Garrison Farm is a traditional cottage set 1 mile off the West Highland Way, with grazing ground and outbuildings commanding outstanding mountain and river views. The buildings once formed The Garrison Of Inversnaid built in 1718 built by the Duke of Montrose for housing English soldiers to fight the Jacobite rising and the infamous Rob Roy MacGregor. Inversnaid is a popular stop point for walkers on the West Highland Way and is a lovely place to rest and recuperate ahead of another days walking. Inversnaid has views over Loch Lomond and the Arrochar Alps and is a real beauty spot. The RSPB have now opened a new visitors centre behind Garrison Farm for the public to enjoy the large array of birds that we have in the area. We would recommend grabbing a meal and drink in Inversnaid Bunkhouse which is only 500m away from Garrison Farm.

A beautifully restored detached cottage on the private shore road of Loch Katrine, with two bedrooms (one double and one twin) and open plan kitchen/sitting area with log burning stove (logs provided, please bring your own kindling/firelighters). In a fantastic position surrounded by glorious countryside and open aspects to Loch Katrine. Wonderful walking, cycling and hill climbing with wildlife and bird spotting. In the summer months the SS Sir Walter Scott sails by regularly, alongside The Lady of the Lake. Take a cruise from the Trossachs Pier nearby and take in the fabulous views from the Loch. We are in the middle of Rob Roy MacGregor country!! Outside we have a charcoal barbecue and a lovely decking area with table and chairs to take in the full beauty of the view with a glass of wine or whatever your tipple is! Gordon has built a wonderful wooden building in the back garden (we've called it the Wendy House but actually it's quite big!) - inside are a table and chairs and a chiminea which also serves as a BBQ, so why not cook a steak and eat out looking at the lovely view of Ben Lomond and the far off hills across the loch? Sunsets to die for!! We pride ourselves in providing our guests a home from home - good quality bedlinen and towels and a well-equipped kitchen. All our guests seem to sleep well here - it must be the good clean Scottish air! We welcome well behaved dogs to our cottage - this is an ideal place to share with your four legged friends as the walks nearby are wonderful and if your dog is anything like our two labradors, the water is a big draw for a daily swim. Boats can be hired for fishing on nearby Loch Venachar. Prices above for weekly rates with changeover day on a Saturday - we regret short break stays will no longer be available. Please see owner's website for full details of weekly charges and email if you have any questions. Situated on the north shore of Loch Katrine approximately 30 minutes drive from nearby Callander and Aberfoyle where you will find plenty of shops and restaurants, the cottage is on a private road little used by vehicles. Loch Katrine is stuated within the stunning Trossachs National Park just over an hour from Glasgow or Edinburgh airports. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, some covered by snow in winter months, we have stunning scenery second to none. Whatever the time of year the surrounding area is gorgeous - in springtime there's the bluebells and fresh greenery everywhere, in summer lush wildflowers, harebells and wild orchids, then in autumn the changing colours of the leaves as they fall...ending in a winter wonderland of peace and tranquility. Because of our location a car is obviously a necessity. Nearby, about 15 minutes drive away, we have the lovely Byre Inn - wonderful food and great ambience. You'll be sure of a warm welcome. There's the tearoom at Stronachlacher Pier, and one also at the Trossachs Pier end. Up towards Inversnaid at the top end of Loch Lomond you can find The Bunkhouse - good homecooking and a great welcome from both of the guys who run it and their gorgeous dog! But for wonderful cakes and scones you must visit the Wee Blether at Kinlochard, about 25 minutes drive away but what a drive! Stunning scenery so get your camera out - you may even come across the little groups of wild goats that hang around this area. There are plenty of restaurants/tearooms both in Callander and Aberfoyle. Great fish supper at Mhor Fish in Callander and tasty pizzas at Ciros. The cafĂŠ at Loch Venachar on the way to Callander gets really good write-ups and the view is to die for. The Tearoom at Brig o Turk is also very popular. For a really special meal visit Monachyle Mhor in Balquhidder or the Roman Camp Hotel in Callander. This is a great location for outdoor activities, but if it's history you're interested in then we have loads of it on our doorstep. Visit the MacGregor graveyards at the top end of the loch, Dunblane cathedral or Inchmahome Priory to name but a few. We have loads of tourist leaflets in the cottage to whet your appetite. But if it's rest and relaxation you need - look no further, this is the place. Sit on the decking and watch the many birds that visit our feeders (please bring mixed seed, number seed, fat balls and peanuts!) or sit in the Wendy house and light the fire - maybe a tot of whisky to watch the sun go down?
