The SpaceWe built our "farm style" home on 3 acres in a quiet environmental subdivision abutting a nature conservancy. An open concept floor plan and hardwood floors throughout the main level gives a spacious feel, allowing lots of light and views of the woods and marsh. Bird feeders outside the windows will keep you entertained! This is our main home so there are personal items throughout. Dressers and closets have clothing etc... We have done several home exchanges so we are accustomed to dealing with guests who understand that this is our main residence and are comfortable with personal items. When we have airbnb guests at our home we move to our north woods cabin, but our clothing and personal items stay behind. Please take this into consideration when you choose to stay. Also...please see our log home in Mercer Wisconsin for reviews.
A large fully equipped open concept kitchen is a joy for those who love to cook! Granite counter tops, stainless appliances, expresso maker, panini maker, baking stones, Kitchenaid mixer etc... Just about anything you need you will find as Sheri loves to cook!
Enjoy your meals at the custom Amish built table for 6 which is semi surrounded by windows and views of the woods or move to the screen porch. The screen porch is our favorite place to be in the spring, summer and fall! A perfect spot to sip coffee in the morning. Later in the day, an antique wooden table can be opened while you pull up wicker chairs to enjoy an el fresco dinner. Too hot? An overhead fan will keep you comfortable. Want to move outside? Enjoy your meal while sitting at the outdoor patio set overlooking the woods.
If the weather isn't conducive for outdoor dining relax at the antique table and oak buffet in our formal dining room.
Moving upstairs, the master bedroom has a new king sized bed. Windows provide views of the woods and a ceiling fan provides a lovely breeze so we rarely use our central air conditioning. The partially tiled master bath has a walk in shower and whirlpool tub to soak those muscles in case you are sore from hiking our many nearby state trails!
Down the hall are 2 additional bedrooms with very comfortable queen sized beds. One room is equipped with a flat screen TV. These 2 bedrooms share a tile floored bathroom with walk in shower. A pocket door provides privacy if two people are using the bathroom at the same time.
A loft area provides a desk/work area with internet access. WIFI is available throughout the house and often reaches into the screen porch.
A lower level finished recreation room includes a ping pong/pool table, exercise equipment, big screen cable TV, a great variety of movies and an electronic dart board.
When you are ready to head back outside to enjoy the natural beauty surrounding our home, our quiet and private backyard has perennial gardens, bird feeders, fire pit, lawn games, sports equipment, basketball hoop and gas grill. Take a walk down to the marsh and listen to frogs or look for sandhill cranes, hawks, ducks, turtles and deer. If you are very quiet you may see "Woody." He is a large woodchuck who lives in the backyard. No need to fear! He is more afraid of you and will run if he sees you!
Lastly, we do have 2 beautiful cats that will not be present during your stay. We are Immaculate housekeepers so it should not be a problem.
We are primarily interested in stays of one week or longer, but may consider a stay of 3 days or more.

Our home is in a very quiet location, because of this you are likely to fall asleep to the sound of croaking frogs living in the marsh and wake up to deer sightings in the field adjacent to our home. Bird feeders attract an endless array of wildlife including wild turkey, tree squirrels, cardinals, finch, bluejays and sometimes small snapping turtles meandering through the woods. It is the best of both worlds...close to charming historic cities, a short drive to all that Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago have to offer and yet quiet and park like with 3 acres of woods and marsh.
We have wonderful restaurants, antique stores, small towns, flea markets, local festivals, hiking and swimming in Kettle Moraine State Forest.
