The SpaceOur State and Town approved B&B suite was newly built in 2016 and is located on the second story of our 1852 home. It is completely separate from our quarters and has a private kitchen (with tile back splash), living-dining space, bathroom (with tile floor), and bedroom. You will also have the use of our large front porch. Currently, there are two very comfortable twin beds in the bedroom with one bedside table in between, and one roll away twin bed which can be used in the living room for a third guest. By the beginning of 2017, the twin beds in the bedroom will be able to be converted, if need be, to one kingsize bed, with two bedside tables on each side. Guests will need to specify at booking time which type of bed situation they would prefer. (The beds also have cotton allergy-free bedding.) For all our guests' comfort, we are a no-pets, no-smoking establishment with air conditioning and off-street parking. Guest AccessPlease park in front of the house to check-in. Come up onto the porch with your luggage and ring the doorbell to the right of the green front door. We will meet you there, and an access code will be given at this time. You may hang your coats on the rack in the downstairs hallway, or a rack upstairs, just inside the B&B suite, and please leave muddy/wet boots or shoes either on the all-black rugs downstairs, or upstairs OUTSIDE the B&B suite. Once you have checked in, you can drive your car into our drive (to the left of our house) and park in our small parking lot, and use the side steps to access the porch and front green door. Interaction with GuestsWe will be available in person, text or email to answer any questions guests might have during their stay, and will always be available in person at the beginning and the end of our guests' stay. For guests' continuing comfort, please let us know if something isn't functioning in the rental space so we can resolve the problem quickly. The NeighborhoodOur place, Spencer House Lodging and Gallery, is located one short block from the Main Street Historic District where you will find many historic houses, the Athenaeum, Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium, St. Johnsbury Academy, and 5 historic churches. Two blocks north on Summer St. is the St. Johnsbury History and Heritage Center. We are also a short walk to Catamount Film and Arts, Eastern and Main Deli, Gatto Nero Cafe, the Monday night band concert, the Saturday farmers' market, the Kingdom Trails, health clubs, restaurants, antique shops, and galleries. Getting AroundMuch of what the town offers can be accessed on foot from our B&B. If you want to explore other towns and villages and would prefer to take a bus rather than your vehicle, please take a bus schedule from the B&B suite (along with any other loose brochures we have provided), or you can pick one up at the Welcome Center downtown (on Railroad St.), one of the bus stops in town. The Welcome Center also has a large variety of brochures. Or check on (EMAIL HIDDEN) Other Things to NoteWe will provide the guest(s) with coffee, tea, sugar, stevia, non-gluten and/or wheat-based cold cereal, fresh fruit, and powdered nondairy creamer. Also, before you arrive, please let us know if you'd prefer 1/2 and 1/2 or milk (instead of nondairy creamer) for your hot beverage, and whether you'd prefer almond milk (or rice, etc) or regular milk for your cereal. (A special treat will also greet you at your arrival.) A hair dryer is provided in the bathroom. If you need an iron and ironing board, you may use ours. You can also use our washer and dryer. We are in the process of creating an on-site studio/art gallery. Feel free to inquire!
