No matter how long the stay—whether it be a weekend, a week, or a month—this beautiful and rustic converted barn rental in southwestern Vermont is just the place. The barn sits on six-and-a-half private acres of sunny countryside and boasts long-range, southernly views of both Mt. Anthony and the Bennington Monument. Guests will surely enjoy wandering the park-like trails through four acres of old apple orchard and woodlands. Why go to a bed and breakfast when this entire rental and all of the land that surrounds it is available to glampers?Given its southwestern Vermont location, this barn rental finds itself less than 12 minutes from downtown Bennington, but at the same time still allows glampers to feel far away from it all, given its quiet and secluded nature. Guests will find themselves picking apples, going birdwatching, and viewing all types of wildlife, such as deer, grouse, wild turkeys, rabbits, and the occasional black bear that wanders through the property. There are also excellent fly fishing conditions on the nearby Battenkill River. What's more? Glampers can attend the summer horse shows in nearby Manchester, enjoy the world-famous Vermont fall foliage, watch the flowers bloom in the springtime, and enjoy a bonfire in the backyard of the barn rental. There are even five major ski areas located within an hour's drive, perfect for a winter getaway. The rustic barn rental itself comes fully furnished and features a slate shower, a bear claw bathtub, a gas cooking stove, a microwave, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, cable TV, a DVD/VCR player, and Wi-Fi, as well as two wood-burning stoves and free wood to keep guests warm at night. In addition, there is central heating and a portable air conditioner, if needed.Downstairs, there is a large master bedroom with its own gas stove/fireplace, which adds both ambiance and extra heat. There is a living room, a dining area, and another small room that can sleep up to two guests with a large electric blow-up mattress. A spiral staircase leads guests up to the large loft, which features a full-size spring mattress futon. There is also a loveseat that pulls out into a double bed. This rustic barn rental was actually part of a large and picturesque Vermont farm that was located just up the dirt road—and is even viewable from parts of the property!—until it was rolled down on logs and converted into the luxury rental that it is today some years ago.

You can explore the woods around our house and up to the ridge. AUTUMN brings harvest festivals and Octoberfests in town, and the changing leaves on the mountainsides. Geese honk overhead and the woods turn a glorious shade of orange. The farmer's markets are full of harvest foods, and you can visit breweries, wineries, antique shops, and stroll the village. There are lantern tours on selected fall nights in Stowe! Driving up Mt. Mansfield and hiking the ridge, or taking the gondola up are popular ways to look at the leaves, in addition to many scenic drives (with covered bridges!), walks, and hikes. NOVEMBER LOCAL'S SECRET - The light is beautiful in this month as the sun angles lower in our northern latitude. You can see deeply into the forest now that the leaves are gone, and the sunlight makes beautiful patterns on the trunks of trees. Walks and hikes are lovely. The moss and ferns glow green on the rocks and boulders. Single yellow birch trees stand out on the purple/grey mountainside. The valleys are dry, warm, and snow free, with cyclists, hikers, bikers enjoying the pavement and trails, but the mountain tops are beautifully kissed with snow and frost. You may be able to catch some early skiing. Restaurants have specials galore. Shopping is amazing - with deep discounts and sales from the summer season. Music, galleries, and theater are all happening. Breweries are open for tours. Vermonters hold locals' festivals. Everyone is in a relaxed, happy mood. Come visit! In WINTER, while the winter wonderland snow piles up outside, our house is super warm and full of light - sunshine pours in the windows of the kitchen and diningroom, and we have a gas fired "woodstove" as well. We get tons of snow! Sledding down our driveway is fun. You can even jump off the deck if there's enough snow. We have sleds, and you're welcome to sled anywhere around the house. You can even jump on the trampoline in winter - great fun! We work in the ski industry at Stowe Mtn. Resort, so we can give you tips if you are skiing and riding there - it's the best on the East Coast! You can also ice skate, cross country ski, go on sleigh rides, and go dogsledding here in Stowe. APRIL LOCAL'S SECRET - Once again, the light is lovely in this month as spring returns to the mountains. While the valleys are greening up, snow remains on the mountain tops, creating a beautiful tableau. The maple sugarhouses are steaming with boiling sap into maple syrup! They often have tours and samples. You may be able to catch some late season spring skiing. You'll see cyclists returning to their scenic routes in the valleys. Restaurants have specials galore - we even have a whole statewide dedicated restaurant week. Shopping is amazing - with deep discounts and sales from the winter season. Music, galleries, and theater are all happening. Breweries are open for tours. Vermonters hold locals' festivals, such as maple sugar festival. Everyone is in a relaxed, happy mood. Daffodils are blooming and the trees are budding out. We love kids! We provide BABYSITTING for $25/ hour if we are available. Private individual, family, and group downhill PROFESSIONAL SKIING LESSONS for all levels are available with Steve - a former collegiate racer and now a PSIA master level, fully certified instructor since 1987. The SpaceOur cottage is a private, separate building in a quiet rural setting - located in the back yard at our home. It is a two story building with open rooms, full kitchen and bath - a little on the creative side but very clean and everything works! The claw foot tub and steps in the bathroom require guests to be steady on their feet, as do the stairs to the bedroom, which are pretty steep. A Hearthstone gas fireplace provides radiant heat and ambiance. Free WiFi is included but it is not strong enough a signal for live streaming - (it is strong enough for email and basic web browsing). Upstairs has a queen bed and a single bed with a single trundle (two singles). Downstairs couch has a double hide-away bed. So, depending on your comfort level with each other and openness, the cottage can sleep a small crowd. The cottage is totally pet friendly. Your pets are free to roam outside too, based on your comfort level. There is a big yard, woods and fields right outside the door. We also have a very friendly dog and a cat and chickens. We do charge a $25 per pet fee, which we will have to add to your rate after you make the reservation. Walking and Cross country ski and snowshoe trails are right out the door. We have a little map to get your oriented. 20 minutes from Stowe, Hardwick, Craftsbury and Johnson. Just five minutes away is Morrisville - a good sized town with a 24 hour Price Chopper, Hannafords, 3 Pharmacies (CVS, Kinney's and Brooks), Dunkin Donuts, McDonald's about 5 Chinese Restaurants, a 4-Plex Movie Theater, and Mobile Station and a few really good places to eat and enjoy live music (see my guide book below) Stowe Mountain, Jay Peak and Smuggler's Notch Ski Areas all easy drives. 20 minutes via back road to Craftsbury Touring Center. We are just a few minutes from Green River Reservoir State Park - absolutely gorgeous area! We love our land and our home and love to share it! Guest AccessYou are welcome to enjoy the yard, hammock, woods and trails all around. The WiFi is a little weak, so please do not plan on doing any streaming. Please do not go down to the bees without Frederic or Gerette. Interaction with GuestsAs long as you are not arriving too late, we will plan to be present to greet you. We are happy to give you all the privacy you want - and we are also happy to share with you any of our experiences and tips for enjoying the area to the fullest. Really, you get to decide how much we interact. We live in the house nearby and often times we meet, like good neighbors, in the yard or on the driveway... Getting AroundMorrisville offers public bus transportation but in general, you will need your own vehicle in order to enjoy the area.
