The SpaceThis intriguing 2.5 story house is located on 900 North Hill Country acres of nature's beauty. The serene setting is great to unwind and relax from all the stresses of city life.
Guests are greeted by the happy tortoise sculpture at the entrance to Kasa Casa, turtle house. (Kasa means turtle in Swahili). This custom designed (by a yacht builder and tinkerer), 2.5 story house has 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. The first floor features a full size kitchen, outdoor eating area, a breakfast table indoors, sitting area, spa area, half bath and laundry room. The second floor features the Sunshine Room, with a door to the deck, windows facing east and a skylight for star-gazing, a sitting area with a wood burning stove, bathroom with shower, and balcony. There is a ship's staircase into the 'Crow's Nest' off the second floor sitting area. The Crow's nest is lined with windows, and has a porthole window to capture the moon behind the bed. There is also a single futon in the upper living area.
On property many trails are awaiting those who like to hike with interesting destinations awating them.
Wifi is available throughout the house. There are no TV's in the house to distract from rediscovering nature.
Additional amenities that may be added are in room massage, nature walks with a naturalist, catering or in house cooking services and guided tours of the amazing Fossil Rim. Advanced notice and additional fees apply.
A retreat for men, a retreat for women, weddings, yoga workshops, additional facilities are available for rental for larger groups. Check out our larger 5 bedroom 2 bath house, Habari, and our remote, cliffside house, Mata'Zamo.
The ranch is recognized as a sanctuary and natural conservancy.
*additional guests may be added for additional charge Guest AccessKasa Casa, like all three of our rental homes, is on our main 990 acre tract, nestled within our 1,125 acres that share fencelines with Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. You will have the house to yourself, and access to our 20 plus mile of hiking trails. Our goal is to make you feel as though you have a family getaway in the country.
Kasa Casa is our only guest house where you may see zebra and giraffes along the fenceline! Our yoga studio (available for an extra charge) and labyrinth (free to all guests!) are just outside the door.
We only rent this as a guest house, so you have total access to the house, and all to yourselves. There is a covered porch, patio and sundeck, garden area with a bench and flagstones, outdoor showers, an indoor, built in hot tub and infrared spa. Interaction with GuestsWe greet each guest when they arrive, lead you to your house, show you around, have you sign our release, and if you have kids along, we'll do a safety pledge or contract activity with them.
After that, we are only around if you call us or need us! While there is always someone on property or nearby, we like to give you your space so that you can feel like you are visiting the old family ranch!
Let us know if you want a guided tour, nature walk, challenging cross-country hike, catered meals, massage therapy or other special treats and we'll send you a quote through AirBnB's special offer, or figure out a way to do it when you get here! The NeighborhoodWe love our ranch! Not only can we be surrounding by open spaces with no signs of neighbors, but living near Glen Rose can be a bit like living in Mayberry.....with some saltier characters as the original settlers! And, when we need something in the big city, we are 40 minutes from Granbury and an hour from Ft Worth (via the new Chisholm Trail Parkway!) Getting AroundAny vehicle can get you to your house, but it is at the end of an almost mile long gravel driveway! There is plenty of parking, including two covered parking spots. Other Things to NoteWe do allow dogs and other pets, as long as they are protected from fleas and ticks, and won't bother the wildlife or ranch animals. For their protection we do require they be on leashes when outside and on the upper deck (we had a friend's dog decide to chase a deer from the upper deck, she was okay, but scared us watching her try to fly off the deck!).
We have a German Shepard and two cats in residence (but not in the guest houses!), cattle, goats and their guard donkey, Zoe also roam the ranch. Chances are you'll see deer, roadrunners, armadillos, squirrels, lots of wild birds and other native wildlife like quail, turkey, coyote, fox and bobcats. We have had some rare sightings of mountain lion and have seen tracks and scat of feral hogs.
