This beautiful townhouse, located in the historic district, is just 3 short blocks from downtown Beaufort. Walk to the Waterfront Park, downtown shops, galleries or a variety of restaurants. Little need for a car. Our home is located on a published walking tour route of the historic and downtown areas, and horse-drawn carriage tours come within 100 ft of the house. As an end unit, it's a lot more private and airy than other townhouses. Bedrooms: The house can sleep six comfortably, with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Two bedrooms are upstairs and one is on the ground floor. The large master bedroom has a queen bed; it also has a single size sleep sofa. The second bedroom has 2 single beds. The ground floor has a bedroom with a very comfortable queen sleep sofa (Tiffany 24/7 Mechanism). If not needed as a bedroom, this room doubles as a den/ office and has a working fireplace. Bathrooms: We have recently renovated our upstairs bathroom (not shown in pictures) to make it more spacious. The master bathroom has his & hers sinks as well as a shower/ tub. The downstairs bath has a shower. Washer & dryer are upstairs for convenience. Living room: The front door leads into a large living room decorated with a coastal theme. The large bay window gives a spacious feeling. Relax in cushioned wicker chairs and sofa. We’ve decorated with pictures and artwork from many places. Kitchen and eating area: The kitchen is small, but fully equipped and has all appliances. The dining table seats 8. Deck & backyard: A large deck is great for entertaining or just relaxing. The backyard is fenced and surrounded by trees to provide security and a sense of privacy. You will love our back yard patio with its fire ring (well stocked with fire wood.) Parking is off-street in a dedicated space behind the townhouse. The parking area and back are well-lighted with several streetlights. Additional guest spaces are available, as well as a free parking lot across the street. Entertainment and communications: The townhouse has DirecTV with two TVs (one is HD). High speed internet is available with a wireless router. Our home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood with private off-street parking. In additions, we feel extra secure because of the 3 streetlights in the back. Walk, jog, or ride bikes through this historic area to see nearby historic churches, beautiful homes, and tree-lined streets. Extra parking is available in the free municipal parking lot just next door. Launch a boat in the Intracoastal Waterway at two near-by public ramps: Beaufort City Marina Landing or Pigeon Point Landing. For parents of Parris Island Marine Corps graduates, our townhouse is a great place for you to relax with your graduating Marine. It is located just under 6 miles (10 minutes) from the entrance to US Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Being a military family, we offer a discount to family of graduating Marine Corps recruits. If your coming to see the ceremonies at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, our home is a convenient location to both downtown and Parris Islance. The map show the location of our townhouse in Beaufort and can be adjusted to show the route to Parris Island down Ribaut Road through the town of Port Royal. Discount for families of Marines graduating from Parris Island is 15%. Cleaning service on departure is $100 and is not taxable. Smoking is allowed only outdoors. With owners prior permission, a pet are allowed with a one time fee of $60 (minimum). Pet fee is more for additional pets. In all cases, damages or extra cleaning will be deducted from the damage deposit. Rates are subject to change until payment is received. About the owner: With roots in South Carolina, we have spent most of our careers outside the South. Ed was in the military and Mary taught at the elementary school level. We have vacationed on the South Carolina coast for as long as we can remember. When we discovered Beaufort and the sea islands, we knew this was the place. We are eager to be back and bought this townhouse as a vacation home. We are offering our vacation home to others. We are new to offering a listing on VRBO, but have used it many times as vacationers. Why the Owner Chose Beaufort: For several summers, we visited the Beaufort area and stayed in different locations (e.g., Ladys Island, Port Royal, Parris Island Gateway area, Pigeon Point, and near downtown.) We discovered that nothing beats the convenience and simplicity of being so close to downtown and the waterfront. When crowded events occur along the waterfront, we never have to worry about parking (or a designated driver ). Shopping, restaurants, strolling the marina, the public library, and the Post Office are all just a few blocks away. You might be able to avoid driving all week, except for all the adventures waiting in the surrounding South Carolina Sea Islands. For day trips, try locations such as Charleston, Savannah, Hilton Head, or Walterboro. If you're going towards Charleston, we really enjoyed the Charleston Tea Plantation; it was fun taking the tour and learning how tea is grown and produced. Walterboro is a favorite place both for its antique shops and its artists' shops. The Unique Benefits at this Townhome: Our townhouse is an end unit - which we particularly like. Extra windows on the side give it a more spacious feel with lots of light. The raised deck is our favorite space because it is a natural extension of the living space and because the tall lattice fence and trees give a real feeling of privacy. In addition, the back yard (56 x 30 ft) is fully enclosed. The neighborhood is very quiet. Surrounded by churches (Episcopal, Presbyterian, Baptist), Sunday morning is the only time when it's busy. During the week, the only interruptions are the hourly church bells from St Helena's Episcopal Church (but only during the day.)

        house
        2br house
This house was originally built on the Marine base at Parris Island as a barrack. It was moved to Pigeon Point Road in the 1950's where it was converted to a residential home. We purchased it from that location in 2001 and moved to it's present one. It's original size was only 14' by 42 ' and the design is commonly referred to as a 'shotgun house' -- long and narrow. Upon it's arrival we began major renovation immediately adding two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's evolution continued as we could manage with a second major change occurring in 2008 to accommodate our aging parents. More space and comfort was created by adding two bays to the living area. A a gas fireplace was installed in one bay to enhance the sitting area; the other bay provides a nice dinning area with floor to ceiling windows overlooking a flower garden and bird feeders. A walk-in shower was added to one of the baths and the screened porch on the back side of the house was expanded for outdoor seating. A coat closet was added in the hallway between the kitchen and dining room and doubles for extra linen storage. The home is now a full functioning house with roomy cathedral ceilings, ceiling fans and heart-pine flooring throughout -- complete with an authentic claw-foot bathtub just off the master bedroom. Each room is painted a yummy color compatible with the lowcountry surroundings which include a special installation of Eric's oversize lowcountry photographs on the walls - ever reminding guests of the extraordinary wildlife and natural scenics that surround them. Most people who walk in the front door for the first time fall in love with it. Pet Fees $10 per pet per day Local hospitality tax 10% This house, built on Paris Island and later moved to Pigeon Point road, now sits next door to our own home. We moved it here when it was in pretty sad shape but we could see it's potential. We wanted to fix it up into something special. A house different from all the rest - but would blend well in he neighborhood. The remodel was a labor of love and not without it's challenges as older homes can surprise you - once you strip it down to the bones. After it's initial remodel, we have rented the house long term, sold it, bought it back again for my parents to enjoy in their senior years, and now that they have moved on, we have refurnished the interior and made it suitable solely for vacation rental for guests, family and friends. The house is designed to offer the comfort of home, easy to easy to relax and return to after a day of adventure exploring the classic southern lifestyle. From beach, golf, tennis and nature preserves, to city life in Beaufort, 30 minutes to discount shopping in Bluffton, 60 minutes to Hilton Head, Savannah, or Charleston... the choices are truly exciting. And everybody who stays here have complimented us on the accommodations, both internal with easy access to so much ...within walking distance or an easy drive. In the neighborhood, we are walking and biking distance to three parks, downtown shopping and dining in historic Beaufort, public tennis courts, two public boat landings and simply amazing water and marsh views. The drive to the beach is only 20 minutes to Hunting Island State Park where family picnic sites, surfing and swimming and hiking trails through the maritime forest are plentiful. There are many courses for golfers to choose beginning in Beaufort to neighboring Bluffton or onward 60 minutes away to world class golf on Hilton Head. We think we have the perfect vacation package for the whole family including pets with a dog park a dog's walk away.

The SpaceOur rental is perfect for guests wanting to "test drive" the lifestyle of the Lowcountry, of Beaufort in particular, and in a New Urbanist community. The space is approximately 500 square feet, separated into a living/dining space, a bedroom, and a kitchenette/bathroom. The living area has ample seating, and the dining table can seat up to four comfortably. A large plasma TV with DishTV serves both the living space and, when doors are open, the bedroom. The bedroom has a beautiful pillow-topped queen bed, and can be made up with two inflatable twin mattresses to accommodate additional guests. The kitchenette offers a sink, toaster, coffee maker, and microwave as well as any dishes, glasses, and cutlery you may need. We provide any linens you may need during your stay as well. The SpacePRICE INCLUDES LOCAL 10% HOSPITALITY TAX--This house was originally built on the Marine base at Parris Island as a barrack. Its evolution continued as we could manage with a second major change occurring in 2008 to accommodate our aging parents. More space and comfort was created by adding two bays to the living area and 2 walk-in closets. A gas fireplace was installed in one bay to enhance the sitting area; the other bay provides a nice dinning area with floor to ceiling windows overlooking a flower garden and bird feeder. A walk-in shower was added to one of the baths and the screened porch on the back side of the house was expanded for outdoor seating. A coat closet was added in the hallway between the kitchen and dining room and doubles for extra linen storage. The home is now a full functioning house with roomy cathedral ceilings, ceiling fans and heart-pine flooring throughout -- complete with authentic claw-foot bathtub just off the master bedroom. Each room is painted color- compatible with the lowcountry surroundings which includes an installation of Eric's oversize lowcountry photographs throughout - ever reminding guests of the extraordinary wildlife and natural scenics of the region. Interaction with GuestsAs requested only. The NeighborhoodQuiet, natural setting, great for walking, biking - short distance to public boat landing, historic district, park, restaurants and shopping.
