The Neighborhood"Olde Town Issaquah is ideal for people who want to experience the real Pacific Northwest, but prefer being close to the mountains instead of downtown Seattle." --A past guest Olde Town is the original Issaquah township built back before floating bridges connected the East side of Lake Washington to downtown Seattle. Built on the broad, level, valley terrain, Olde Town is a throwback to better times with neighborhoods built at human scales (no need for cars), clustered around a main drag--in this case, Front Street. Front Street offers more than a dozen restaurants, many of which are Seattle area favorites--including JaK's Grill, the Issaquah Brew House, and Max's World Cafe. Getting AroundTRANSIT: Bus service to downtown is good. The Metro 554 is an express bus which stops in easy walking distance, and leaves every 20 minutes or so throughout the day. YOU PROBABLY WANT/NEED A CAR: Your best bet is a car. If you have one, then it's hard to find a better location in the greater Seattle area for ease of access. You'll find drive times to popular locations posted at the top of the listing. PARKING: The house has two off-street parking spaces in the driveway, and there is plenty of street parking available as well. Other Things to NoteThe house is well loved and well maintained, but far from perfect. If you need new and perfect, then this is not the place for you. PETS Pets may be welcome, but arrangements must be made in advance.

The SpaceThe house was designed as a townhouse with two living spaces and two kitchens. We have done a lot of renovation, most recently on the 'South' townhouse area. We normally occupy the entire house. However, due to extensive travel we've decided to offer the new space to AirBnb guests. There are times when one or both of us will be home during your stay and we will remain in the 'North' unit. When we are both absent we have a house sitter live in the 'North' part of the house. The two units are separated by stairs and a doorway (no door, no lock, a Japanese screen). The space for guests is the newly remodeled area, the back 'South' driveway, the new deck area and the 'South' backyard area. Interaction with GuestsAt this time we plan to always be present or have our house sitter in the house during your stay. The NeighborhoodOld town Issaquah is a short walk downhill, a longer walk back up the hill and somewhat strenuous. Walking to town you will pass the creek, the salmon hatchery and the library. Jak's is a very famous restaurant and there are numerous other choices within two blocks of the library. There is live music at Vino Bella's (wine bar) every Friday and Saturday night. Costco and Home Depot, Walgreens, Safeway are all about 2 miles from the house. Keep your eyes out for deer, rabbits, raccoons and the occasional bear in the back yard. Getting AroundPublic buses are nearby at the Issaquah transit center on highway 900 and Newport Way NW.

The SpaceOur guest suite is all set up for a private retreat, whether a quick overnight or a weekend stay. The entire house was just remodeled from top to bottom in 2015, including this daylight basement re-design that we are now renting here on Airbnb. It is completely partitioned off from the rest of the house for your privacy and ours. You'll find immaculate, modern space with polished cement floors and white walls, paired with vintage furnishings. On entry from the terrace, you'll find a sitting room with large windows overlooking the fern garden, with large flat screen TV and access to streaming movies from Netflix. (You can also connect your own apps via Chromecast, there's WiFi throughout.) Settle in and relax in the space - it doesn't have a kitchen, but you will be set up with a little bar station including glassware, coffee mugs, electric kettle and coffee for morning. We'll take care of doing the dishes. The bedroom includes a queen size bed, four pillows, and a small television with Chromecast. Adjacent to the bedroom is a large walk in closet/dressing area with a desk and extra plug-ins for charging devices. The bright, full bath has a deep jetted soaking tub and shower, fluffy towels, shampoo, soap and hairdryer. It is separate from the bedroom so that it can be accessed from the main sitting area. When people stay the first remarks are usually about the quiet of the neighborhood. It is quite a respite from the typical noise you find in Seattle and Bellevue. At night you can see the stars, and hear the crickets (even frogs sometimes around the lakes). Keep your eye out for little rabbits who love to come by, and occasionally families of deer. You'll be guaranteed a sighting of our dogs Hilde and Rumor. Both are quiet little corgis. Guest AccessWe set this up as a private retreat for our guests, with your own entrance and a space separate from the rest of the house where we live. You are welcome to enjoy the patio space on the ground level of the guest suite looking out over the fern garden. Interaction with GuestsWe're happy to give tips and recommendations on the area, tend to keep to ourselves. We respect your privacy. (We also know people who like A-Frames like to see the space - so happy to give you a tour!) We like to make things easy for everyone, and are easily reachable by text. We will coordinate with you on your arrival time, and if schedules are too difficult will arrange for you to pick up the keys on site. The NeighborhoodMirrormont is a special place. Everyone here lives on approximately an acre, and you'll see giant trees and ferns, and if you watch you'll see rabbits, deer, hummingbirds and even eagles. We haven't seen one yet - but sometimes people have bear sightings! What's nice is that it is only 15 minutes from old town Issaquah and Front Street, which has a vibrant arts and culture scene with wine walks, festivals, multiple theaters and great spots for food and drinks. You'll find the fish hatchery and the trolleys, the iconic Boehm's Chocolates, lots of public art and art galleries. On your way from Issaquah to Mirrormont you'll find the Seattle Paragliding, trail heads for Tiger and Squak Mountain, Fox Hollow Farms petting zoo, the Cougar Mountain Zoo, wineries, and Christmas Tree farms! During the summer and early fall, make sure to check out the Issaquah Farmer's Market at Pickering Farms. Getting AroundMirrormont is approximately 6 miles from Issaquah, accessible by car or bicycle for experienced cyclists. Many cyclists and hikers love to come out to this area for the great routes through horse farms, wooded areas and trails. Basically by car you're 15 minutes from Issaquah, and then from downtown Issaquah to Seattle it is 17 miles (another 20-40 minutes depending upon traffic.) We recommend checking traffic (and using the Waze app) as it can get bogged down during commuting hours. Issaquah does have a fabulous park and ride if you want to ditch the car and head in to Seattle or Bellevue. (It's right across the street from Top Pot Doughnuts - ideal for coffee and a treat on your way to the city). The neighborhood itself is very walkable - quiet roads, big trees. You'll see other dog-walkers, and occasionally someone going by on horseback (there's lots of horse farms around). Other Things to NoteThe guest suite does not have a kitchen, and restaurants are all at least a 15 minute drive. Cell phone coverage is spotty up here. If you have AT&T we can add you to our booster and you'll get good coverage while you are in the house (usually full bars). Some guests like the idea of "unplugging" and are fine with just using our wifi rather than cell coverage. Otherwise we recommend bringing a wifi booster if you're not with AT&T. We do live upstairs full-time. We are quiet, but our kitchen is above the guest suite, so you will hear us as we cook dinner.

The SpaceThe open floor plan upstairs overlooks sweeping lake views. This amazing home has one bedroom with queen bed, plus a sleeper sofa that comfortably accommodates two. We have also included a euro lounger downstairs in the hall / entry space that can fold out and sleep two people. Their is a spiral staircase connecting the two floors, and the outside stairs provide a good alternative way to get from top to bottom floors for those uncomfortable on the steep inside staircase. We have been told this may not be the most suitable place for very young toddlers to stay! Downstairs you will find two full bathrooms, a washer and dryer, dresser and mirror, and generous closet space. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, plus hair dryers are provided for your convenience. Please note that the lake access is down a sloping hillside, and is surrounded by wetland/grass. Boats are available for your use: single kayak, youth kayak, inflatable raft, and a row boat. There is a massive fire pit down near the lake - enjoy! We also have a grill for your use, and a portable AC unit upstairs for your comfort, and the house is fully heated. December 1-April 30 is available for 30-day or longer rentals only. Please message us to inquire! Guest AccessThe whole house is yours! Parking is located on the gravel pad opposite the house (across the street/lake side). There is plenty of room for several cars. The bonfire pit and boats on the concrete pad are also for your use. PLEASE NOTE: neighbor's dock is not to be used and is not part of the rental. Interaction with GuestsWe live 45 minutes away so we won't be there unless you have an emergency. We are always reachable by phone call or text. The NeighborhoodLake McDonald is a small lake with fishing and non-motorized boating. There are about 75 properties around the lake and the surrounding area is recognized as wetlands. About 5 miles away there is a 24-hour QFC grocery store, Bartell Drug, Starbucks, Jack in the Box, and other retail. Getting AroundLocation is 20 minutes from Issaquah and Renton; 30 minutes from Seattle (more if heavy traffic). Other Things to NotePlease note that although we do not generally allow pets, we have on occasion allowed a friend's dog inside the house, so this home might not be suitable for the very highly pet allergic. We do clean thoroughly between guests so we don't anticipate an issue, but a guest recommended that we add this to our listing so here it is! :)

The SpaceCome out to the country and enjoy a weekend getaway! Stay for just a night or spend the entire weekend. This is a brand new cabin on Issaquah Creek. If you're here at the right time in the fall, you can sit by the creek and watch the salmon swim past on their way to spawn! It is a cozy studio-style cabin with a new queen size bed, dining table, chairs and an efficiency kitchen (microwave, kitchen sink and refrigerator). It also has a bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. It has an electric fire place mantel that gives just the right ambiance. On a nice day, sit on the banks of the creek and read a book or simply let your mind drift while you listen to the calming sounds of the creek washing by. The cabin is minutes away from several fantastic hiking trails, Seattle's best parasailing and Lake Sammamish State Park (where you can rent paddle boards, kayaks or canoes during the summer). There are numerous restaurants and pubs/wine bars in the area. The cabin is just about a mile from a great little coffee stand and a mini-mart/gas station. Guest AccessThe cabin is completely separate from the main home and has a private drive, so you will have absolute privacy. I will give you the combination of the lock box the day of your arrival so you can get the key to unlock the door. Interaction with GuestsThe fire pit makes for a very relaxing evening enjoying a glass of wine while reading a book or chatting with your host. The fire pit is located on your left hand side if you are looking toward the creek. Go through the goats pen and it will be on the other side. Let me know if you need help starting the fire and I will happily help you out if I am at the property. You can help yourself to the wood that is on the premises. I put small branches near the fire pit which will help you start the fire and you will find logs underneath the tarp. I put a lighter on the counter top in the cabin. The NeighborhoodThe paragliding is only a few minutes away and tiger mountain will offer you an awesome hike. Getting AroundIf you come to the cabin during afternoon rush hour (weekdays between 3:30 - 6:30 PM), from downtown Issaquah you should take SR900 to May Valley Road. If you are leaving the cabin during the morning rush hour (weekdays between 7:30 - 8:30 AM) and headed towards downtown Issaquah you should take SR900. Other Things to NoteYou will have bagels (in the freezer), cream cheese, cheese sticks, coffee packets, water bottle, pop corn and a few more condiments in the cabin to welcome you. There are two small goats (Misty and Squishy) in the pen between the cabin and the main house. They will love you forever if you pet them. The cabin comes with a TV and blue ray dvd player. It has internet access and netflix. I have a small collection of movies that I am happy to share with you.
