The SpaceThis is an updated 2,100-square foot brick home in the eclectic 9th & 9th district of Salt Lake City, one mile from the center of downtown Salt Lake City. Close to the city's center, yet just down the street from beautiful Emigration Canyon. Park City's ski resorts are 25-35 minutes away and all of the Cottonwood Canyons ski resorts (Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, & Solitude) are about 30-35 minutes away. The house is truly exquisite inside; it's filled with antiques and items that we've collected in our travels around the world, NOT the same old Ikea stuff that you see in most of the other rentals. Before you book your stay somewhere else, really take a look at the pictures of their plywood furniture and ask yourself if that would be more comfortable. Not to mention the location. There is a large, private hot tub in the back yard. There is a large-screen plasma TV in the spacious entertainment room. There is also a Wii game console with a bunch of games and a large collection of books in the house to read. The dining room has a large table and can seat up to 10 people. Parking available for small boats and RVs. There is a 24-hour supermarket within 2 blocks of the house and the kitchen is fully equipped with all of the appliances & utensils that you'll need during your stay. ********ACCOMMODATIONS SETUP******** MASTER BEDROOM: Queen-size bed (sleeps 2) BEDROOM #2: Queen-size bed (sleeps 2) BEDROOM #3: Full-size bed (sleeps 2) BEDROOM #4: Queen-size bed & twin-size bunk bed (sleeps 4) BEDROOM #5: Queen-sized pullout couch (sleeps 2) *******DISTANCE FROM SKI RESORTS******* Canyons: 25 min Park City: 30 min Solitude: 30 min Brighton: 35 min Deer Valley: 35 min Snowbird: 35 min Alta(URL HIDDEN)40 min Snowbasin: 55 min Sundance: 70 min Wolf Mtn: 70 min Powder Mtn: 80 min Beaver Mtn: 2.2 hrs Cherry Peak: 2.3 hrs Eagle Point: 3.0 hrs Brian Head: 4.2 hrs Guest AccessGuest will have access to everything in the house, to include laundry room, porch, yard, etc. Nothing is shared. The SpaceIf you're debating between the convenience of staying downtown and the comfort of a spacious historic home? Look no further! This is the historic Pugsley Manor home. It was built nearly a century and a half ago and it still has all of its original charm for you to enjoy. Restored to its original state in the living areas, yet it has very modern touches in all of the right places. Located in the Downtown Marmalade District - Salt Lake's colorful historic district - this large manor home boasts all of the amenities that you'd expect from a 5-star hotel: high-speed wifi, an attentive staff, and even personal hygiene amenities. You can live like it's your own home by taking advantage of the fully-equipped kitchen and the large formal dining room, while enjoying the fact that each bedroom has its own bathroom. There is a small children's park just a few doors down from the home. The neighborhood is inviting and very quiet; you won't even realize that you're less than a mile from the skyscrapers of downtown. Pugsley Manor comes fully stocked with all linens & towels, and has all of the little things that you won't need to carry with you: hair dryers, irons, toiletries, etc. We will also provide you with a guide that covers everything about the home, the neighborhood, and our favorite attractions & restaurants in Salt Lake City. If you're here for the convention center, this home is just 3 and a half blocks away and has a bus route that will take you there also. If you're here to ski, you can enjoy the convenience of a short 33-minute drive to get to the slopes. READ THIS DISCLAIMER: This is an old house. It is on the historic registry, so there are a lot of things about it that are original and you might not like that. The kitchen is ultra-modern, but otherwise it has that old feeling to it and some people will walk in and instantly thing it's "dirty", even if it's the cleanest house they've ever stepped foot in. If you want a new white-washed McMansion with no charm, this is not it. It's old and creaky with original floors, windows, walls, etc. +++++ SLEEPING SETUP: +++++ Master Bedroom: King-size bed (sleeps 2) Bedroom 2: Queen-size bed (sleeps 2) Bedroom 3: Queen-size bed (sleeps 2) Bedroom 4: Queen-size bed (sleeps 2) Entertainment Room: High-quality queen futon (sleeps 2) Entertainment Room: Self-inflating twin Aero-bed (sleeps 1) Living Room: Self-inflating twin Aero-bed (sleeps 1) +++++ NEARBY ATTRACTIONS: +++++ Salt Palace Convention Center: 3 minutes Energy Solutions Arena: 3 minutes Salt Lake Ski Resorts: 33 minutes University of Utah: 8 minutes LDS Conference Center: 4 minutes Temple Square: 4 minutes Guest AccessGuests will be provided with nearly everything they need: linens, towels, soap, detergent, laundry machine, hair dryer, iron, etc. Interaction with GuestsWe meet nearly all guests at our houses and give them a quick tour of the property and answer questions about the home and businesses in the surrounding area. Other Things to NoteThis is a very old house. It has been well-taken care of, but it is an old house none the less. Do not expect a condo built in 2015. It will be EXTREMELY clean when you arrive, but some travelers just don't like old historic houses so they leave 4-star reviews, even though the house is immaculate. Please ask us about our new houses if that's what you're looking for.

(In meters, that's 1498 meters above sea level and 180 meters above downtown Salt Lake City. High Avenues Modern was built in 1951 and is one of the first homes built above 11th Avenue. It was designed by Swiss-born architect Ed Dreier who studied under Mies Van der Rohe. Dreier conceived of and designed some of Salt Lake City’s most unique homes through the 1950′s, 1960′s and 1970′s. This is a comfortable home with gobs of space, good bones, bright natural light, long south facing views and large rooms –– yet all the bedrooms are cozy, intimate and quiet spaces. Guest AccessGuests have access to the whole house -- guest suite, great room and front deck with views of more than 90 miles on a clear day. Interaction with GuestsI live and work in my house as a national business development executive in the solar energy industry. I am available to guests throughout the day and have forged scores of long-term friendships with Airbnb guests who have stayed here at my home. The NeighborhoodThe Avenues are a residential neighborhood of Salt Lake City rising to more than a "Mile High" (5,280') above sea level and more than 1,000' above the valley on its North Bench. It is one of the first neighborhoods established by Salt Lake City architect Brigham Young and today it is one of the most diverse, elegant, old/new/midcentury progressive, hipster and reliably (big D) democratic neighborhoods of Utah's capital city. If there is a "Berkeley" in Utah, it's the Avenues. Getting AroundUTA #11 bus stops 250' of the front door with somewhat limited service to downtown and the University of Utah. At ether destination, connections can be made to TRAX and FrontRunner. The #11 bus stops at the Salt Palace Convention Center south entrance. Other Things to NoteI am an Airbnb pioneer who has hosted more than 500 guests since 2009. Airbnb says I'm a "SuperHost." I am well connected in my communities, my city, state, region and (website hidden) citizen through and through. I am highly passionate about Airbnb as a host, stakeholder and early adapter.

The SpaceWhy stay in a hotel, or an apt, or a room when you can have your own, private Airstream with all the amenities. Local station TV with DVD, heat, bathroom, huge kitchen, living room, and all the character that comes with a one of the kind space like this. Walking distance to everything you need downtown! Bars, parks, restaurants and more. There is a twin bed and a new convertible dinette unit in the living room that can either be a used as a dinner/coffee table for four or arranged as a full + size bed. View a video tour on Houzz by seaching for My Houzz: New Life and Style for a 1976 Airstream Guest AccessPlenty of parking in front of main home. Airstream is located in rear of property and has its own private patio and evening lighting. Access to the Airstream is on the cement path located on the south side of the home. Typically, the Airstream will be unlocked with your keys on the kitchen counter so you can arrive at your convenience without needing to coordinate too much in advance. Depending on your arrival time, I can arrange to meet you on the property. Interaction with GuestsAs much or as little as you like! I tend to travel often but always make arrangements for the home owner (of the property that has the Airstream) to be available for guests as well. Everyone on the property is aware when guests are staying and does their best to help out in any way they can. If you have particular questions to help make your visit to SLC a hit, send them along beforehand or ALWAYS feel free to call/text Jordan directly. The NeighborhoodThis remodeled Airstream is nestled between Sugarhouse, Liberty Park, and all of the new development 1 block away on Central 9th. Situated in the shadows of the Bees Stadium, you enjoy a dead end, ZERO traffic, lane with charming neighbors that ends literally right behind the ball park. That means free fireworks and character only minutes from downtown. Walkable to classic Salt Lake City restaurants like Meditrina, Thai Siam, Toshs Ramen, The Republican, Salt City Biscuits and Limeade and more. Walkable (5min) to 13th south tracks station and bike-able to Liberty Park and Downtown within 5 minutes. Tracks line takes ~10 min to downtown. As a neighborhood on the fringe of downtown SLC, there is a diverse, yet safe combination that gives you an authentic and lively feel for the town. Getting AroundThe Airstream is located just on the fringes of Downtown SLC. That means most major locations are roughly 15-20 min walk OR take our local trax line to anywhere downtown in 10 mins! There is a station 2 blocks away due West! Uber and Lyft are also accessible in town. Other Things to NoteAC/HEAT - Due to the in-and-out nature of guests, we tend to keep the AC/Heat off or on low while the trailer is unoccupied. While we do our best to keep it the right temp before you arrive, that may not always be the case. Have no fear, its a tiny home and heats/cools very quickly! Just shut the windows and either turn on the AC or heat and make yourself at home. STOVE - As a vintage stove, it just requires you to light the burners or oven pilot when using. It works great! TOILET - Its a composting toilet. That means you have to be sure to get liquids into the front holding tank and open the hatch for solids. Its quite intuitive so have no fear. Please place toilet paper into the garbage so it doesnt interrupt the composting process. There is no smell and its not messy at all. SHOWER - Hot water works great and tends to last as long as you like! FRESH WATER - There is fresh spring water in the fridge for your drinking water needs. There is also more water in the pantry above the fridge. You can always drink straight from the faucet as (website hidden) - The TV has access to local stations and is controlled on the side of the TV. You can also play DVDs or connect the HDMI chord (located in the pantry above the fridge) to your own computer. Just select the input button on the side of the TV until it lands on HDMI. WIFI - Due to the aluminum trailer, signals can be weak depending on your device. It tends to always work great just outside on the porch.

Guest AccessGuests use a separate entrance, with storage vestibule, and dedicated bathroom. A washer/dryer shared with the rest of the house is also available. Note that access is via an 11 step concrete stairway with no rail, which may not be ideal for someone with knee issues. Interaction with GuestsThe garden-level of our home has the Airbnb apartment, laundry room, bathroom, and my business office, all joined by a common hallway, with a separate entrance to the house. The apartment has closable doors to this common hallway. We use the office and laundry areas, but once we welcome you, how much interaction we have is up to you, and we respect your privacy. We live just upstairs in the same house, and are always available for questions or help. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is very safe, and surprisingly quiet for being in a city, close to the University and to downtown. Tall old-growth trees line the street for plenty of summer shade and autumn color. Parking is no problem. We live on a wide street with lots of parking right in front of our house and no ticketing issues. Getting AroundBus stops a block away making it easy to go anywhere around town. The Space(see pics of the new treehouse. We call it the Sky Deck. You are totally welcome to go up there. Most relaxing place ever.) The space is mostly unique for its location on the light rail line, proximity to downtown and U of Utah, and easy access to I-80 and I-15. This makes it a nice convenient stop for travelers, revelers, adventurers, skiiers, and business trippers. Location The house is within a block of the southern end of the downtown district, so there is alot of excellent stuff within short walking distance. (I'm about 1 mile from the center of downtown). If you hop on Trax (light rail train), you can take any of the 3 trains, (every 5 minutes) and you're downtown central in 7 minutes. The house is a half block from a stop on the train system. University of Utah is 12 minutes away by train or automobile. Salt Lake Community College is 1 mile away, 6 minutes by bus. Treehouse, Porch, Patio, Backyard My neighbor and I just built a treehouse in the tree between our houses. We call it the Sky Deck. You are welcome to go up there. Its of course very relaxing up there. See pictures. There is a big front porch which really adds a lot of space and gets the morning sun. Good spot for coffee. There is also a patio in the back with some deck chairs and a grill for the afternoon sun. When the weather is warm, you can even camp in the backyard if you would like. (I have all the necessary gear and I don't care if it gets used and used up). There is a hammock tied up in the back corner of the yard. Smoking Smoking is allowed outside on the deck, in the backyard, and in the treehouse. Solid Plaster Walls The house has solid plaster walls and I've added sound-proofing material to the doors for privacy. Other Stuff I usually have the room ready to go so don't hesitate to book on short notice. Office If you need an office, there is a new coffee shop about a half mile from the house that functions as an office for people all day long. Its called Publik, and the place is incredible. One of the best designed interiors I've ever seen for any public space. The bed in the guest room is full size. It is a 6 inch thick mattress with a memory foam topper on futon type frame. I've only heard good things about it. There is only the one bathroom in the house. Fortunately I'm a very low maintenance guy and I don't spend much time in there. Guest AccessYou will have access to wi-fi, cable TV, shower, full kitchen, washer/dryer, and free parking. Think of it as a (clean, fancy) hostel. Private parking: there is a parking spot, inside my gate in front of the house, that you can park on. There is a motion light right above it, and I can lock the gate at your request. Guests are welcome to full access to the kitchen, minus the food. There are two shelves in the pantry for guests. Interaction with GuestsI always play it by ear...I may or may not hang around at the house that evening. The level of interaction with the host is totally up to the guest. At some point before your arrival, I will give you a passcode that you will enter to unlock the front door. If you know your estimated arrival time, I will be able to tell you if I will be at the house at that time. My property manager, Mike, lives just down the street and his phone number will be listed as a secondary contact. If I walk over to the neighborhood pub or to a friend's house, you are welcome to come along. I play the innkeeper as I carry on with my day. If you need information to optimize your experience in Salt Lake and the surrounding region, just ask. If you're considering a move to Salt Lake City, I don't mind taking the time to discuss the neighborhoods you might like and what to expect in SLC. Call it "value added"; which I think is the whole idea behind AirBNB. The Neighborhood(see the Guidebook section in the tab at the top. I actually took the time to fill it out.) Bars/Restaurants/Shops Most restaurants and businesses in the area are locally owned. This area is known for its awesome (and inexpensive) asian restaurants and taco trucks. There is a dive bar down the street, which is next to a nice breakfast spot, which is across the street from an incredible vegan/raw foods cafe. Next to that there's a nice coffee shop. Parks There are two large parks each about a mile away. There is a small park about 500 ft to the north, which is great for laying out with a book. Getting AroundTrain If you hop on the train and head north, you're in the heart of downtown in about 7 minutes. It's one of the more ethnically diverse neighborhoods in Salt Lake City proper. There is very convenient public transit, as previously mentioned. I'm nearest to the 1300 south stop. Also, the house is about .3 miles from the I-15/80 exit. I-15 and I-80 coincide at this point for a couple miles. The University of Utah is 12 minutes away via the Red Line or automobile. SLCC is 1 mile away and is a quick bus ride. The airport is a 10 minute drive from the house. You can take the Green Line train to/from the airport and that takes about 30 minutes. Other Things to NoteIt is helpful to me if I can get your estimated time of arrival. You can check in as early as 5 pm; Checkout is 11 am, unless otherwise arranged. The more communication, the better. The Wi-Fi info will be written down in your room. Everything is pretty straight-forward and intuitive.

You can sleep two on the queen in the bedroom, and two on the queen size hide-a-bed sofa in the living room. By the way, we have a Salt Lake City renter's business license, and the apartment has been inspected by the city to meet standards. The apartment has basic cable as well as an Apple TV. Guest AccessWe have a pretty large yard, with outdoor barbecue and seating, and a fun swing set. You will also receive a temporary code to use on the door, so no need to meet up or keep track of pesky keys. You can come-and-go privately as you please. Interaction with GuestsWe live on the upper level of the home and can be available as needed. We love downtown Salt Lake and would be happy to make recommendations for restaurants/bars/things-to-do. Since you will have your own door code, you can choose not to interact with us at all if you desire. The NeighborhoodThere are many historic homes in this neighborhood. It is a beautiful part of town with very easy access to all that Salt Lake offers. There is also the wonderful "City Creek Canyon" within a very short distance, Memory Grove, & the Capitol where we often take walks. You can walk to Temple Square or down to City Creek Mall & Harmon's for groceries. There are many arts, restaurant, and night life options all around. We are truly in the heart of the city. Please take a look at our "Guidebook" section of the AirBnB listing for our favorite recommendations! Getting AroundTrax is only 3 blocks (10 minute walk) from the front door and will take you to the airport and connects to many other parts of Salt Lake Valley. There is also bus service from downtown that will take you to the ski resorts. If needed, you have free on site parking. You can get here from the airport in about 15-20 minutes. Taxi = $25, Trax = $3 (give yourself 40 minutes), Uber/Lyft also pickup at airport for about $15. Salt Lake City also has Lyft and Uber which are both very convenient and affordable. For about $4 you can get around anywhere downtown. Other Things to NoteWe live in the upstairs of this building, and can be available for assistance as needed. However, your apartment has its own entrance, and you will be given a unique code for the lock, so you don't need to interact with us at all if you don't want to. Please note that there are some stairs from the parking area down to your apartment door. You can also walk around the house and avoid most stairs if needed. The entire property is protected with modern alarm/smoke/CO2 detectors. You will also have your own dedicated Wifi network. The TV has an HD antenna and several built in apps (like Netflix).

The SpaceA comfortable and airy downstairs apartment with plenty of natural light, bamboo hardwood floors, a queen-size bed (with a futon in the living room) and a full kitchen in a bungalow style house about 2 miles from downtown and located in a nice neighborhood, a block from shopping, restaurants, yoga, movie theatre and a great café - 9th and 9th area. Separate entrance from the upstairs. Pets are for the most part ok- I would like to hear about your pet before saying yes and I do charge a pet fee to compensate for the extra cleaning. I have a fully fenced large yard. 4 people can sleep in this apartment (no more than 4) but it would be very cramped. I charge $10 per extra person per night to cover the extra laundry. I am willing to negotiate a lower rate for longer stays. I am 25 miles from all ski resorts incl. Park City, Deer Valley, Alta, Snowbird, Brighton and Solitude. Just under 10 miles from the airport. 24-hour Smiths grocery store across the street - stocked! Feel free to contact me and I can tell you more. Guest AccessFor an extra fee and somewhat depending on the circumstances in the upper floor you may have access to a washer and dryer. We can work that out on a as needed basis. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is great ~ tons of restaurants where you can grab a full meal or small bites and a drink. The restaurants are not chains, but unique cuisine with tons of healthy options. There is an alternative theater a block away along with shopping boutiques, yoga and pilates studios, hair salons and a big and beautiful park that contains a bird aviary, running track and more. The 24-hr grocery store across the street is another nice neighborhood convenience. Getting AroundTrax stop is only 4 blocks away (4 Salt Lake blocks mind you) and the bus runs regularly at the end of the street. There is a city bike share here too- quite nice. The SpaceThis luxurious room is on the second floor of a beautiful, restored (2011) American Four Square built in 1903, but with every modern amenity. The room is centrally heated and air conditioned, has a flat screen T.V., a coffee maker, and luxurious linens. There is also a ceiling fan. The bathroom, with double sinks and granite counter top, is shared with one other room--but only if that room has been rented by another party. French doors open to an expansive balcony that provides a view of the Wasatch Mountains. The house is located in the historic district of The Avenues, considered by many to be the most desirable neighborhood in Salt Lake City. It is within walking distance of the Salt Palace Convention Center, as well as the newly opened City Creek complex, one of the largest mixed-used developments in the country, with restaurants, shopping, residential and office space. There is an art film theater a 15 minute walk away. Temple Square, an historical Mormon site, is also within walking distance. The free downtown tram stop is 8 blocks away, and the bus to the University of Utah campus is one block away. (The U of U campus is 3.4 driving miles.) Memory Grove, 2 blocks away is great for walking, jogging and bicycling. 25 miles to Snowbird; 32 miles to Park City; 30 miles to Alta, 28 miles to Solitude. This is also a great location for people seeking a comfortable place to stay while visiting friends/family members in one of the many nearby hospitals. LDS hospital is a 4 block walk away. Need accommodations for more than a party of 2? See our listing for the other (smaller) bedroom adjacent to this one. A light breakfast is served on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Coffee, tea, and fruit are available every day of the week. Please note we have an old grumpy cat on the premises. Non-smokers only! Guest AccessGuests have use of the living room, dining room, kitchen, front porch, back patio, and hammock. Interaction with GuestsWe lead very busy lives, but enjoy meeting our guests. Guests may have as much, or as little, interaction with hosts as desired. The NeighborhoodThe Avenues neighborhood--locally know as "The Aves"-- is generally considered younger, more progressive, and somewhat "artsy" when compared to other neighborhoods in Salt Lake City. The Historic District falls within The Aves. Many young professionals choose to live here due to the culture and easy commute to downtown. It is also one of the most important strongholds of the Democratic political party in Utah. Getting AroundOur public transportation is good but not perfect. The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) has named UTA the Outstanding Public Transportation System of 2014. TRAX, our light rail is free in the city center, and the fare is reasonable everywhere else. The down side is that it runs infrequently at night and on Sundays. Check UTA for schedules.

The SpaceIt is a studio so it is pretty small. Hard wood floors and tile in the bathroom. Nothing fancy, pretty much just does the job. Close to downtown - about 4 or 5 blocks. I don't have A/C unfortunately so it can get a little hot during the summer, but I usually just crack the windows and turn on the fan and it's not too bad. Interaction with GuestsI will drop the key off to you in front of the building when you arrive, and leave you with a paper filled with information you might find handy. The NeighborhoodYou will see a homeless person or two walking around since it is close to downtown. I have felt completely safe there, but i have had a guest or two mention that it may have made them uncomfortable. Please be aware of this. Getting AroundTrax is about 4 or 5 blocks from my house, and that will take you to most places in the valley. If you are looking to go anywhere downtown you will just be able to walk to it pretty easily. Other Things to NoteThere is parking in front of my building, it is technically "2 hour" parking. However, my girlfriend parked there for 5 months and never got a ticket, and i've never had a guest get a ticket either. Just a heads up though that it is not technically Free parking.

The SpaceMy cozy Salt Lake City condos are my trendy, fun, home-away-from-home. I hope they can be yours too. Please call or text me to discuss renting my property at ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). When I travel, I want all the amenities of home. I’m a suburban girl with urban tastes, so I like to have easy access to the airport, easy access to downtown and a short drive to the best skiing in the world. I furnished these condos when I lived in California and am now a Salt Lake City resident. I work in downtown and serve on the board of our complex and know my neighbors well (and they know me!). Feel comfortable knowing you'll have me close by to help out and lend you a hand it you need it. Each unit is in the same complex, next to each other, conveniently nestled just 8 short minutes from the airport and just 2 miles from all the downtown activities. You can get settled in, right after arriving in town. Additionally, you will have gated parking for your vehicle and one dedicated space per unit. When you enter into the condo, you’ll feel right at home. Each condo has the same layout with the same features and amenities, but different decor. One has beautiful granite counters and new kitchen cabinetry, while the other has rich, warm earth tones, warm carpet, and lovely mosaic tile in the kitchen. Both are remodeled bathrooms and kitchens with standard appliances, comfortable Queen beds in the master, and full size beds in the 2nd bedroom. Linens are included for all the beds and I provide towels for up to 4 people. We're also now baby friendly! with a Pack 'n Play and high chair available to you, should you require them, if traveling with little ones. Each unit has new, efficient portable heaters to ensure your comfort in the winter. I love circulating air, so I had beautiful, quiet ceiling fans installed in the bedrooms and the dining area to keep air flowing nicely throughout the unit, in the winter, summer, spring or fall. Enjoy having your privacy with all the amenities you need, without the high price of boring, expensive hotels. Definitely better priced than a hotel suite, with far more to offer! My dedicated cleaning lady keeps these condos very clean with professional pride. Each unit features two flat panel TV's a DVD player and WIFI throughout. The master bedrooms are furnished with real Queen size beds. The second bedrooms are furnished with real Full size beds. The sofabeds pull out into a TwinX bed (up to 69") and in each unit, a twin foldaway bed is also available in the closet of the 2nd bedroom. In addition, in each unit, the 2nd bedroom is furnished with a small desk to get some work completed, or to set up your laptop when you need to get online; the units are WIFI enabled. Two of the three units have a washer and dryer (please ask if the unit you want has a W/D), a fully stocked kitchen featuring new, electric ranges, new dishwashers and new refrigerators! Coffee maker, teapot, toaster, microwave oven and everything you need to cook and serve your delicious meals. Tupperware is also available for your use to pack leftovers in if you are on the run. Minutes to downtown Salt Lake City, this is an ideal location. Not "IN" downtown but just a short 2 mile drive, you’ll have access to the best dining Salt Lake City offers, great museums, grocery stores and shopping at the City Creek Center. Oh! and a Trader Joe's just opened a few miles right up the road. YAY! If you are here for business, you are just 2.33 miles/8 minutes from the Salt Palace Convention Center and have quick access to the I-80, I-215 and I-15 freeways. If you aren't interested in renting a car, no worries. A 10 min taxi from the airport, and you can catch the 516 bus around the corner and it takes you just a block from the Salt Palace or other convenient, downtown locations. Maps of the bus route and local ski areas are available in my directories located in the unit. Whether it be for a sporting event, business meetings, a conference, LDS activites or Temple, these affordable condos are just a quick 10 minutes from all the downtown activities. For skiers looking to save some money, it’s just a 20 minute drive to the best snow on earth at Snowbird & Alta, Brighton & Solitude. Or for more winter action, just a 30 minute drive to Park City, Deer Valley & the Canyons. Snow Basin and Powder Mountain are just up the I-15 too (see my Ogden rental for these ski areas). Summertime brings great hiking, biking, fishing or day trips to Utah’s world-famous canyons. **Approximate Driving Distances from Condo*** Convention Center: 6-8 minutes Salt Lake Temple: 6-8 minutes SLC Ski Resorts: 35-40 minutes* Park City Resorts: 30-40 minutes* * Pending weather conditions and traffic Guest AccessPool is under repair and will be closed the 2016 season. Interaction with GuestsI prefer to leave my guests alone during their stay, but if they need me I am only a call, text, or email away (text or email preferred). I travel often but make myself available as much as I can if needed. The NeighborhoodGuests who attend conferences at the Salt Palace, visit Temple Square or need a location close to downtown at a great price find this unit in a great location. I’ve hosted long-term consultants for KPMG, casts for the theater, business people, etc. This condo complex is 2 miles from the city center, just outside the downtown urban area. I call it the "urban suburban", which is an "urban community"; close enough to the great downtown activities but still in a neighborhood suburb, without being in the sleepy suburbs, located about 15-20 minutes from downtown. The homeless shelter is in downtown, so beware of considering staying there unless you want to be approached by panhandlers. Some of my guests wonder about my neighborhood, as it is not in the pricey Avenues, but I have owned since 2007, with three properties (2 exclusive vacation rentals) and lived on this property now 2 years. I am on the board of our association and know all my neighbors. They are kind, LDS neighbors and of course I'm always around to make you feel welcomed. Getting AroundThe access to the freeways is so close I can zip around to anywhere I need to be fast, without a lot of city traffic to meander through. The parking lot exits at W 200 S so this is a straight shot to downtown, the Salt Palace (also on W 200 S) and very convenient to enjoy downtown activities. There is a city bus that you can catch right around the corner, which will take you to downtown or a TRAX station if you don't want to rent a car. 8 minutes by taxi or car. $10 taxi ride to the Salt Palace. A bus route is in the condo directory, guest are now using Uber. If you haven't used Uber before, let me know I can get you a referral code to get your first ride free! Other Things to NoteThere is a great farmer's market in Washington Square downtown on Saturdays (400W & 400 S) . Definitely worth checking into if you have the time or interest during the summer. There is also a winter farmer's market at the Rio Grande every other Saturday.

You and your fellow guests will be the only people on the property. The NeighborhoodUnbeatable location, location. LOCATION!!! This house is so incredibly well and conveniently located to EVERYTHING, it's ridiculous!! :-) Getting AroundSLC is ranked number two in the United States for public transportation. The University Stadium Trax line stop is located just two 1/2 blocks from the house. It will take you to and from the airport, downtown, and anywhere in the valley you wish to travel. You can also ride Trax to connect to the FrontRunner, a train that takes you North to Odgen, UT and South to Provo, UT. Should you not want to take the Trax, cab fare from the airport is about $20.00 for the short 8-10 minute drive.

The SpaceThis unit is the completely separate and private lower level of an Avenues house that was converted into a duplex many years ago. As a duplex, the unit has its own street address, driveway, carport, and patio, all completely separate from the upper unit. The laundry room and the upper deck in the pictures are shared with the upper unit. The house was built in 1959, so it is not as old as many of the other Avenues houses in the same historic district, but it is also not brand new. We get many favorable comments about how quiet and quaint it is, but some guests have said it was older than they expected, so we have updated this description with more details about the age of the various components. The exterior and the upper level duplex were extensively updated in about 1985, but the lower-level apartment in this listing has a 1950’s retro feel. The furniture is from about 1995, but the hardwood floor, kitchen cabinets, and bathroom fixtures are older. The hardwood and linoleum floors, and the kitchen cabinets, are scuffed and stained in places. They are clean, but scuffed. The electrical outlets are mostly the old two-prong type, except the kitchen wiring has been updated with a couple of three-prong outlets, and there are several three-prong adapters so you can plug in your three-prong charger cords. The major appliances are from 1995. The furnace is a brand new energy-efficient 2014 model, with a NEST smart thermostat. The microwave oven is from 2014. The TV is a 2015 Smart TV with every cable channel available including HBO and Showtime. It has a super strong and fast WIFI network on a 2015 router. The laundry facilities where the washer and dryer are located, along with free laundry detergent, are in a storage room belonging to the upper unit. So it is non-private and is full of boxes, equipment, and other storage items for the upper unit. Because it is not part of the rental unit, we do not clean it regularly and ask that you not give us a bad cleaning review because of the laundry room, since it is not part of the rental. It is not tidy and organized, although we are working on cleaning it out and making it nicer, but the washer and dryer are from 1995 and are easily accessible and fully functional. Also, you can lock your unit off from the laundry room as it is not part of the unit. We ask that you not use the laundry room before 10:00 a.m. or after 11:00 p.m. as it makes noise upstairs. The house is built on the hill sloping up from downtown, so even though the unit is the lower-level, it is not a basement. But it's position makes it cooler in the summer. The kitchen, dining room, living room, and second bedroom are all fully above ground and level with the driveway, patio, and carport. The master bedroom is about four-feet below ground so the bedroom window is about level with the ground and has a quiet and private feel even though the fully above-ground large window gives full sunlight and view. The master bedroom also has a 2014 full black-out window shade, so it’s great for sleeping in late with the darkness and quiet. The unit, the driveway, carport, and patio are all on one-level so there are no stairs, except one-step leading from the unit to the back storage room leading to the laundry room. It is great for loading and unloading your vehicle and luggage and for wheel chair access. The lower-level patio is close to the neighbors with a four-feet high wall, so it is not completely private from the neighbor’s back lawn, but it is separate and private from the upper unit. It is shaded with big trees and provides a somewhat limited, but still interesting, view of downtown. The shared upper deck, which is accessible through the laundry room and up a flight of outdoor stairs, has a stunning view of both the mountains and the entire Salt Lake Valley. The deck furniture is bare bones, no umbrella shade, but there is a corner of the deck under a shady tree. The unit is two miles (7 minutes) from Salt Lake City's convention center and the new City Creek Mall; and 26 miles (40 minutes) to most of the major ski resorts. As for pets, any single, well-behaved cat or dog is permitted. Please just describe your pet in a message. Two cats or dogs will also most likely be fine for shorter stays. Just send me an inquiry before booking if you have more than one. There is a patch of lawn and a patch of dirt just outside the back door that pets can use for bathroom purposes, but it is not completely sealed off so pets can escape if not watched. Please do not leave a dog alone in the unit unattended if it has any tendency to bark while unattended in an unfamiliar place. If you leave a dog unattended and it barks for more than a few minutes, you will be asked to come back and remedy the situation. There is a city bus stop located across the street with weekday, but not weekend, service. It is a 10 minute bus ride to downtown where you can transfer to a TRAX line, ski bus or other buses to take you nearly anywhere in the Salt Lake valley and all ski resorts. Taxi, Uber, and shuttles to ski resorts are available. The neighborhood full-service grocery store and deli, and the State liquor store, are only one-half mile away. Several quaint neighborhood restaurants, deli's and coffee shops only one-half to one mile away. The entrance to City Creek canyon is only 1.5 miles away, an easy flat jog or bike ride. Smoking is allowed anywhere outside, including on both the private patio and the shared upper deck. I am upstairs and happy to help if you need anything but if you like privacy, many guests come and go without even meeting me. The master bedroom is good-sized and has a king bed, a 1/2 bath, and a large window with a full black-out blind for total darkness and privacy. The second bedroom has a queen bed. There is also an inflatable full size Air Bed mattress for extra guests that would easily fit in the living room. There is also a Pack n Play for babies available on request. The kitchen comes fully equipped for most cooking needs, including microwave, electric oven & stove, dishwasher, garbage disposal, blender, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, glasses, etc. If you need something not there, like certain spices or utensils, just shoot me a text & I usually can supply it immediately from my upstairs supply. Both heating and cooling are dedicated systems that service only the downstairs duplex independent from the upstairs space. So you have full control of heating and cooling. Air conditioning is through a permanently- installed wall unit in the kitchen that cools the entire unit. And the downstairs location makes it cooler than the upstairs. In addition, there are two portable fans to use in the bedrooms at night to help circulate the cooled air. However, if the bedroom doors are closed during the night, it is possible the bedrooms will not be as cool in the hottest part of the summer. We have not received any complaints about it being too hot, except for one guest, but we don't know if that guest had the bedroom doors closed or used the fans. Heating is through a brand-new, energy-efficient furnace with a digital NEST thermostat with a locked range of from 56 to 72 degrees. If in the winter, 72 degrees still feels too cold for you, please message me to discuss setting a higher maximum temperature for the times you are in the house and awake. We are flexible within reason, especially during the day, but we ask that guests help us control energy costs by living with a 72 degree maximum and also consider a voluntary lower sleep time setting. We want to avoid having a guest "set it and forget it" at above 72 even while they are out and about or all night while asleep. Guest AccessThe living space and downstairs patio is completely private, including the full kitchen, two bedrooms, living room, dining room, bathrooms & a back furnace/storage room. Exclusive use of full driveway and covered carport. Carport fits one vehicle and the exclusive driveway accommodates a second vehicle. This makes off-street parking for two vehicles plus plenty of on-street parking. The laundry facilities are in a storage room belonging to the upstairs unit, but locks off from your downstairs unit with a one-way lock that you control. Access to shared upper deck with great mountain & city views. Ironing board, iron, and hair dryer included. Interaction with GuestsBefore you arrive, you will be given the location of a hidden key, allowing you to check in at any time of the day or night without any need to meet me or to specify your arrival time. Or if you like, we can meet you and give you a quick tour and answer any questions you may have. I live in the upstairs duplex and am usually home at nights and on weekends to address any issues. In addition, I am always available by text or phone and I work only 10 minutes away, and can be there in minutes if needed. My adult daughter, is also available on short notice if I am not. We are happy to give you tips and guidance about transportation and dining. We can usually supply any extra items, like kitchen spices, special cooking utensils, etc, that you may want. But unless you request us, you can come and go in complete privacy without even meeting us. Your unit is completely private and separate, except for the shared laundry room which is locked off from your unit with a one-way lock and key that you control. The NeighborhoodHistoric Avenues district of downtown Salt Lake City close to bus lines. Getting AroundLocated close to bus line. Other Things to NoteBeautiful downstairs duplex in a house built on the hill so it is above ground level with walk-out patio and carport parking right next to front door. We have hosted several guests in wheelchairs and they liked the fact that the unit is all on one single level, but the unit does not meet all of the wheelchair accessibility standards so we cannot say it is fully wheelchair accessible. The unit is on the same level as the driveway and carport, with no stairs except there is a six-inch threshold at the front door. So if you have a wheelchair, you will need help to get over the threshold, but once inside, it is all one level except there is a one-step to the back furnace room and shared laundry. So if you are alone and use a wheel chair, you would need help getting over the threshold and the laundry room would not be totally accessible without assistance. The shared upper deck can be reached via wheel chair but would require rolling across a short grassy area, through a back fence, and another single step to the upper deck. Also, the bathrooms are too small for a wheelchair and there is no bar in the shower to hang on to. Kitchen includes microwave, blender, toaster & coffee maker.

The NeighborhoodThe western slope of Capitol Hill is called the "Marmalade District" after marmalade fruit jam because of the streets named after fruit trees imported and planted there such as apricot, quince and almond. Most of the original streets of Salt Lake City are aligned to and named after cardinal directions, and exceptions to this rule are often named. The Avenues are one example. The irregular, narrow, and steep roads of the Marmalade District are another. The district is often considered among the most architecturally diverse in Utah residential neighborhoods. Early examples of Utah vernacular architecture sit alongside diverse turn-of-the-century styles such as Gothic revival homes, Victorian mansions, and eclectic houses of various combinations of adobe, brick, and carpentry. Getting AroundUber and Lyft are readily available and only a few dollars to downtown and about $12 to the airport. Public bus is 3 blocks away.
