The SpaceSmall village setting with room to breath. Open dining and living space and newly renovated kitchen. Cooking tools, bed and bath amenities included. We, love books; please enjoy the stocked bookcase. Guest AccessThe cottage is all yours, the lawn space is shared with a neighboring townhouse. These good folks have cats(so you know). Please do not enter the basement or attic and I won't poke around yours. Interaction with GuestsI live in the neighboring town of Royalton, so I'm only fifteen minutes away. I'll gladly meet you at check in if it is agreed upon before you arrive. I'll let you know, seasonally, what's going on in the surrounding towns, what the locals do for fun and where the best places yet-to-be discovered are hiding. The coffee/tea set up is for you to enjoy along with that little surprise treat. If you're considering having someone show you around, or might like dinner or groceries waiting when you arrive, let me know and perhaps we can work something out. The NeighborhoodI grew up here. You're staying in my family's old general store: the Valley View Variety. That wonderful octagon library, ancient cemetery, river branch and covered bridge were my hangouts. Check them out. You're not far from Randolph's Chandler Center for the Arts, Tunbridge Fairgrounds, farmer markets, fishing, swimming, cross country ski trails, snowmobiling and downhill slopes. Getting AroundYou're right on Route 14 with easy access to I89. Free parking. Other Things to NoteAs of now, cell service is hit or miss, but very solid outside by the mailbox. There's no TV, but lots of books. There are laundry facilities in Bethel and Royalton. Comfy, but rustic. Let me know what extras you might need.

The SpaceThe cabin is a nature lovers dream. Set back off a dirt road you can watch the deer at dusk and dawn, curious chipmunks, hovering hummingbirds, and probably the most oblivious turkeys in America, all wandering around nearby. You can pick apples off the apple trees in the fall and blackberries in the summer. At night enjoy the fire pit beneath a 30ft pine wrapped in christmas lights for an evening meal. Play bocce, or horseshoes, or take one of the bikes for a spin, or hike the land. Or perhaps just sit and slow the world down for a while. Guest AccessYou will have access to 20 acres and the trails throughout them. Interaction with GuestsSomeone will be available during your stay. The NeighborhoodThe cabin is on the Tunbridge S. Royalton town line. In S. Royalton you will find a village green with an organic market, a several of restaurants, a diner, a laundry, and a couple of bars. The White river runs through it and is great for tubing, swimming, and fishing (with permits). If you go into Tunbridge you will find the World Agricultural Fair site and venture in to a pastoral setting that exemplifies Vermonts beautiful rural history. Getting AroundYou should have a car to enjoy the area. Bikes are great for the paved roads, but some of the dirt roads might be challenging. There is no public transportation. Other Things to NoteWh

Guest AccessAirbnb does not have a good way to categorize outdoor campsites (there is room for 16+ people, but there are no bedrooms, and no beds!), so please read the "Other Things to Note" carefully to see if we are the right place for you. We hope so! Interaction with GuestsYou are welcome to explore our fields and woods. The house, barn, trailer, and outbuildings are off-limits. Other Things to NoteAirbnb does not have a good way to categorize outdoor campsites. We have room for 16+ people on our property, but it's all outdoors, and up to you to supply the "bedrooms" and "beds"! Please read this description carefully to see if we are the right place for you. We hope so! Facilities The camping facilities are very primitive, including only: - Cleared areas in the woods and field to pitch your tent. Some areas have fire pits and log benches. You must bring your own tent(s) and gear. - Portapotty in woods. - Outdoor shower (propane hot water on demand) in the field. Note that if if you camp in the woods, you will be 1/4 mile or more away from the shower. - There are no waste receptacles onsite. You are expected to take all trash with you and leave the site as clean as you found it. Getting to the Camp Site From I-89 (Vermont's major highway) exit 3, it is only about a 5-minute drive to our property. We have a driveway/parking lot adjacent to our ranch house. Parking is free. It is about a 1/4 to 1 mile distance from the parking area to the tent sites. If you plan to use your vehicle to bring your gear to your tent site, be aware that the access road is dirt and narrow in places. Cars with a relatively high undercarriage clearance (like a Subaru Outback) that go slowly should be fine. Low clearance sporty vehicles run the risk of scraping. Small camping trailers might be okay but RV’s and 5th-wheel tow behind trailers won’t make it. If you pre-arrange it, we may be able to use our Polaris Ranger to bring you and your gear to and from your tent site. Please ask us ahead of time. Otherwise, this is the great outdoors. There are managed walking paths, a lovely brook, plenty of trees, and several small “shrines” of standing or stacked stones. The view of the mountains is incredible. And we can see so many stars at night! You are welcome to come and go as you please. The town of Bethel has a couple cute restaurants and shops. Plus, highway access makes it very easy to take day trips around the state. Arrival/ Departure: All arrival times must be pre-arranged so someone is onsite to check you in and orient you. We try to be flexible. Departures are by noon. You are welcome to explore our fields and woods. The house, barn, trailer, and outbuildings are off-limits.

The SpaceOther than being the most beautiful place in the whole world, our property has just about everything you need for a killer getaway. On the farm, we grow flowers and vegetables, raise pigs, chickens, and work with a team of Belgian draft horses. In the morning we always provide coffee (roasted by Abracadabra in Cavendish) and toast, from bread that we make weekly with wheat grown by Roger's Farmstead, up in Berlin, VT. There are miles of hiking / running / skiing / snowshoeing trails in our 260 acres of woods and a spring-fed swimming pond for dipping, lounging, floating and/or chicken fights. We are 10 minutes from Bethel, Randolph and Rochester for adorable small town VT vibes, and 45 minutes from Montpelier, Hanover / WRJ, Woodstock, Middlebury and Killington, for those with grander cultural or commercial ambitions. Guest AccessYou're welcome to use all the communal spaces - living room, library, porch, pond and woods. We're unfortunately no longer able to offer access to the kitchen, as we've had poor experiences with guests using the kitchen in the past. You're welcome to store a few things in the fridge if you'd like though. As the season allows, you're welcome to walk the farm, check out the crops and say hello to the animals, so long as you are aware that the sights and smells are that of a working farm, and the electric fence is on. Interaction with GuestsWe're around the home and farm just about always, and will be glad to help you with any needs that arise. The NeighborhoodWe're in the glorious Piedmont hills of Vermont (foothills of the Green Mountains). These hills are riddled with hiking, swimming spots, small farms, craftspeople, and all manner of natural beauty. Excellent access to I-89 and only a jaunt to Norwich/Hanover, Woodstock, Montpelier, White River, Middlebury and Burlington. Getting AroundWe have very poor cell reception here and close to the farm, it's a good idea to load up your GPS directions well in advance, if you are using a mobile device. Other Things to NoteIf we are booked here, check out our other listing, 'Stitchdown Farm Locust Room' As we have two other rooms available, depending on the time of year and alignment of the stars, there may be other guests staying with us at the same time. All three rooms share the same adjacent bathroom. The wireless connection in our old farmhouse tends to be willful. As such, it rarely works in this room. There seems to be an impenetrable mystery wall 6 steps outside the door. There is wireless access in most of the house, of which you are welcome to use as much as you'd like. Find the many small bridges, hiking paths through the woods, mint patches and the Singing Meadow bee hives. Interaction with GuestsCheck in at the farm house when you arrive and Jinny or one of the other farmer hosts will greet you and orient you to the property. They are happy to answer questions and can help you purchase farm products available in season. You are invited to tag-along-on-chores in the morning, pick their own veggies with one of the farmers and see what is happening on the farm. Children should always be accompanied by adults when exploring. The NeighborhoodThe area around the farm is typical of the rural back dirt roads of Vermont. Neighbors are nearby but we hardly see their buildings. Four Springs Farm is not far off the interstate and 5 miles from two local villages. The SpaceThis is a 200 year old farmhouse. It is very casual, and I realize from feedback that it's important to note there is plenty of character, and there are plenty of idiosyncrasies. I find that people who love old houses, love the house. My home is definitely late 20th century living, but not entirely 21st century. For an old house the bedrooms and living spaces are quite large. Guest AccessLiving room with fireplace Large kitchen has an island with seating for gathering/dining Dining room Guest bathroom with claw foot tub/shower Half bath off kitchen (minor upgrades being made to the library/media room and 1st floor bath with shower) Interaction with GuestsI am currently using my apartment next door when I have guests. So, I am readily available. If I am at work, or staying with friends nearby, I can be reached by phone and can generally make myself available. "tis the season, of course." So anything I can, I will recommend. The Joseph Smith birthplace is magical, no matter what your beliefs! The NeighborhoodThe house is just off Routes 107 and 12, which are very well maintained by the state. Poplar Manor Rd. is town maintained, and the Putnam house is the only property on the road. There are two other homes at the other end of the road, Old Turnpike Road. A short walk (or drive) away are a gas station and convenience store, as well as a casual restaurant, "The Creek House." It is a short walk or drive to a gas station and convenience store Getting AroundThere is no public transportation nearby. There is an Amtrak Station 9 miles away in Randolph, VT. It is about two miles to the village of Bethel which has a small grocery store, ATMs, Post Office, great pizza restaurant, and a sandwich shop. Other Things to NoteI have 2 golden retrievers. They stay with me at the house when I don't have guests, or with me in my apartment. Something to consider, in case allergies are a concern.

The SpaceOther than being the most beautiful place in the whole world, our property has just about everything you need for a killer getaway. On the farm, we grow flowers and vegetables, raise pigs, chickens, and work with a team of Belgian draft horses. In the morning we always provide coffee (roasted by Carrier Roasting in Randolph or Abracadabra in Cavendish) and toast, from bread that we make weekly with wheat grown by Roger's Farmstead, up in Berlin, VT. There are miles of hiking / running / skiing / snowshoeing trails in our 250 acres of woods and a spring-fed swimming pond for dipping, lounging, floating and/or chicken fights. As the season allows, you're welcome to walk, ski or snowshoe the farm, check out the crops and say hello to the animals, so long as you are aware that the sights and smells are that of a working farm, and the electric fence is on. Other Things to NoteIf we are booked here, check out our other listing, "Stitchdown Farm Walnut Room" or "Stitchdown Farm Willow Room" As we have two other rooms available, depending on the time of year and alignment of the stars, there may be other guests staying with us at the same time. All three rooms share the same adjacent bathroom. The wireless connection in our old farmhouse tends to be willful. As such, it works about 93% of the time in this room. There is an infrequent mystery wall erected which reduces it's efficacy. For more photographs of the farm and what's happening on it, check out (URL HIDDEN)

This cozy log cabin in Tunbridge Vermont is the perfect getaway for a family or a couples retreat. Nestled in the hills of central Vermont by the White River, the cabin is set back off a dirt road on 20 wooded acres with trails, blackberry bushes and apple trees. A large fire pit is available for s'mores and staying warm on cool nights under the stars. When it is time to go inside there is a TV and DVD player with a large collection of movies to choose from, and wi-fi so you can stay plugged in if you need to. In the summer their is hiking, with access to the appalachian trail, and fishing, kayaking, and tubing in the nearby White River(10min). In the fall, just being outside is enough. The fall colors in Vermont are astonishing and should be on everyone's bucket list. The winter brings Skiing, and from the cabin there are four different mountains nearby. Killington(45min), Pico(45min), Suicide Six(30min), Quechee(30min). There is cross country skiing at Mt. Tom and locally at the Fair grounds.
