The SpaceComfrey Hill Cottage, built in 1928, is fully restored with wood floors throughout, a kitchen with full stove/oven, refrigerator and sink, a living room with stone fireplace, and a bedroom with a full size bed and chandelier! The cottage comfortably sleeps 2 adults and perhaps a very young child. The antique look is preserved, wood floors throughout and original local artwork accent the ambiance. There is a large deck overlooking the garden and is south facing to catch the sun, a perfect place to relax and have a glass of wine, beer, cider etc...
Across the garden up the path is a fully remodeled bathroom with large bathtub, shower, wood and tile floors, sink and toilet. (So please note: as was in 1928 The bathroom is separate from the cottage.) The bathroom has it's own private entrance and is for the use of guests only. A barbecue (bring coals) and fire pit are available. Stargazing compliment the relaxing atmosphere of our farm. We have sheep, fresh farm eggs and produce in season and organic chicken, beef and poultry. For the comfort of our guests, even though we have pets, NO PETS are allowed in the cottage. Guest AccessThe Cottage has it's own driveway, deck and property, garden and private bathroom. (Note the bathroom is separate from the cottage, a little stroll through the garden. The path is illuminated with solar lights.)
You will have the cottage to enjoy, a deck, fire pit and barbecue (bring coals) and gardens, and in the spring watch the lambs frolicking in the fields. The NeighborhoodComfrey Hill Cottage, is located across the road from Lake Terrell Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge has two access points to the lake. A short stroll up the road and around the lake; and down the road (south) is a longer walk to the opposite side of the lake where there is a boat launch and dock. Fishing for Bass is popular at Lake Terrell and in spring see the Goslings follow ma and pa down to the lake! There is a plethora of birds to see including Blue Herons, Hawks, Eagles, ducks, to name just a few...bring binoculars with you!
The beaches of Birch Bay and Sandy Point are near by, as well as Point Whitehorn Park, Hovander Park, Tenant Lake, (birding) and of course for longer trips to Mount Baker, and Vancouver B.C. We are twenty minutes south of the border. About a mile away you can buy fresh fish from Barleans and there is a convenience store 5 minutes away. (See map.) Ferndale (restaurants etc) 7 minutes, Bellingham 20.
Nightlife abounds in both. Getting Around7 minutes east to Ferndale and only 20 minutes to Bellingham, it is a perfect location for peace and quiet, yet close enough for shopping, restaurants and entertainment. 45 minutes to Vancouver International Airport. Direct flights to Bellingham International airport with Allegiant Air and Alaska.
Bellingham Airport pick up is available if required. If driving from the south, check out the scenic route 'Chuckanut Drive'
(exit Bow Hill + go west to Chuckanaut.) Go north on Chuckanut to bring you into Bellingham, then signage back to I 5. It's a beautiful drive. Other Things to NoteThe private guest bathroom is a stroll across the garden. Smell the roses! The path is illuminated at night. You have your own entrance and is solely for the use of the cottage guests.
