The SpaceComplete privacy in this roughly 400 sq. foot master bedroom suite, with large bathroom that includes a separate shower and jacuzzi bath. Often, the rest of the house may be empty, but even if we're there, we'll respect your privacy. Guests may use the full house, including the fireplaces, stereo, internet, music room, and chef's kitchen, screened porch, and outdoor grill. This is our vacation home so we may not be around, but my brother lives upstairs. This means that you get free range of our large kitchen, 3-acre backyard, and the two grand pianos in our music room. Old Bennington is filled with historic, colonial homes from the 18th century. The Bennington Battle Monument is a short walking distance, and a fun way to get an aerial view of three states. Robert Frost's grave is a short walk away, as is the Bennington Museum, which has a superb collection of Grandma Moses paintings. Bennington College is 2 miles away. There are 3 covered bridges within 3 miles of our house. It's probably best if you have a car, though there's superb cycling from the house. We'll leave maps for excellent 5-100 mile rides, and we have a place to hang your bicycle. "Downtown" Bennington and North Bennington are each a 5-minute drive, and feature lovely shops and restaurants. If you like to walk, there are two land trusts filled with miles of paths. Guest AccessThe downstairs of the house, though we only permit 1-2 guests in the bedroom. Interaction with GuestsNone, unless they specifically would like interaction. The NeighborhoodOld Bennington is charming. Getting AroundWalking distance to downtown Bennington.

The SpaceI designed and built this cottage personally with a friend in 2013 to be a beautiful retreat for friends and family to come visit. In the times that we are not personally hosting, we thought that others might enjoy the use of our cottage. It is a romantic and private place. It has a front porch that overlooks the pond and is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the evening with friends. Guest AccessGuests have access to the area of the property around the cottage which includes the pond. Free Wi-Fi and cable TV is included. Interaction with GuestsThe appeal of this rental is its privacy. We will always respect that, but will be happy to help in any way needed. The NeighborhoodWe fell in love with this location because while it is located close to Bennington town it is also private and quiet. The property is beautiful, featuring a large pond stocked with trout and frequented by eagles and blue herons. The outlet stream features a covered bridge and waterfall. There is a vibrant wildlife community that makes a home of the pond and adjacent wetlands. We are walking distance from Bennington College, 3 miles from Bennington, and about 20 miles from Williamstown and the Manchester Center outlets. Bennington is the historical center of Vermont with easy access to the Bennington Monument - the tallest structure in the state - as well as the historic Bennington Battlefield. Mount Equinox is the tallest peak in southern Vermont and is about 20 miles away from the cottage. We are within a short driving distance to the Green Mountain National Forest for hiking and there are many large lakes in the area for water activities. Other Things to NoteThis is more of a vacation rental than your typical budget AirBnB listing. You will not be sharing the space and you will have total privacy in and around the cottage. Our home is on the other side of the property, about 200 yards away, over a large pond, stream, and covered bridge. In the summer there is no direct line of site once foliage is in.

The SpaceThis is a remote one room cabin in the woods, good for the adventurous romantics who are looking for total seclusion. The space is cozy and warm when the fire places are going, so be ready to keep wood on the fire. Wood is included, along with propane for lanterns and dual burner cook stove, also a propane heater. Please note DO NOT WALK on the Nordic cross-country ski trails! Guest AccessThe place is all yours. The wood is included and already stocked in the cabin! Try and help me conserve wood and only burn the pot belly stove, you can let the fire die out at night and use the propane heater to sleep in, and DO NOT walk on the Nordic cross country ski trails. Interaction with GuestsBe prepared for off road driving if the road is open. Be ready for a temperature difference because the camp is at a higher elevation at 2300 feet. It can get really cold at night, so be ready for that; a thermal sleeping bag would not be a bad idea to bring with you. There are some extra warm clothes at the cabin feel free to use them. I take pride in having the place 100% ready for guests who stay at Camp Snook! DO NOT walk on the Nordic cross country ski trails for any reason. The NeighborhoodThere are two houses you will need to drive past. Just go slow and don't make much noise until you get to the camp. The road to this cabin crosses three Nordic cross-country ski trails, DO NOT for any reason, walk, snowshoe, hike, crawl, what have you. They are groomed and if you walk on them they can get ruined and might have to be closed off, and that's a big deal the owner works hard to keep the trails perfect so please take note of this. Getting AroundBring your walking boots, bikes, kayak and some motivation, or just hang out at the cabin and play some board games, read, or just sit on the porch and relax. Take note of this in winter DO NOT WALK on the Nordic cross-country ski trails for any reason. Other Things to NotePlease be fire safe, no candles please, be careful with the lanterns, do not place them near the wood. DO NOT WALK on the ski trails for any reason ever.

The SpaceThe space is sunny and light, post-and-beam construction with lots of windows and views of the meadow and gardens (and in the winter views of the mountains.) There is a Jotul woodstove for cozy nights but for those who don't want to light a stove the house has radiant heat on the floors. The bathroom is very rustic, with a brick floor (also with radiant heat in the winter which makes it very nice after a bath or shower!) Kitchen is basic. Cupboards are stocked with basic supplies. Guest AccessIf you reserve the entire house you will have access to the entire house with the exception of my study, which is off the master bedroom. Interaction with GuestsI will be available to help and answer questions during your visit. I will be here to greet you and help you settle in. If you are just a single person or a couple, staying for a short time, I may be in the house as well, but you will have free run of the place even if I am here. The NeighborhoodThe neighbohood is rural. Across the road is a young family with a farm, two children, and dogs. There are only two other houses on the road (dead end) and they are occupied by lovely outdoorsy folks. Getting AroundThere is ample parking at the house. Public trans barely exists in Southern Vermont, sorry to say! But there is the Green Mountain bus which has routes to Manchester (half an hour away) for shopping, and a regular bus to Albany (about 40 miles) to the airport and train. Other Things to NoteThere is no television in the house. if you have a laptop computer you may be able to access programs on that. There is no microwave in the kitchen. There is a very comfortable double air mattress that can be set up in the living room (if you don't want to put a guest on the sofa, or if you have 2 people for the living room.)

The SpaceOur house was built in 1812 but has had numerous renovations over the years, though it still has a lot of rustic charm. The house boasts the original wide pine floors in much of the house and is furnished artistically. *We only rent to one group at a time, but there are two private guest bedrooms to choose from as well as futon couch that opens up to accommodate large groups. Beds have soft and cozy, flannel sheets. ** If two guests want to use both private bedrooms, please register as three guests. If you want to use the extra futon in the common space, please register as 5-6 guests. 1) Bedroom one is a private room and has a queen sized bed. This room still has the personal items left behind by a college student who comes home periodically. There are hooks and empty drawers for you to put your personal items. 2) The second private bedroom can accommodate one or two people. It is NOT a common space as the listing suggests. (Airbnb will not let me list a second bedroom.) It has one twin sized bed and an additional fold-up foam chair that opens up to make another sleeping spot that is surprisingly comfortable. This room has an empty closet and dresser for guests' use. 3) The futon couch in the upstairs living room also opens up into a queen sized bed. This IS in the open area common space and is not private, but when this bed is in use, the hosts will not sleep upstairs. (If you plan to use this bed, please remember to book as 5-6 people.) All of the bedrooms (including hosts' bedroom-but the hosts are hardly ever upstairs so it is quite private for guests) and the full bath are upstairs and surround the living room/common space which is set up with a table and chairs, small fridge, microwave, coffee pot, hot pot, and dishes. This room has a comfy recliner chair and a futon couch. The downstairs has a half bath and a yoga/meditation room which guests are welcome to use as well as access to the beautiful grounds. Guest AccessBedroom(s) Upstairs living room/common area Upstairs and downstairs bathroom Yoga and meditation room Outside deck and grounds Downstairs living room to watch TV or a movie. (Our TV is ancient and our cable package is the most basic, but there are Red Box Video rentals at several locations in Bennington. (We also have a portable tv, dvd combo unit available if you want to watch privately in your room.) Interaction with GuestsWe are pretty busy, but we can also be quite social when time allows and if guests desire that. Mostly we are sensitive to and respect the social or private needs of our guests. Nancy will greet guests to orient them, and she is happy to share information about the area or show you her Red Barn Pottery studio. Guests are welcome to join us in the kitchen for morning coffee (and often homemade bread) or keep to themselves upstairs. The NeighborhoodIt is so peaceful and beautiful and the people are so friendly! There are many wonderful places to walk either directly from the house or within a 5-10 minute car ride. Getting AroundYou need a car. Though the bike riding is also fabulous. Other Things to NoteWe have two ten year old cats who live upstairs and generally mind their own business. Our dog is a friendly and cuddly cockapoo who does not shed. We have opened our home to many guests over the years: friends, family, and friends of friends and family. We are very community minded and enjoy sharing our wonderful space and getting to meet new people.
