The SpaceWelcome to my historic home and your colorful, comfy 2nd floor private room with a Beatles theme! The guest room has a full-size futon bed with memory foam topper for 1 person or 2 people who can sleep together. If you are a couple traveling with a small child, I can provide a cot or bedroll. There is an adjacent 1/2 bath; the primary bathroom with shower is downstairs on the main floor. The stone exterior keeps the house cool in summer; ceiling fans throughout the house.
If your family is 3 or 4, check my separate listing for my cool, spacious Art Studio , just steps from the main house. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/7661185 More privacy, full and single beds, and an additional cot available. There is no toilet or WIFI in the studio, though. All guests may utilize the primary downstairs bathroom in the house, which has a nice shower and plenty of clean towels.
Use the kitchen and Weber grill to prepare meals if you'd like (just let me know in advance). Coffee or tea provided before you head in to town for breakfast. Make yourself at home. Enjoy the surroundings during the day and the starry, starry night! Guest AccessAccess to shared living areas (1/2 bathroom, master bathroom, living room, kitchen), new deck with grill, fire pit, yard, and prairie trails. Interaction with GuestsI like to greet my guests upon arrival, show you around and let you get settled. This is a situation in which you are sharing my living space. I'm gregarious, and I'm more than happy to interact as much as you'd like, but I will also stay out of your way. You can enjoy complete privacy in your room, on the deck, or strolling around the 3-acre property and adjacent park land. The NeighborhoodYou'll love my charming old home, which some guests have lovingly referred to as a "Hobbit House." My property is a 3-acre parcel of mostly restored prairie and large oak and walnut trees. The stone house is 165 (or so) years old and has been lovingly restored since my family purchased it in 1967. The property is just a few miles from Epic, and the charming towns of Mt. Horeb, Blue Mounds, New Glarus, and Spring Green. It is adjacent to 300-acre Donald Park, with miles of hiking and equestrian trails. Numerous bike trails are nearby, and a world-class trout stream is just down the road. Getting AroundYou will need a vehicle--there is no public transportation in the area. My driveway is fairly steep, but regularly plowed in winter. The Madison airport is 30 miles away. Other Things to NoteThere are many great side trips (for car and bicycle) within a 30-mile radius: New Glarus Brewery, Blue Mound State Park, Taliesin, Wisconsin Brewing Company, Cave of the Mounds, House on the Rock, American Players Theater, and of course, fabulous Madison! Kayak or canoe many local rivers and lakes. Wisconsin Dells, Baraboo, and Devil's Lake State Park are an hour away. Great area for cycling--in early September, the bike route for Iron Man Triathalon goes right by the road to my house!
