The SpaceI have a beautiful, immaculate, well-appointed two-room vacation suite available for rent by the day or week. Accommodations include a private bedroom (double bed), a private living room (HDTV, mini refrigerator and pull out sofa bed) and private bath with shower/tub. Guests have the upstairs of my townhome to themselves (though there is no private entrance). Guests may have access to the laundry, if needed. I do have one 4-1/2 year-old cat named Sophie. She is declawed and is an indoor-only cat. My home is conveniently located in Vancouver, WA--easily reached from either I-5 or I-205 and approximately 20+ minutes from downtown Portland (depending on traffic)! The townhouse is located on a quiet neighborhood cul-de-sac--Vancouver Mall, restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance if you need to get away. NOTE: The per night price is for 2 people. Additional persons are $10 each and will be accommodated using the sofa sleeper in the guest living room which opens into a full size bed. NOTE: Since this is my private residence, I do require a refundable $100 security deposit for all reservations--it is collected by AirBNB before checking in and returned by AirBNB within 48 hours after checking out (unless there is an issue). As you can see I have terrific reviews from the 160+ guests who have stayed with me over the past 4 years! Your comfort is my goal. Guest AccessGuests have access to a mini fridge upstairs, two HD televisions, DVD players, hair dryer, a computer desk, books, CDs. Interaction with GuestsThe guest suite is upstairs, though the entrance is downstairs. Guests may have as much privacy as they desire. Other Things to NoteCheck-in time is usually after 2:00 p.m. while check-out time is Noon (so that I have time to clean the suite before incoming guests arrive). But feel free to contact me to see if there is some flexibility with those times (depending on whether I have bookended reservations).

Here in Vancouver, there is the Columbia River, many walking paths through beautiful wooded nature preserves & lots of wonderful yoga studios! There is also a beautifully serene, outdoor labyrinth right across the street from me! Free & always available to anyone who would like to experience it's peace. I have 2 cats, so those allergic would not be comfortable here. *****Please read the AMENITIES page & the HOUSE RULES page for other important information to be sure my home is a fit for you. Guest AccessThe one bedroom, a full bath, a small area for eating with microwave & frig, living room area. Also, it is best suited for folks who are gone during the day, Tuesdays through Saturdays, as I use that living area for my students & clients, usually from 12 - 6:30 pm. Interaction with GuestsI have a pretty full life, so I don't have the time that maybe some people are looking for from a host. I will greet you upon arrival & show you around. I will always be available (I live upstairs) by text for any questions or needs you may have! : ) When my schedule allows, I love to chat with and get to know guests better. I've shared meals with guests, in and out, as well as watched a movie or gone for walks when time allows. If you are looking for solitude, I can easily support that for you! The NeighborhoodThe outdoor labyrinth across the street. Getting AroundBus stop about 3 blocks walk. Other Things to NoteI have lived here since 1987. The back door is rarely locked and not locked while you are here. You can lock it from the inside at night when you are here if it would make you more comfortable. There is a window in the kitchenette that looks out onto the backyard which is completely private, so I do not have curtains or a blind on it. There is no need. There are removable blackout shades in the bedroom, as there is a very bright street light over the parking area, that shines into one window. I had stayed in that room for 3 months while the upstairs was being remodeled and never noticed it because of how I sleep, but have made those available for those it might affect.

The SpaceMy home is in an historic district and is 104 years old - full of character and uniqueness. High ceilings and colorful walls make this house very relaxing and fun. Guest AccessGuests have private room with comfortable queen bed and private door to attached bathroom. Shared living room and kitchen, large front porch and outdoor patio area in backyard, both with chairs and tables. An additional guest can be accommodated on a single sleeper couch in the living room off the guest bedroom. Interaction with GuestsI enjoy getting to know my guests and finding out about their lives and travels, but also know that traveling is hectic and allow my guests their own space to relax and rejuvenate during their stay. I like sharing information if guests want ideas for places to eat, visit, or adventure. The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is quiet, despite being a 15 minute walk to the downtown Center of Vancouver and a 10 minute drive to downtown Portland. It is easy access to the Interstate 5, but far enough away for my guests to get a peaceful nights sleep! The single family homes are each unique and many are historic, reflecting the links to our cities rich history. New tap rooms, such as the Thirsty Sasquatch, as well as eateries, bakeries and coffee shops are a short walk from my house. Getting AroundIf coming from the PDX airport, Blue Star shuttle is a good deal or there is Radio Cab or other taxi service is available. Also, bus lines run nearby. Otherwise it is necessary to have a car or enjoy walking to coffee shops, restaurants, Ester short, riverfront cafes, etc. Uber rideshare is now in Vancouver!

The SpaceSpend your nights in this nicely appointed pool house and your days laying by the pool or cooking in the outdoor kitchen. Separate gated driveway from owners home leads you to this adorable pool (we like to call it our 'beach') house. Located in a nice quiet neighborhood of Vancouver and 12 minutes from downtown Portland you will be centrally located to everything the area has to offer. Inside the pool house you will find: the highest quality fold down couch IKEA offers located in the main room. A kitchenette with dining table, refrigerator (smaller than shows in picture), microwave, sink, toaster, coffee maker and dishes. The outside kitchen includes a charcoal or gas BBQ, and sink! And a full bathroom with access to the pool. We are excited to share our pool house with guests as we have enjoyed airbnb in the past. Interaction with GuestsWe would be glad to meet you, but in most cases with the private driveway, separate house, and lockbox for the key we don't meet all guests. The NeighborhoodWe love the wide streets, the bigger lots, the park just 2 blocks away, easy access and centrally located to just about anything we need. Getting AroundPublic transportation is just a block away. Other Things to NoteHot tub is available year round. The pool is seasonal.

The SpaceEnjoy the quiet and character of one of Vancouver's coolest historic neighborhoods, while having quick access to both downtown Vancouver and downtown Portland! Large, light-filled private room with queen bed, eating/work table, private bathroom and ample closet/storage space. Semi-private entry and access to laundry facilities and kitchen (there is also a mini-fridge and some food storage space in the room). Large backyard and many pleasant places to walk or bike nearby. Excellent access to public transit for trips both within Vancouver and into Portland. My place is a unique 1943 house that was built for workers from the nearby Kaiser shipyards during World War II. It has been completely remodeled. Your room is removed enough from the rest of the house that you can have plenty of privacy. You are also welcome to enjoy the back yard when the weather is nice (or even when it isn't!). The room can accommodate up to 3 people. But unless the third person is a small child, he or she will need to sleep on a rollaway bed with memory foam mattress (which I provide). I have sheets, pillows and some extra bedding for the rollaway bed, or provide your own. Extra $10 per night for the third person. House is within a 5-10 minute drive of downtown Vancouver, Vancouver Convention Center, Vancouver Farmers Market, Clark College, Fort Vancouver Historic Site/Officers Row, River Renaissance Trail, PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and Portland International Airport. Grocery shopping and several good restaurants nearby. Downtown Portland (home of the legendary Powell's Books and Voodoo Donuts!) and the lively Mississippi, Alberta, St. Johns and Williams neighborhoods in north/northeast Portland are within a 15 to 20 minute drive. I am a medical professional and work at a nearby hospital. My 16-year-old son is with me much of the time. One or more of my three adult daughters sometimes make a visit. I love both Portland and Vancouver and know both cities well. I'm happy to offer you recommendations on restaurants, sights and activities. My biggest passion is hiking and if you have some spare time, I'd be delighted to direct you to some of my favorite hikes near the cities or in the spectacular Columbia River Gorge, which is a 25-45 minute drive away. I look forward to hearing from you! Access to kitchen and laundry facilities. Living room/dining room and upstairs rooms are mostly family space, but you're welcome to drop by the living room and visit. I tend to give my guests plenty of space. However I enjoy meeting my guests and hearing their stories. Please don't hesitate to come chat! It's an historic neighborhood close to downtown Vancouver and the Columbia River. Very friendly neighbors, big trees, kids playing in the street. Great parks and places to walk nearby. There is a bus line a block away. Public transit is good within Vancouver. If you'll be needing to go into Portland a lot, you'll need a car. There is plenty of on-street parking. The airport is very close (a twelve-minute drive), but a very long trip on public transit. You'll need a rental car or to get a cab. Guest AccessAccess to kitchen and laundry facilities. But Chris likes to play his (acoustic) guitar in the living room some times in the evenings. You may hear water from the upstairs going through the drain pipe in the wall in your room when we shower or use the sink, although only two guests have mentioned this since 2012.

The SpaceOur master is elegant, quiet & comfortable which makes for a perfect honeymoon suite. The California king bed is outfitted with a top-tier quality mattress. The furnishings are heavy, solid dark wood. The ornate linens are stylish with emerald, topaz & amethyst accents woven throughout the brocade comforter & bejeweled pillows. The sheets are imported, high-thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. We are still outfitting the room so there may be changes from time to time but you get the general idea. The shower is 4 feet and there is a floor-to-ceiling linen closet, plus a cozy commode room for private reading sessions. Guest AccessYou have unlimited access to our living room & paver patio, which is expansive measuring 24 feet long. Between the patio, your room & bath you have about 1,200 square feet of space so it's like having your own villa! Beyond that there is a small refrigerator in your room for drinks & snacks. We also have a dedicated coffee & tea station in the common area atop an antique English sideboard (more on that later). We just installed the Keurig 550 machine so folks can make their own cups of java, tea or cocoa with filtered water! I cook nearly every day so you are always welcome to join us for a warm meal. Please note that I do travel a lot but we will try & arrange for someone to greet you. I used to teach cooking so let me know if you want to learn a few new dishes! We eat whole, organic foods & focus on healthy eating habits. I make a quinoa casserole with chicken, cheese & broccoli that everyone loves but we cook vegetarian upon request since we are slowly going towards that anyway! Recently I dazzled guests with a homemade quiche for breakfast but that is only very occasional! We've installed an antique English sideboard to serve as a tea and coffee self-serve kiosk. Please use our 160-year-old sideboard very gently and clean up after yourself! It's ornately carved & absolutely gorgeous with a Gothic arch! There are traditional teas of all manner as well! Help yourself but please clean up after yourself! Interaction with GuestsI live on site with my daughter so there is always someone to help you. I grew up here & know the area well and can give you loads of information about fine restaurants, sightseeing, live music & so on. Our house is elegant, comfortable & quiet. The neighborhood is upscale, safe & everyone walks here for recreation. Just for fun we posted a picture of our dairy just down the way where locals walk. This area is called "Felida" & is known for its natural beauty & serenity away from the hustle & bustle. We now offer two rooms on AirBnb so we could possibly accommodate a small group of travelers. Please note that we are a STRICTLY shoes-off household! We eat healthy organic produce out of our garden (think Kale, tomatoes, pumpkins, rainbow chard, squash and more tomatoes!) We DO NOT allow smoking of any substance (including marijuana) anywhere on the premises. We just returned from adventures in Maine & Cape Cod! We love meeting fellow travelers from around the globe! Bring your appetite & stories! The NeighborhoodOurs is a very upscale, lush & quiet neighborhood yet less than 20 minutes to downtown Portland & PDX. We are in a good location in that we are four miles to either interstate highway (I-5 & I-205) so you can travel to either side of town or Portland with either highway. We are also close to the Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital (4 miles) & Clark County Ampitheatre for concerts & the annual fair the first week in August! Salmon Creek has it's own Farmer's Market on Thursdays about three miles away. Downtown Vancouver has a great Farmer's Market every weekend. But closer than all that we have a wine bar & restaurant, vet clinic, convenience store, yoga studio (Barre 3), full beauty salon & bakery ALL within walking distance! All of these are family owned businesses that we try to support. Getting AroundWe have a gravel-filled parking space in front of the house. If you don't have a car there are 3 private companies offering bus service to the airport but most folks without a car use Uber. Also there is a city bus stop not far from our home (one guest gave a beautiful & detailed explanation of public bus transportation in his review). Unfortunately, my children & I are super busy with after school activities so we will generally not be able to drive you but there car rental agencies, public transportation, UBER drivers & taxis aplenty. Other Things to NoteOur home is conveniently located to WSU, Portland, downtown Vancouver & Legacy Hospital so don't let the map make you think otherwise. From our home to WSU is less than 4 miles. We are a progressive family & use low-VOC paints, recycle & keep a veggie garden. I will try to be here to greet you & make sure you are comfortable in your space & in our home. We tend to be social people but are considerate of your needs so if you need privacy that works too. Breakfast may be charmingly simple or amazingly epicurean but it will always be nearly all organic! We grow our own veggies & raspberries. This year we're planting blueberries. After a successful blueberry harvest we plan to make jams & jellies! We are a shoes-off household! No smoking is allowed because I have an asthmatic child living here. We recycle cardboard, plastic & paper under the kitchen sink. The garbage is on the north end of the kitchen island. Please let us know ahead of time if you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary or other joyful milestone! Certainly a little adult beverage can be arranged with prior notice! We are a progressive, inclusive & rainbow family. We celebrate diversity and are LGBT friendly!
