The SpaceOur Basement Suite provides a nice private space. Please note that it is the basement unit of our house, and while your space is private, it is still part of the house. Hot water heater, thermostat, etc. are shared between our living space, and the basement suite.
The Bedroom has a queen bed with a fluffy down duvet, large closet, 40 inch flat screen TV with Roku (includes Netflix, Amazon Prime, and select TV channel apps), as well as a dresser, and a full length mirror.
The living room is at ground level so it has a lot of nice natural light. It has comfy furniture, a flat screen TV with cable (including HBO) and a DVD player, a two person game table that can be used for dining, and a closet full of games and DVDS.
The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator and Brita pitcher, microwave, Keurig with some starter pods, toaster oven that can fit a 12 inch pizza, induction cook plate with pots and pans, crockpot, waffle maker, sink, dishes and utensils. We also have a loaner growler for guests to take with them when they go out exploring, so that they can fill it up at one of the many local area breweries, and bring it back to the suite to enjoy after a long day of adventuring. The kitchen and laundry room occupy the same space, which includes a washer, dryer, laundry soap, and dryer sheets.
The private bathroom is off of the living room and has a shower with a detachable shower head, please be advised this is an older house, so the stall is a little snug. We have spare toiletries in the bathroom, in case you happen to forget anything.
We have a fully fenced backyard, and well behaved dogs are welcome on a case by case basis. No more than two dogs at a time. Dog beds and bowls are available upon request. Guest AccessTo access the suite you will need to go through the back yard around the right side of the house. We may be able to be flexible on check in / check out times, please just arrange with us in advance, it just depends on what other guest bookings we have. We have a hot tub and fire pit in the backyard that you are welcome to use. A box of firewood and roasting sticks can be provided for the fire pit. We also have a BBQ on our deck that you're welcome to use, but please arrange with us first. We often keep our dogs on the deck, and we just want to make sure they're out of the way. Please make sure to close gates whenever you go through them. Interaction with GuestsWe both work full time, so it might take us a little bit of time to respond to emails or texts during the work day, but we'll get back to you as soon as we can! The private entrance has a key pad to let you in, so you can come and go as you please. We will reset the code to whatever you would like. We're usually around in the mornings and evenings if you have any questions or need any help. You may come into contact with our two friendly golden retrievers as well. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything!
We tend to keep Tango and Banjo up on the deck unless guests request that we leave the ramp gate open so that they can come down to say hello. We are not offended at all if you would prefer to admire them from a distance that is safe from muddy paws, endless requests for tennis ball throws, and attempted doggy kisses. We do have a little jar of treats in the kitchen, in case you want to make a new best friend. The NeighborhoodWe're very conveintly located. There are several grocery stores and restuarants within a few minutes. We are half way between the Panther Lake area of Kent, and Benson Plaza in Renton. We're also about 5 minutes from Fairwood. Without traffic we're about 7-10 minutes from 405, 5 minutes from HWY 167, 15 minutes from HWY 18 making it easy to get to I-90 if you're needing someplace to stay over before heading over the pass. We're about 45 minutes from Snoqualmie pass and snow park, 7 minutes from Ikea, 10 minutes from South Center, 15 minutes from SeaTac Airport, and about 20-25 minutes from Bellevue and 25-30 minutes to the heart of Downtown Seattle when there is no traffic. On week nights we can leave our house and be to Safeco Field in 25 minutes. We also have a wonderful 6 mile inter-urban trail just down the road from us. Getting AroundWe highly recommend that you have a car when staying with us. It takes about an hour and a half to get from our house to Seattle all on Public transportation in the best of circumstances. Other Things to NoteWe have a very large private driveway that's well hidden, so it's a very safe place to park even the largest of vehicles. An RV power hook up is available in the driveway for an additional $5 per day, please arrange with us ahead of time. We also have a big garage and we're happy to put bikes inside if it makes you more comfortable. We also have two bikes and helmets that you're welcome to take out on the trail down the road.
Our home was built in 1947 and while well maintained the floorboards do squeak. We try our best to tread lightly but if you need absolute quiet our suite might not be the best fit for you.
We also have two Golden Retrievers Tango, and Banjo. They like to bark at the mailman, or new people when they first see them, but they are otherwise pretty quite. They don't frequent the suite but please consider them if you have allergies.
