The SpaceYou’ll have private outside stairway access to this 1800 sq ft second floor suite with its many windows and panoramic mountain views. The suite’s open floor plan creates a casual, relaxing atmosphere that will accommodate your entire family or group in comfort—or keep the entire suite for just the two of you! Vaulted ceilings, faux antique walls, knotty aspen ceilings, and rustic post and beam accents provide a spacious, homey feeling throughout. You can cook your own meals in the fully furnished kitchen, or eat out at one of several seasonal restaurants a few miles away. You’ll find the two full baths and washer/dryer handy for cleaning up after a long day of outdoor excitement. When you return to the house to rest from your adventures, curl up on the comfortable couches in the great room to watch a favorite movie on the flat-screen TV and DVD player, or surf the web and send pictures of your unforgettable experiences to your friends and family at home using the high speed wi-fi access. The north bedroom features alcove play areas the little kids will love to come home to. Guest AccessOutside your getaway home is a large, grassy area for your recreational use. Kids will enjoy playing games on the grass, going down the sixteen-foot tube slide, or exploring the nearby creek. Soak in the ambiance of warm summer evenings around the outdoor fire pit as you toast marshmallows and watch the stars appear. Walk or jog around our private loop drive (5 laps = 1 mi), or around the 3 mile farm loop road. Interaction with GuestsOwners are always glad to share advice and knowledge of the local area, but will allow you your privacy as you enjoy the amenities. The NeighborhoodWe built our home here about 6 years ago, and the upstairs addition was just finished last fall (2014). Our home is located on what used to be the Rose family farm of approximately 70 acres. I grew up here, working the farm as a youngster with my dad and brothers. The farm has long since been divided up among family members, and the old corrals and barn in the hollow next to our home (Sunrise Hollow) had to be torn down, but the area still retains its peaceful atmosphere. Most of our 20 acres lie to the south of the house and consist of wild thickets and brush. The property is bounded 1/2 mile to the south by Henrieville Creek and is bisected near the house by another small creek locals refer to as Henrieville Wash. Kids love to play in the wash, but always come back muddy, so they will need an extra set of "mud" clothes and shoes if you allow them to explore there. There are restaurants in Tropic (8 miles away) and around Bryce Canyon City (17 miles away). The entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park is 20 miles away. Getting AroundWe are surrounded by the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument lands, which is a great place to hike and explore, but you will need a vehicle that can handle the unpaved back roads. A four-wheel drive is best but an all-wheel drive SUV will get you to most places, especially if it has a little higher clearance than a "street SUV". There is no public transit, taxi service, nor car rental close by.

The SpaceThis 2000 sq. foot house overlooks the town of Escalante and has some spectacular views. It is very secluded with tons of privacy. It sits on 18 acres with a 1/4 mile private driveway. It has 3 bedrooms 2 baths, kitchen, dining area, washer, dryer, spacious living room, 52" flat screen tv with cable and WiFi. Perfect for the whole family! If he doesn't have the answer he can very likely tell you where you can find it. Please let him know if there is anything he can help you with. Other Things to NoteEscalante is a very rural area. You can find most of your necessities in town but if you require special foods or other items you can't live without make sure to bring them with you. There are no major supermarkets or department stores within 2 hours of Escalante. Cell service is also a limited service. Most cell phone carriers work fairly some not so much.

The SpaceOur property is located at the top of the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. It is wilderness as far as you can see. The elevation is 8000 to 8600 feet. The road can be impassible after a rain. We have been stuck many times. But that is part of the appeal. In 20+ years of ownership we have only see other people in the area a handful of times. The quiet, the dark, and the isolation are what makes this space special. There is no permanent electricity and no municipal water. We truck in all our water. And of course no internet except your phone. This place is the definition of "off the grid". If you want a place to sit and watch the stars, listen to the sound of the wind, or a base camp to explore the area around Escalante, Bryce Canyon, or any of the surrounding area, this is a great launching point. Guest AccessYou aren't just renting our yurt, you are renting all 80 of our acres, and all the surrounding public land. You can walk and hike from here or drive to any of the many spectacular attractions in the area. Interaction with GuestsIf you want to stay here I or someone will be there to ensure that your stay is as comfortable as possible. We will provide water for drinking, cooking and bathing. We have cooking facilities, and will provide propane for your convenience. Again, there is limited electricity, but a generator is on site to charge batteries and to provide lighting in the evenings. What you are paying for if you come here is the opportunity to be completely off the grid, to unplug, to unwind, and recharge. There is nothing to interfere with your desire to relax and enjoy the sounds and scenery of Southern Utah. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is the wild outdoors. Henrieville (15 miles) has a water faucet in the local park, Cannonville (23 miles) has a small store, and Tropic (about 30 miles) has a gas station, grocery store, motels and restaurants. Escalente, located roughly 40 miles to the east, is also a full service town. Getting AroundYou are completely on your own for transportation. A four wheel drive, high clearance vehicle is a must. The last part of the road is only accessible to high clearance vehicles, and four wheel drive. We could possibly help if you become stuck, but two wheel drive vehicles are NOT RECOMMENDED for this area. Again, this is a wild, remote, undeveloped area that is only accessible when the road is dry. Other Things to NoteThe weather here is extremely variable. It can rain with little notice on the hottest summer day. We have had snow in the middle of September. You would do well to bring any and all gear to prepare yourself for all weather conditions, regardless of the season.

The Dry Fork Trailhead is a beautiful, narrow canyon that offers several miles of hiking opportunity. Peek-A-Boo Gulch is a beautifully sculptured slot that runs for about half a mile to a wide, sandy wash. Spooky Gulch is the next opening as you hike down Dry Fork. It offers a great slot canyon hike through beautifully eroded Navajo sandstone. The canyon is deep and it constantly twists and bends, creating the eerie and haunting nature captured in its name. Spooky is the narrowest slot normal-sized adults can get through. Our house has 2 levels with 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. Here is what a recent guest had to say: "Located quite close to the entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park, this inexpensive accommodation is a rare find. Although it is visible from Route 12, you have NO sense that you are anywhere near a highway once you arrive. The panoramic scenery is complex, sweeping, and riveting. Stellar jays with bold blue bellies, jet black magpies with stark white wings, and tangerine meadowlarks greet you as you drive along the country lane to Sunrise Hollow. Cottontail rabbits dot the lawn, and the moonlight on the landscape at night is mesmerizing. And stargazing on moonless nights here is fabulous! Once you are inside, you have the entire top floor of a large house to yourselves. The design is original, highly sophisticated, expertly realized, and meticulously finished. Milt and Brenda Rose, most gracious hosts, designed it themselves and completed most of the work on their own. The results are stunning. You are far from the madding crowd, briefly experiencing life on what is literally an extended family farm with every modern amenity at your fingertips. Yet you can jump on the highway and be at Bryce in a nonce. Skip even the 'better' hotels in this area for a genuine and deeply satisfying stay at one sweet slice of heaven. -Dr. Gina Higgins, Marblehead, MA · May 2015" Key Residence Features: • Fully equipped kitchen • Two full bathrooms with tub/shower in each • Great room with flat-screen TV and DVD player • Free wi-fi access • Washer and dryer • Outdoor fire pit with picnic table Sleeping Configuration: • South Bedroom: 2 queen-sized beds • Great Room: 1 queen-sized bed with privacy curtain • North Bedroom: 2 twin-sized beds and 2 folding cots • Plenty of floor space for air mattresses or sleeping pads, especially in the North bedroom Policies: • No smoking • No pets • Must be 21 years or older to book • Additional fees and taxes may apply if over 8 occupants
