The SpaceJust 5 miles to Folly Beach or to Historic Downtown Charleston. I offer a clean & comfortable space in my dog friendly home. Rather you are here on business or pleasure you will feel welcome and invited in a low key home away from home. I have two comfortable guest rooms. One sleeps two the other sleeps one. Unless there are 3 guests traveling together, I usually only rent one room at a time. Guests have access to their own BA across the hall as well as kitchen and living areas, and the back yard patio including the grill. After spending years in the hospitality industry, I love to entertain and even cook for my guest upon occasion. With that being said, it is my number one priority to respect my guest's privacy and be respectful of their time and personal space. I'm very friendly and approachable and happy to engage as little or as much as desired to make my guest stay comfortable. The neighborhood conveniently located 5 miles to the beach and 5 miles to Downtown, with plenty of room to park. I may be present during your stay, but if not, I am available if you need me. It is completely up to my guests as to our interaction...I won't be offended if you don't want to chat chat and certainly wilI be happy to discuss our local scene should you wish to. Also, I do have a keen sense of knowing when guests need their privacy. ;-) The NeighborhoodConvenient to EVERYTHING, Riverland Terrace is one of the most eclectic and beautiful neighborhoods in the Charleston area. Historic beauty, surrounded by water on two sides, fantastic architecture - and the grand oaks are truly stunning! Within walking distance, the neighborhood boasts one of Charleston's most popular music venues, The Pour House, as well as The Terrace Theater, Charleston's only independent movie theater. Fantastic food and drink are just a short walk away at Crust Woodfire Pizza, The Lot, How Art Thou Jazz Cafe & Wine Bar, Maybank Public House and Zia Taqueria. On Sundays, (mid-March through mid-December), there is a fantastic Farmers Market behind The Pour House (across the street from previously mentioned restaurants) from 11 am - 3 pm, which features some of Charleston's favorite goods, produce & food trucks! Getting AroundCharleston Area Transit Authority (CARTA) has two stops just 2 blocks from my home. Their routes and schedules can be found online - my neighborhood is on Route 31. If you plan to get around town via public transportation, please check the bus schedule BEFORE you book. Otherwise, Uber or taxis are quite affordable ($8-$12 to downtown during non-event dates) ways to get where you want to go. Other Things to NoteAllergy sufferers, UNITE!! My home is very clean and well kept. I use only hypo-allergenic detergents and organic fabric softeners to clean sheets, towels, etc. I do not have pets and have a strict no pets rule. An HEPA air filter can be provided in your room, upon request, for no extra fee. This home is very liberal & LBGT friendly! No judgement here! I embrace every lifestyle imaginable! The SpaceA hotel room won't give you the insight into Charleston culture that you'll get in this beautiful home in West Ashley. The room has a 42" Smart TV with cable, netflix, and Amazon on-demand. A rolling table slides above the bed for eating breakfast or doing some writing in bed. The home is beautiful decorated and fully furnished. The kitchen is well equipped, and the house counts with a deck with grill. Wireless high speed internet available. Street Parking available. The house has 3 bedrooms. This listing is for the brown bedroom shown in the pictures. Check out my other listings for the blue and green rooms. Interaction with GuestsI travel a lot, but if I'm home you can expect to share some great conversations and hopefully share a mean if the time allows. Breakfast is generally not included, but if I'm home and we're up at the same time, you're always invited to our table. The NeighborhoodLocated right behind the West Ashley Greenway which is perfect for running and biking, this neighborhood is safe and quite without being boring. There is a grocery store, bar, and some restaurants in walking distance, and lively bar scene only 5 minutes by car. Getting AroundA bus takes you downtown from the stop located 1/2 mile from the house, however I recommend having a car if you stay outside downtown Charleston. The drive downtown is about 12 minutes. We're also only 15 minutes from the airport.

The SpaceIt's likely the best and most central location. Tucked away and seems like it's out In the country but just a skip over the bridge and you are down town or a short ride to the beach. It's also around the corner from the Indy movie theater the Terrace and best music venue in town - the pour house, tex mex spot Zia Taqueria has the best margaritas ever!! Walk to drug store and grocery store , Muddy Waters coffee etc. Guest AccessAmenities. Washer, dryer, wifi, cool cats, old guitar (If my friend Kenny gives it back to me), fridge use, kitchen, porch. I have an old school percolater coffee maker. Interaction with GuestsMy interaction is As convenient for both of us. Some nights, I would love to hang out and make dinner or explore the city. Sometimes when you live in a place you never see the sights! Other nights I 'm in n out the door all day. The NeighborhoodNeighborhood: best kept secret. 13 town houses on a dead end street. The lake in back makes it seems far out of the city. Lots of birds pelicans turtles lizards dragonflies and even hawks / herons occasionally. Getting AroundTransportation. the bus CARTA is supposedly nearby but most people will need a car. Busses are not the most reliable. A cab is pricey but better. Uber is like the Air BNB of taxis and we have Uber here (for now). Ideally one should have a car in Charleston unless you plan to stay downtown and move about downtown. The busses dont even go to the Beach. Parking downtown is easy to find. Metered and garages. Parking on Folly beach - Make SURE that ALL 4 TIRES ARE OFF PAVEMENT and make sure you park in the direction of traffic.. cryptic rules that you will be ticketed over!! Other Things to NoteI may need to arrange to leave a key for you if Im at work when you arrive. The bedroom is upstairs at the front of the house, and bathroom is right near the front door. Please park in a spot close to the road. My elderly neighbors have claimed the 4 spots close to the building. Thanks !

The SpaceThe bedroom is large, with a full bath, as well as a spacious closet with built-in shelving. There is a Full sized bed. It fits one person comfortably and two people max. There is a big window which gets lovely sunshine in the morning. Linens are supplied. We have a fireplace and a big backyard with a two-level deck. The yard is fenced in, but looks over a pond that is visited by a variety of birds. The neighborhood is fairly quiet and it is not unusual to hear peep frogs at night during the summer months. Guest AccessThe entire house, cable/wifi, washer and dryer. Interaction with GuestsMy boyfriend and I work fairly normal hours, so we will not be around during the day. We spend the weekends closer to home, unless the farmer's market is in season. The NeighborhoodThis neighborhood has the feeling of being off the beaten path while still being accessible to downtown, the beach and great restaurants. A short walk down the road brings you to the golf course, which has a nice walking/running path. We're a five minute drive (or you could bike) from local hot spots such as the Pour House and the Terrace Theater, as well as a handful of good restaurants. Downtown and Folly Beach are a 15-minute drive and there is also a county park down the road. From Spring to late Fall there is a farmer's market on Sundays behind the Pour House that features local farmers, food trucks and artisans. Getting AroundThe bus stops outside the neighborhood and runs from downtown to Folly beach. It is highly recommended that guests rent or use their own car - this is the best way to get around Charleston unless you live downtown. Unfortunately, the city does not have very good public transportation. Other Things to NoteGuests should plan to either rent a car for their stay or have access to one. There is free on-street parking outside the house.

Quiet neighborhood within walking distance of restaurants, shops, music venue, theater. Beautiful oak lined avenues, great for walking/jogging/biking. Bikes avail. to use. Near the famous Angel Oak, the oldest and largest tree East of the Mississippi. Breakfast foods available: Muffins, juice, coffee, tea, milk, help yourself. Linens, towels, soap, shampoo, tp are included. Fabulous sightseeing with gorgeous preserved architecture, gardens, tours, carriage rides, boat trips to Ft. Sumter, parks, Farmer's Market, world class shopping and restaurants to suit every taste. Many many activities from theater, to concerts, to jazz and comedy clubs plus visual art in parks and galleries to enjoy. A week is hardly enough to time to see the city. Folly Beach is 15 min. away and has awesome beaches, restaurants, bars, kayak trips, stand up paddling, surfing, dolphin watching, fishing pier, more. Also nearby are Magnolia and Middleton Plantations-take a half day to enjoy each. Your hostess was born in Charleston so has lots of recommendations and help. Bus service is available, but not so convenient. There is a play park close by and boat landing two blocks away. Hope to see you soon! NO smoking on property, please. Please ck. out my reviews on my other room rentals! No perfumes or scented products especially hairspray in home due to asthma/allergies. A rental car is nice but Uber is super convenient. Guest AccessYou have access to living/dining rooms, kitchen and breakfast foods, cereal, muffins, fruit, tea/coffee. The deck is a great place to sit with a glass of wine or morning Joe... Hi speed wifi, cable tv in room, central hvac. Bikes on porch to use. Book of Crystal's Favorite things to see and do in Charleston. Brochures/maps/coupons/etc. Feel free to use the washer and dryer. Back yard is fully fenced if you bring your dog.. Interaction with GuestsI love to hang out with my guests when I am in town if they feel like it. I travel often and my brother is available to assist in anyway as though I am there. We have a small dog, Ivy Rose. We are a phone call away if not at home if you need anything at all. The NeighborhoodThis is the oldest, prettiest (in my opinion) neighborhood on James Island. There are ancient oaks lining every street. Its surrounded on 3 sides by salt marsh, creeks, river and Intercoastal Waterway which we see from the deck. I'm two blocks from restaurants/theater/bars/music venue/boat landing/park. We have Sun. afternoon farmers market in neighborhood (not during winter). Friendly, safe, quiet. AND ONLY 10 to 12 MIN. To DOWNTOWN!! And 15 min. to the beach unless its a weekend morning, can take longer. Getting AroundGreat neighborhood for walking for fun or exercise or to shops, restaurants, music venues. There is bus service to downtown. Or Uber is very reasonable. Or taxis. Most guests rent a car. It is not possible to walk to the historic district due to bridges over water. I provide airport transportation with notice for $35 each way and downtown for $15. I am not always available for that. Bikes in the garage for your convenience. Other Things to NotePLEASE CALL AN HOUR OR TWO BEFORE ARRIVING! Looking forward to having you! Plenty of parking, but don't block anyone in. No small children 2 and under please. Be sure to look at the height of the queen bed as it does require 4 or 5 steps and some folks have trouble accessing if they have physical challenges.

The SpaceThis is a cool, clean, modern detached garage apartment in Charleston's coolest neighborhood- Avondale. Avondale has been named coolest neighborhood 3 years running by Charleston City Paper, and it's easy to see why. Walk or bike to over a dozen pubs, restaurants, shops, salons, yoga studios, etc... including Pearlz, Al di la, Triangle, The Glass Onion, Mex 1, Gene's Haufbrau, Voodoo, and The Roost, (to name a few) all just a block or so away from the apartment. We are only 3 miles to the heart of historic downtown Charleston, and only 20 minutes to Folly, Sullivan's or Isle of Palms. We are also only a few blocks from the West Ashley greenway- a local biking/walking/running path that cuts through the city. It's a great way to get your exercise in, or to get over to South Windemere shopping center to do a little eating at Med Bistro or shopping at Half Moon Outfitters. The apartment is a true studio- with no walls separating living areas, but it's charming and clean, and you can't beat the location. Fully equipped kitchen as well. This IS NOT downtown Charleston- it is just over the drawbridge from the peninsula. You will have access to beach chairs, a beach Umbrella and a cooler if you would like. Anything else, just ask and we will try to accommodate ! We try to meet all guests face to face upon check in if possible, but occasionally leave a key under the mat if we aren't going to be around. Other than that- we don't interact with guests much unless we see each other coming and going in the driveway. Feel free to approach us with questions, but we understand how guests prefer privacy on vacation, and we try to respect this. A car is the best way to get downtown- even though it's only a few miles a way there is no bike lane on the Ashley River bridge- so unless you are an experienced bike rider - I would drive- but once you are downtown, walking or biking is the best way to see everything. Closer to home, here in Avondale, almost everything is within walking or biking distance, and it's easy to get around that way. An uber ride downtown is $8-$10.Taxis are fairly inexpensive as well, and there is a city bus that stops a block away, but Charleston isn't known for its public transit, so I can't vouch for it. There are also water taxis that can take you to Mount Pleasant and back! There is a tall set of stairs leading up to the apartment and the shower is pretty small. Guest AccessYou will have access to beach chairs, a beach Umbrella and a cooler if you would like. Anything else, just ask and we will try to accommodate ! The NeighborhoodAvondale is a trendy community just outside the Charleston peninsula- about 3 miles to the heart of the Historic District. It is comprised of several modest but eclectic neighborhoods surrounding a thriving bar & restaurant scene. This is not a tourist spot so you will likely be the only tourists there! Walk to dinner, breakfast, yoga, groceries, thrift stores- you name it. Getting AroundA car is the best way to get downtown- even though it's only a few miles a way there is no bike lane on the Ashley River bridge- so unless you are an experienced bike rider - I would drive- but once you are downtown, walking or biking is the best way to see everything. We did just get a dedicated wifi just for the apartment- and at last check it was running at lightning speed. You can also unplug from the wireless router and plug straight into your laptop if you need a faster, ground connection.

Getting AroundNo public transporation in Charleston. We live on an island adjacent to the city of Charleston. We leave cab company phone numbers for your use. We suggest that if you bring bicycles, drive and then ride. Charleston does have bike lanes , but not in the neighborhoods. Other Things to NoteA consideration when flying in. The SpaceThe Hideway is a tiny freestanding building in the corner of the garden. It evolved from an art studio into a well accommodated guest house for two guests. It had a queen bed, 1/2 bath and outdoor shower. It is surrounded by wonderful trees in a lovely neighborhood. Next door is my other listing "Live Tiny Too!. Locally made, organic cotton top Queen size bed, outfitted with cotton sheets, comfortably sleeps two adults (who really like each other). A private 1/2 bath is connected to the bedroom and a shared outdoor shower is a few steps away from the entry door. The outdoor shower has hot and cold water and is surrounded by high walls made of wood panels. The mild Charleston weather enables outdoor bathing 95% of the year! And it has a great view of the surrounding trees and wildlife. The Hideway is an environmentally friendly and chemical free place. Please take the time to read through the entire description of this unique space (all the way down to the bottom of the "House Rules" tab) before requesting to book it. The buildings are joined by a shared deck space and garden. Relax on the outdoor sofa and observe the wildlife. There are a lot of birds, squirrels, toads, bugs, and assorted reptiles. I live and work in the front house. Guests here are quiet and on their own. If I am not here building or gardening, I will probably be somewhere close by. Just text me or knock on my door, if you need anything. Riverland Terrace has majestic Live Oak trees. It is a great neighborhood for bike riding, walking, and sitting by the water. Within walking distance is a handful of coffee shops (Muddy Waters is my favorite), restaurants (Crust, Zia, the Lot, Maybank Public House, Athens), a cool independent movie theater (The Terrace Theater) and a music venue (The Pour House). Downtown Charleston is just 5 miles away and Folly beach is a short drive down a scenic road. Honestly Charleston is easiest to get around by car. Taxis and Uber are probably easier to use than the bus (which does go through my neighborhood, but will drop you off a mile down the road for a leisurely stroll home. :) There is extra parking here in the front along the road and down the street. Your room is sunny, with a 4' x 4' skylight, lots of windows and a glass door. For sleeping in you may want to bring an eye mask. A wall unit air conditioner, fan, space heater, and operable windows with screens provide climate control. Outside, strings of lights and tiki torches with citronella oil light the deck area at night. Bug repellant is provided in a "yard kit" for the summer months, but you might want to bring your own favorite kind. Guest AccessThe buildings are joined by a shared deck space and garden. Relax on the outdoor sofa and observe the wildlife. There are a lot of birds, squirrels, toads, bugs, and assorted reptiles. I have a super sweet outdoor cat named Rosalita. Interaction with GuestsI live and work in the front house. Guests here are quiet and on their own. If I am not here building or gardening, I will probably be somewhere close by. Just text me if you need anything. The NeighborhoodRiverland Terrace has majestic Live Oak trees. It is a great neighborhood for bike riding, walking, and sitting by the water. Within walking distance is a handful of coffee shops (Muddy Waters is my favorite), restaurants (Crust, Zia, the Lot, Athens), a cool independent movie theater (The Terrace Theater) and a music venues (The Pour House and How Art Thou). Downtown Charleston is just 5 miles away and Folly beach is a short drive down a scenic road. Turn right out of the neighborhood and you will be on the road to Johns Island and Kiawah, where there are lots of restaurant(The Fat Hen, Senachi) and places to explore(The Angel Oak tree, Wadmalaw tea plantation and U-pick farms). Getting AroundI always thought Charleston was easiest to get around by car. But after talking with a lot of guests I think Uber is a a better way to go. And you don't have to deal with the hassle of parking! Lastly, there is a bus that does go through my neighborhood, but will drop you off a mile down the road for a leisurely stroll home. :) Of you do choose to drive here, there is parking here out front. I have just acquired two beach cruisers you are welcome to use around the neighborhood. Don a big hat and no one will know you aren't a local. :) Other Things to NoteYour room is sunny, with a 4' x 4' skylight, lots of windows and a glass door. For sleeping in you may want to bring an eye mask. A wall unit air conditioner, fan, and operable windows with screens provide climate control. Outside, strings of lights and tiki torches with citronella oil light the deck area at night. Bug repellant is provided in a "yard kit", but you might want to bring your favorite kind.
