The NeighborhoodThe Howqua Hills historic area was first discovered by the gold rush in the 1850s, and there are lots of remnnants of the old mining days. It is now a nature conservancy within the Mansfield State Forest with a variety of things to do and explore - swimming, horse riding, hiking, mountain biking, relaxing by the river, watching birds. Pure bliss. Getting AroundAccess to Schusters Lodge is via a gravel road (16km) from the turnoff at Merrijig, just outside Mansfield. Other Things to NoteThis is an eco-lodge, powered by the sun and nourished by the rain. There is no mobile network, but there is a landline for emergencies. The house is powered by solar panels and a 12v lighting system, which in turns powers the pump that feeds water into the house from a rainwater tank.

The SpaceGoughs Bay Lodge is a 4 bedroom home with double beds and bunks (all have electric blankets). It will comfortably sleep 10 people. Fully furnished, all you need to bring is your food, drink, linen and consumables, everything else is here. Guest Access18 minutes from Mansfield and 30 minutes from the gates at Mount Buller, it's all here waiting for you. Interaction with GuestsThe place will be all yours for the weekend. You may be visited by rabbits, King Parrots, Eastern Rosella's a Wombat, a few Kangaroos and if you are really lucky an Echidna. The NeighborhoodGoughs bay Lodge is nestled amongst a group of homes that do not get rented out and we are at the end of Goughs Bay that has the least traffic and the best views. Imagine sitting by the fire and looking a the lake, perhaps your family and friends are skiing or fishing on the water, or just out riding the bike. Perhaps their off for a day trip to Mount Buller. There is a great deck where you can have a BBQ and in the summer months you will probably spend a lot of time on the deck in the evening. However if you're looking for a place for a loud party, this is not your destination. Getting AroundWhile there is public transport to Mansfield, you will need a car to move the 18 minutes drive to Mansfield where there are buses to the mountain and the city. Other Things to NoteThere is a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, TV in every room as well reverse cycle air-conditioning in all bedrooms and the main living area. All beds in the bedrooms are fitted with electric blankets. Doonas and pillows for all beds.

Just being there, watching the Kangaroos and the wildlife and breathing the fresh mountain air, is an experience of a lifetime. If you want some action, the recreational opportunities within the property, and at your doorstep, offer something for everyone The house is architect designed to take full advantage of the magnificent position. Built from local stone the open plan design of 40+ squares offers an inviting living area whether it is for 2 people or 12. Massive recycled woolstore beams support the vaulted timber ceiling of the living area which features two lounge areas, a dining area seating up to twelve guests and a sunken TV viewing area around a huge stone fireplace, a popular place to reflect on the day and relax. Master bedroom has a full en-suite bathroom, a queen size bed, walk in robe & private balcony. Downstairs there are two large bedrooms with a queen size bed, king single bed and king trundle. The fourth bedroom upstairs has a bunk bed and also entry out to the upstairs balcony. The main bathroom downstairs has a wall to wall mirror, shower recess and toilet. However if you wanted to travel this way you would have to catch a Taxi to Goughs Bay about 20Km out of town. Other Things to NoteThe property is on Tank water so guests need to be aware of their water use. 2 Gas bottles are supplied on the property for BBQ and Gas Light. Sometimes these bottles are empty. If this happens to you please take the Gas bottle to the Goughs Bay General Store down just down the road and get the owners (Sue and Eric) to charge the new gas bottle to Paulas account. NB: Mobile phone access is limited to Telstra ONLY in this area and reception is best from the front of the house.

Whether you want to enjoy a day snow skiing, fish Lake Eildon or the Delatite River, launch your boat at Goughs Bay free boat ramps, ride your dirt bike, ride your horse or simply kick back and relax, the high country is both beautiful and varied. Nestled on an acre of magnificent landscaped gardens with meandering garden paths and lots of seating area you can explore its nooks and crannies or enjoy the magnificent expansive lake views from your own private deck while enjoying a glass of your favourite beverage. Ngurra is the ultimate country home. Located 15 minutes from Mansfield, 2 minutes from Goughs Bay township (which offers free public boat ramps) and 35 minutes from the entrance to Mt Buller Alpine national park there is plenty to keep you entertained all your round. Our delightful four bedroom, two bathroom home can sleep 9 adults comfortably (KB,QB, 2S, 1 bunk room - double with single on top). We use only the finest goose down doonas to keep you snug and in addition to a wonderful wood fire, all our rooms have their own individual heating. The house is also equipped with 3 reverse cycle air conditioning units. Please note Ngurra accommodates 9 guests, this includes children. We have a fully equipped kitchen, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and miele oven. All basics and lined are provided. There is also a full size BBQ for your enjoyment and a state-of-the art Asko drying cabinet for drying snow ski equipment in the winter months. The house also features a 42" plasma TV and a Wii console -just bring your favourite games! The house boasts 3 decks: one front deck, one rear deck and a private deck accessed directly from the upstairs master bedroom so you can enjoy Al fresco dining both in the morning and in the afternoon. In the warmer months small pets may be accommodated on request. Although they must be kept outdoors in the fenced rear yard.
