The SpaceMy detached town-home has three levels. One enters on the main level, where there is a well equipped kitchen, dining area with large round pine table, living room with fireplace, and half bath. The deck off the dining area is big enough for a small table, chairs and barbecue, and from the deck there is a view over fields next door, and off to the top of Bromley Mountain ski area. Stairs to the lower level lead to two good-sized adjoining rooms, currently furnished with a queen size bed, table, dresser, bookcases (and closet) in one room, and twin four poster beds, dresser, bookcase, etc. in the other room. This level can sleep four comfortably. There is a full bath, a laundry area with full size washer and dryer, and walk-out to a small deck. Stairs to the third level lead to the owner's quarters (bedroom, office, and bath). Furnishings are comfortable, and include country antiques, original art, and treasures from around the world. Entry is via the front door. Guests will enjoy use of the lower level and of the main living area. The owner splits her time between this home and her husband's historic home in New Hampshire, so depending upon her schedule, she may or may not be in residence on the upper level, in which case she will share the living area, in particular the kitchen. I look forward to greeting guests, and to advising them if they wish about special places and resources in the area. If I am not able to be there upon guests' arrival, I will leave detailed notes and area information. My town-home is in a small development, on a very quiet dead-end street, near the historic "Depot District" of Manchester, home of well known Al Ducci's Italian deli, among other things. One can walk downtown easily. The home is on the skiing side of Manchester, with easy access to/from both town and from afar via Route 7. Manchester offers so much to visitors and residents alike - shopping, restaurants, historic resources, art and music venues, theater, small and large events, golf and tennis, and just about every kind of outdoor activity. There are great hiking areas, bike routes, fishing and paddling opportunities on the Battenkill, golf courses, and skiing at Bromley Mountain and Stratton Ski Area. The community is vibrant and welcoming to people of all income levels and interests. There are public buses that connect to Bennington and Rutland, but for the most part, people need private vehicles to get around. There are private taxi services; a shuttle is available to/from the Albany airport. Downtown is a short walk from my town-home. I stock the kitchen with breakfast items to get you started. The fireplace is available to use and is particularly enjoyable on cold winter evenings after skiing. There is a 34" flat screen TV with basic cable and a DVD player on the main level. Wi-fi is dependable. Guest AccessGuests have access to the lower (bedroom) level and the main living level. Interaction with GuestsI look forward to greeting guests if I am able to be in town when they arrive, and if not, I leave detailed information. Depending upon my schedule I may be in residence to use my bedroom and home office on the third level, in which case I will also share the kitchen. The NeighborhoodA resident of the Manchester area since 1990, I chose to purchase this town-home in 2007 for two primary reasons: location, and design of the unit. The location is perfect - in town, but in a small development on a quiet dead-end street, and with fields next door. This is a great location from which to explore Manchester and to get out to explore all that the region has to offer. Downtown is well known for its variety and quality of shopping opportunities, including the not-to-be missed Northshire Bookstore. There are restaurants for just about every taste. The town-home is well designed, with upstairs and downstairs sleeping areas well separated from one another. The building profile is modest - it is surprising to people who are not familiar with these units to discover how much space there is inside. Getting AroundThere is public bus transit to Bennington and Rutland. Downtown is a walk away, but a car (or bicycle) is needed to explore beyond. Other Things to NoteThis town-home is my primary residence, and I have it set up to share with guests. I also spend a great deal of time in New Hampshire, which is why I can offer to share my home at this time. There is so much to offer in this area, that visitors should budget their time generously. I can offer some advice if guests wish, and I leave a selection of information in the home. In addition, a Visitor Center in town offers scads of information.

The SpaceThis home was built by my father back in 1985. Over the years we have spent many holidays and vacations with the children bumping around, dancing, and eating. We use this place often when we want to get away from the city where we now live. No cable TV, but there is wifi, TV plus DVD player, and the cell coverage is excellent. Also the house doesn't have central A/C but there are window units in the bedrooms (summer). If you enjoy hiking, river exploring, shopping, restaurants - this house is located 'right next door' to all of this. But in the evening, come home, kick up your feet with some wine and music, and relax. Guest AccessThere is a downstairs apartment that is empty (undergoing renovations) and is not part of the rental. Our housekeeper will open the house and leave a key plus instructions on the counter. Interaction with GuestsWe do not interact with guests as we live in another town. The SpaceArtmaker Farm is an 1820's summer home once owned by the renowned local landscape artist Luigi Lucioni. Renovated in the late 1980's, it retains many of its original and unique characteristics on 2.5 acres. A shed, once used for equipment storage, is now the windowed dining room and kitchen with original beams and unavoidable sloped and creaky floors. Bordered on one side by a bubbling brook, the house is hidden from neighbor homes by berms, landscaping and woods; it is very private. We are 1.5 miles from the town center. Our available guest room rental, maximum 2 people, has a side chair and desk in addition to the full-size bed, chest of drawers, and large walk-in closet. It is located at the very quiet northwest corner of the house. Please ask about available studio space if you're inspired to create during your visit. Welcome to Artmaker Farm! Guest AccessGuests are welcome to use the porch seating areas, lawn, living room, kitchen, dining and the bathrooms. We also have a washer and dryer available if needed. Interaction with GuestsOur family works from home and will advise and help with questions about the area and directions when available. We provide bed linens and bath towels. The Neighborhood1.5 miles from the center of Manchester, our home is within 20 minutes' drive of the majority of local attractions — Bromley Mountain, Stratton Resort, Hildene, Southern Vermont Arts Center, Manchester Discount Outlets, Equinox Drive, Merck Forest, the list goes on. We are within 10 minutes walking to the trailhead for Lye Brook Falls. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation in the area, but we are 20 minutes walk to the center of town and there are bike rentals available. Other Things to NoteThe room fee is all-inclusive, no deposit or cleaning costs are additional. We do ask for an additional $20 per person above the original guest. This is not your typical mountainside rental. You know the usual old outdated kitchen, gross comforters, TV's from the 80's and no wifi. We spend our winters here and have appointed this with all the comforts of home. Flat screen TV's, Netflix, HBO/SHO (so you can keep up with your binge watching), comfy beds, high end linens, modern decor and a kitchen you can actually cook in (including a gas range). We have had many guests stay at our condo and are happy to provide references.
