The home has a private kitchen (oven, fridge, cooktop, microwave, coffee-maker), private bathroom with shower, two bedrooms, a living room, and a private wrap around porch. Lake view - this cabin is right on the lake. Each bedroom sleeps two, plus an additional 1-2 people can sleep on the couch/futon in the living room. Guests are able to utilize the entire property which consists of many acres of open meadows, a lake with paddle boats and a floating dock, games, and books. We encourage you to explore the mountain area or take a hike during your down time! We will have breakfast ready for you and are always available to answer your questions at check-in. This property is right on the Blue Ridge Parkway, close to Roanoke, Christiansburg, Blacksburg, and many historic sites, including Mabry Mill. Floyd, Galax, Abingdon (Barter Theater), Fancy Gap, and Chateau Morrisette; all are close by for adventure and special events. There is a country store within walking distance to the property. You will need a car to travel to Floyd or some of the local restaurants. Need space for more than 5 travellers? Our property can accomodate 20-25 individuals.     The SpaceYour 10'x14' cabin has a small private deck, bunk beds, a table, two chairs, a bent wood rocker, and a small fridge to keep drinks and snack cold. Bedding and towels are provided for your convenience . It also has it's own driveway and ample parking and turn around space. Located on 14.5 acres of mountain forest property and surrounded by trees, your cabin home is located on Spoon Mountain Farm which is also home to several Angora goats that produce mohair as well as a small herd of Alpaca. There is also have a flock of chickens and a single rooster who produce both occasional chicks and fresh eggs daily. This is a working farm utilizing several types of alternative gardening on slightly less than two acres total of the surrounding forest property. Your farming host is also working artist and fiber crafter who writes and presents creative arts programs on many topics in the various arts centers in Patrick and Floyd counties and beyond. We are less than ten minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and two and a half miles from Rte. 58, the southern east/ west state long Virginia highway. We are 22 miles from Floyd, VA, 26 miles from Mount Airy, NC, the Mayberry of Andy Griffith fame and about 36 miles west of Martinsville, where Nascar races take place. Getting AroundWe are living in the forest and in a very rural area of Southwestern Virginia, and so, there is no public transportation.

      Our cabin is cozy and comfortable. A Blue Ridge Cabin is an authentic, hand-hewn hemlock cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains, near Meadows of Dan, Floyd, and less than two miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's privately situated on a unique property with other cabins scattered around; our particular cabin is in a private location with tall trees bordering two sides, and a hillside bordering another, to offer plenty of seclusion. Parking is immediately adjacent to the cabin, with no hills or stairs to climb (other than 2 steps leading to the front porch). The cabin has wood floors, a private master bedroom with a queen bed, chest of drawers, and a closet; a great loft with a queen and single bed, and a reading nook; a full kitchen with dishes, pots, pans, coffee maker, microwave, and toaster; and bathroom with walk-in shower and a full size washer and dryer. The dining area has a solid walnut table and benches that seat six. The living room has a a cozy gas fireplace that's easy to operate, a hand-made walnut futon and coffee table, rockers, 39" cable HDTV, free WiFi, and a bluetooth stereo speaker.We have some DVDs available, plus lots of books and board and card games. There's space for seven to sleep here - a queen bed in the bedroom, with windows looking out at the trees; a queen and single bed in the loft; and a queen sleeper futon in the living room. All linens are provided for your stay. One of the best features is the large wood deck off the back of the cabin; it's quiet and comfortable, with rocking chairs, a wicker love seat, and a charcoal grill. You can put on a playlist, sit and relax with a good book and a cup of coffee or glass of wine, and enjoy. Once you're here, you can walk or drive down the private road to the Cockram Mill Complex, where the Crooked Road Cafe is becoming more and more popular for it's excellent food and live entertainment. Grab lunch and a cold drink at the cafe, and sit on the back deck overlooking the river. Also located at the Cockram Mill Complex is an antique/ consignment/ ice cream shop, perfect for a summer day. On the grounds of the cabin itself, are acres of mowed fields and gravel roads to walk, run, bike, and walk your dogs. The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than two miles away from the cabin. Lovers Leap is on Jeb Stuart Highway, only a couple of miles away, and has some of the most picturesque views around. There are several antique shops, country stores, and farmers markets in the area. Mabry Mill is the most photographed landmark on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and is just a few miles away. The mill still grinds flour more than a century since its original construction. Near Mabry Mill, you can also see the Matthews Cabin, blacksmith shop and interpretive area, as well as demonstrations on blacksmithing, carding, spinning, basket making and other traditional Appalachian crafts. Visits to local wineries such as Chateau Morrisette and Villa Appalaccia are a must. Just a little further away, enjoy local meaderies and cideries. The musically inclined can spend a few days at FloydFest - the cabin is one of the most convenient spots to stay if you're attending. Less than a half hour away, visit the unique town of Floyd, grab a microbrew, a fresh cup of coffee, visit the country stores and listen to live Bluegrass music. There's tons of things to do outdoors, including hiking the trails at Rocky Knob, Fairy Stone State Park, and climbing Buffalo Mountain. The Rocky Knob recreation area covers more than 4000 acres. Four trails offer a variety of scenic and historical wonders. The Rock Castle Gorge trail descends over three miles into the backcountry camping area in the bottom of the gorge. The strenuous and rugged nature of the trail reveal part of the reason this pathway was given National Recreational Trail status. There's also a great recreation area nearby with basketball and tennis courts, and Fred Clifton Park, a couple miles up the road, has awesome views of the northern Blue Ridge and diverse bird and butterfly watching. The cabin is an easy drive to Martinsville to catch the NASCAR races. Stuart is a beautiful drive less than 20 minutes from the cabin, while bigger box stores can be shopped in Galax, Christiansburg, and Martinsville

A Blue Ridge Cabin is an authentic, hand-hewn hemlock cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains, near Meadows of Dan, Floyd, and less than two miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's privately situated on a unique property with other cabins scattered around; our particular cabin is in a private location with tall trees bordering two sides, and a hillside bordering another, to offer plenty of seclusion. Parking is immediately adjacent to the cabin, with no hills or stairs to climb (other than 2 steps leading to the front porch). The cabin has wood floors, a private master bedroom with a queen bed, chest of drawers, and a closet; a great loft with a queen and single bed, and a reading nook; a full kitchen with dishes, pots, pans, coffee maker, microwave, and toaster; and bathroom with walk-in shower and a full size washer and dryer. The dining area has a solid walnut table and benches that seat six. The living room has a a cozy gas fireplace that's easy to operate, a hand-made walnut futon and coffee table, rockers, 39" cable HDTV, free WiFi, and a bluetooth stereo speaker.We have some DVDs available, plus lots of books and board and card games. There's space for seven to sleep here - a queen bed in the bedroom, with windows looking out at the trees; a queen and single bed in the loft; and a queen sleeper futon in the living room. All linens are provided for your stay. One of the best features is the large wood deck off the back of the cabin; it's quiet and comfortable, with rocking chairs, a wicker love seat, and a charcoal grill. You can put on a playlist, sit and relax with a good book and a cup of coffee or glass of wine, and enjoy. Once you're here, you can walk or drive down the private road to the Cockram Mill Complex, where the Crooked Road Cafe is becoming more and more popular for it's excellent food and live entertainment. Grab lunch and a cold drink at the cafe, and sit on the back deck overlooking the river. Also located at the Cockram Mill Complex is an antique/ consignment/ ice cream shop, perfect for a summer day. On the grounds of the cabin itself, are acres of mowed fields and gravel roads to walk, run, bike, and walk your dogs. The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than two miles away from the cabin. Lovers Leap is on Jeb Stuart Highway, only a couple of miles away, and has some of the most picturesque views around. There are several antique shops, country stores, and farmers markets in the area. Mabry Mill is the most photographed landmark on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and is just a few miles away. The mill still grinds flour more than a century since its original construction. Near Mabry Mill, you can also see the Matthews Cabin, blacksmith shop and interpretive area, as well as demonstrations on blacksmithing, carding, spinning, basket making and other traditional Appalachian crafts. Visits to local wineries such as Chateau Morrisette and Villa Appalaccia are a must. Just a little further away, enjoy local meaderies and cideries. The musically inclined can spend a few days at FloydFest - the cabin is one of the most convenient spots to stay if you're attending. Less than a half hour away, visit the unique town of Floyd, grab a microbrew, a fresh cup of coffee, visit the country stores and listen to live Bluegrass music. There's tons of things to do outdoors, including hiking the trails at Rocky Knob, Fairy Stone State Park, and climbing Buffalo Mountain. The Rocky Knob recreation area covers more than 4000 acres. Four trails offer a variety of scenic and historical wonders. The Rock Castle Gorge trail descends over three miles into the backcountry camping area in the bottom of the gorge. The strenuous and rugged nature of the trail reveal part of the reason this pathway was given National Recreational Trail status. There's also a great recreation area nearby with basketball and tennis courts, and Fred Clifton Park, a couple miles up the road, has awesome views of the northern Blue Ridge and diverse bird and butterfly watching. The cabin is an easy drive to Martinsville to catch the NASCAR races. Stuart is a beautiful drive less than 20 minutes from the cabin, while bigger box stores can be shopped in Galax, Christiansburg, and Martinsville

Visit Mayberry Trading Post, built in 1892 this originally housed the Mayberry Post Office as well as general store and see where the Andy Griffith family got their mail. Mayberry Presbyterian Church, founded in the early 1920’s by Rev, Bob Childress whose efforts were immortalized in the book “The Man Who Moved a Mountain”. Both a short walk from the Lodge.         This three-story, 3,900-square foot cabin can accommodate 14 guests and features five bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and one half bathroom. The beds are best equipped for 10 adults and four children. There are three bedrooms that each have a queen-size bed, one of which is a master suite with an ensuite bathroom. The fourth bedroom has a double bed and four twin beds, and the fifth bedroom has two twin beds.         Our most popular rental is the new lake cabin, which is independent and sits across the lawn from the featured white farmhouse. The cabin has 2 bedrooms - one with a new California King bed that can separate into 2 long twin beds, and a queen bed in the second bedroom. There is also a new daybed in the living area for a 5th individual, and cots to add if there are extra beds needed. The cabin has its own kitchen, bath with shower, dining area, and private lakeview deck. Ceiling fans in every room circulate our "mountain air conditioning". In the White Farmhouse, there are 2 rental units: the Master suite 2nd floor with private bath and balcony, queen bed, ceiling fan and an adjoining room with 3 singles; Another unit in the white farmhouse is the large front "quilt" room which has a new king bed and a single bed in one bedroom, with an adjoining bedroom across the hall with a double and single bed; each of these 2BR suites has common areas of kitchen, dining, sitting, and living room downstairs in farmhouse.         The Cloud Break Inn is a large cedar home on 35 acres with long range views of the mountains reaching all the way to Peaks of Otter. We have two fully equipped kitchens and a bar area. Our outdoor patio with BBQ and restrooms is perfect for a large family get together or party. Hiking trails are located around property and down to a large waterfall. Wild life abounds with Deer, turkey, chipmunks, and many birds in the area. Located five miles East of the Blue Ridge Parkway, one mile off Highway 58, on Cloud Break Road. The area offers unlimited opportunities for everyone of all ages. Primland is close by with golf courses and horse stables. Chateau Morrisette is just one of many wineries in the area. Water sports and picnicking offered at Philpott Lake or at the Fairy Stone State Park both just a short 30 minute drive away. Cloud break Inn is on the “Crooked Road”, we are in the heart of Blue Grass, Old Timey and Traditional country music. This is where Festivals occur almost every week.         Wild Cat Knob Lodge is only four miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway with incredible great views and family-friendly activities. Situated above Primland Resort, stay here and play there! Plenty of room for the family with three bedrooms. Master bedroom is on the main level with a king bed. Upstairs you'll find two more bedrooms with a queen bed in one and two twins in the other. Need to go? We have two and half baths. Our Wild Cat Knob Lodge is secluded, but we have access to numerous local television channels with our antenna. Verizon is the carrier of choice at our lodge and your cell phone will work great. For others, we have Verizon Internet access. There is no landline at the Lodge, so you'll want to use your phone to connect to Wifi Calling. Air conditioning is not required at the Lodge as the trees and breeze keep the heat at bay. In case you get a little warm, please use the whole house fan for a wonderful breeze and cooling affect.

        Ready for some R&R? Come stay with us at our newest property, the Chestnut Ridge Chalet. Located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at MM174, this Chalet is perfect for a stop off during your travels. The Chalet, brand new inside and out, is absolutely adorable. With two bedrooms and two full baths, there's plenty of room. The main level hosts the master bedroom with a queen bed and a full bath. The kitchen and living areas are right around the corner. The kitchen includes granite counter tops, gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and of course our signature Keurig Brew Station. The living room has a loveseat recliner as well as two more recliners. Enjoy the sun through the wall of windows that open up to a magnificent view of the valley.
