The SpaceThe interior of Gum Tree Lodge is built almost entirely of recycled materials. Reclaimed and recycled wood flooring, beams, doors and siding make this A-frame a charming eco -friendly space. Gum Tree Lodge is approximately eighty yards behind the main house and our wood shop/art studio. There is a loft bedroom, and first floor bathroom with walk-in shower. In addition, there is a pull-out sleeping sofa and an outdoor shower next to the back porch. Guest AccessThere are trails through the woods for a leisurely walk in addition to front and back porches on which to relax and enjoy the best of rural Virginia living. Interaction with GuestsWe are close enough to assist in any way but will also respect guests' space and privacy. The NeighborhoodGum Tree Lodge is in close proximity to attractions such as Barboursville, Horton, and Early Mountain Vineyards and James Madison's Montpelier. Charlottesville and Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello is only a 30-40 minute scenic drive away. Within minutes is The Market at Grelen which consists of a garden center, nursery, gift shop, u-pick and cafe. Grelen and Montpelier have teamed together and created trails so you can walk from one place to the other. Also within minutes is Barboursville Gift Gallery which highlights local artists, craftsmen, and unique antiques. We are also directly across from Ingleside Guest House for overflow guests. Other Things to Note**Wi-fi is available but only as a necessity. We live in a rural area where unlimited internet is not available. Sorry for any inconvenience**
Linens and towels are provided with extra for the sleeper sofa. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils, table wear, glasses, pots and pans. We also supply coffee, tea, condiments, and spices. The bathroom is equipped with toilet paper, soap, shampoo, hair dryer, and other toiletries.
We are fairly close to Rt. 20 and in warm weather if windows are open, guests may be able to hear car traffic and the sporadic train whistle.
