The SpaceFully private space in a private house. It's well located in an awesome safe & diverse neighborhood; within public transport to most of the city. There's one full bed (sleeps 2), one couch (sleeps 1), and top bunk twin bed (sleeps 1), bottom bunk full bed (sleeps 2), and a fold out cot (sleeps 1). The space is great for 2-3 people, 4+ can fit but not recommended. This is a small apt on the 1st floor of a larger property. Guest Access-There are facilities to make food (stove is on 2nd floor common area), supermarket is right across the street; eat healthier on a budget. -Fast wifi Internet included. TV is a Roku internet TV setup [Netflix movies]. -Late check-in is no problem. Early check-in or late check-out must be arranged ahead of time and may involve added fee. Our check in and out process is very easy and efficient. Parking is on the street only and free (takes some searching), do not block driveway ever. Interaction with GuestsWe mostly stay out of the way. We will address any issues or concerns, please contact us promptly with specifics. We expect a basic level of self sufficiency on the part of the guests -- you get to experience NY just like the locals. There's no concierge, do your own laundry and get your own personal items from shops across the street. The NeighborhoodSuperb neighborhood, walking distance to public transportation. Very close proximity to supermarket, restaurants, laundromat - everything you need is factually within 2min walk. Getting Around[1] 7 train to 82 or 90st and walk (simple), or, [2] EFGR to 74st then bus via Q32/33 or Q49 to northern blvd (no walk, faster). Overall its great access via public transport and a walking community. LGA airport is reachable by Q33 bus (cheap) or local taxi (inexpensive ~$10). Access to midtown Manhattan is very good when you familiarize the routes. Other Things to Note-Co-host and family is on premise at all times. If I'm traveling, the co-host organize check-in/out details. We are very responsive and responsible hosts. -This is not a hotel, there are many very fine full service hotels in town if you need hotel amenities. -Regarding cleanliness, we offer re-cleaning service within 24hrs of check-in if there's reason to believe the most recent service was less than standard. -We replaced one of the couches with a twin floor mattress (stored in closet). We also replaced the fridge with a smaller one, you can also use the large fridge on the 2nd floor if needed. -The cooking stove is outside the apt on the 2nd floor; microwave/fridge/sink etc is in the apt.

The SpaceThere's free fast wifi; shared access to basic shower and kitchen. This is a low budget/low quality place; works great for students or frugal travelers needing a longer stay period on a very tight budget. The picture show two rooms, you'll get whichever one is available. We self-assess this listing on a 1-5 scale, the room quality is 3/5, kitchen/bath shared area is like 1.5/5, general area/transportation is 4/5. Guest AccessRoom is private, kitchen/bath is shared. My grandma is always around, nice lady but not agile enough in her age to upkeep the cleaning of common areas. You can keep your food budget reasonable, there's a supermarket and many types of restaurants close by. Interaction with GuestsMostly my relatives on premise. We address issues promptly on request, otherwise you're mostly on your own. Mainly we're looking for low hassle guests, we are selective on guests we book because this is a family residence. Please briefly describe who you are and your general purpose for the stay in your booking inquiries, thank you. The NeighborhoodGreat neighborhood, everything you need for daily life is across the street, easily accessible to get to manhattan and other parts of the city. Getting Around7 train, walk to 82 or 90st station on roosevelt ave [simple directions route, more walk]. [most efficient less walk route] EF is further out, but actually quicker overall commute to Manhattan if you take bus at 82st and 34ave then EF train, on the way back take Q49 at 74st station to 89st and northern blvd. Other Things to NoteCheap place in an expensive city, its described as low budget, low quality accommodations, expect such and you'll have a great stay. If you need hotel services this is not the right space for you. It's cheap because its in the bsmt and there's a roach issue in the kitchen (mostly contained) and periodic mechanical noise.

The SpaceLarge apartment with separate kitchen, dining room, living room, and sunny office alcove. It's a huge space by NYC standards. The bedroom has a king-size bed with memory foam mattress. It also has blackout curtains, so it's nice and dark. There is a window air conditioner in the bedroom. A third person can sleep on a twin Aerobed air mattress that can fit in the bedroom, office or living room. I also have a large board game collection if you need a break from touring the city. Guest AccessI provide sheets & towels, shampoo, conditioner and soap. The Wi-Fi is reliable. There is a printer connected to the router that you can use if it works with your computer. There is an iron & ironing board. Laundry in the basement. Well-equipped kitchen (all of the spices, pans, utensils and appliances you need). No microwave or coffee maker but it's easy to heat things up in the toaster oven or on the stove top. Interaction with GuestsIf the timing works out, I'll meet you personally to give you the key and show you the apartment. I'm available throughout your stay to answer questions and offer tips. I live here and only rent out the apartment when I'm traveling. Renting out apartments on Airbnb when no one actually lives there takes affordable housing away from local residents. By choosing to book only places where people actually live, you will avoid contributing to average New Yorkers being priced out of their apartments. The NeighborhoodLonely Planet named Queens as its #1 travel destination for 2015. Go to their website to download the Queens chapter for free. So many tourists only see Manhattan and maybe parts of Brooklyn. Stay here to get a fuller picture of life in NYC. Jackson Heights is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the city. It includes large South Asian, South American, and Russian populations. It's next to the large Asian American neighborhoods in Elmhurst and Woodside. It's also Queens' LGBT neighborhood and has a half-dozen gay bars. The neighborhood is safe. It is fine to come home late at night. Getting AroundIt's very easy to get to Manhattan. (I used to do it everyday!) It's 30 min total (including walking to the subway) to Times Square & Central Park. 45 min total to lower Manhattan. 1 hour to Brooklyn. Easy access to public transportation, 11 min walk to E/F/M/R subway trains at Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Ave. station; 4 min walk to the 82nd St. 7 train. Q32 & Q33 buses stop a block away and take you to and from the main subway station if you don't want to walk. The Q70 bus goes express from LaGuardia Airport to the Jackson Heights 74th St. station, and JFK is easy too, take the AirTrain to the E or use a car service for $32 plus tip. For fun you can also get to Manhattan by taking the F train to Roosevelt Island and hopping on to the aerial tram (featured in Spider-Man) that goes over the East River to Manhattan. The 7 train is elevated, which makes a nice sightseeing ride. If driving, there is a garage right nearby that is $21/day ($17 for 12 hours). However, all of my guests so far have managed to find free street parking. Other Things to NoteThe neighbors are quiet. The apartment has typical urban apartment sounds of traffic like buses, sirens, occasional cars playing Latin music, horns and people on the street, mainly when the windows are open. The radiators make radiator sounds in the winter. You'll probably get used to it or there are earplugs.

The SpaceFree wifi and tv in the living room. The kitchen has plenty of marble counter space if you're in the mood to do some cooking (feel free to use any of my spices, I have a ton!). The bedroom is super spacious with a full size bed, and the living room has a sofa couch that also turns in full size bed. Only when giving you the keys and when getting them back. However if you have any questions about the apartment or just about the city in general you can always contact me! This is a culturally diverse neighborhood, with a wide range of restaurants such as Colombian, Peruvian, Ecuadorean, Tibetan and Indian! It also has some great bars and an awesome farmers market on Sunday's. Along 82nd street there are all types of stores to do a little shopping, and Roosevelt ave is a bustling area where you can always grab some delicious late night tacos from one of the many food trucks. The apartment is just a couple of blocks away from the Q32, Q33 & Q49 bussed. Also just a few more minutes away from the 7/E/F/M/R trains. With so many options you can get to just about every part of Manhattan quickly! In addition, the apartment is between two supermarkets, each about two blocks away. There's a rite aid one block away and a laundromat just around the corner. And a little Colombian bakery one block away that makes a mean cup of coffee and delicious pastries in the morning :) Guest AccessFree wifi and tv in the living room.
