The SpaceOff the beaten path...
Set up in the mountains of Rincon near Aguada and Añasco, the space is a one room (16' x 16' - not including deck or porch) cabin-style dwelling perfect for couples or the solo traveler looking to get away from the traditional tourist lifestyle. It offers relative isolation without any hiking or dangerous terrain to traverse. Also provided are basic amenities including: indoor toilet; small kitchenette with sink; one propane powered burner for cooking; coolers (with ice provided at checkin); outdoor (but private) shower are all included - making it possible to stay in the cabin for the duration of your stay if you wish (with trips to the nearby store here and there for more ice etc).
Then there's the bed - built up on a special platform, the bed is high enough to see directly out of all the windows and enjoy the spectacular view every morning and night - or whenever you feel like lounging!
You are renting the entire space which includes the cabin, deck, porch and all closely surrounding areas. You should expect privacy as no one else will be staying with you. The neighbors should also keep to themselves generally, and have been informed that guests are staying here. But they're mostly not even in view of the cabin from their homes, so again, expect privacy.
I will most likely be off-premises for most of your stay here. I will greet you, guide you in, get you set up, and be on-call for any emergencies. Otherwise, you have it to yourself!
Located in a rural area, there are only a couple of neighbors and, for the most part, you won't have any need to interact with them. The driveway passes a couple of houses and goes right by the nearest neighbor on the way into the cabin. Guest AccessAccessing the Shanty requires crossing one of my neighbor's property as there are no other routes to get there. You will most likely have to park roughly 50-75 yards from the Shanty. If it's particularly rainy, it can be a somewhat muddy walk in certain spots, but totally worth it for the view and experience!

The NeighborhoodLocated in a rural area, there are only a couple of neighbors and, for the most part, you won't have any need to interact with them. The one potential exception is the neighbor who's property you have to cross to get to the Shanty - it's just the way the land is, there's no other route. Generally guests will park on my neighbor's property and walk the short distance from there to the Shanty. If there are exceptions to this, I will explain when I check you in. Getting AroundIf you're staying here, you'll most likely have a rental car - that will need to be your primary (only) method of transportation around here. But I am guessing you'll want to stay in the cabin most of the time so getting around isn't really the point.
There are a couple of small stores nearby with food and random household stuffs should you need them. Also there are a couple of restaurants nearby. Other Things to NoteWater - we run off of a gravity-fed system with a main 400 gallon storage tank and a smaller 60 gallon tank that is what you will be pulling from. The smaller tank will be filled before each renting so you should have sufficient water for dishes, toilet flushing, and showering. Please be reasonably conservative with the water as it doesn't have unlimited supply. This means: fewer flushes and shorter showers where possible. If your water stops, notify us immediately and we'll see to it for you. Please do not attempt to remedy yourself! Drinking water is supplied in gallon jugs in the refrigerator.
Electricity - At present, the house has only recently been re-connected to electricity and not all of the outlets and light fixtures are live yet. Currently, all of the power is on the back wall where the refrigerator is. There are sufficient outlets to plug in 3 additional items, but feel free to bring a power strip if you need more outlets.
Wildlife - This is a cabin set in a pretty nature-rich setting, but overall, you will be left alone. The primary exception - at least visually, as they won't harm you - are the lizards and geckos. They are all around during the day. Mostly outside, but definitely here and there inside, too. They eat insects and keep out of your way. At night, most of them go away but one has taken to patrolling around the one major light that's inside to get his nightly meal in. Other than that, we do our best to keep ants and other insects at bay. Let us know if you spot any large numbers of ants indoors.
Other animals - the only other animals you might expect to see are the neighbors' dogs and/or horses. The horses may come somewhat close to the cabin, but still generally keep a respectful distance. The dogs generally cross the property on their daily walks they take. We discourage feeding any of the animals as we don't want them to get used to approaching the cabin for food - especially the dogs!
