The SpaceWe have a private room with king bed (can be separated to form two single beds with advance notice) and you will have your own separate bath in our comfortable home near Lake Ontario beaches. Stay with us and enjoy our garden and quiet neighborhood, walk (about 3/4 mile) to the beach or the coffee shop (about 1 mile), or explore nearby Seabreeze Amusement Park in the summer. In the fall see the beautiful lakes and trees in nearby Durand Eastman Park. You can play golf in the summer or go sledding or cross-country skiing in winter there. Drive (or take the city bus) the short distance to downtown Rochester with its High Falls, historic buildings, and world-class museums like the George Eastman House (photography) and the Strong Museum (National Museum of Play) . And it is just a 1 or 1 1/2 hour drive to the Finger Lakes or Niagara Falls! We will fix you a light breakfast and you are welcome to use the kitchen, the rest of the house, (including the TV in the family room) and the free wi-fi. We will gladly direct you to some of the area's great restaurants (one of our favorites is the funky rib joint Dinosaur Barbeque, in an old downtown train station). We know you'll enjoy Rochester and its surroundings! We do have a bird (cockatiel), we hope you like animals! Guest AccessMake yourselves at home in the house, including the TV room, the kitchen, and the living room. And if the weather is warm you can enjoy the garden and terrace. Interaction with GuestsWe really enjoy visiting with our guests over breakfast. We are generally available, too, if you have questions. But we try to give our guests space to relax or explore on their own. The NeighborhoodWe are in a section of Rochester called Irondequoit. The houses were built in the '40's and '50's. The area is very walkable and safe! Getting AroundThe city bus stop is about 4 blocks away--an easy walk. There is plenty of parking on the street as well.

The SpaceWe love our house because of the great light, stained glass, built-ins, historic fixtures, and its unique history as a nationally syndicated demonstration house in 1928. It is a locally designated landmark in Irondequoit, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Guest AccessYou will have access to the whole house except the attic, two south bedrooms (to your left when you walk up the stairs), and basement storage room (to the left of the laundry room). Interaction with GuestsWe are always willing to give suggestions for things to do, see, and eat. We are an outgoing couple and may not always be at the house, so feel free to call or text us with any questions if we're not around! The NeighborhoodWe live in a tight-knit neighborhood that truly has a more urban feel than most suburbs. One of Rochester's spectacular Frederick Law Olmsted designed parks is only three blocks away and provides access to the Genesee River Gorge. Lake Ontario is about 2 miles north of our home with two large public parks and beaches (Ontario Beach State Park and Durand Eastman Park). We also cannot recommend our neighborhood restaurant, Atlas Eats, highly (URL HIDDEN) is truly fantastic, and is one of Rochester's premier restaurants among foodies. Getting AroundWe are within three blocks of three buslines. One busline stops right at the corner of our block. All buses travel to Rochester's downtown Transit Center.

Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire first floor. Basement access is only for the bathroom, washer, and dryer. If guests intend on using the refrigerator, please let me know ahead of time so I can make sure it is at the right temperature. I do not provide food, but guests are welcome to buy their own and cook it in the kitchen. Guests can also use the yard if they choose. I live on a corner with a large yard. Guests do not have access to the second floor. Interaction with GuestsIf guests have any questions about the area, please let me know. Less than 3 miles away: grocery/department/hardware stores. Getting AroundIt is best to use a car for getting around the area. If you don't have a car, no big deal, there are taxi services and the local bus service called RTS. I will do my best to keep any noise to a minimum by providing a fan if a guest would like one. Although the apartment is on the first floor, there are stairs to use when entering the house and to get down to the basement. I live on the second floor, so please keep that in mind while you are here. I will do my best at providing privacy, but I may need to share the basement with you in order to do laundry.

The SpaceMy place is "faux" isolated. It is located at the dead end of a suburban street where a few acres of undeveloped land remain; the property sits on one acre in the middle of West Irondequoit, NY. It's peaceful, quiet, and the local deer love to wander through in the morning and early evening for a snack. The home is a remodeled farmhouse. Walls were removed to make a "great room," huge 'picture windows' from a 1960s addition overlook the yard, and the downstairs bedrooms -- one with exterior door leading to a small patio -- sit next to a bath to die for (see photos). Perfect for a good soak and a glass of wine to watch the deer wander by. Guest AccessGuests will have the entire place to themselves. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a patio and a picnic table in the yard. Interaction with GuestsI live minutes away and will be available via cell-phone. Feel free to call me for fresh towels, advice about the area, or any other needs/questions that you have; or invite me to come sit a spell in your new home away from home and chat about your trip and other mutual interests. If I am out of town, my sister Dale will be your host. The NeighborhoodMy home sits in the middle of a suburban neighborhood, which is very walkable. Shopping, bars and restaurants, and a local school with playground are all within walking distance or a three to four minute ride. There is a large hospital complex five minutes away by car, and bus service is available at the end of the street (about a five minute walk). Getting AroundThere is plenty of parking available at the house. Also, public transportation is a short five minutes away. Other Things to NoteIrondequoit, NY, is one of Rochester's oldest suburbs. It sits between Lake Ontario and the city proper -- the city line is literally three minutes from the house, and it offers an amazing array of things to do: harbor, river, boat rides, amusement park, zoo, library, golf course, county park (picnic areas, golf course and challenging hiking trails), bars, restaurants, coffee shops, malls, and the wonderful new I-Square complex, complete with roof garden, (URL HIDDEN)
