The SpaceCross the bridge and enter our little artsy, woodsy, heaven. Our eco-friendly, timberframe style home was designed by us, and is located along a winding brook on 17 wooded acres in central Vermont. We offer a double bed in a private, sun-filled, first-floor bedroom with separate bathroom. Though the property is on a quiet country road, it is just 15 minutes from the Vermont capital, Montpelier, and even closer to Waterbury, home of Ben and Jerry's and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. The Mad River Valley is an easy 20-minute drive, and Stowe Village is 30 minutes away. Opportunities for hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, and fishing abound. There are hiking trails on the property, flower and vegetable gardens, and a babbling brook that is wonderfully soothing to fall asleep to. An on-site hot tub is available and is especially nice under the stars. In addition to being artists, Galen and John are professional massage therapists, and can book you for a treatment for an additional fee. Local bread , cheese, eggs, and cereals are usually on hand, and if the time allows, happy to whip up some eggs or French toast.! Good coffee is brewing early, help yourself!

The SpaceThe room is upstairs, the bathroom is on the main floor. This might be important if you need the bathroom during the night. Guest AccessGuests enter through the kitchen door, as in most Vermont homes. Interaction with GuestsI will be here to greet you and at check-out time. The guest room is in the home, not separate and interactions throughout your stay are welcome. I will make time to share a cup of tea and a visit if you like to, but am happy to leave you to your business too. I will be glad to share my knowledge of the area if you are a new visitor. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is made up mostly of one-family homes, with a blend of young families, middle aged couples and older folks. Being a quiet side street it is a favorite for walkers, often with children or dogs. Getting AroundPublic transportation: the bus stop is downtown at City Hall, about 7 blocks from here. The train station is a 5-10 minute drive from here. I am happy to pick up guests and drop them off again, if needed. Other Things to NoteAt times I have other guests staying with me. Especially during the summer months, when Vermont is at it's prettiest, family and friends come to stay for shorter or longer periods. In my mind this adds to the international flair of the house. Everyone here is friendly and welcomes a good travel story.

The SpaceFlexible check-in/check-out, and cancelation policy! Your satisfaction, comfort, and convenience is what matters most! Excellent location - this listing is the most centrally located listing in Montpelier. You can easily walk everywhere in downtown. A wild, small front-yard flower garden welcomes you to this 120 year old Vermont house. BEDROOM: Guest bedroom is available in the third floor apartment (additional bedroom available upon request). The bedrooms are sized generously (~13x11), fully furnished, well-lit by a couple of lamps (bright and efficient LED bulbs), and each has a very comfortable and new queen mattress (on the firmer side - mattress topper available upon request). The south-facing bedroom looks onto the street and some of Montpelier's charming church and clock towers. Fresh towels, linens, pillows, etc. are all provided. To ensure your comfort, the room has its own heating unit and fan, and there are extra blankets, quilts, mattress topper, and pillows upon request! KITCHEN: The galley kitchen's dormer window looks out onto the golden dome of the neighboring VT Statehouse. The kitchen features a sleek flat-top electric stove and convection oven, and a full-size refrigerator. The kitchen is fully stocked with kitchen supplies, including a toaster oven, an electric hot water kettle, 3 ways to brew your coffee (drip machine, stovetop espresso, and an AeroPress), a coffee bean grinder, and an assortment of teas and locally-roasted coffee beans - all included for your enjoyment. BATHROOM: The snug, *shared bathroom is located just off the kitchen and features a bathtub/shower with a curved shower curtain rod. The bathroom is well-lit, and many basic amenities are provided (soap, shampoo, towels, toilet paper, and hair dryer). The shower has very good water pressure, and the hot water is both quick to arrive and lasts a long time. * The bathroom is only shared if I'm home, which is only the case about half the time - otherwise you'd have the apartment all to yourself. LAUNDRY: The house has a shared, free laundry room just between the 1st floor apartment and the front foyer - you're welcome to use it in the daytime between 8am-8pm. RATE AND POLICY: The base rate is $50/night Sunday-Thursday and $60/night Friday-Saturday. Hosts receive about 94% of the base rate (Airbnb has a host fee). In addition to the base rate, Airbnb charges the guest a booking fee, which is around $7/night. A $10 cleaning fee (lowest on Airbnb) and $100 refundable security deposit apply to every reservation. Two guests are included; if your group is larger, it's $20/night per additional guest. Flexible check-in, check-out, and cancelation policy. Guest AccessGuest access is simple and straightforward: right up the front porch, through the front-door and up the flight of stairs (steep) to the door leading up to the 3rd floor apartment where your cozy accommodation awaits! This two bedroom, 3rd-floor apartment offers you 1 private bedroom with a common entry/living room, galley kitchen, and a small, shared bathroom. When you make a reservation, Airbnb will send you all details regarding check-in. The second bedroom is available upon request - just ask if you're needing more than one bedroom for your stay. Interaction with GuestsI travel frequently, so we may not meet in-person, but I have an easy "self check-in" process. If I'm not around Montpelier and have guests before/after you, I will be sending you the simple details about the "DIY" (e.g. make your own bed) process that many of my guests use. If I'm around Montpelier, I'm always happy to trade some stories over a local, craft beer. Either way, I'm happy to answer your questions about Montpelier and central Vermont, and of course point you in the right direction for local places to go and things to do! The NeighborhoodMontpelier is full of some of VT's finest food, drink, theater, and scenery! Your cozy downtown room is in a prime location, being within a 5-minute walk of Montpelier's many landmarks and hotspots, such as: the VT Statehouse, the beautiful hilltop Hubbard Park, Three Penny Taproom, Positive Pie, Kismet, Chill, Capitol Grounds, Wilaiwan's, Mad Taco, and Hunger Mountain Coop (10-min. walk). Montpelier folk are friendly and helpful... it's the kind of place where you can ask anyone for directions, and people mean it when they ask how you're doing. Going skiing or hiking? Montpelier is right in the middle of it all - here's a list of the drive times to local destinations for outdoor recreation: * Morse Farm (7 min) * Bolton (30 min) * Trapp Family Lodge (30 min) * Sugarbush/Mt. Ellen (35 min) * Stowe/Mt. Mansfield (38 min) * Blueberry Lake (40 min) * Mt. Abraham (40 min) * Burlington downtown & waterfront (45 min) * Camel's Hump (45 min) * Smuggler's Notch (1 hr) * Craftsbury (1 hr) * Kingdom Trails/Burke (1 hr 5 min) * Killington/Pico (1 hr 10 min) Getting AroundEverything in downtown Montpelier is easily walkable, and the GMTA bus service is a 7-minute walk away (for transit to Waterbury, Burlington, etc). Other Things to NoteThis is a safe space, welcoming of all people. A caution: light sleepers may be challenged by the thin walls/floors of this house, and the fact that being downtown in a small city can mean some frequent street noise. The house is on a small but busy street, and looks out onto a large parking lot, the rear of a busy USPS post office (trucks move frequently) and a clock tower (which sounds at the top of every hour - e.g. 12 times at midnight, 4 times at 4am and 4pm). * PARKING * Winter (Nov 15 - April 1): There is a total overnight (1am-6am) winter parking ban in effect on my street. As the Montpelier City website states: "Failure to move your car may result in a $15 ticket and a $65 towing charge." You may use the free, overnight parking in the city-owned, metered parking lots found behind the Rite-Aid on Main Street (5 min walk from my house), or behind the Capitol Plaza Hotel / Northfield Savings Bank / Christ Episcopal Church (3 min walk from my house if you walk through the parking lot opposite of my house). Spring-Summer-Fall: On-street (free!) parking only. The driveway is strictly reserved for downstairs tenants and neighbors.

Please know that if we are home and see/hear her barking and growling we will put her in a part of the house that prevents her from doing that. The house animals are respectful but are attention seekers so I can NOT promise you wont have a kitty visitor if you do not close your door. Your dog must be cat savvy and friendly to other dogs. All guest pets must be on a leash and all waste needs to be picked up and thrown out. Receptacles and bags are provided. Guest dogs are welcome anywhere out front and may go in house dog's space only after multiple positive introductions. Guest AccessYou are welcome to use the living room ( TV, Couch, Glider Rocker, comfy reading chairs and deck.) Please note that you may have a kitty on your lap unless you let them know its not your thing. The grounds and enclosed paddocks are lovely to walk around in and let your canine stretch their legs without a leash. Pets are welcome to a plethora of dog beds but must be ok'd for furniture surfing. Please note: If you have your pet outside of the front paddocks there is electric fencing in the back for the farm animals. If that is where you want to walk and your dog is chicken friendly please ask and the electric fence will be unplugged for the duration of your walk. Interaction with GuestsI or a friendly impostor will always be available either in person or by phone for anything you may need. I am a veterinary professional so if your dog is not feeling well please feel free to ask for help or advise. The NeighborhoodNeighbors across the road are umpteen generation Vermonters-- If I can't tell you they sure can. Lovely walking trails and quiet roads to enjoy near by. Getting AroundOnce in Montpelier, five minutes away, local transportation is plentiful. Rides to town can be orchestrated. Car Share Vermont has multiple cars within Montpelier. There are also community bikes available in the summer time. You will however need to be pretty fit to bike my hill. Even still you might be cursing me! Other Things to NoteExtensive alarm system and video surveillance is provided for you and your pets. You will be given a code to enter if you will be home without me here. The video surveillance provides great wildlife videos! We are very blessed to live in a very safe neighborhood.

The SpaceMontpelier is the quintessential Vermont town. We love it. Smack dab in the middle of the state, I have lived here over 30 years. My partner, Patti, was born and raised in Vermont. Our house is close to downtown and easy walking distance to everything. There are two bedrooms. One has a queen bed, the other two twin beds. There is a full sized futon in the living room. Private, gorgeous with a sunny and spacious living area. Full kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, toaster, and cooking utensils. (No dishwasher). There is coffee, sugar and filters provided. We are very close to a grocery store, so you can see what is in the refrigerator and then go get provisions. Guest AccessLet us know when you are arriving and we'll keep the driveway clear for you. Access is via covered outside stairs to second floor. Guests get full use of the driveway. Interaction with GuestsHosts live downstairs. You can have as much privacy as you like. Feel free to ask us anything. The NeighborhoodMontpelier is a very safe town, easy to get around and there are outstanding restaurants and bars. A foodie and craft beer lovers delight! Getting AroundThough you can walk downtown, a car is the best way to see the area. Other Things to NoteWe are huge dog lovers. There is a newly blind Australian Cattle Dog (Tilly) who tends to bark briefly at new noises. We love cats, but can't have any at the apartment due to residual litter box smell potential. Please see the house manual for our requests regarding our canine guests.
