The SpaceThis property was purchased and completely renovated and furnished in December, 2013. My wife and I use this property when we visit our home town of Pittsburgh (we live in the Bahamas). Otherwise, It's a dedicated rental property that is decorated and outfitted with temporary guests in mind. We like to think of it as our one unit hotel! The apartment features a fully equipped open concept kitchen with everything you need to cook a simple meal during your stay. There is a keurig coffee maker (k-cups not provided) in the kitchen so don't forget to bring your own k-cups! The living room features a brand new 55 inch flat screen TV with a TiVo Plus and Netflix account along with local channels. The sofa bed opens up into an additional queen sized bed to accommodate up to 6 people (additional fees apply). Both bathrooms have been recently renovated with brand new vanities, lighting, tiling, and a new open concept master shower. The main bedroom features a queen sized bed (linens included), night tables, and an en-suite bathroom. **Please note, there is a closet in this bedroom that is kept locked to hold some of our personal belongings. There is a full sized armoire in the room with plenty of hangers and shelves available for your use. The second bedroom features a full sized bed (linens included), night tables, and a large closet, entirely available for guest usage. **As of 01/31/15 both beds were replaced with brand new Simmons Beautysleep luxury firm mattresses! The apartment also features central a/c, in-unit laundry facilities, and a front patio with great views of beautiful Allegheny Commons North Park. The unit is perfect for up to four people for extended stays, and up to six people for shorter stays. If you are new to airbnb, please send me a message before making a reservation request. We like to get to know un-reviewed guests so we can make sure that our apartment is a good fit for you. Interaction with Guestsasdfasdfasdfasdf The NeighborhoodOne of the best highlights of our apartment is it's great location! We are within a 20 minute walk to all of the following places (and much more): *Heinz Field - 20 minutes *PNC Park - 20 minutes *The Rivers Casino - 20 minutes *Allegheny General Hospital - 10 minutes *Downtown Pittsburgh - 20 minutes *The Warhol Museum - 15 minutes *The Mattress Factor Museum - 7 minutes *The National Aviary - 4 minutes In addition to all of the great options, our apartment is a short drive or an easy cab ride to all of the other great neighborhoods that Pittsburgh has to offer. If you have your own car, there is ample street parking nearby in our neighborhood. We've never had a problem finding parking right out front. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop directly in front of the building for easy access to downtown & other locations in Pittsburgh Other Things to NoteToiletries are not included. In order to avoid any confusion, if you have questions regarding amenities or other extras that we have at the apartment, please feel free to ask!!!

The SpaceIf you are coming to Pittsburgh for a night, a weekend or something a little more extended we hope you will consider staying with us. Offered is a one bedroom/one bathroom apartment located in a Mexican War Streets Historic District row house built in the 1890's. Property is three units and owner occupied so you will have one unit to yourself, a nice neighbor and our attention as needed. We are open to accommodating one night stays, but weekend bookings must be for at least two nights. We do have a check in/check out time listed (After 4p/Before 11a) but we are willing to work with you on that if we have no incoming/outgoing guest on your first or last day. -Loft-esque bedroom with a new queen size real bed that sleeps two (window a/c unit, seasonally) and an actually comfy full-size futon in the living room. A quick word of warning that the stairs to the bedroom are a bit steep. Please refer to photos. -The ever important wi-fi is available. -Eat-in, fully equipped kitchen with breakfast makings and some staples provided (as in good things you will actually want to eat since we will have talked about it before you show up). -Private access to shared in-house porch/back yard/garden where you can grill out, take a nap in a hammock or enjoy a fire at night. -Parking is on street and most usually available. -You can borrow a our canoe (it is locked up on a boat rack on the river walk by PNC Park; only transport of paddles and life jackets is necessary). -You have babies? We have babies! We are kid friendly, Our kids will totally share their stuff so you don't have to pack as much, Items available include but are not limited to: a pack and play, a toddler mattress, kid bedding, stuffed animals, books, toys, bumbo chair, etc. -We have a dog. Speaking of dog, here are a few more things to be aware of... -The entry hallway leading up to the apartment is currently unattractive. We are working on it and hope you are not offended in the meantime. -This house is old and the first level flooring is original. Thus you may hear some noises from them and the basement (nothing obnoxious). These noises are your friends that are keeping you warm and water flowing. -The airbnb photographer did a really good . Almost too good. The space is nice and gets nice light but please know that the pictures might make it look 10% better than it is. More about the location: Within Walking Distance (WWD) WWD 1/2 mile range -The Mattress Factory: Installation Art Gallery -National Aviary -Children's Museum of Pittsburgh -Allegheny Commons Park -Dog Park -Zip Cars -Bus stop/Light rail -A coffee shop -A local corner store/deli carrying higher end food products and tasty deli sandwiches. -Rite Aid (in case you forget your tooth brush or want to impulsively buy a chocolate covered cherry in a check out line) -Restaurants that we can talk about when you get here, this includes one of the better Thai places in Pittsburgh, a killer BBQ place and Penn Brewery Brew Pub and Beer Garden. WWD 1 mile range -PNC Park: Home of the Pirates -Heinz Field: Home of the Steelers -The Warhol Museum: Home of Andy Warhol's art. -Stage AE -Hazlett Theater -Carnegie Science Center -Rivers Casino -Light Rail Station -Downtown Pittsburgh -Heinz Hall -Benedum Center -Point State Park -Near instant access to every major highway in every direction from Pittsburgh. Other Things Not Terribly Far Away -Consol Energy Center: Home of the Penguins (short and free light rail ride away) -The Strip District: Iconic old school market district meets new wave food and beverage. Everyone wins. -Great Pittsburgh Viewpoints: Mt. Washington Grandview, West End Overlook, Fineview. -Short and easy drives to Oakland (home to Pitt and CMU), South Side, East End (quickly upcoming area thanks to (website hidden)) north and south 'burbs and airport. We really hope you have a great experience in this sometime under-appreciated city and would love to make recommendations, provide you with a relaxing place to stay complete with some extra goodies (a local brew, tasty coffee and maybe a bicycle if desired) and a place that location wise puts you in great position to easily enjoy a lot of the great things about Pittsburgh with easy access to those things farther than a walk or bike ride away. We are also happy to leave you completely alone to do your own thing, if so desired, or meet somewhere in between. Guest AccessIn addition to the aforementioned backyard and items in it, you are welcome to use our canoe (which locked up on the river bank next to PNC Park. No transportation necessary), bicycles or other sporting equipment. Interaction with GuestsWe will interact with you as much (pending the needs of our children) or as little as you like. Our experiences have ranged from merely saying hi in the hallway to outings or nightly visits with some of our longer term guests. The NeighborhoodWe live in our neighborhood for many reasons. Among them are the human diversity, the arts, the park, the proximity to wonderful things that Pittsburgh has to offer and the sense of neighborliness. We hope you enjoy the same while you are here. Getting Around-Parking is on street, free and usually available with 75 ft of the house. -City bus stop is 2 blocks away. -Light rail stop is 10-15 minute walk. -Lyft, Uber and traditional taxis serve our area. -Our neighborhood is very walkable and has great access to bike trails. -Transit from and to airport is a 45 minute bus ride, 25 minute drive or taxi ride. Other Things to NotePlease note that we really do view airbnb as a community. We are hosts not a hotel and will not accept reservations from those without a profile or verifications as we have offered the same to our prospective guests. We have this listed as accommodating 4 people. The intent of this is more so for a family as we personally would not consider this a comfortable space for 4 individual adults and would also like to avoid 'crash pad' situations.

The SpaceThis home is equipped with wireless internet, Roku Streaming TV, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, full bar, fireplace and rooftop porch off the bedroom. Sleeping accommodations are 1 queen pillow top bed in master bedroom with beautiful covered porch patio off the master; a firm full size bed on 1st floor 1 pull out sofa on the 1st floor that I put a blow up mattress on top of when used. The kitchen is equipped with appliances to support any lifestyle. Off street parking for 2-3 cars is very convenient. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. My reviews speak for themselves. Mt. Washington is central to everything in Pittsburgh. You will not be disappointed. You should know that I have a boy cat who is very well behaved, you are not expected to manage him. With my listings you get what you pay for, this is much more than just beds. Located on Mt. Washington, a 3-minute drive or 10-minute walk to the spectacular view of Pittsburgh from Grandview Avenue. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh and I'd be happy to give you suggestions for local dining, activities and entertainment. The space is laid out for a relaxing stay, enjoying the outdoors, and enjoying time with friends. The neighborhood is cozy and quite, but in walking distance to a spectacular view or fun trails, public transportation to downtown and all around town. I prefer that guests stay 2 nights, however I will consider a 1 night stay. For reservations made less than 24 hrs. days in advance there will be an additional $25 extra charge after accepting booking adjustment. Guest AccessGuests have complete access to the entire home. Interaction with GuestsI am recently retired and very much enjoying an active life outside the home, we won't see each other much at all, unless you need me for something. I send guests easier directions once they are close (better than a gps). You should know that I have a boy cat who is very well behaved, you are not expected to manage him. With my listings you get what you pay for, this is much more than just a bed. The NeighborhoodI have a sister and her family living next door, my brother lives next to her with his family and my son lives across the street in another direction. The house is looked after and cared for by more than just myself. The neighbors are friendly. Getting AroundI am within walking distance of the trolly line and the inclines that go down the side of Mt. Washington. Uber is very popular here for transportation, as well. Other Things to NoteA couple of details that other guests have pointed out to me, that I would not notice...the full bath in the master suite has a sheer curtain instead of a door. Also, my home is not kid friendly; there is no door at all to the master suite with an open staircase leading down to the first floor. Please note that air conditioning is only in master bedroom and bar room with bed. There are ceiling fans and other fans throughout.

The SpaceThis is a super-cute apartment on the second floor of charming Penn Ave building in the heart of Garfield. If you love lots of light, warm colors, high ceilings, vintage charm, a diverse and eclectic walkable neighborhood, and historic feel this cozy place is perfect for you! Here are the details: The layout is a two-room studio. The first room has two huge south-facing windows, 12 foot ceilings, and a faux-fireplace. It serves as a bed/living combo. The 2nd room is a kitchen. The stove and refrigerator were purchased last year. Original pocket doors (that work!) separate the two rooms. The bathroom is also newly renovated (new shower, toilet, vanity+mirror, extra toiletries, and hair dryer). We provide fluffy towels and high threadcount sheets/linens. There is a brand new furnace exclusive to the unit that you control and the unit has a large window A/C unit to keep it cool. The space is ideal for one person, a couple, or close friends as the queen bed and full-size futon are in the same room. There are two wooden wardrobes for clothing and coats. Private entry via Penn Ave or our side door from the rear parking pad. Free internet... you can hop right on our building's FIOS which is fast and awesome. There is free, off-street parking in the rear of the building in a parking pad that accommodates up to a mid-size SUV/Van. Just down the street from People's Indian Restuarant, Spak Brothers Pizza and Sandwiches, Commonplace Coffee, Prairie [Coming Soon!], Pho Minh, Trams, Brillobox and so much more! For short residencies or visiting family, the unit is within walking distance or a short drive to Children's Hospital and West Penn Hospital. 8 blocks from Yoga Hive's awesomeness for your physical fitness needs. Bloomfield, East Liberty, and trendy Lawrenceville are just a few blocks away, with many more culinary and entertainment options. If you are a runner, the streets of neighboring Friendship are nice and flat. Allegheny cemetery is also a few blocks away which is a lovely place to walk/run. Green space can be found in Friendship park and nearby Highland Park. This apartment is not for you if: * You do not like eclectic, urban settings. * You require a TV * You require a yard. * Your daily (and nightly) habits are possibly noisy and/or disruptive [the apartment is located above a 9-5 business/office]. * You are not capable of climbing stairs [there is one flight up to the 2nd floor unit]. * You require a bathtub. The bathroom is fully renovated with a lovely new and spacious shower stall. * You require 100% quiet to sleep. There is some light traffic noise from Penn Ave. Please let us know if you have any questions about this apartment. We'd love to host you in Pittsburgh! Guest AccessThe guests will have access to the full unit. Interaction with GuestsWe like to greet guests at the door if we are home, but often due to scheduling we have a system for guests to let themselves in. We are always available via text, phone, and email. We often check in once or twice during a stay via text just to make sure everything is OK, but other than that we let our guests set the tone in terms of how much communication they would like to have with us. We are always up for meeting new people, and have even dined with guests at our favorite restaurants, but we know that most often people are looking to relax, do their own thing, and not socialize. We respect our guests privacy and try to keep communication channels open and efficient. The NeighborhoodWe love our eclectic and diverse neighborhood. Garfield has many art galleries and installations, restaurants, and businesses. It's an area that has seen much revitalization recently, but there are still buildings that are boarded up on our block. We are also experiencing construction on the main street at the moment. We feel that the neighborhood is a great asset to our location, but realize it might not be for everyone. Getting AroundFor guests looking to explore a wide spectrum of Pittsburgh sites and scenes, a car or budget for Uber/Lyft is recommended. With the exception of routes to The Strip and Downtown — which are very convenient — bus travel to other locations, requires translating routes and timetables which can be challenging without a smartphone. Late-night bus service is also limited. The location is convenient to all East End neighborhoods, Oakland, the Strip, and Downtown. By car or Uber/Lyft we are 5 minutes from Lawrencville, Shadyside, and East Liberty, 10 minutes from The Strip and Oakland, and 10-15 minutes from Downtown and the North Side. We live right on the 88 bus line that makes it super easy to get downtown and the strip district. The 87 and 86 lines that also run downtown are both a couple blocks away. Uber and Lyft are also active in Pittsburgh and we are excited that these services can help make transportation better for our guests!

Guests have shared access to the kitchen and laundry facilities. Oakland is the "brains" of Pittsburgh. It houses Carnegie Mellon University, University of Pittsburgh, Carlow University as well as the world-famous UPMC Medical Center. Our house is located within easy distance to all of these institutions. If that wasn't enough, we are also a stones throw from the Phipps Conservatory, Carnegie Museums and historic Carnegie Library. Stroll down to Oakland's main business district where you will find a vibrant mix of coffee shops, restaurants and bars. Pittsburgh has seen a "green revolution" over the past ten years. Make sure to get out on the river for a kayak paddle, hike one of our beautiful city parks (Schenley Park is just two blocks our house) or ride one of our riverfront bike trails. Our house has easy access for bus, bike or car to downtown. Many direct bus line stops are at the end of the street, taking you within minutes to Duquesne University and blocks from the convention center. Interaction with GuestsThis house is completely dedicated to Airbnb guests. We live just five blocks away and offer another room in our primary residence if you are looking for a more personal experience. The SpaceMy husband and I have been using AirBnB since 2010. We have stayed with hosts in Nicaragua, Costa Rica and too many States to count. We finally finished the renovation of our 1897 home and wanted to be part of the great AirBnB hosting experience. This large room is located on the second floor of a five bedroom house in the desirable Oakland area of Pittsburgh. Guests share a newly renovated bathroom with two other rooms. Whether you are in town for a conference, residency or an international exchange program at the university, this is the perfect choice. Guests share the kitchen and laundry facilities. Meet other interesting guests and get to know Pittsburgh. Oakland is the "brains" of Pittsburgh. It houses Carnegie Mellon University, University of Pittsburgh, Carlow University as well as the world-famous UPMC Medical Center. Our house is located within easy distance to all of these institutions. If that wasn't enough, we are also a stone’s throw from the Phipps Conservatory, Carnegie Museums and historic Carnegie Library. My husband bikes to work on the Southside and loves to show visitors how to get around the city on two wheels. We have an extra hybrid bike that you are more than welcome to use while you are here to take a tour. All guests will have access to the kitchen and laundry facilities. Coffee and tea is provided as well as basic breakfast goodies. We love to host and play ambassador for our lovely city! The Pitt/CMU shuttle stop is almost right outside our front door. Also there are buses at the end of the street that go directly downtown and to Duquesne University. Guest AccessGuests have access to a kitchen, living room and washer and dryer. Interaction with GuestsWe check in at the house every afternoon and provide daily cleaning service for the common areas. Coffee and tea is provided as well as basic breakfast goodies. We live in the neighborhood and are always available for questions about the house or fun places to visit in Pittsburgh. We love to host and play ambassador for our lovely city! Getting AroundThe Pitt/CMU shuttle stop is almost right outside our front door. Also there are buses at the end of the street that go directly downtown and to Duquesne University. Other Things to NoteJust as a clarification for new Airbnb users - our house does not provide a typical BnB experience. We offer clean comfortable rooms in a shared house with little to no interaction from us the host. Our space works well for grad students and doctors who are in town looking for a place to stay for a weekend or a month. If this environment work for you then we look forward to hosting you while you are in town.

I am happy to answer answer questions about Pittsburgh and provide recommendations both in advance and during your stay. Occasionally I am out-of-town in which case we will discuss arrangements for your arrival and I'm generally available by phone, text and email when I'm away. The NeighborhoodI have lived in my home since 2004. My neighborhood is East Allegheny and it is convenient to tons of Pittsburgh. Lots of guests come without a car and walk, bike and use public transit to get around. The neighborhood also has great highway access so it's a great spot if you have business around or outside of the city. My house is just half of a block off of a small business district street. This means you are two minute walk from the drug store, a couple ice cream spots, a few bars, a pastry shop, restaurants, and more. It also means you will hear folks leaving bars late at night, you will occasionally encounter people sitting on my stoop to take a break on a hot summer day, and you may notice buses at the very convenient bus stop. I'm also close to a major hospital so you will hear LifeFlight helicopters and ambulances a touch more than you are used to. This is an older and economically-diverse neighborhood so on the main drag, there are tons of folks who know each other and will stand around talking or holler across the street to a friend. Getting AroundThere is a lot of stuff in walking distance and a good number of buses. More details below. Only about half of my guests use a car while in town. What's within a five-minute walk of the house? -- bars and restaurants -- the grocery store (Giant Eagle) -- a gas station and convenience store (Sunoco) -- drug store (Rite-aid) -- bakery (Priory Fine Pastry -- pastry, donuts, middling coffee, panini) UBER and Lyft both serve Pittsburgh. (New to UBER or Lyft? Download the apps to your smartphone and for a discount on your first ride use the promo code of ericab561 when setting up your new UBER account or ERICA456376 when setting up your Lyft account) Very close to about a dozen bus lines. It's very easy to get to downtown (8 minutes), the Strip District (8 minutes), Oakland (25-30 minutes). Walking distance to: Northshore attractions: -- PNC Park (under a mile) -- Heinz Field (1.2 miles) -- Andy Warhol Museum (0.5 mile) -- Mattress Factory (installation art museum) (0.8 mile or bus) -- National Aviary (0.6 mile) -- Children's Museum (0.4 mile) -- Allegheny General Hospital (0.3 mile -- 5 minute walk!) -- Stage AE (1.1 miles) Downtown destinations: -- Convention Center (1 mile or bus) -- Omni William Penn Hotel (1.1 miles or bus) -- Wyndham Grand (1.2 miles or mostly by bus) -- Amtrak Station (1.1 miles or bus) -- Megabus drop off (0.9 mile or bus) -- Greyhound station (1.1 miles or bus) -- Market Square (1.2 miles or bus) -- Consol Energy Center (1.4 miles or partial bus) Other spots: -- Strip District (1.1 miles or bus) Need to go to Oakland? -- 30 minutes on the 54 bus -- picks up at the corner near my house -- 10 minute drive -- 3 miles on foot What's in Oakland? -- University of Pittsburgh -- Carnegie Museum of Art -- Carnegie Museum of Natural History (that's where all the dinosaurs are!) -- Carnegie Mellon University -- Legume/Butterjoint (one of my favorite restaurants) Airport transit options -- Lyft or Uber -- use your smartphone app; I think they're about $35 -- Taxi -- available at the taxi stand at the airport. About $50 including tip -- SuperShuttle -- see their website for details. I think you would schedule this in advance and that the cost is about $35 -- City bus -- the 28X serves the airport to downtown. I think the fee is $3.75 and is paid in cash upon entering the bus (bus driver does not make change). Exit the bus downtown and then either take a second bus to the the northside (if you are doing this, pay an extra $1 when you get on the 28X and ask for a transfer), or walk (about a mile), or take a cab ($7), uber or lyft
