The SpaceEnjoy our cozy den-like guest room with its fireplace, books, king bed, and completely private bathroom with bath/shower. We're in a peaceful semi-rural neighborhood outside of Charlottesville: 10 minutes to UVA, 20 minutes to historic downtown, 20 minutes to Shenandoah National Park (to the west) or Monticello (to the east). There is no public transit to our neighborhood, but there is good taxi service. We have broadband internet that usually works fine for Netflix. This is a great location for folks who like some green space. We're convenient not only to Charlottesville, but also to scenic western Albemarle County. Hikers, runners and cyclists are particularly fond of this part of the county. We are early risers (7:00 AM), and though we're not loud you should expect some normal noise in the morning. Your room adjoins our kitchen and living area. If we're available in the morning we will make coffee or tea to your liking. You can also make your own morning beverages. We don't offer meals, but you are welcome to store some food in our fridge and to use the kitchen for light food preparation. We are open to discussing full kitchen use for guests who are staying more than 2 nights. Other details: We have a dog, Maeve, who may bark when you first arrive. She switches quickly to wanting to be petted. There are no nightstands by the bed, but there are lights on each side. The room has a writing nook, chest of drawers, and a coat rack on which you can hang your finery. Our neighborhood is middle class, semi-rural, and quiet. Your room has views of a funky rustic house down the lane, lots of trees, and mountains. We are friendly and welcoming, and will see that you have what you need for a comfortable and pleasurable stay. And we're busy with work and all the rest, so we won't be in your way! Guest AccessGuest room, private bathroom, kitchen, dining area, yard. Interaction with GuestsWhen we are at home we can offer suggestions about local amenities and services. We are also sometimes available by phone to assist guests. The NeighborhoodPerfectly situated for visitors interested in both the mountains and the city . . . we're about equi-distant to each. Getting AroundThere is no public transit to our neighborhood, but there is good taxi service.

The SpaceThere is a Queen bed with a Tempur-pedic mattress in the bedroom and a queen sleep sofa in the living room. The kitchen has a refrigerator, a 2 burner cooktop, a Cusinart Keurig coffeemaker, a microwave and toaster. Our neighborhood, Turner Mountain Road is private, pretty and great for walking. Duners, the iconic Ivy restaurant, is a 2 minute drive. Our house is attached via a breezeway to the garage, you have your own parking spot and entrance to the apartment. Guest AccessHead east for all that Charlottesville and the University of Virginia has to offer or head west to the mountains and wineries, breweries, cideries that abound in this beautiful area. Interaction with GuestsYou will have privacy, we give you access to the apartment and do our best to leave you in peace! The NeighborhoodThis is a beautiful quiet neighborhood with houses barely visible from ours. A beautiful, hilly neighborhood for walking. Most houses have at least 5-10 acres so there aren't many people. For restaurants we love Duners which is a minute away, in downtown Cville, there are many we like but Mas and The Red Pump are probably our favorites. Getting AroundYou will need a car from here to take advantage of all Charlottesville and surrounding areas have to offer. Other Things to NoteWe do live on property and enjoy our quiet, think of this as a retreat, not a party space.
