The SpaceWelcome to our cabin! We have taken to calling this place the Tree Fort since it looks like it sits among the trees from the lake. We bought this place in 2005 and have done a complete remodel over the years and we really love it. We have family in the area and are friends with a lot of people on the lake, whom we regularly tie up with on the lake and take turns hosting gatherings at each others' cabins. It is a great community. Unfortunately, we both work during the week and the place sits empty for the most part. Thus, the reason we have opened our cabin to you! We have had many friends up over the years and made a lot of great memories. We hope you are able to make some lasting memories during your stay as well.
The cabin is located 0n Lower Long Lake near the town of New Auburn, WI just 45 minutes north of Eau Claire, WI and 2 hours and 15 minutes from the Twin Cities. The lake is a good sized lake at 1100 acres. The lake is a good fishing lake and is fully recreational. The cabin has a full kitchen, two full bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, a loft and great common spaces. Two of the bedrooms upstairs have queen beds and the third room has twin bunks with a crib. The basement also has a queen bed. There are also two couches for any overflow sleepers.
Other than the beautiful cabin and the lake access, the near-by town of Chetek offers plenty of fun activities for families, couples, and individuals. Fish, kayak, and have a fire in the fire pit and roast hot dogs and make s'mores, sit on the dock and enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun set over the lake. Take a twenty minute drive and head into Chetek to enjoy restaurants, bars, coffee shop, boutique shopping, library, and grocery store. There will be information available at the cabin detailing local restaurants, bars, and other points of interest. Guest AccessSummer Seasonal Check in time is 3pm on Sunday and check out by 11am on Friday or Sunday (Depending on availability)
Off season weekend dates available
Guests will enjoy the following activities:
Fishing dock, adult kayaks, fire pit with chairs, trampoline in the lake. We also have a gas grill and grilling utensils for your use. If you run out of propane, it is available at the Corner Store (BP at Hwy 40 and M); however, we will always try to have an extra tank.
There is a dock and steps at shoreline (no walk in beach), but the water is clean and great for swimming. There are no weeds or muck. Jump off the dock or trampoline and enjoy the water!
Kids can play in the front or back yard. As this year we may be doing some outdoor landscaping projects, please be aware. Interaction with GuestsGuests can check themselves in using the lock box on the front door. We will provide them with the code and change it after each reservation. A guestbook with more information will be left inside. We have family and friends in the area and someone may stop by during the week to make sure all is going okay.
You can contact Travis or Bryan during your stay by phone or email should you need to ask questions or have concerns. Texting is the best way to get ahold of use during the work day. The NeighborhoodThe cabin is located near the end of a dead end road and there is not much traffic. It is a quiet neighborhood comprised of families and retirees. We are on the back side of the lake so our bay tends to be quieter, especially in the evenings. You will love the sound of the loons calling to one another across the bay. Keep your eye out for loon chicks! Getting AroundGetting to the cabin:
Our cabin is located near the end of a gravel road and most map apps on your phones will get you to the last turn; however, the last 1/2 mile tends to confuse Siri at times! Directions are below.
After taking a right on 149th Street (aka Ketchpaw Road)...
1. Go about ½ mile and take a left turn. This left will be after a cluster of 3-4 mailboxes at the start of going down a hill. Our house number 28076 will be on one of the boxes.
2. Take the 2nd left which will take you up a short steep hill. Our house is then the first one on the right. It has a turnaround drive and is light sage colored with brown shutters (fire number 28076). It is confusing and everyone gets lost the first time, so don’t worry! We are on a dead end peninsula so there are only so many cabins!!! Other Things to NoteProvided for our guests to enjoy....
