The SpaceWe are renting out our sunny, cozy guest bedroom on the first floor of our Squirrel Hill home. The private bedroom has a standard (or double) size bed which can fit two comfortably, or one luxuriously! Enjoy your own private full bathroom (with a roomy shower) which is attached to the bedroom. The bedroom is located right off the living room, close to the entrance to the home, which makes it easy to walk inside and slip right into your own private space. We want to make our guests feel at home as much as possible: make yourself coffee (with our coffee maker), or make meals with full access to our kitchen and dine in the dining room. We also pride ourselves on our large backyard complete with a garden and covered seating area. When staying with us, you will also have full access to this magical space! We do have a happy, fat friendly cat named Buffalo. She would love to make friends with you in the living room, but she will not have access to your room. We are excited to be sharing our home and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the city, not to mention share a list of all of our favorite Pittsburgh places with you! Guest AccessPrivate bedroom, Private bathroom, shared living room, shared dining room, shared kitchen, backyard, front porch. Interaction with GuestsBen and Joanna live in this home and will be there during your stay to answer any questions/ assist you in any way. The upstairs is their primary living headquarters (their offices, bathroom and bedroom are upstairs). Upstairs of the home is off limits to Air BNB guests. The NeighborhoodOur home is located on the cusp of 2 great neighborhoods: Squirrel Hill and Greenfield. Our house is a 10 min. walk to the heart of Squirrel Hill's cute business district full of local cafes, an independent movie theater, Pittsburgh's famous Pamela's Diner, many tasty Asian restaurants, yoga studios, and clothing boutiques. There is a Giant Eagle Grocery Store less than a block away from our house as well if you would like to cook some meals at our place. One of our favorite bars in Pittsburgh, Hough's, is in Greenfield, a mainly residential neighborhood. Hough's is a five minute drive away and has a HUGE selection of beer! We are also a quick and easy drive or bus ride to the Waterfront shopping district which has a large movie theater, Barnes & Noble Bookstore, and tons of shopping and restaurants. Getting AroundThere are usually parking spots available right in front of our home, but if they are taken there is ALWAYS parking available around the corner on Welfer Street or Murray Avenue. Don't have a car? There are multiple buses headed to downtown, to Oakland (where the Universities are), the stadium/ North Shore and much, much more that can pick you up right next to our home. Other Things to NoteWe take great pride in the time we spend preparing the room and our home for each guest to ensure that it is as clean and inviting as possible. Because of this, we do not allow changes to reservations after your first night staying with us.

The bed in the bedroom is only a double bed however the couch in the main room folds out into a bed as well. Guest AccessFull access to the entire basement. Interaction with GuestsWe are available if needed and live on the top 2 floors. However you have your own entrance so we respect your privacy. The NeighborhoodWe are in the center of Sq. Hill. There are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream parlors and a large super market. We have a movie theater and lots of bars/nightlife. Most everything is in walking distance - maximum 10 minutes. There is free street parking right in front of our place. Getting AroundThe busses to Oakland, Shadyside and Downtown stops 2 minute walk from our house. There are also many Uber/Lyft drivers in this neighborhood so getting a ride is never an issue Other Things to NoteAlthough they are restricted from the basement, this is a house with a small child. It is impossible to sound proof the area so from time to time you may hear her. PLEASE NOTE: We have recently purchased and provided a sound machine. It does a very good job at drowning any noises from outside or upstairs. :) Also this is a basement apartment therefore there are some bulkheads that cause low ceiling clearance in some areas. If you are a very tall person this might not be the right place for you. As the summer months approach it is important to note, there is no air conditioning. It is a basement so stays fairly cool most of the time but we like to prewar people before they book if central air is a deal breaker

The SpaceThis space is unique because it is private and surrounded by greenery. Situated in between two of pittsburgh's city parks, Frick and Schenely. 10 minutes from the Food co-op and whole foods, walk to the farmers market on Sunday. Minutes from all major museums and Phipps Conservatory. Enjoy the city but feel like you're in a tree house. Hardwood floors through out the upstairs. Two story house. A very comfy brand new queen bed and a new full bed in the guest room. There's a full bath with tub and shower. Laundry room with new dryer. Please note a paper street means a very large set of city steps. There are many steps down to the house and a set inside. Please be mindful when booking if this would be an issue for you or anyone in your party. Guest AccessThe guest has access to anything you would like in the nest . In the master room there is place to hang items and an empty dresser cleared out for your personal items. Shampoo, basic toiletries, TP, soap, toothpaste, towels, hairdryer, and sheets are provided. There's a fully stocked kitchen with staple items and all the pots, pans, and cooking spices you may need. To access the house you want to park at the top of Minnesota street where it intersects Blanton. Walk down the Blanton street steps staying to your left. Interaction with GuestsIf you'd like I can tell you all about the city and provide some great recommendations. Born and raised in pittsburgh I can give you some insider tips and help you avoid the tourist traps. I am always available via phone or text and I respond very quickly. I will not be staying at the residence when you are here. The NeighborhoodGreenfield is a hidden gem. It hasn't yet gone through the pittsburgh "revival" so if you want to experience the city the way the "yinzers" know and love it this will be the perfect place for you. It's quiet and neighbor friendly- (my neighbor hangs baskets of her garden tomatoes on my door, how awesome is that!) with easy access to many parts of the city. Conveniently located next to some of Pittsburgh's major bike lanes and trails. One of the best city pubs is only a block away (Houghs) and a great coffee shop (the Staghorn) right down the street. (Free wifi) Getting Around1 minute away from 376 and squirrel hill tunnels. House is across the bridge from Oakland, the location of CMU, Pitt, Chatham and more. Sits right above a public bus stop that's a ten minute ride downtown. Other Things to NoteOne note, there is no wifi or cable at the birds nest.... this is a true urban escape. If this is a deal breaker for you and you plan on staying for a month or more... talk to me and I will get wifi/cable if you desire. However there are many great coffee shops with in walking distance if you feel the need to work while your in town. I am flexible with long term stay pricing, feel free to make me an offer.

The SpaceThis basement apartment has two bedrooms and you are renting one of them. The other bedroom is currently occupied by a long term guest. The whole basement is very well lighted with LED recess lights and the bedrooms are spacious. Because it is a basement apartment, the windows are small and there is not much natural sunlight, so this won't work for you if you are claustrophobic. Guest AccessThe basement units have own private entrance. The house itself has large front yard and a great porch for you to use. Interaction with GuestsWe live upstairs so we can have as much interaction or as little as you wish. After 8pm we usually go to the 2nd floor so it's pretty quiet then. However, you may have more interaction with the other basement occupant. The NeighborhoodThis apartment is a 5-10 minutes walk to CMU and a 15-20 minute walk to University of Pittsburgh and Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden. The shopping and restaurant area in Squirrel Hill (near Murray Ave and Forbes Ave) is only 0.7 miles away with very diverse dining options (ethnic and traditional Pittsburgh), a good theater (Manor) and a very nice library (Carnegie Library). If you go the other way down the Forbes Ave , you will find another set of shopping and restaurant area -- as well as Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History Museum about 1 mile away. Getting AroundStreet/neighborhood parking is available and free for evening and weekend parking only. If you need to park your car outside of these hours, please contact us for more information. (Buses are much more convenient! The 28X gets you from the airport to 0.5 mile away from us. Also Lyft and Uber are widely available in the city. ) Other Things to NoteDryer and washer are shared with everyone in the house and they are located in an enclosed space in the basement separate from your area. However, the main house occupants may have to walk through the basement living area to use laundry. So, to maintain the privacy of all basement occupants, the main house occupants are prohibited to use laundry after 6pm. And, to maintain lower noise level in the basement, use of laundry after 12 am is subject to approval of the other basement occupant.
