The SpaceOn a country road just outside of Sonora, California sits a home on one-acre known as Millie's Farm. A sweet Welsh Corgi named Turtle lives here along with 2 llamas, 6 hens (no roosters) and 2 barn cats. My home is cozy and convenient to all locations in the Gold Country and Yosemite as well as wineries with summer concerts! Highway 49, the main thoroughfare throughout the historic region, is just 1/2 mile away making it convenient for wine tasting in Calaveras County. Yosemite is just a little over an hour's drive to the south and Lake Tahoe is about two hours to the northeast. The historic Gold Rush towns of Jamestown, Columbia and Sonora are just moments away with antique stores, restaurants and wine tasting. Each room has a queen bed and the guest bathroom is just outside the bedroom doors. If you are interested in booking both rooms, please contact me for special pricing. There is plenty of parking on the property and free WiFi is provided. As a former coffeehouse owner, I understand how to make people feel at home. In summer, the garden is in full bloom and organic vegetables are growing on the property. A barbecue and picnic table are available in the garden if you feel like cooking your own meal. After a day of sightseeing or shopping, come back and leisurely sip a glass of wine on the front porch and watch the sun take its final rest for the day. I look forward to welcoming you to my home and my little farm. Guest AccessKitchen, living room, garden Interaction with GuestsI prefer that my guests determine how much they would like to interact with me. Morning coffee and evening wine are always shared. The NeighborhoodThis is definitely country living but only minutes away from Jamestown, Sonora or Angels Camp. Getting AroundNearby busses to Yosemite and other areas of Tuolumne & Calaveras Counties Other Things to NoteMost guests wish they had more time to spend once they arrive. The Sierra Foothills offer many relaxing and enjoyable opportunities so consider staying more than one night if your travel plans allow. You'll find a binder in your room with detailed information about my home as well as some menus and recommendations for place to eat.

Murphys is a charming village, full of quaint shops, top-notch wineries and appealing restaurants. It's also thick with historical significance, a tangible reminder of the California Gold Rush. Yet, there's so much about Murphys that feels utterly contemporary, from its little boutiques to its Food Network-famed cupcake shop. Getting AroundMurphys Taxi can pick you up and return you from town (1.5 miles). Transportation happily provided by host when convenient. We discourage guests traveling by bicycle. Other Things to NoteWelcome! We hope you enjoy your stay; we'll do everything possible to make your visit perfect. When you arrive, you may go directly through the unlocked downstairs red door to your private "cottage." Wifi password: woods2164 Unless you specify a different time to Amanda, she will leave your breakfast on the table at your front door at 8am. We never enter the unit uninvited during your stay, so please turn off the electric appliances as you exit daily. Also on the desk, next to the guest book, you'll find a front door key - please leave this on the desk with the door unlocked at the end of your stay. Extra pillows and blankets are in the armoire. Our filtered water is from our delicious well, enjoy! We hope you'll share your experience in our guest book. Thank you for allowing us to host you. Please come again and again, and tell your friends! Your grateful hosts, Barbaranne and Amanda

The SpaceThis one bedroom unit is on the second floor of the Flanders Bldg. built in 1849. It was home for more than 40 years to Ping and Kamm Chan, who owned and operated the Kamm's Chinese Restaurant on the ground floor. Guest AccessA front entrance door from Main St., and a flight of stairs through narrow stairs, lead up to the unit. There is currently a lift chair, however, we plan to take this out to provide more space when going up the stairs. Interaction with GuestsOn the ground floor, the restaurant is operated by the owners, and operating hours are 11am to 8pm. Food may be ordered during these hours, and can be delivered to the unit, or at the restaurant. Other Things to NoteThe historic building's main entry from Main St., is a bit tight to maneuver, considering the building is 150 plus years old. However, the stairs is well lit, leading up to the unit on the second floor.

Don't hesitate to call for any reason. We want to make your stay as pleasent as possible. The NeighborhoodTo begin, step out the front door and immediately step back into the 1800's at the time where Jamestown was just evolving as, Tuolumne County's "Rocca Park" hosts one of the county's original jails just paces from our front door. The park itself features a newly refurbished gazebo, a playground, jungle gym and swings for the kids along with tables, benches and BBQ's for family picnics. During the late spring an summer months the park is host to "music in the park" on selected weekends, which you can enjoy from the house's front yard as it is only only steps away. Take a few more steps to Jamestown's Main Street and your in the middle of town. Stay here and you can catch the bus to Yosemite National Park. With trips twice a day, its so convenient you can't help but take advantage. Next door...Pete's Greek American Cuisine. Pete and his wife, Vaso are so nice, you won't want to miss their hospitality or their hearty portions. In either direction you'll find numerous antique and vintage furniture shops. Our favorite... the "Blue Sky Market." Also very convenient, Barendregt's Grocery Store. Just up the block, "The Willow" steakhouse and bar while just down the street, "The Jamestown Hotel" (restaurant and bar) "The National Hotel" restaurant and bar), The Gypsy Shack (bar) and across the Hwy 108, "The Rawhide" country saloon. Also within walking distance, several barber shops including; "Jamestown Hair Company" (located just behind the house). However, one of our favorite attractions is, "Stogies Gold Country Cigar Lounge." About 50 yards from the house, this cigar lounge features great music, great atmosphere, and a great selection of beer, wines, bourbons, whiskeys, scotches and of course cigars. Owned by a couple, Phil and Cindy, from our neck of the woods (The Central Coast) this is "a must visit location" for us, when we are in town. Are you a wine enthusiast? "The Inner Sanctum Cellars" is a fantastic winery with a tasting room so close to the house you can't help but enjoy yourself. Pete and Karen will take you on a tour of elaborately made wines while you enjoy great company and a beautiful venue. Also a local winery, rich in the traditional Italian culture and wine making skill, "Gianelli's" winery is another great location with a large selection to taste from and a beautiful venue. Getting AroundWhile we've mentioned so many great thing to do in town, we have yet to mention that only a 10 minute walk away you'll find Jamestown's own “Rail Town.” One of California’s most visited state parks and host to last remaining, in service steam engines, the most famous being, “Old number 3.” Used in over 100 Hollywood productions, the No. 3's film and television credits include, "High Noon," "The Virginian," "Back to the Future, III," "Unforgiven," "Bad Girls," "Petticoat Junction," "The Wild, Wild West," and "Little House on the Prairie." The SpaceCasita La Paz has a super plush double bed; organic tea bags, cups and an electric kettle; wifi; a private outdoor area; parking; natural light; A/C; drawers for your things; and great books to read. if you have more than 2 guests, snuggly families of 3-4 can share the bed or put a small crib or mattress next to it. we can also host 3-4 adults if you wish to pitch a tent pitched next to the Casita. some things to note: *breakfast is not included in that it is cooked for you, but you are more than welcome to join us if you're in the kitchen when we are making it, as well as to use any of the food in our refrigerator and cupboards. we also love sharing dinners with our guests. basically, our home is your home! *due to the rustic nature of living in the country, our driveway is a little more dusty during the summers. also, there may be some additional guests in the corners of the Casita (namely daddy-long-legs), even though we try to clean up their webs and shoo them outside as best we can. please know that they are totally harmless and never bite (they do, however, eat a regular diet of flies which is helpful in the hot summers). if you are averse to sharing the space with them, please let us know and we'll make sure to do an extra vacuuming before you arrive. thanks for understanding! Guest Accessplease enter our house through the front door (the sidewalk to the left of the Temple leads you there) OR the back porch door (to the right of the Temple); we reserve the Temple entrance for events and classes only. thank you! as Casita guests, you have access to: •the guest bathrooms in the main house (the 1/2 bath is off of the kitchen through the laundry room; the full bath with the shower is down the hallway past the living room); we leave a light on in the living room at night, so you can find your way around if you arrive late :-) •the house kitchen- any food in the cupboards/refrigerator (other than the “private” shelves) •breakfast, dinner or lunch! feel free to join us if you're here for any of these meals and we're cooking... or feel free to cook for yourselves. we're happy to share our food with you. •the gardens (please ask jakob or erin about harvesting) •the Temple (our yoga, meditation, class/workshop and music space) •washer and dryer (we also have a clothesline out back if you wish to use that- we prefer it ourselves) other amenities: •yoga mats, blankets, fitness ball and foam roller in The Temple •fresh garden produce from our permaculture garden and eggs from our happy chickens •you are more than welcome to join us for morning meditation and yoga (we don’t have a set time, but feel free to share the space with us and/or enjoy the Temple any time it's not being used for classes or events) •Winter, a wonderful yoga teacher in our community, offers private lessons to all guests at our Casita. if you are interested, please let us know and we will connect you with her so you can schedule your appointment •see our guidebook for information about local activities Interaction with Guestserin works from home and is usually available to support you during your stay; if she’s out (for the occasional errand or meeting) when you arrive, please make yourselves at home and feel free to text her with any questions. jakob is a local holistic doctor, but is home for lunch and in the evenings. when we’re here, you are more than welcome to join us for a shared meal (unless we’re on our “date night”… usually Friday or Saturday evenings). please do text erin about any of your needs or questions, though... i'm happy to help and respond quickly. thank you! The Neighborhoodthe Refuge is located in rolling pasture land dotted with huge oak trees and watched over by a magnificently big sky. during the day, you can hear neighboring cows and our chickens, as well as wild turkeys, hawks and other animal friends. at night, you can sometimes hear coyotes, but mostly the sounds of the breezes blowing through the poplars and eucalyptus. traffic is minimal, so walks down the road are absolutely lovely, especially early in the morning and around dinner time. and, of course, if you hop in your car, you are just minutes from historic Jamestown (antique-ing heaven!) and Sonora (a lovely downtown to explore), an hour’s drive to Mercer’s Caverns and Big Trees State Park, and about a 90-minute drive from Yosemite Valley. Getting Arounddriving is your easiest bet if you want to go to Sonora or any of the local tourist destinations, but biking is absolutely lovely with a great 10-mile loop from our front door and back through rolling hills. Tuolumne County Transit offers a regular bus schedule between Jamestown, Sonora and other local towns, as well as a bus service to Dodge Ridge Ski Resort on winter weekends. Golden State Cab is also a popular service in the area. Other Things to Notewe are deeply committed to living as light on the earth as possible, so our home is operated on solar power, we air-dry as much of our laundry as we can (so the towels may be a bit stiff-ish but very absorbent!), and we are working toward being a zero-waste/no plastics home (of course, knowing that you are traveling, we understand if you generate a bit of trash). we are working on adding other sustainable homestead features as we grow - it's a creative endeavor and a lot of fun. we are always happy to share our philosophy and very much enjoy rich conversations about these things and more with our guests. we also love our quiet time and are happy to give you your space to just be and explore on your own. our indoor/outdoor cat, Buster, is the one with the short tail and bobcat ears, and our outdoor cat, Chirp, recently adopted us. they are very friendly (Buster may scratch on the Casita door from time to time) but they will give you your space if you ask them to leave politely… after all, they’re cats. :-) lastly, please note that, because we are a working farm, garden soil may sometimes make its way into our kitchen and 1/2-bath areas (due to processing veggies and washing garden hands), but our home is otherwise very clean and welcoming… and you’re more than welcome to get your hands in the dirt - just ask one of us if you’d like to join us. for this reason, to keep our home as clean as possible, we also ask that everyone remove their shoes when they enter the house or Temple. thank you! p.s. please let us know how you think we can improve. we appreciate your feedback and do our best to incorporate it whenever possible. thank you for helping us grow! p.p.s. if you ever need to reach airbnb by phone, here are their numbers: (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).

Our large home in Riverside County was always open to friends and relatives who were visiting during the holidays. Because we love entertaining, we decided to open a business that would be both fulfilling and fun, one that would allow us to work together... and to be with people. While on a weekend trip, we had such a wonderful visit at a bed & breakfast inn, that we decided we wanted to own a B&B too! We began our search for the perfect location. We were looking for an established business, nothing too big nor too small... approximately 6-10 rooms. We wanted to find an historic site in a small, quaint town and a wholesome environment for our high-school daughter. Our search brought us to Jamestown California, where we fell in love with a beautiful Victorian home that was built during 1890's. This stately building was turned into a B&B 20 years ago, and was known as The Palm - in honor of the 100-year old palm tree in the front yard. We gave up our jobs in Southern California; Ken switched gears from his career in accounting and Anita gave up her supervisor position at an electronics company. We made the move to Jamestown in January 2005, becoming the third owners of The Palm Bed & Breakfast. We opened the doors to our first guests on February 25, 2005. One year later we personalized our business, changing the name of the inn to the "Victorian Gold Bed & Breakfast". We are relative new-comers ourselves, and everyday we are learning something new to love.
