From 1887 until 1987, the Old Borunda Cafe served both locals and movie stars alike, including James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor during the filming of Giant. Now home to the corner stores including Cobra Rock Boot Company, Smilebooth and Cast & Crew. Corte del Norte is a great location. Corte del Norte has been designed by Jamey Garza and Constance Holt Garza of Garza Furniture. The love house has two bedrooms one bath along with media room, lounge and a kitchen. Sleeps 5 (daybed, 2 queen beds). The property also offers a dining shed, pergola, fire pit, and stock tank pool. Event fees apply for parties of 10 or more. This is a great place for groups/weddings/events. Inquire for event pricing. Three night minimum for holidays and special event weekends. Other food trucks are available Pizza Foundation is fantastic but only open on weekends. Dinner: Make reservations now at both Cochineal, Stellina and LaVenture in the Hotel Saint George or Jetts Grill in the Paisano hotel. Tours: Book the short (2 hour) guided Chinati tour – worth it to understand marfa. The Judd “block” tour is fun (judd’s home) every afternoon. Book in advance: Chinati through Chinati Foundation and the Block through the Judd Foundation. They both have a variety of tours. These are just my personal favorites. Shopping: Freda (tiny and funky) Mirth (almost everything from Japan - exquisite...some local artists work too) Garza Marfa - (furniture and textiles) Cast & Crew - mid century modern furniture Marfa brand soap Cobra Rock Boot company – they are in Levi’s boutiques El Cosmico and Thunderbird have tiny, cool gift shops Galleries: Just walk around. Don’t miss the $40Million worth of Andy Warhols (down the street from Mayias). High quality minimal art go to 2D gallery and Inde Villis. Wrong is a great gallery as well. Artist will often open their studios if you want to buy. Random: Many movies have been filmed in Marfa: Giant, There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, Dancer Texas, etc. However, one is a must if you want to take the #1 National Geographic drive. It¹s Kevin Costner¹s first movie. Fandango. It¹s a coming of age movie about a group of friends that graduate from UT and the next morning they leave to go dig up the bottle of DOM they buried after High School graduation out in West Texas. It's an hour and half drive there. I highly discourage you from going across the border. The drive through Pinto Canyon (FM 2810) is amazing. If you go far enough (2 hours) you'll make it to the Hot Springs - fun! We have a miniature whole foods called The Get Go. It¹s essentially across the street from Corte del Norte. And a liquor store (used to be called El Cheapo and then they sold it and renamed it). I refuse to call it anything but El Cheapo. It's now called Celebration. The best coffee is across from The Get Go in The Lumberyard it¹s called Do Your Thing Coffee. And they have toast in the a.m. too. Other Things to NoteWe try to keep you stocked with Big Bend Coffee Roasters coffee. Even though we try to keep our pantries and fridges empty we know it's hard to buy for just a weekend so help yourself to any food or beverages in the house. The outdoor light switch is on the outdoor wall of the Love House. This is a great spot for events however we do require special arrangements including an additional deposit and fees. Arrangements are to be made in advance. No smoking.

The SpaceThe house is designed as a restful and beautiful artist's retreat, and a place of calm for travelers. Hang out, make cocktails, and cook outside at the end of a day of sightseeing. The home is beautifully decorated with modern and antique furnishings and the kitchen is fully equipped. There are lots of books in the house and a large flat-screen TV with a Roku and DVD player for your viewing pleasure. Equipped with central air and heat (unlike many houses in Marfa), W/D. (No D/W.) There's a patio and front porch for resting and relaxing and grilling and eating outside under the night sky. The house is on the west side of town, walking distance to the bookstore and Cochineal and Maiya's, or a two-minute drive or bike ride in. I am a writer who lives in Brooklyn most of the time, but there's a property manager in town. One note: the third bedroom, which has a twin bed, connects to the second bedroom. So while the house can accommodate 5, it might be most comfortable for a family with a kid, or friends who don't mind a "railroad" bedroom. Or a fifth guest who doesn't mind the sofa or air mattress. A great place to stay when visiting with friends or looking for a quiet place to work. Come enjoy all Marfa has to offer, and then rest and restore yourself here! Gorgeous sunsets most night. Easy bike ride to the center of town. Getting AroundThere are 2 bikes at the house and bikes for rent down the road. It's an easy ride to the main street. (.4 mile) or a 10 minute walk. Other Things to NotePlease note: there is no central heat. There are silent 3 high-efficiency, new space heaters, 1 in each bedroom and 1 in Living Room. The walls are adobe and the place holds heat very well, so well that I keep the bedroom heaters on low or off at night and off in the day. You can leave them on high the whole time, whatever suits you, but just FYI. Even when it drops to the 20's at night, it generally is in the 60's in the day in Marfa.

The den has a large metal desk for writing and a daybed (2 twin-sized mattresses) for lounging, guests or naps. Peruse one of the many books or games or use the yoga mat to contemplate the vastness of West Texas landscape. You'll find a chef's herb garden growing and a well-stocked kitchen (with good knives, electric kettle, coffee, wine glasses and saucepans) to brew a morning cup and plan your day. It's tranquil and serene. Hear frogs in Alameda creek if it rains, and the night sky will blow your mind. The Cortez family lived in Adobe Chi (ch'i) for decades. Mr. Cortez was a magician, and the house has a magical feel. Please remember to pack WARM. Marfa is usually the coldest spot in Texas and evening temps dip LOW. We are on the southeast side of town which is the least developed part of Marfa due to the MacGuire ranch and its huge expanse of land. Adobe Chi is two blocks (or less) from the Get Go, Ballroom Marfa, Do Your Thing coffee, The Lumberyard, Hotel St George, Saturday Farm Stand, Marfa Burrito, Cochineal, Gallery 2D, Freda, Inde/Jacobs Gallery, Marfa Public Radio, Marfa Brands, Wrong, Cast/Crew, Cobra Rock Boots, USO Visitor Center and everything else that is Marfa, yet it's on the edge of town with unobstructed views that go on and on and on... Getting AroundAdobe Chi is a great launching pad for drives into Big Bend, Ft. Davis, Alpine, McDonald Observatory, Chinati Hot Springs and much, much more in Far West Texas. The SpaceThe Loft at The Lumberyard is a unique and uniquely Marfan place to stay right smack in the middle of everything in town. It comfortably sleeps two and there's a fold down couch for an extra guest. In the same compound as Do Your Thing coffee, directly across the street from our gourmet natural food store and wine shop, The Get Go Grocery, as well as Ballroom Marfa, one block from The Pizza Foundation, The Lost Horse Saloon and Marfa National Bank, and within two blocks of Cochineal Restaurant, City Hall, Marfa Hardware Store, Stripes Convenience Store, and much more -- it really is the ideal location in town (make sure to check addresses of listings that say "walking distance"). The Loft itself was one half of the lumber storage building at the old Corder Lumberyard and Hardware store that existed for decades in Marfa, which is now converted to an art studio, workshop, loft and theater space "The Lumberyard"). The Lumberyard is being renovated from the inside out so the compound has a working-man aesthetic. The stylings inside the loft are minimalist-industrial. The spine (the ceiling joists, loft structure) was built around instead of removed. You can see where the racks were pulled apart and the wood re-purposed (for the balcony and the Do Your Thing kitchen counter, for example). Many of the fixtures and touches are built with black pipe from the Corder Lumber and Hardware store. The large metal casements windows are from the site. The tables where built on site. The red Mexican cement tiles in the bathroom and shower were on site. And all of the art was created in Marfa, most on site. The mattress is a brand new all-natural memory foam and the linens are excellent. The couch is a fold down if you have an extra guest. There's a speaker system to plug your iPod or computer into and a record player with a few records. The WIFl is robust*. You have your own private entrance in the alley and you can unload directly in front of the unit. Currently there are three painters, a fashion designer, an architect, an interior designer, a writer and a filmmaker using workspaces in the Lumberyard compound. Your balcony is over the courtyard where they come to work and from it you can see Cathedral Mountain to the SE and far across the McGuire Ranch South towards Mexico. Do You Thing coffee is operates out of The Lumberyard . Symphonic, ecstatic, coffee. The giant courtyard and shade structure can fit hundreds for events, making The Lumberyard an all-inclusive place to meet, eat, throw a party and sleep right in the middle of town. Email for event pricing. *100MBs per second through fiber optic in the south side (where the bed is) but slower on the North because it has to travel through Adobe from next door. Because I'm using an access point I've had trouble connecting a range extender to it. So if you must surf the net from the couch at the north end of the loft, it may be intermittent. The SpaceWe purchased Tumbleweed House in 2013 and have taken great care in the remodel. It has a fully equipped open kitchen with 6 burner gas stove, an extra long dining table, a stocked Nespresso machine, and a Tivoli radio set to KRTS, Marfa's very own and much beloved public radio station. The bathroom is all new with a new claw foot tub. There is a washer and dryer available to guests staying a week or more. The kitchen and bedroom open up to a spacious and private backyard that is perfect for relaxing or viewing the night sky. The bedroom features a comfortable queen sized bed. There is a TV in the bedroom with access to Netflix and Hulu via the Apple TV. Sorry, no live TV. Tumbleweed house is suitable for one or two adults only, please no children or pets. We live just a few blocks away and are often able to greet our guests in person. Tumbleweed House is located in a quiet neighborhood on the west side of town. Everything is close to everything here. Interaction with GuestsWe live just a few blocks away and if we are in town, we love to greet our guests in person. Tumbleweed House is also the home of Don't Fence Me In, makers of The Marfa Tumbleweed Light. The design studio is in the back portion of the house and has a separate entrance for property owner and designer, Jean Landry. I strive to only be in the studio when filling an order, and only during regular business hours. The NeighborhoodWe are located on the west side of town. It is a quiet neighborhood and just a short walk into town. Everything is close to everything here. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation in Marfa but there are bikes available for rent just up the road. The SpaceThe Gem represents a stylish and sophisticated new take on the Marfa rental home. An ideal retreat for discerning couples and solo travelers--the kind seeking a unique, more cultured experience--this modern-style "casita" exudes understated elegance and a highly refined minimal sensibility. Tastefully-appointed accommodations feature brand new designer lighting and amenities--including sleek, state-of-the-art home media stations and a professional Bertazzoni stove--custom-built furnishings and fixtures and a carefully cultivated selection of contemporary artworks, fine literature and film, Old World European antiques and other more worldly imports. Restored crystal sconces from Dresden (a treasured family heirloom) and tufted salon-style sofas from Restoration Hardware lend a Haute Bohemian layer to the pared-back modern/industrial foundation. Outdoor terraces and gardens provide serene areas for sunbathing, stargazing, communing with local hummingbirds (or the occasional lizard or roadrunner) or taking in one of those sublime West Texas sunsets. Overall, a luxe little sanctuary for elevated and artful living. Location Set on the grounds of a converted corner Texaco station, the Gem is part of a larger residential compound. Hosts occupy the large art studio/residence out front, which shares the backyard garden, but guests may have full privacy if required. Accessed via a discreet side entrance, the actual casita is completely hidden--and sheltered--from San Antonio Hwy, which lends an idyllic, secret-garden-hideway vibe. Accommodations A contemporary take on the traditional "casita" guesthouse, the Gem resembles a modern-industrial cabin or bungalow-style lodging. It's a long, linear (one-story) building constructed from unadorned metal panels, wood trimming and other fairly modest, locally-sourced materials. This understated exterior, though, belies the home's chic, minimal design and luxurious sense of space, readily apparent once you step inside. There's an open-plan, pied a terre-style layout--comparable to an oversize suite at a luxe boutique hotel and best-suited for couples or solo travelers. Though the structure is large enough to accommodate additional travelers/sleeping areas (and probably exceeds that found within a number of multi-bedroom rentals in Marfa), the owner maintained the original open-concept format to enhance the building's long, sweeping sight lines and clean, minimal look. Stylish sleeping quarters with a Queen-sized bed (featuring a bespoke handcrafted frame and side tables) comprise one distinct side of the space, along with a living room/front sitting parlour, complete with state-of-the-art digital media stations and an elegant (ten-foot-long) Restoration Hardware sofa. Two rows of books, including a number of first-editions and out-of-print titles, lead out from the bed area, providing a seamlessly smooth segue into the media room. Separated by a narrow porcelain-tiled hallway, the other side offers a bright, airy kitchen/dining area, appointed with a mix of French Regency antiques and cutting-edge, designer-chic appliances. Artful Living Since opening in late 2014, the Gem has quietly acquired a reputation for its sophisticated, highly refined interior design. NYC artist/owner Michael Boisson ((URL HIDDEN) oversaw--and actually completed-- every aspect of the casita's renovation, applying a painterly level of attention to such details as light, color, the type and texture of materials used, overall compositional balance and harmony, etc. With an emphasis on long, clean sight lines--enhanced by the building's open-plan layout and surprising, almost luxurious sense of length--and inviting, uncluttered living spaces, the overarching character connects with the region's minimal, pared-back sensibility. Yet individual details and touches provide a more interesting and highly personal take on "New Marfa Modernism." The final result offers up the same subtle---yet compelling--beauty and layered complexity characteristic of Boisson's own abstract canvases (many of which are hanging throughout the casita). Sustainable Design Philosophy Sustainable building materials and practices--including greywater reclamation and state-of-the-art LED track lighting--were incorporated at every stage of the renovation. Unlike other high-design Marfa homes, there was no massive overhaul of the building's original structure and framework, no expensive shipment of outside materials and labor. Rather, the owner chose to keep the casita's simple (relatively modest and unpolished) industrial-metal format, finishing out the interior with locally-sourced aluminum and Baltic Birch lumber, concrete, reclaimed timber (abandoned at the site of a local construction site) and other salvaged/repurposed materials. In other words, he valued an economy of means as well as style, in the true minimalist tradition. A neighboring architect supplied several rough-hewn doorways while the sconces and other antique furnishings and fixtures are restored family heirlooms, many originally belonging to the owner's grandfather, a sea captain for Lloyd's of London. Bathroom walls--and hallway siding trim--were refinished with recycled ceramic tile (another leftover from a local building job) and the hand-cast concrete sink rests on top of a beautifully corrugated, repurposed old metal shop desk. Almost all the new appliances and amenities (including the LG refrigerator, Bosch dishwasher, Samsung washer and toilet and LED lighting) received industry accolades for energy-efficiency. Even the hallways' warmer "wood-grain-style" porcelain floor tile was the recipient of a Green Choice design award. Along every step of the way, we strove for a balance between aesthetic refinement and principled conservation. We believe the property's overall vibe and aesthetic reflects this elevated approach both to design and to life, in general. Special Amenities and Features The Gem strives to offer some of the high-style cachet, sleek modernist design and luxe little touches one might find at a posh boutique hotel (while carefully avoiding the formulaic slickness and sterile sense of anonymity occasionally characterizing such places). The NeighborhoodThe Gem is located on the western side of downtown Marfa on the grounds of a former corner Texaco station (specifically the corner of San Antonio Hwy and Ranch 2810, aka. Pinto Canyon Road). We're a short walk away from all the galleries, restaurants and other attractions of downtown central but slightly removed from the occasional hustle and bustle. Today the roadside station building houses the owner's painting studio and main residence and is something of a local landmark, known by many a longtime local as the old Alex's Texaco. The guest casita is located behind this front building amidst the property's idyllic backyard gardens. It's completely sheltered from the highway and feels much more peaceful and residential. A perfect basecamp for travelers seeking convenience and easy access as well as a sense of escape. Of note also is Ranch Road 2810, the road intersecting with San Antonio Hwy. If you head south along this road (and it actually goes all the way to Mexico) about 30 miles in, roughly where the pavement turns to gravel, it turns into Pinto Canyon Road, largely regarded as one of the state's most scenic roads/backroads and one of the region's most popular backdrops for photo and film shoots. Also home to the famous Chinati Hot Springs, which you can visit for the afternoon if you call ahead to reserve. There's also a fantastic dirt walking path running alongside the train tracks on the road's northern end--really opens up as you head west toward the cemetery for that that just-me-and-the-wide-open-desert-expanse experience. Area Highlights and Attractions: Stripes--just a few doors down. Fulfills function of late-night corner bodega store (for the urbanite crowd) and is highly convenient if you need any last-minute snacks or other essentials. Moonlight Gemstones: Located caddy-corner from the Gem. Authentic arrowheads, local Agate (and other geological treasures). Owner skilled in lapidary and silversmith arts. The Capri: New lunchtime hotspot/town's de facto cafeteria located in the stylishly landscaped courtyard of the old Thunderbird Restaurant. Open everyday. Bizarro Bikes: Town's only bike rental shop set beside Coffee Roasters Food Shark: Recently relocated (during construction of new Highland Ave hotel) behind owner's after-hours spot, Grilled Cheese Parlour Grilled Cheese Parlour: After-hours lounge/hipster clubhouse with "grown-up" grilled cheese Boyz 2 Men: Popular breakfast taco truck with scruffy hipster appeal set in beaten-down dirt yard/"experimental social space" Airstreamland. Cochineal: Discreet courtyard restaurant holds serious foodie cachet, largely regarded as best dining spot in town Marfa Museum Thrift Store: Not quite Buffalo Exchange but they carry a wide range of used (and downright battered) goods, including books, vinyl records, housewares and furnishings, Kaulfield Park: Pleasant community park just behind road, on other side of train tracks. Excellent view overlooking downtown from hilltop beside entranceway. Jackrabbit sightings here last summer. Porters: Can never compete with Get Go (especially in produce dept) but there's a decent wine/craft beer section (some Napa Cabs) as well as larger selection of beauty/health aids than at Stripes. Also Vernor's ginger soda and large selection of Jarrito's plus delicious El Senor rice pudding. Getting AroundMarfa is quite small and most destinations are well within walking distance of the casita. Biking is also highly popular here and the Bizarro Bikes rental shop is super-close to the Gem, only a few blocks east on San Antonio (in auto shop beside the Coffee Roasters.) But while you won't need a car for most destinations, a great way for first-time visitors to get a sense for the larger lay of the land/see the bigger picture here is by driving around and exploring the town's various neighborhoods and outskirts, where the residential streets open up into the desert expanse. Also best way to take in the wide array of architectural and housing styles found scattered throughout Marfa (Desert Minimal compounds, adobe ruins, old Victorian estate, Craftsmen bungalows, etc.) Other Things to Note*While Chinati Foundation now offers self-guided viewing (of the Judd works only), we recommend the docent-led tours for first-time visitors. Great way to better understand Judd's aesthetic (and living) philosophy plus it's the only way to see Dan Flavin's large-scale light installation--dubbed the last great artwork of the twentieth-century by NY Times art critic Michael Kimmelman. *Check in with (URL HIDDEN) for info on live music, art openings or any other cultural happenings taking place during your stay. Food trucks post daily lunchtime specials here as well as any changes in their usual hours. *On the same (digital) tip, many first-time visitors (and even a few locals) download the Marfa app, some primarily for the device's town map, which, unlike real-world Marfa, posts all the street names. *Most of Marfa's food trucks and other daytime dining destinations wrap up shop by 3 PM--so don't wait for the crowds to disperse or you just might miss lunch altogether *Those arriving in the evening hours should note that both Cochineal and Maiya's typically stop seating around 9 PM (Jett's Grill is 9 or 10). The high danger of brush fires unfortunately means there can be no fires in the outdoor fireplace until the ban is lifted. The county marshall is quick to issue fines for skirting this strict law.

The SpaceGreyfeather is a comfortable, homey, sweet space, eclectically-furnished and appointed. Though it's a bit of a diamond in the rough, it has everything you need to make your stay in Marfa enjoyable. The SpaceWe love that we can go up to the roof at sunset (ideally with a margarita or cold beer in hand!) and see for a hundred miles in every direction--the mountains, the land, the trains, the sky. The front building is for living and the back one is for sleeping. There is a full bath in each, as well as a private outdoor shower. This set-up means we never miss the stars at night or the beautiful light in the morning. The SpaceCentro Casita is in one of the best locations in Marfa. It is one block away from the gorgeous courthouse, the historic Paisano hotel, and several restaurants. Within just 2-3 blocks are several galleries, more restaurants, and unique retail spaces. The casita faces away from the main house and has a lovely private feel, and features a small patio in front with table and chairs. Off-street parking for two cars, or parking for one RV or truck with trailer. No hookups. The SpacePerfect house, perfect location. Spacious adobe home within walking distance of restaurants and galleries. This 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom fully furnished home is situated on half a city block with 2,652-square feet and good separation of bedrooms. We purchased this home in Marfa because, after we moved from NYC to Austin, we craved a place to get away from the Austin heat. We chose Marfa because, while Marfa is a small town, the town's residents are a unique blend of big-city sophisticates, ranchers/cowboys, and long-time residents. Marfa has a creative and eclectic vibe that reminds us of a smaller, and more isolated, Taos. Marfa Land Cattle Company is just 20 minutes from Chinati hot springs, property is 4.5 miles west of small town of Ruidosa at box 12481 Farm Road 170. The Property is visible for miles on top of mountain with full views in all directions. Southern edge of the ranch is the Rio Grande river. Home has full cooks kitchen with all one might need to throw a dinner party, bake , outdoor grill, gas stove, modern appliances, with washer in utility room . Both bedrooms boost firm beds with fine French linen fully tiled private baths, both private built for luxury and to capture private views. Property is 1 hour and 15 south of Marfa either down pinto canyon road picture perfect drive ( please note you will need a high clearance vehicle to take pinto canyon road 2810 from Marfa ) Or one can also take 67 south to Presidio then 42.5 miles west on the river road to property also a great drive on paved state highway also takes one hour and 15 min to 12481 Farm Road 170 look for large sign on right ( Marfa Land and Cattle Company) If you are looking for true peace in 4 star setting you would be welcome here. There is no cell service at the house but we do have a hard line phone and internet service. Although you are in the Big Bend it's 1 hour half to Big Bend National Park. Big bend state park is about an hour away which is becoming a world class location for Moutain Biking. There is also plenty of room to hike and bike around the property. There is a HDTV which can be rolled outside so one can watch the collection of old western films overlooking Mexico to the south. Great star gazing. Also Mule Deer, Elk, Javelina, Aoudad, Rare Big Horn Sheep. Great bird watching many Birds of prey. We have completely redone the road up to the house March 2015 no more rocks or bumps as noted in couple of reviews. As a house quest you can book day pass to swim in Ruidosa thru Angell Expeditions. Take note the drive down pinto canyon is worth the extra cost of larger high clearance vehicle if your renting but we do not advise taking it at night no danger it's just nerve racking and the point is the views. Otherwise the drive is a state highway all paved From Marfa take 67 to Presidio then 37 miles west on Farm road 170 to small town of Ruidosa proceed 4.5 miles to sign saying MARFA LAND and CATTLE CO. On your right. The river road is a great drive out most likely will see game and roaming cattle and horses and native inhabitants. The SpaceAt 1700 or so square feet, this is the largest exposed-adobe room left in Marfa, now transformed into a loft, private theater and event space steps away from most everything you'll want to see and do in the center of town. About 10 steps across the courtyard to Do Your Thing coffee, directly across the street from The Get Go, our gourmet natural food store and wine shop, as well as Ballroom Marfa, one block from The Pizza Foundation, The Lost Horse Saloon and Marfa National Bank, and within two blocks of Cochineal Restaurant, City Hall, Marfa Hardware Store, Stripes Convenience Store, and much more -- it really is the ideal location in town The day beds / couches and the tables are all on casters so you can configure your sleeping or hang out arrangements any way you like (or request an arrangement). The standard arrangement is one king bed and two day beds. There are four giant cushions that come off the day beds and can form two extra beds on the floor, too. There's a giant hand-made "ark" (divided into four) for extra linens, blankets and pillows. The projector is new (bright and crisp 1080p). The system comes with two new 1000 watt QVC PAs and a flying subwoofer (in the rafters) along with a Playstation 4. And if you have HDMI input on your laptop you can use it on the big screen, too. With 100 mbs wifi you can surf the net or watch Netflix or you can bring games and Blu Rays if you like, too. There's also a brand new Audio Technique turntable with several records (including some vintage 45's) if you like to spin. Feel free to bring some along. The kitchen has three hot plates, a big toaster oven and a small fridge. There's also a large work table that you are welcome to use for whatever project you have in mind. Just don't sand or cut wood indoors. If you like the convenience of walking around town make sure you check the address of listings that say "walking distance" so you aren't stuck on the edge of town.     The SpaceThis master suite is spacious and comfortable. You'll have access to a bedroom and connected private bathroom. French doors open out directly from the room out onto a private front porch overlooking a cactus garden and the quaint front and side streets. The room is outfitted with a super comfortable king bed, soft linens, a desk, and seating area with coffee table. Please note there is no kitchen access. There is a food/drinks setup with coffee maker, coffee, cream, and sugar for the morning, as well as a cutting board, plates, and utensils in case you wish to prepare food. There is not a fridge or stove. Your suite is totally private. It is however a room within a larger and inhabited home. Your privacy is assured, but it's helpful to understand that there is still some level of interaction in the sense that if either you or I are walking around, talking, opening and closing doors- we can hear each other. And vice versa. My boyfriend and I work at night, and generally get back home between 11-1. We try really hard to be quiet but you might hear us arriving and moving around for a second as we get ready for bed. Guest AccessThis is a totally private stay, with self check-in and self check-out. I am available and more than happy to answer questions, but the space itself is designed to be secluded. If you'd rather spend the night in a home than a hotel, but want more privacy than you'd typically get with room rentals, the Mesa Suite is what you want! Interaction with GuestsSelf check-in is at 4 pm, self check-out is at 11 am (this just means you arrive at and leave the house privately, without being guided or greeted in and out). The NeighborhoodThere is a train that runs through town. It's the reason Marfa exists in the first place! You can hear it! You can hear this train from literally anywhere in town; it's inevitable. My house is quieter than many as we're uphill of the tracks, but the train WILL come through at night, and you will likely notice it. It's no big deal. It's actually pretty cool. But please do no not book a room in a tiny railroad town and then comment negatively on the fact that you could hear the train. Getting AroundThe room is a short ten minute walk to the center of town. It is located on the northwest edge of town, two streets away from a historic ranch. Beautiful sunrise or sunset walks are around the corner. Restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream parlor, laundromat, and the Judd Foundation are barely any further. Other Things to NoteThe doors to to the room are original to the house. There is a cool skeleton key that opens an antique lock- it's unconventional and takes a second to figure out, but adds to the charm of the space. There are also internal and external latches if you prefer to just use these! As mentioned, the house is a craftsman bungalow from the 1910's. The suite has been recently renovated (new floors and furniture!) The bathroom and doors are older. For each reservation, there is a one time cleaning fee of $25. The room cost reflects a built-in hotel tax of 13% collected by the state and city.

    The SpaceThis is a cool house on the west side of town on a spacious, open property. The house is full of character and is within walking distance of everything Marfa has to offer. If walking isn't your thing, there is a brand new public bike system (see photo for more info) you can use to get to any and everywhere in tiny Marfa. Chinati Foundation and art tours are less than a mile away. There are lots of artistic details and artwork/photography by amazing established artists throughout the house. The house is on a large lot so it feels very open with great stargazing at night. Our street dead ends into a large ranch so we are right on the edge of nature. The house has 2 bedrooms, a comfy living room, an office space with large desk/workspace, kitchen, bathroom, front porch, back yard, and a small enclosed BBQ courtyard out back. Additionally, we provide nice linens and towels. The kitchen has a gas stove and plenty of pots, pans, and utensils to cook with. Also included: Wi-fi, Internet TV, Netflix, HBO GO, etc. We are happy to offer tips and have a cork board on the dining room wall with lots of information and resources for the area. Guest AccessIt's on the corner of Paris Street and S. Silgo Street directly behind "Celebration Liquor." It's the white house with a green roof.     Other Things to NoteHere's the deal with pets. I totally get why guests want to travel with pets, for one of my best friends is one. Having said, I want to make Marfa Loft available to everyone including those sensitive to animals, I maintain a NO pets policy. However I have make exceptions to those who reserve for extended stay, but then I request they bring their own linens and require a pet deposit. This I recognize my be inconvenient to those who travel with pets, but I feel it only fair to those who are sensitive and/or allergic to spaces that allow animals.

    The SpaceThe Zenabel Lounge is an artful and comfortable low brow gem located in a beautiful neighborhood just a few blocks from open views of the desert landscape. The space is the back master room of a Marfa home with a private entrance, similar to a duplex. The house itself is a diamond in the rough - absolutely comfortable, darling even - also far from modern. The bathroom is simple and functional. The standing shower has great hot water, awesome water pressure, and ugly tiles! The room includes a very comfortable full bed as well as a seating area with space for kicking back. There's a table for two - perfect for laptop time and spreading out. There's a mini fridge and coffee set-up with all the goodies. There is no cooking or heating up food in the lounge. There is no kitchen and there is no kitchen sink. There is one sleeping option, the excessively comfortable full bed. The chaise lounge is not a sleeping option. Maximum 2 guests, always firm. Minimum 2 night stay for reservations including a Friday or Saturday. Located in a very pretty residential neighborhood. At only 2 miles x 1 mile wide Marfa is tiny. Galleries, restaurants and shops are located along the two highways that bisect the town. At the Zenabel Lounge you get the best of both worlds - you are away from tri-county traffic while being 10 blocks to the action at the center of town and 6 blocks to unencumbered views of the mountains on the horizon. My home is dated with worn fixtures and floors. I am constantly updating the interior design with the eye of a scavenging designer. The space is vintage eclectic - outfitted with textiles, artwork, art books, and curiosities. With one very comfortable sleeping option, the space is designed for 1 or 2 folks on the shared full bed. If your priorities are privacy, affordability, and an artful experience then the Zenabel Lounge is for you.     The SpaceThe Pink House is on a fully fenced and gated 1/2 acre in a quiet Marfa neighborhood. There are 3 bedrooms, each with a queen bed and a good sized closet. There is a queen sized pull out sofa-bed in the living area to accommodate 2 additional guests. There are 2 full bath rooms with a Jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom. We provide locally handcrafted soaps, a basic shampoo and conditioner, as well as a hairdryer. The kitchen has a dining table that will comfortably seat 4 people with a breakfast bar to seat 2 more. It is stocked with cookware, utensils, dinnerware, along with locally roasted coffee, cold drinks, cereal, a few snacks and some basic condiments. The house is bright and spacious with 12 foot ceilings in the living and kitchen areas. There is hardwood flooring in the bedrooms and ceramic tile throughout the rest of the house. It has central heat and air-conditioning. The Kiva fireplace is decorative only. The laundry room has a basic, easy to use washer and dryer for use during your stay. We have WiFi and satellite TV. There is one TV in the living room. There is a covered flagstone patio in the back with patio furniture for relaxing outside that seats 4-5. There is a 2 car attached garage, as well as an additional carport on the property. We also provide 2 adult bicycles (with solid no-flat tires) both with baskets and helmets for getting around town. Can sleep 2, but made for either couples or very close friends. Would not recommend for those taller than 6'0' THE KITCHEN: A galley style kitchen with mini fridge, hot plate, and all the fixin's to make yourself coffee or a quick bite. THE BATHROOM / SHOWER SPACE: An indoor toilet and sink, with an outdoor shower and under-deck claw foot tub (you have to see it to believe it!). Mostly used in the warmer months, but for the winter months and those who might prefer bathing inside- there is a shared bathroom / shower area on the RV park for all guests. THE OUTDOOR SPACE: A set of deck chairs sit up "on deck". A large metal staircase leads up to the main seating / living area. Pricing includes 13% tax. Guest AccessYou will have the entire (all 200 sq feet of it - including the awesome deck) boat to yourself. I'm close by should you need anything and always on call in case of emergencies. The NeighborhoodYou are within a few blocks of the centre of town and right next door to El Cosmico! Getting AroundYou are within walking distance to everything! Chinati Foundation is a 5 minute walk, and the "downtown core" within 5 too. Other Things to Note- The staircase is steep. Not recommended for those with heavy suitcases / trouble climbing stairs. - The space is small. Not recommended for those with a lot of stuff or who don't want to live in a tiny space.

      The SpaceOur home, Alysford White, comprises two separate structures, perfect for one or two couples. Both reflect a modern design aesthetic, and open-concept layout. MAIN STRUCTURE The main structure of Alysford White features living, kitchen, and dining areas, all in one open space. It also has a 3/4 bathroom with shower. The open floor plan is augmented by a connected screened-in porch and covered back porch, making for a seamless and pleasant transition from interior to exterior. The structure reflects the modern and minimalist Marfa aesthetic. We also kept the interior decor somewhat minimal by design to maintain the open space and highlight the natural flow from one functional area to another. We love to lounge, cook, and do computer work from here. The space is airy and comfortable. While it functions mainly as a bedroom, there's also a siting area with TV and Blu-ray player, kitchenette, a large walk-in closet and full bathroom. With everything you need a short distance from the bed, the casita is the perfect place for slow mornings. The Casita has all the amenities a couple would need for a comfortable stay, including it's own covered porch, perfect for a late afternoon drink. • Queen-bed sleeps 2 • Kitchenette with stove-top, and mini-refrigerator. Please do not use the oven. • Dining/work table seats 2 • Full bathroom and walk-in closet • Comfortable sitting area with leather sofa, butterfly chair, TV and Blu-ray player SCREENED-IN PORCH The Screened-in Porch is connected to the main living space through a sliding door. This room makes up more than one third of the main building and provides shelter while exposed to the natural environment. The screened-in porch features a wood-burning stove, perfect for staying warm while viewing Marfa's beautiful sunsets during chilly fall nights. The NeighborhoodMarfa is tiny, so you're always going to be within easy access to shops, restaurants, and galleries. The center of town is just a mile from us, so a quick bike or car ride will get you anywhere in no time. We really enjoy walking or riding bikes everywhere we go. But keep in mind there's also great shopping in Marfa, so a car is sometimes your best bet. Our home is in very close proximity to the edge of town, perfect for an early evening walk, and also walkable to one of our favorite restaurants/bars - The Capri. Our neighborhood is quiet, and hasn't been effected as much by all the development that's happening around town; we love its original charm, and we think you will too. Other Things to NoteConsider renting a bike from Bizarro Bikes to get around town. That's our favorite mode of transportation in Marfa. Be careful of the weeds (particularly the spikey Goatheads) on the property, but especially careful if you rent a bike. We recommend close-toed shoes. We have two drop-cams on the property to monitor the lawns and ensure they're maintained while we're away. Our property manager Ralph will unplug them ahead of your arrival, but feel free to double check just to be sure. They are both located on window ledges, one in each structure. All rates include the 13% Texas Hotel Occupancy Tax.

      The SpaceThough compact, it sleeps 3-4 people easily. It has it's own, self-contained, shower and toilet so you won't rely on public shower spaces. Though Marfa has wonderful natural space, sometimes it's nice to watch TV or a movie while you cook dinner or choose something on Netflix while you snuggle up in bed after a long day exploring nature or art. Between sitting outside in the stars or relaxing on the couch, this trailer really feels like a home. That's hard to find in Marfa. Guest AccessThe trailer is the first airstream you'll see when you enter Apache Pines. It's shaded by a lovely mulberry tree and has unobstructed views of the easter horizon and the beautifully restored neon "Stardust Marfa" motel sign. For sunrises or sunsets, it doesn't get much better. Interaction with GuestsI live here in Marfa in a building my partner and I are restoring, so we are happy to arrange a meeting so that we can show you how the trailer operates. It's pretty simple, but as all trailers are, you have to know where the switches are and how things are stored. Of course, we are also happy to give you some pointers on what to do and what to see around town and throughout the beautiful West Texas region. The NeighborhoodApache pines is on the far west side of town and is special because a small hill blocks all the light from town. You will literally have the best spot for star gazing possible within the city limits. It's also not very well known, so it tends to be very quiet and relaxing. Getting AroundThough you can walk to the center of town, a car or bike would be optimal. Other Things to NoteIMPORTANT: Minimum two night stay on weekends. We don't know how to set this restriction automatically, so we are stating it here. Also, as long as we don't have other visitors the right after you, check out as late as you like. Please leave out whatever linens you've used so we'll know what to wash. Other than that, we look forward to your visit!

      The SpaceThe space is an adobe which means it delightfully holds heat in winter and cold in summer, creating a lovely temperate environment that acts as a private reprieve during a busy travel day. (we also have AC/heat!) + There is a spacious bathroom with large shower as well as an added outdoor shower. +It is set up much like a deluxe hotel room- the main space is the bedroom, and there is an alcove-like space directly off of the bedroom with a daybed (cot-sized) to host a third guest. **Let us know if you need the daybed made up prior to your stay** + The front area is outfitted with a desk laptop work area and TV, it also includes a mini fridge, chemex coffee set up with beans provided, tea, fresh filtered water and servingware. +ROKU TV (with Netflix, Hulu and Amazon), a collection of books, and essential oil diffuser provided! Guest AccessYou'll have access to the backyard which has a large aluminum picnic table on a patio, views of the west Texas sky, and grill area as well as the outdoor shower. We are happy to point you in the direction of the laundromat (also a coffee shop), and restaurants, coffee shops, retail spots, hiking areas, events, and watering holes in town. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is a 3 blocks off of the main street (Highland Ave) in Marfa. We have a great view of the Marfa water tower. Walk north 5 blocks for mountain gazing, west 5-10 for some beautiful footpaths. Getting AroundMarfa is very walkable! About a mile wide and nearly a mile high, it's easy to bike or walk to most anywhere. Having a rental car is ideal getting into town and granting yourself access to our famed Star Parties at the MacDonald Observatory outside of Fort Davis, swimming at Balmorhea, hiking in Big Bend and visiting quaint nearby Alpine, TX.
