. So, for example, a couple with an infant, would select 3 (in the dropdown menu) for the number in their party.
One of the highlights of the space is The Blue Room (aka The Kane Cave) a combination Home Theater Room / Polynesian Lounge w/ a Tiki Bar, leather sectional sofa / recliner, 70" Sony XBR HDTV and Marantz A/V Receiver with 7.1 THX Certified Surround Sound. With 7 reference quality Triad monitor & in wall surround speakers plus a 20" enclosed sub woofer, the system rivals the local Cineplex and doubles as a high end audio system as well. You can log into your Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Go, or Spotify accounts using the PlayStation 3. You’ll find a number of Super Audio CD's (SACD’s) below the TV for your listening pleasure as well as blu ray movies and games. The system as a whole, whether it’s music or movies, is a dream come true for any video or audiophile.
The Tiki Dry-Bar kitchenette (no sink, but no worries - we do the dishes for you :-) is equipped with a small fridge/freezer, ice cooler, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, dishes/glasses, silverware and food prep items (mixing/serving bowls, spatulas, etc) and a couple of growlers to fill up at the local pub. There is no oven or stove, but on the deck you'll find a Jenn Air Gas Grill BBQ/Oven w/ Sideburner & Rotisserie and built in temperature gauge if you wish to grill, barbecue, bake or boil.
A continental breakfast is provided in the fridge, i.e. cereal, bagels, waffles, spreads, toast, juice, coffee/tea, etc.
While central heating is provided, we also offer a natural gas, log fireplace with 65,000 Btu's at your disposal (see picture of great room). There are also extra blankets, quilts or comforters in the guest room closets as well as a space heater for use in the bedroom.
In conclusion, our space is homey with character and a comfortable, lived in feel. If you are expecting a pristine, perfect, Hyatt-like experience, you would be better served finding other accommodations :-) Likewise, while events are welcome, this is NOT a party house with noise restrictions after midnight. So, if you want to "party all night", you would be better served finding a stand alone unit.
*The Willamette Falls is a natural waterfall on the Willamette River between Oregon City and West Linn, Oregon, in the United States. It is the largest waterfall in the American Pacific Northwest by volume, and the seventeenth widest in the world. Horseshoe in shape, it is 1,500 feet (460 m) wide and 40 feet (12 m) high with a flow of 30,849 cu ft/s (874 m³/s). Guest AccessDescend the long side staircase into the forest below and enter the 1st floor suite-on-stilts via your own separate entrance. Inside, a locked, solid core door separates your private, self contained unit from the rest of the structure. While we reside above, we spend most of our time and sleep on the 3rd floor. Please park to the right of the driveway (as you face the house).
From early September to mid June, check in (Mon - Fri) is between 5:00 - 6:00 PM, but the space is often available earlier. Let us know if you would like an early check in and we'll see what we can do to accommodate you. On weekends, holidays and school recess periods (winter and spring breaks and summer vacation) check in is between 3:00 and 6:00 PM.
Please be advised that the cleaning fee of $15 is for stays of 2 nights or less. For stays of additional length, add $10/day. So a stay of 5 days, the cleaning fee would be $45. Interaction with GuestsWe provide a tour, answer questions and offer concierge services. We also enjoy playing ping pong and darts and will gladly oblige any and all comers. The NeighborhoodIn this upscale, quiet, residential neighborhood, you'll get the feeling of being "away from it all", yet only 20 minutes from downtown Portland and 3 minutes from a Walmart Neighborhood Grocery, Safeway and Starbucks. An award winning winery is less than 3 minutes away and Mary S. Young State Park no more than 5, and the lovely Tryon Creek State Park less than 15 min. Please check out our Guidebook for more tips and suggestions for nearby food and fun. Getting AroundTri Met bus is a 20 min. walk but with extreme elevation changes - not for the faint of (or a weak) heart. If you're lacking transportation, we highly recommend a rental car or Uber / Lyft. Other Things to NoteThis is the same space as The TreeHouse Too 2 BR B&B Flat, just minus one bedroom for those who have no need of an additional bedroom and who wish to save money. We do not double book them. Once The TreeHouse Bed & Breakfast Suite is booked The TreeHouse Too 2 BR B&B Flat is listed as unavailable. So, no, you won't be rooming with others :-)
As you can imagine, Portland very much has a "high" and "low" season when it comes to travel and tourism. And pricing for lodging varies accordingly. So don't be surprised if the daily rate in the summer when you want to visit is 20 - 30% higher than the daily rate listed when you book in April. So please understand it is not a bait and switch. That low rate you're seeing in April would very much apply if you were booking in April, but it does not apply for July or August. One other pricing note: Children are welcome, but are considered a "person" for billing purposes (including infants and toddlers).
Kitchen items—If you want to cook on the outdoor grill/oven, you will have access to pots, pans, utensils, and basic supplies like cooking oil, salt and pepper. Since the dry bar has no sink, we provide daily dish cleaning service. So, no "doing dishes" during your stay (yeh! :-) We also provide a refillable pitcher of filtered water.
Towels & Linens—We provide towels and linens, so no need to bring your own. If your stay is longer than 3 days we provide a fresh set of towels and a laundry service of personal items on the 3rd day and every 3rd day thereafter. Additional launders are $5 each (unfolded).
Toiletries—We provide soap/body wash, shampoo/conditioner, shaving cream and blow dryer.
Heat & Air Conditioning—There is central heating set at 68 degrees mornings and evenings, but there is a 65,000 Btu gas fireplace at your disposal. A/C is also central, and is set at 73 degrees 24/7.
We have 3 very friendly & lovable English Bulldogs, but they are kept on the main level unless you wish them to come and visit you. Bibi especially likes to hang out with you when you're in the hot tub :-)
