The SpaceNewly renovated, quaint bedroom nestled against peaceful, wooded backyard. Enjoy a bright, clean bedroom with easy access to city living. Relax on the hammock, explore the woods, and enjoy the company of our backyard chickens. You'll forget you're in the city when you stay in this quiet, wooded nook. This newly renovated room offers the comforts of home with easy access to all the city has to offer. The bedroom is situated in the lower level of our home with private access through the backyard. The room was updated in July 2015, but it is not perfect. Some detail work is still needing to be finished (i.e. trim/molding) The windows are old and one has a crack and water damage so it is foggy. We are in the process of getting replacement windows! The room has a comfortable queen size bed, a small table with two chairs, a large wardrobe, a storage unit stocked with some interesting books and games. You'll find a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, coffee/tea/sugar, mugs, glassware, flatware, plates, and bowls in the room as well. The bathroom has a large shower and is stocked with fresh towels and washcloths. There is a window AC unit/fan in the room. In the winter months we have radiant floor heat. The room tends to get very warm when the heat is on and there is no thermostat in the room. We suggest cracking a window or turning on fan if it is too warm. The backyard offers a spacious brick patio with seating, a comfortable hammock, and a beautiful wooded backdrop. Our chicken coop is in the back of the yard. The chickens are friendly and will happily eat any food scraps you give to them! We also have three cats who are very friendly and three children who you may see playing around the yard. We love our home and hope you love it too! We want your stay to be as relaxing and comfortable as possible, and we'll do our best to accommodate your needs. We're around to interact as much or as little as you'd like. Our kids and the house keep us pretty occupied so we generally keep to ourselves. The neighborhood of Highland Park is a quiet, safe, and beautiful neighborhood. The bus stop (71A) is a 10 minute walk and can take you to other directly to other interesting neighborhoods such as Shadyside, Oakland, and Downtown. The entrance to Highland Park is also a 10-15 minute walk where you will find a spectacular fountain, immaculate gardens, playgrounds, bike paths, hiking trails, and plenty of green space. The SpaceFor starters, there are three bedrooms (one of which is yours) and a shared bathroom. Your room is quite cozy, and the bed is standard size, or adult twin, and very comfortable (so comfortable you won’t want to share). There's overhead lighting and a lamp, offering a warmer feel. You'll find a 3-drawer dresser and sufficient closet space for the minimalist. Salvage style décor, nothing matches, yet it somehow works. During the warmer months, enjoy the front and back porches. Guest AccessYou may use the living room, dining room, and kitchen. As a tea lover, I am happy to share my tea blends with you. If you would like to prepare your own meals, let me know, so that I can give you a proper introduction. Please feel free to store your food in the refrigerator. You'll also have access to the Wireless internet. For longer stays, beyond 5 days, you're welcome to use the washer & dryer, which is in the basement Interaction with GuestsI am happy to provide information about transportation, dining, shopping, and most anything else you need or want. Should you prefer to be left alone, I will make myself available when needed. I want your stay to be as you imagine, or better. The NeighborhoodStanton Heights is located between Lawrenceville and the East End district, and minutes (by car) from downtown. Located in the city, with a small town feel. Warm, comfortable, and peaceful much of the time (remember, you’re in the city), you can take walks in the neighborhood or around the reservoir in nearby Highland Park. Whether walking, driving, biking or busing (which is just outside the door) you're about 2 miles from East Liberty and Shadyside where you'll find Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe's, restaurants of your pleasure, and a bit of nightlife. In the other direction, there's Lawrenceville, about 2 miles just down the big hill, which is known for its locally grown businesses, creative and friendly vibe. You're also about an hour and a half away from Ohiopyle, Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. Getting AroundVery convenient, with easy access to Pittsburgh happenings! A bus stop is conveniently located just steps from the house and you’re just a short bus ride (or drive) to downtown, East Liberty, and Shadyside (some of the fun places). Plenty of parking is available on the street. If you're traveling by plane, an express bus will bring you directly to the city, where you can transfer to a bus that will bring you a stones throw away from the house! If you prefer taking a taxi, please expect to spend about $50. Other Things to NoteThere are steps, approximately 13, leading to the front door.

The Space***PLEASE CONTACT HOST BELOW WITH INQUIRY BEFORE REQUESTING TO BOOK. ***THIS IS NOT A PARTY HOUSE. Main floor - Very large living room and foyer area (1200 sq.ft), opens up on one side to a large outdoor patio (360 sq.ft), on the other side to a smaller patio adjacent to the pond/waterfall. 7 double patio doors allow for easy flow, weather allowing. This is finished in travertine stone floors, 14 to 22 ft ceilings, fireplace, indoor fountain. There is a breakfast room, kitchen, and dining room. and an elevated area that was used as an (open) office ice but is now being "redefined" - "Classy room with majestic shower" has a queen size bed, desk and computer, and an oversized shower inspired by the Savoy hotel in London (The "Savoy shower" has an 18" rain shower head and British exposed shower hardware). The room can fit an extra bed easily, and is about 24x15 ft large Entertainment floor This floor offers about 2400 sq ft of entertainment space. Lower floor - "Comfortable and very private room" has a king size bed. This is lowest floor of the house, but not a basement since the house is on a hillside lot. The room has a patio door and a private patio for a cup of coffee in the summer. The bathroom has a rain shower and jacuzzi tub and is finished in marble and honey onyx. The office on this floor is very large and can easily be converted to a bedroom by adding a temporary queen sized bed or such. There are doors on both the office and the bedroom for privacy, but note that you have to go through the office to get to the bedroom. So, this floor would be suitable for a family of 4, for example, offering a very private 1100 sq ft suite with its own bathroom. The SpaceThe Sunlit Green Room is just that, a lovely shade of green that is conducive to creativity and inspiration. The green room is also the sunniest room in the house (when the sun shines that is, this is Pittsburgh so no guarantees on that one) and home to a few window succulents and spider plant. All-in-all a perfect space for chilling with a book/ Kindle or getting down to business. Free Wifi! Guest AccessGuests have access to their room (of course), a shared bathroom, limited access to the kitchen-we can make room in the refrigerator upon request and use of the microwave is allowed. Brita filtered water is also available. Off street parking is available in the driveway and in front of the house. Interaction with GuestsWill gladly offer advise if we are available to do so. We are happy to allow our guests privacy if that is what they wish. Getting AroundWe are less than a block away from an 87 bus stop. Download the schedule from (URL HIDDEN) or use (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps to find your bus routes and schedules. Other Things to NoteThe house is older, built in 1920 with hardwood floors throughout. They provide a nice look but can be a bit loud and creaky, especially going up the stairs. We have grown accustomed to it living here for a decade, but it may not be great for light sleepers or those who need complete silence. Having said that we are not up and down all night so this should not be an issue. If you happen to come in later on a weekend and we are in bed we will not be bothered by the creaks so you don't have to worry about being too loud.
