The SpaceThis is our home... we love it and according to most we keep it reasonably tidy. At the same time, we lead rich lives and try not to stress if things get backed up now and then. Rest assured that our listing rooms and linens are always cleaned before the arrival of each new guest.
Same goes for the guest bathroom upstairs-- however, it is a shared space and may at any time reflect some use! If we're around, please let us know if it needs attention; if not, there are cleaning supplies in the hall closet just outside the bathroom :)
There are still a few places in our home awaiting renovation, mainly in the way of “finishing touches”. Each area has full functionality.
PLEASE NOTE: If you book within 24 hours of arrival, we may not be able to clean your room until the late afternoon. You are still welcome to arrive as early as 1 p.m. and use the facilities. Guest AccessOur property includes over an acre of outdoor space with beautiful views and plenty of sun, shade, lawn chairs, a tree swing and a fire pit to use at your leisure. (We can help you set up a fire if we're available-- the more advance notice, the more likely we can!)
Between May 1st and October 15th, we also include the use of our kayaks and canoe, paddles and lifejackets; these must be reserved at the time of booking if available. Local and regional river and lake access options are plentiful.
The kitchen is available for use anytime-- feel free to rummage through cabinets and drawers for cookware, dishes and utensils. Please note however that our kitchen is NOT the main focus of the listing, and it is likely to be in various states of "lived-in" at any given moment!
Laundry may also be available depending on timing; please check with us about it, and plan to leave a dollar in the hall basket for each load.
Children are always welcome. They must be supervised at all times; the house and grounds are not childproofed.
Pets are welcome. We ourselves have pet rats, who are completely contained in a cage in the Rat Room. Please keep pets and children out of that room; you are also welcome to close it off and latch it from the outside (top left of the door).
There is plenty of space within the home and outdoors to keep pets and/or guests separate as necessary. Let us know your needs and preferences at the time of booking and we can easily find ways to help ensure your comfort. Interaction with GuestsWe may or may not be present during your stay. Our daughter sometimes Kathryn co-hosts when we're away, along with her boyfriend Jonah. One of us will be available most of the time through this website, or we will arrange an alternate communication plan with you.
If we are around, we'd love to get to know you! Always feel free to make yourself at home in the shared spaces of the house :)
Please let us know if anything needs to be fixed, cleaned, tidied or otherwise cared for, and we will take care of it promptly if at all possible. Fair ratings from guests are important to us, and we prefer to learn about a problem sooner rather than later, in case there is any chance we might be able to take care of it. The NeighborhoodBeautiful tree-lined street with plenty of space between houses, kind neighbors and very little traffic.
Walking distance to town with all amenities including restaurants (most close by 8 or 9 p.m.), library, churches, shops and basic groceries. Large supermarket, drug store and other churches and stores within 2 miles, including the famous Farm-Way outdoor outfitters, gift shop and more.
There are also several parks in Bradford:
Elizabeth’s Park... Huge playground that families come from miles around to enjoy.
Denny Park... Gazebo and green space in the middle of downtown with views of the White Mountains.
Boch Park... Also downtown on Main Street, overlooks the dam on the Waits River and its beautiful waterfall! Getting AroundBradford is located in the VT/NH Upper Valley and is central to just about everything in the Green and White Mountains. All sorts of popular destinations are readily accessible for a day trip by car, and many by bicycle, including the Northeast Kingdom, the Presidential Mountain Range and Lake Champlain. Ask us too about all the local options for hiking, boating, snow sports, scenic tours, music, theater and more. Other Things to NoteThis is a musicians' household, with rehearsals and house concerts from time to time. We'll let you know at the time of booking if there are any such events scheduled during quiet hours for the time of your stay. If there is no music previously scheduled and you prefer the home to stay quiet during your stay, please let us know.
Most of our band rehearsals and all of our events are open for listeners-- feel free to join us if we're having one :)
