The Space*Please* read our listing carefully especially about location, walking distance, amenities, profile requirements before you inquire! The wooden ceilings in the older garden style condo add a unique homely feel to your stay! Close to both Old Town Alexandria, the Mark Center, and the National Harbor, as well as provide easy access to DC, it is perfect for tourists, business travelers, interns or those looking to relocate to the area. There is free parking as well. The room fits two comfortably. We do not usually offer long term stays because we are not looking for roommates but awesome travelers with similar-minded philosophies. We don't have any pets of our own at the moment (except a small fish/shrimp tank), but it is a very dog friendly neighborhood, and if you have a well behaved pet you'd like to bring with you, please let us know. Guest AccessEnjoy a cup of espresso/coffee with the Nespresso machine, kitchen, high speed internet. We try to keep the kitchen stocked up with eggs, bacon, drinks, tea, and spices if you'd like to cook. There is central heating (winter 70F)/summer (73F), so you'll have a relaxing and comfortable stay! We just ask that you clean up after yourselves. There is a lock on your bedroom door (depending on how much privacy you'd prefer). You will also have your own private bathroom. We have spare toiletries (shampoo/conditioner/shower gel), toothpaste, and towels for guests. If you need something not listed above, please ask since we probably have it! Laundry facilities are available in the home and also on the basement level of the building (We have laundry detergent you can use). Free Street Parking is available for those coming by car. Other Perks: Fast Internet (we take our internet seriously), folding wall desk in room, loaner smartrip metro cards, no TV (yes that has been highlighted as a perk for some guests). Interaction with GuestsMy significant other and I stay in the other bedroom, and feel free to contact us via airbnb message/email/phone if we're out if you have any questions or would like food/local attraction suggestions (we love food and enjoy cooking!). I generally work until 5pm on weekdays; though sometimes I can try to work with your schedule to 'check in' earlier. Weekends my schedule is much more flexible for check in. I may be out on some work travel and will always let you know in advance during booking/pre-approval, but my significant other who lives with me, Alex, can help with 'check in' and 'check out'. He loves the outdoors (climbing), is also well traveled, and visited many of the DC tourist spots - so you'll be in good hands! We've couch-surfed, airbnb, and hostels around the world (backpacked through Europe), and I have lived in Japan, South Korea, China, and Belgium, and always enjoy fun travel stories! I can speak Cantonese, Japanese, Mandarin, and a little bit of Korean and French. My significant other is fluent in German, Russian, and French. The NeighborhoodClose to King St. metro (15-20min walk depending on your walking pace and navigation ability; it takes Alex 15min and I'm a slow walker and it takes 20min, but it is also possible for people not used to walking to take 25- 30 min), easy access to a beautiful waterfront (you can take the free trolley down King St. from the King St. Metro), and everyone is friendly. Most airbnb guests have noted it is an easy walk to/from the metro and it is a safe neighborhood. There's also a movie theater within a few mins drive (haven't figured out how to walk there yet). Getting AroundWALKING: King St. & Eisenhower Metro stations are both a bit less than a mile's walk (According to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)maps, its 1.2miles, but we take a shortcut that is .9miles -- I'm a slow walker, and it takes me 15-20min to King St. Metro). BUS: You can take a bus (AT2 or AT8) directly down to King St. Metro (5min bus ride). We also provide guest metro cards for you to borrow. Parking is also available. - IF you require a best walking path (with a small shortcut not listed on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps), please let us know and we can email it to you! (unfortunately airbnb does not offer an image attachment to the guidebook yet) Other Things to NotePlease note that this is an older home with an industrial style touch so it may not have the clean, modern look. We love travelers, foodies, and great stories! So we're happy to accommodate international travelers! While this is a 'bnb' we do it because we enjoy meeting new people and like to know who we're hosting vs treating it as a 'business' transaction. New airbnb users, we appreciate it if you can please make sure to 1) fill our your profile pic with a picture of yourself, 2) "about me"/mention a few things about yourself, and 3) get ID verified. Also, don't use your friend's account! This is for airbnb security purposes and also helps you with airbnb bookings elsewhere in the future. NOTE: Airbnb does NOT allow us to see outside website links, specific company names, email address, or phone numbers until your booking is confirmed (to avoid people from going 'outside' of the system). Please keep that in mind since I cannot 'call' or 'email' you about more info outside of the airbnb messaging system unless we accept you. We don't mean to be rude, but we really can't! We take pet allergies very seriously and pay extra attention to cleaning the room pre/post next guest, and will happily let you know when was the last guests with a pet that stayed if you let us know you have a pet allergy. (We have not had any incidents with this).

The "Classic's" Guest House is a 1950's Rambler in an established quiet, residential neighborhood. This beautifully maintained home is surrounded by flower gardens. It has three bedrooms and three baths, and will sleep up to 4 people. Master bath has walk-in tub with whirlpool. This 1950's house has a classics 1940's and 1950's movie theme throughout, along with a movie collection of over 300 titles from that era. We are in the Greater Washington DC Metropolitan Area, located in Rose Hill, Virginia, just to the east of the famous Springfield "mixing bowl" where Interstates 395, 95, and 495 merge. When traveling from Springfield on Interstate 95; Take Exit 173, Van Dorn St, Franconia then turn right. When traveling from Maryland on Interstate 95; Take Exit 173, Van Dorn St, Franconia, then turn right. Both exits merge at Van Dorn St. We are near Metro rail for easy access to Washington, DC and "old town" Alexandria. We are pet friendly with a large gated fenced backyard for dogs or kids to run. With a good size pen for better control of smaller dogs. We are handicapped accessible with the bedrooms, kitchen, bath, and family area all on one floor. House amenities include cable TV, intercom, central vacuum, and an "English Cottage" smooking lounge. We sell premium cigars onsite and you can bring your drinks to enjoy in the Cottage or the backyard patio. The house has a classic movie star theme with their pictures hanging all over the house. You can easily "sleep under the stars". The Master bedroom is our Morning room. It is furnished with Queen sized bed and dressing table. The sun's first lights brighten the room early after sunrise. Great for early risers. The connecting Master Bath has a walk-in whirlpool bathtub. The second bedroom is the Garden Room, filled with plants and cheerful ivy stenciling. It gets the sun a little later in the morning. It is furnished with a single bed. The third bedroom is for hat lovers. Hats on the walls and stenciled near the ceiling. It too has a single bed. All rooms have ceiling fans and easily opening windows. Downstairs is a dining room or gathering room. With wall to wall carpet and a cozy fireplace (if you visit in the colder months). It has a large "wet bar" area for preparing drinks, a malt shop for an afternoon snack, or presenting a formal party (birthdays, anniversaries). We have central air for the summer and gas heat in the winter. The family room downstairs has a gas fireplace. You can park off-street. Short walk to a shopping center with grocery, drug store, and multiple restaurants or fast food. It also has a spa, a barber, a dry cleaners, a liqueur store, a pet store, and a laundromat. Grocery stores sell beer and wine. Within a 5 mile drive are dozens of restaurants of all ethnicities, as well as two recreation centers, golf course, driving range, and a movie multiplex. With a slightly longer drive you can visit many historic places such as Mt. Vernon, Arlington Cemetery, historic "Old Town" Alexandria, the Smithsonian Botanical Gardens in Washington or the National Arboretum. Our favorite is Green Springs Garden Park in Fairfax County. You also have the services of a Butler, a Maid, and a Concierge who live on premises. We are available to assist you during your stay. We can provide pick-up service for arrivals at Reagan Washington National Airport, the Greyhound station in Springfield at the Metro station, or the Amtrak station in Alexandria. Parking in the northern Virginia area can be a problem. We can provide drop-off and pickup service to many locations with appropriate notice. Payment: We accept cash and most credit cards. We also accept personal or business checks if we receive them two weeks before arrival. Damage Deposit: We ask a refundable damage deposit of $100 for adults only. With children $300. Pets are another $300.

Other amenities: free WiFi, hardwood floors, gas stove, dishwasher, keurig coffee maker (FREE COFFEE AND LIGHT SNACKS INCLUDED), and 32” plasma tv in the living room. Please note, there is no washer and dryer in the apartment, but there is a laundromat nearby. There are about 20 stairs up to the apartment. Prefer no more than 4 guests per stay for your comfort and enjoyment. YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD is only one block from the lower level of Huntington Metro (yellow line, DCA, Pentagon, Pentagon City only minutes away), one block from Huntington Park, five minutes away from Old Town, and 1 minute to the Telegraph Road ramp to 495. By train, plane, or automobile this is one of the most convenient locations in DC! The neighborhood is residential and quite sleepy, so expect to retreat from the city while you sleep, not be in the heart of it. INTERESTED IN DISCOUNT RATES? For stays longer than 7 days, I can usually work with you on a good deal. Let me know and I can discuss options with you. Interaction with GuestsI like to give my guests privacy during their stay. One week before your stay, I will give you instructions to check in on your own. I find that this gives you the most flexibility in the timing of your arrival. During your stay, I will be only 15 minutes away should you have any needs at all. Otherwise, enjoy the quiet privacy! The NeighborhoodThe Huntington area is one of the only undeveloped metro stops in the system. That means it is a quiet residential area - a welcome retreat after a long day and a bit sleepy if you're used to busier cities. Groceries: For quick sundry items, there is a 7-Eleven across the street. For basic groceries, there is a Latin supermarket just up the street. For fancier fare, there is a Whole Foods just off the King Street metro stop (2 stops away). Want the refrigerator stocked for your visit? I can work out a Peapod order for you (additional fee) to have grocery items delivered right to the unit. Restaurants: As I said, the neighborhood is a little sleepy. Near Huntington Metro there is a taco place called Tippy's that is pretty decent. If you want more commercial chain restaurants, drive up Route 1 to Chipotle, Famous Dave's, or Outback Steakhouse. If you're looking for a night out with a local fare, everything from sports bars to elegant restaurants, King Street is only 2 metro stops away (or a $10 Uber ride). King Street has a free trolley that will take yup up and down the 1.5 mile stretch, so its affordable too! Getting AroundThe apartment is extremely accessible! * Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) By Car (about 45 minutes) * Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) By Metro (80 minutes) * Reagan Airport (DCA) By Car (25 minutes) * Reagan Airport (DCA) By Metro (15 minutes) * Baltimore Airport By Car (60 minutes) * Baltimore Airport by Metro (90 minutes) Want directions to anywhere in DC? Visit the metro's website and check out their trip planner. Your point of origin will be Huntington Metro. You should be able to get detailed travel info for anywhere in the system. Other Things to NotePlease note that the unit does not have a washer/dryer but there is a laundromat in the shopping center next door.

The SpaceThe private apartment is part of a small 5-unit building right off the main street in Del Ray. There is a full bathroom and a kitchen with a stove, dishwasher, and microwave. The main bedroom has a queen size bed, and the bunk area has a bunk bed with two Tuft and Needle mattresses. Please make sure the number of guests listed is accurate so we know how many towels to bring and beds to make. It's an older apartment with some dated appliances, which are all shown in the photos though. We are working to make updates in-between guests. Guest AccessThere are reusable grocery bags to use when shopping. And guests may use the charcoal BBQ grills outside. Parking in the driveway is off limits. Interaction with GuestsI live a few miles away and am always available to chat via phone, text, tweet (@CapitalHostels) or in person. The NeighborhoodDel Ray is one of the hippest neighborhoods in America. It's a quaint little community within the D.C. metropolitan area. There's a great farmer's market just down the road every Saturday. Del Ray is "where main street still exists." Even President Obama stops by local businesses unannounced every so often. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop right on the corner. The Braddock Road Metro Station is walkable (1 mile/20 minutes) and easy to get to. You have a 2 hour free transfer window going bus-to-bus, and you get a $0.50 discount going between the bus and rail. Biking is a great option as well, and you can connect to the major bike trails just down the road. If you have not used the "ridesharing" apps Uber (rppm9s) or Lyft (paul348708) yet, enter the promo codes in parentheses for a free $20-25 credit on your first ride. Interaction with GuestsI live a few houses away and always available to chat via phone, text, tweet (@CapitalHostels) or in person. It is located in Alexandria, Virginia (Fairfax County), just south of the independent City of Alexandria and just a couple of miles from historic "Old Town" Alexandria. Jefferson Manor is within walking distance of the Huntington Metro stop and Jefferson Manor Park. The neighborhood is rapidly gentrifying with a lot of younger couples. The hall bathroom is set up for Airbnb guests to use and includes fresh towels, a jacuzzi tub, and a beautiful view overlooking the yard. The home itself has Fios high-speed internet and cable and offers loads of cozy and comfortable space. Guest AccessGuests can use the cable/wifi, patio, BBQ, and livingroom/TV areas. Longer-term (3 nights or more) guests can use the washer/dryer unit, the kitchen, etc. as long as they are respectful. Interaction with GuestsOur interaction with our guests is likely not a lot since we both have very hectic schedules, but it essentially can be whatever the guest wants it to be. We enjoy meeting new people and would enjoy the experience of getting to know our guests, but it's totally up to the guest. The NeighborhoodWe are at the end of a cul-de-sac and are surrounded by very friendly, warm, and welcoming neighbors. It's quiet but is also within easy access of the hustle and bustle of all the nightlife and daytime activities that the DC metro area has to offer. Getting AroundOur back yard faces a street with a bus stop but currently, we cannot find the key to unlock the gate to allow for this easy access so in the interim, it's a .5 mile walk to the bus stop as we have to go around. We are happy to give guests rides to the metro or into town if we are already heading that way or heading out in general. Other Things to NoteAlexandria is a foodie paradise, offering loads of different traditional and ethnic restaurants. But, if you want to head into DC, you can drive the few miles down the GW Parkway, or you can take the King Street or Braddock Road Metros. You can also opt to take a boat from the waterfront to Georgetown, National Harbor, and Mount Vernon. You will love Old Town. It is a very special place with plenty to do. The farmer's market is only blocks away and it's open every Saturday. Dogs ok. Cats not. Getting AroundIt's easy to get around on foot to just about anywhere. You also take one of two metros into DC. Other Things to NoteThis is my personal home so please be respectful. I travel a lot so I offer my home to visitors. Small dogs are allowed, but please no dogs over 35 pds and NO barking dogs. It's a small house, but keep in mind that it is an old historic home so it's not shiny and new. The washer/dryer are located outside down stairs to a rugged basement. Steps can be steep. I will provide a cleaner once a month to dust and clean the floors, and during warm months, a gardener will swing by to tidy up the yard, but it would be appreciated if you could water all the plants. The front and rear patios are brand new, so problems with uneven bricks and dirt have been eliminated. A big pergola was added too. It's a very nice space. Dogs -- ok Cats -- not
