The SpaceThe first and smaller bedroom has a queen bed, north-facing bay window, TV. The second, larger bedroom has a full bed, windows north and east, and a TV. The single bathroom has a small (I call it "elfin") tub with shower and is next in line for remodeling. There are two toasty gas stoves for ambiance and foot warming (a modern furnace heats the house). Because this one of a kind house in a magical spot was designed and mostly built by amateurs starting in the 50's, it has its quirks. While very comfortable, its restoration/remodeling is still a work in progress. If you're looking for pristine, this probably isn't the place for you. Guest AccessWhile the current listing is for the entire house, I sometimes can let the smaller bedroom with a shared bath. My dog, cat, and I would be at home under those circumstances. You will have access to the entire house and grounds. A price adjustment would be made accordingly. Interaction with GuestsI'm available by phone if you need assistance. The NeighborhoodThe house is two miles up a well-maintained dirt road. The immediate surroundings are rural... houses far from one another, working dairy farms within walking distance. The road and grounds are great for walking. There are restaurants, general and hardware stores, and gas within three or four miles; grocery store, outlet stores, balloon ride within seven miles. Other Things to NoteAn indoor cat goes with the house. As a consequence, a bit of cat-care goes with the rental.

The SpaceMy house is a cute split level that I painted a fun shade of purple. I moved in Summer 2016 and I'll be making improvements in the future. But for now, it's cozy and colorful - decorated with art and collectibles from my travels around the world. The sounds at night include crickets, owls, and wild turkeys. I feel so lucky to be living life among the trees with space to breathe fresh air and slow down at the end of each day. If you like to relax on your vacations, this is the place for you! Guest AccessI have a guest room on the main level with a queen size bed and memory foam mattress. This room is cozy, clean and you'll feel right at home. I also have a room in the basement with natural light, a queen size bed and a memory foam mattress. That room needs a little TLC - and renovations are forthcoming - but for now, it's cozy and private and you'll sleep like a champ! We'll share a bathroom, the spacious kitchen and living room. I have TV with too many channels, wifi, and comphy couches for reading, chatting, and winding down. Interaction with GuestsI'll be more than happy to give you as much information about the area as I can. I can get you to some great trailheads for hiking, direct you to the local skiing areas, recommend good drives for viewing the changing autumn colors, and provide a hit list for the top eateries, bars, and music venues in surrounding communities (Burlington, Richmond, Jericho, Winooski, etc.). The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is very friendly and we all look out for each other. Out of respect for one another, we keep speeds on our road to a slow and easy 25mph. It's really important that guests are friendly with neighbors they pass on the road - a wave and smile goes a long way when driving by. Getting AroundYou should have a car (or be on a self-sustaining bike tour). There is no public transportation that reaches me, and there's not much to do or see within walking distance. Other Things to NoteI have two cats - indoor only - who I adopted when I lived in Armenia. They are very sweet with a lot of personality. They won't sleep in your room, but they are otherwise part of the house. Some days I teach until the evening. If I know I won't be home by dark, I might ask for help putting the chickens away so that they don't fall prey to wandering foxes, bears, or raccoons - but only if you're ok with that. Otherwise, they can stay 'cooped up' all day and they'll be fine. The girls - Dory, Devan, and Delilah - are quite lovable!

Cozy apartment with flower gardens and open lawns in a lovely rural setting. Walking, cross country ski paths, mountain bike paths just outside your door. Year round outdoor hot tub for the best stargazing. Although the hot tub is shared with our family it is yours while you are here! Open and hot 24 hours! Private porch with sitting area or hammock hanging. Area for bonfire and wood provided for that fun night of toasting marshmallows and making s'mores. Every season offers something special. Fall is the best with sunny days, magically changes leaves to gold's and reds. Winter with all the different shapes of flakes turning the yard into a winter wonderland. In heavy storms we will share our garage with you! Spring is a joy with the tulips and daffodils. And then that summer heat to swim, bike, and lay in the sun. Private patio with sitting or hammock. All linens are provided. Pets are ok if approved prior. There are cats who live on the property. Available year-round, weekend rentals possible. Washer and Dryer are available, but are shared with family. We are happy to help you. Although I advertised romantic because it is a special spot, I also am a parent of 3 grown children. I welcome families with children. It is ideal to have space to spread out and a separate bedroom for parents. I will provide games, DVDs, toys that are age appropriate given advance notice. For the 3rd child/person I have a roll away bed, to set up in the living room near the convertible futon. It is so difficult to travel with 3 children in one room hotels I wanted to offer that to larger families. The area is perfect for parents visiting college students as YOU get a home away from home. Close to the universities, but with room for your child to come visit and hang out and even stay over some nights. Dorm living can get tiresome and a trip to the country can be rejuvenating and relaxing for that student. There are organic and regular grocery stores and excellent restaurants with 5 minutes of the house. The local factory outlets are also within 5 minutes. $600/week with one half of the weekly rental required upon booking and the the other half required 2 weeks before arrival. There is a $300/damage deposit required with first deposit. This will not be used and will be returned upon inspection of the property after departure.
