The SpaceHighly ranked Airbnb Superhosts. Our reviews speak for themselves. Featured in the Life section of the Knoxville News Sentinel, in KnoxZine magazine, and in the Memphis Commercial Appeal. Enjoy home away from home in this gorgeous Arts and Crafts mansion. Gourmet breakfast, in room coffee bar, pool (seasonally). A private, Arts and Crafts styled bedroom with hotel quality bedding. Hall bath. Wifi, billiard room--Approved B&B by City. Beautiful Arts and Crafts bungalow featured on the cover of Old House Journal, Sept-Oct 2009. The home previously belonged to noted bluegrass musician Curly Dan Bailey, a radio announcer and bluegrass artist who played in the Grand Ol' Opry and toured with Dolly Parton. We even have a letter from Dolly about the house, which Danny purchased in 1965, the same year Dolly went to Nashville. The house also features original artwork by Doug's great uncle, John Alan Maxwell, including original paintings Maxwell did for John Steinbeck and Pearl S. Buck. We are happy to adapt a breakfast menu for you, be it kosher, gluten free, allergen-specific, non-dairy, vegetarian, paleo, or pre- or post-race food. Just let us know in advance and we will design a breakfast just for you. We use organic foods as much as possible without going crazy about it. We love our guests. We have been Airbnb hosts since January, and can unequivocally report that our Airbnb experience has been utterly amazing. Our guests are the coolest. We've met actors, organic farmers, photographers, international travelers, college moms, business professionals and retirees, and we just want to thank each and every one of them for allowing us to host. A note about pets: We are dog friendly, but DO NOT instant book if you are coming with your dog/s. You must inquire first about bringing your furry family members. We do not accept cats. For those with allergies, please note we do have a small cocker spaniel dog and one cat. If you have severe allergies, we would encourage you to book with another Airbnb. The SpaceA private room with a private bath as well. Room features a queen sized memory foam mattress with two large windows that maximize the best morning natural light. Most people say that the combo of that mattress and the golden light makes for the best night of sleep they've ever had. That's no lie! Bathroom features a whirlpool tub/shower and a good sized window for more natural light! Both rooms are located in the upstairs hallway that has its own door that can be shut for more privacy while showering, etc. My bedroom is downstairs in the basement level so bed/bath privacy is maximized for guests in this house! Guest AccessWhen you're staying, please feel free to come and go as you please. You'll have your own key and there are no curfews or business hours, etc. Also, the kitchen and and other common areas are available to you as if they were your own. Just clean up after yourself as you would in your own home. Many guests set up for work at the kitchen table and there is also a study room with a desk that is available to you, as well. There is also a washer/dryer downstairs in the basement that are available if needed. I also have a full garage so, if you're bringing bikes or other outdoors equipment that is too big to bring into the house, you're more than welcome to make use of that space. Interaction with GuestsGenerally, I leave the level of interaction up to you. I really love meeting new people and learning about what you're up to, trading adventure stories and hearing about where you're headed next but if you'd rather keep to yourself, I have no issues with that at all. For you outdoorsy kids, I'm a avid trail runner/cyclist so I'm more than willing to help you make a plan of what you'd like to do/see while in Knoxville if you're looking to get in some outdoorsy playtime. Aside from the Smokies, there are many local outdoor attractions that shouldn't be missed while in the area to include numerous urban trails and parks that are great for MTB and trail running! Also, this area offers some of the best hiking on the east coast. If you're interested on some tips, don't hesitate to ask! For you (URL HIDDEN) place offers easy access to the Obed and I've had several couples come through who took advantage of the climbing access located there. Truly, I encourage you to make this the basecamp for all of your East Tennessee adventures! The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is an older urban community - most homes were built in the 50's and many of the residents of this neighborhood have been here for 40 years or more. It's an old urban block in the Old North Knox with lots of really old trees and an amazing view of the mountains on a clear morning. My house is 2 miles from the Old City (7 mins), 3 miles from downtown (10 mins) and 4 miles from the campus of the University of Tennessee (15 mins). Getting AroundThe best way to get around is by bike. With very easy back roads to funnel you into downtown, it takes nearly the same amount of time (when you include parking) to get to downtown by bike as it does by car. :) Other Things to NoteI can pretty much accommodate any arrival time after 2pm. Just let me know and we'll work something out.

The SpaceThis is a private residence where I live, not a business investment solely for Airbnb. I have only one room on Airbnb. Point being - you will not be staying with other random guests. Your bathroom is across the hall and is mostly private, meaning I will mostly shift to another when you are here to make things easier. The winter of 2012/2013 the home was featured on the Knoxville Holiday Home Tour where 1,600 people came through. It was insane, and awesome. Guest AccessYou will have a key to the front door. Interaction with GuestsI will interact with you as much as you like. I would be happy to point you in the direction of cool places to see and eat. I LOVE Knoxville and want you to enjoy your stay. I will definitely be in town, but may not be here all the time. Guests are welcome to help themselves to breakfast (coffee, espresso, bread, cereal, granola, oatmeal, jam, milk, eggs...). Also welcome to utilize the kitchen. I get up early for work during the week so you may or may not see me. I will furnish bath towels and sheets. The NeighborhoodNeighborhood is called Old North Knoxville. It is a historical neighborhood with homes mostly from the early 20th century. Getting AroundThere is semi-convenient public transport from downtown to my neighborhood. Public transport other than to downtown is more challenging but doable. Uber and Taxis are an option. Other Things to NoteI can handle five guests, but only if at least one is a kid. Two will be on an bed, two on an airbed, and the fifth on a back-packers sleeping pad. You all will be TIGHT in that room. I have an electric vehicle charging station if you need it.

The SpaceYou'll enjoy thorough privacy, quiet and comfort in our spacious open-plan townhouse. We've furnished and decorated it with serenity, efficiency, and a touch of luxury in mind. Including the California king-size master bed, the full-size spare-room bed, the World's Most Comfortable Couch in the living room and the twin-size inflatable bed, there's more than enough room for 6 people. Everyone who visits seems to have something wonderful to say about our place, and we hope you will, too. Guest AccessFully-equipped gourmet kitchen. Laundry room with washer, dryer. Interaction with GuestsUp to you, but the whole place is yours while you're our guests. The NeighborhoodOur place sits on top of a hill in a new and growing development of townhouses. We're in West Knoxville but minutes from downtown. There's a beautiful view of the Great Smoky Mountains from the front door and backyard, yet we are centrally located and close to everything else ... greenways, shopping, good local restaurants, theaters, the downtown scene, and the University of Tennessee. Getting AroundYou'll enjoy private parking and the use of the garage. McGhee-Tyson Airport is an easy 15-20 minute drive south. Taxis are available but great public transit is not one of Knoxville's attractions. :-) There is some nearby bus access, however, and the city's network of greenways affords excellent cycling, walking & running routes. The SpaceYou will have your own private basement apartment with a separate entrance. Just outside your door is a wooden swing, chair, and small table to relax. Your living area is cozy with a couch and chairs which faces a fireplace. I am sorry to say, it is not functional, but adds warmth to the area. There is a large kitchen with dishes, pots, pans, microwave, refrigerator, etc. I think you will have everything you need to cook and eat in for the evening. You will also have a Keurig coffee maker for your morning coffee. If you are needing a specific item, you are very welcome to ask to see if I have it upstairs for you to borrow. Your bathroom is small but includes a vanity with large mirror, toilet and a steam shower with massage and radio. I think you will like this shower! Your bedroom has a lovely antique double bed and dresser with mirror. I think you will feel right at home here. The room next to the bedroom, has an antique twin bed with a bed side table, lamp, and dresser. It is a small room without a window, but perfect for the extra privacy. It is much better than me setting the bed up in the hallway (This is what I used to do if the extra bed was needed). Linens, blankets, and towels are included in your stay. Guest AccessYou will have access to our wireless internet. There is a Smart TV in your living room which as cable TV. Please don't hesitate to ask for specifics. I will be happy to accommodate you the best I can. Interaction with GuestsI love meeting new people but understand you will be exhausted when you arrive. Since we have separate entrances, we will not run into each other unless you have questions. I would love to answer any questions you have about Knoxville or the surrounding area. If not, I will leave you alone to enjoy yourself. The NeighborhoodMy home is in a quiet, centrally located neighborhood minutes away from West Town Mall, Downtown Knoxville, West Knox Library, Lakeshore Park, and over 60 restaurants and shops. Getting AroundYou will be able to park in my driveway. The Knoxville busline (KAT) is 2 minutes from my house. East Tennessee has lots to offer. We are 10 minutes from downtown Knoxville, 6 miles to UT Campus, and 40 miles from the Pigeon Forge. We have fabulous lakes and parks to visit and festivals throughout the year. Other Things to NoteDon't hesitate to ask if you can check in earlier or check out later. If I am not getting ready for another guest, I don't mind you staying longer. I think you will have everything you need, if not, don't hesitate to ask me. I would like for your stay to be comfortably and pleasant. I do have cats that are indoor/outdoor that live upstairs. They are not allowed in the apartment. The apartment has always been pet free. Sometimes I forget to tell about the light switch for the kitchen, so I'll say it here. The light switch for the kitchen is located in the living room area on the wall above the chair.
