The SpaceThis home was built to support space program workers and contractors, so it is very close to JSC, Clear Lake, Kemah Boardwalk, and would be a great half-way point to and from Galveston for Mardis Gras and other events. The four poster queen sized bed is a dream. There is a writing desk, a recliner with lamp for reading, bed, nightstand, and coffee station. There is a small private refrigerator. There is a Bose sound system for your listening pleasure. There is a full sized walk-in closet in the room, with plenty of hangers, an ironing board and iron. I provide two international voltage converters. The patio has seating for two and a garden with night lighting. There is a full vanity in the bathroom with three full drawers, a hair dryer and nice fluffy towels. There is also a cabinet with shelves for storing your things, and a private safe.
The home has been completely renovated with hardwood floors and a completely renovated bath/shower/jacuzzi with all the room you need to settle in. There are blackout drapes if you are burning the midnight oil or adjusting to a different time-zone.
I know how important connectivity is so wifi access is available for your entire stay.
The grounds are beautifully landscaped and it is a great place to walk/run with paved pathways and tennis courts at a walkable nearby park.
The development that I am in is extremely quiet. At night, there almost no ambient light and is very quiet. It was designed this way. So it is a great place to sleep, but also a great place to connect to easy freeway access and weekend events.
It is a very safe area, as it is mostly suburban. I encourge you to walk at night to local restaurants, across the street. And by the way, for you thrift shoppers, come with an empty suitcase as there is a killer thrift store walking distance from the house!
There really isn't any public transport, but I will be getting bikes for guest use. There are some great bike paths in the area, that you will be able to enjoy and the rental of the bikes will be $10 per day. I will provide locks so you can park safely.
There are three patios on my home, so if you want to enjoy breakfast outside, and the weather permits, you are welcome to. Guest AccessYou will have access to your own private meditation garden patio, and enter and exit through a private gate and entrance, so come and go as you need to.
The kitchen will be available until 10:30 each day for coffee and breakfast. I will provide the essentials for a simple meal. Cereal, milk, fruit, yogurt, and an assortment of breads to get your day going.
You will have your own coffee and tea station in your room, so you needn't worry about the kitchen unless you want to. Please write to me as I am happy to answer questions ahead of time.
The home is on two levels and I live on the second level. There won't be any reason to come upstairs. If you would like to have access to the rest of the downstairs of the house, I will need to provide you with custom pricing for this, as all of the amenities of a normal home are available in that part of my home.
Cable and Apple TV with surround sound and loads of good reading on my book shelves are there to share if you share the downstairs. So, again, that will have to be priced on as needed basis and I would assume be a question for longer term visitors.
For those visiting in the warmer months, there is a lovely pool and I can work out access to the pool for sunning and swimming, as it is lock-gated for security. I also have a private patio in the center of the house for private sunbathing and an outdoor shower for your comfort. These would all be options if you opt for access to the entire house.
If you need to park indoors, it can be arranged, but there will be a $10 a day fee, for in out access to the garage. Interaction with GuestsI will be happy to get you oriented, and am certainly always available by text, but I assume that you are here for a purpose, not to visit me, so I will leave you on your own, unless you ask me for help or have questions. The NeighborhoodThis neighborhood was set up to support individuals that were working for the space program. It is very eco centric, and since the space program is winding down, it is in the process of an identity shift. Due to it's close proximity to Clear Lake, it is a great pivot point for Kemah, and Galveston activities.
There is yoga by car, and lots of places to eat within walking distance including a brand new Cajun restaurant, Vietnamese soup kitchen, fabulous Sushi, and many other options nearby. Getting AroundThere isn't really public transit in this part of the city, except for bus service into town, which is about a ten minute drive from my home, with plenty of parking to leave your car for a trip into the city to visit museums, shop and enjoy the night life of Houston.
I will be purchasing two fat tire bikes for rental for $10 a day. There are lots of local bike trails that you can enjoy, and I will provide a lock to secure the bike when you park.
I will also have an in-room safe for your valuables to make sure that you feel comfortable when you leave that your things are secure. The home has a security system and smoke alarms, so we will need to coordinate to make sure that the alarm isn't accidentally triggered. Other Things to NoteI am a seasoned traveler, so I have tried to include as many amenities that you might need to make your stay as comfortable and worry free as possible. Don't pack shampoo, conditioner, lotions, q-tips, cotton balls, hair spray, razors, floss, or any of the other incidentals that you might be bringing for personal hygiene.
My housekeeper comes on Thursdays, so if you want your space cleaned and sheets changed, please let me know, so that I can arrange access to the room.
