The SpaceOur 2300 sq ft mountain home on 2 wooded acres is special to us. It is our vacation home that we get to share with others. The beauty from all decks and windows of the home are breath taking and surreal - rock outcroppings, snow-capped mountains, beautiful forested valleys. At night, the dark night sky is uninterrupted by light pollution and views of the Milky Way and distant galaxies are incredible! Hundreds of hiking trails are just outside your doorstep or a short drive. In winter, we ski Breckenridge, just 39 miles away. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire home. Three living areas including a loft and newly finished first floor, as well as the main living area with fireplace. Interaction with GuestsWe are available by cell phone or email to answer questions or to help our guests during waking hours. The NeighborhoodWe love the rural atmosphere of Indian Mountain. It is a 2 hour drive from Denver or Colorado Springs, yet 100 years back in time. People are friendly and have an old western frontier demeanor about them and are willing to help others. Getting AroundCar required. In winter, all wheel drive or 4WD vehicles recommended.

The SpaceThis space is truly unique, built in 1999 it's a D style log cabin (flat on the inside and rounded on the outside like the letter D), 18 foot cathedral ceilings, unique door handles, tongue & groove pine throughout the majority of the cabin, Nest smart thermostat, Schlage smartlock, flatscreen TV w/Media server for streaming 500+ different movies and TV shows, Wii, Playstation 3, a 900 foot deep private well provides delicious, 100% contaminant free water year round. The kitchen sink has a triple filtration system built in as well for those that like crystal clear water vs. Earth's naturally turbid water. Indian Mountain has several hundred acres for recreation including a private 18 hole frisbee/disc golf course, 9 hole brush golf course, horseshoe pit, hiking trails and much more. Dozens of items and activities to do have been provided such as: -media server (500+ movies & TV Shows to stream locally) -board games -PS3 & Wii -discs for frisbee golf -normal frisbees including one that lights up for playing at dusk -cornhole set -badminton set -beer pong (for playing on the deck or grass) -playing cards & professional clay poker chips for 8+ people -chess -etc. As it is a modern cabin it has forced air but for ambiance there is also a standalone gas fireplace that can heat the entire cabin even if the power were to go out! Guest AccessYou'll have access to the entire cabin, before your stay I'll ask you for a 4 digit pin code and that will get you into the cabin via the Schlage touchscreen smart lock! There is space provided all over the house for guests to put their things (kitchen shelving, bathroom, bedroom closets, refrigerator, etc.). In the winter I can preheat the cabin for you via the Nest smart thermostat. I am very flexible on check in/check out times if there are no guests leaving the day you arrive or checking in the same day you leave. Otherwise the times are still quite reasonable, Check Out time of 11am and Check In time of 2pm (several hours are needed to make sure the place is clean for everyone). Interaction with GuestsE-Mail: 24/7 Phone/Text: 9AM-10PM Mountain Time The NeighborhoodLocated just 20 miles southeast of Fairplay in a subdivision named Indian Mountain. All roads relate to Native American history in one form or another (Arrowhead, Ute, Warrior, Sioux, Chief Trail, etc.). Getting AroundDriving in will be your only option, there are 9 miles of county road that are pretty easy to average 45 mph on. The county handles all maintenance and snow removal of all roads all the way up to the driveway so most every car will be able to handle the roads to the cabin year round. Other Things to NoteAll normal household appliances are on hand -Refrigerator -Stove/Oven -Microwave -Coffee Maker -French Press -Toaster -Crock Pot -Hair Dryer -TV -Space Heater (In master bedroom - If only one bedroom is being used it's more efficient to just heat that room overnight) The Internet is Satellite based, the first 12GB of data of the month run at 12Mbps which is the fastest possible in the area, after 12GB the speed is throttled depending on how many people are on the network from 1-5Mbps. So I wouldn't recommend streaming a bunch as the data will be eaten up very quickly. For that reason there are 500+ movies & TV shows available to stream locally via a Media Server, all instructions are in the Cabin Guide PDF you'll receive on reservation acceptance.

As Colorado natives, we have spent a lot of time in South Park with friends and family while we were growing up, we love living here now. We like the remoteness, the quiet, the dark, (yes, for some, it can be a little unnerving) the wildlife, the fishing, the surrounding wilderness adventures and of course, the clean crisp high altitude mountain air (some of the cleanest air in the United States). For the most part, neighbors are friendly and helpful. South Park, Colorado is a highland prairie inside the bowl framed by the Rocky Mountains' Mosquito and Park Mountain Ranges at roughly 10,000 ft in rise inside focal Colorado. It includes 1,000 square miles around the headwaters of the South Platte River in Park County roughly 60 miles southwest of Denver. South Park is the biggest and southernmost of three also named high height bowls in the Front Range of Colorado, the others being North Park and Middle Park. The biggest town in the bowl is Fairplay at the far north edge of the South Park valley. Other towns in South Park include Como and Jefferson, Colorado. Most aren't aware that there really IS a place called 'South Park' in Colorado being one of the more remote and beautiful locations to visit in Colorado. Fishing licenses are available from Prathers Market in Fairplay, CO. Getting AroundWith good driving conditions: Denver - 77 Miles 1 hr 20 min +/- Colorado Springs - 75 Miles 1 hr 45 min +/- Stagestop Store & Saloon 3 miles - 5 min +/- 10 - 27 miles from gasoline/diesel and grocery Depending on the time of season a 4 wheel drive capable vehicle may be necessary and appreciated. The elevation is just under 10,000 feet above sea level. Hydration and clothing layers are very important, even in July. Hydration is especially important when coming from much lower altitudes. Everyone reacts to altitude differently, it is important to consider this prior to your visit as well as during your visit. The amount of exercise must also be considered as to not over do it in high altitude conditions. Drinking alcohol beverages and smoking at higher elevations affects people in different ways as well. Use good judgement when consuming and partaking in these activities so you don't get sick. It is of the highest recommendation that if you decide to adventure in the National Forest or wilderness areas that you have The Colorado Outdoor Recreation Search and Rescue (CORSAR) Card. The CORSAR card is available for $3 for a one-year and $12 for five-year card and can be purchased at over 300 retailers in the state. You may also purchase a card on-line. Anyone who purchases a current Colorado hunting/fishing license, or boat, snowmobile, ATV registration already contributes to the fund. Adventure in the National Forest/Wilderness Areas at your own risk. The weather can change rapidly, please consider letting the property manager know your hunting, hiking or adventure plans, that way in the event of an emergency we can help properly direct the necessary agencies to your general location if needed. We want you to have fun, relax and enjoy your stay.

My place is about 50 minutes from Denver, but is uniquely placed at the front door of the back country of Colorado and all the outdoor life that comes with it. I am about one hour away from many famous ski resorts like Breckinridge, Keystone, and Vail. So, it is a great place if you would like to catch a MLB or NFL game, and spend some time at the ski resorts, mountains, or the back country of Colorado. Conveniently, there is a restaurant right next door.

Just BOOK IT! If the calendar is open for the days you are looking for proceed to the BOOK IT button! There is no need to send an inquiry to check on availability. :-) Our cabin the Dancing Bear Lodge is located in the center of the Colorado Rockies, in the Indian Mountain community of Jefferson Colorado! A secluded retreat with all the amenities and comforts of home available. 2 gas fireplaces, hardwood flooring and a cozy bear theme throughout the home. We love to relax on the deck, enjoy a fire and s’mores at the fire pit, or swing on the swing outside of the cabin. Deer, elk, and antelope have been seen grazing in the open meadows near our home and we have even spied a fox or two in the area. We are nestled in a heavily wooded lot surrounded by Spruce and Aspens. Our home offers the privacy and seclusion you are looking for and plenty of outdoor leisurely or adventurous activities. We have a modern kitchen that is fully equipped to whip up any meal, gourmet or not! There is a wide variety of spices are available including salt and pepper. If you are a baker you will love our kitchen! Old fashioned dishwasher is to be provided by the guest, there is no dishwashing machine. We have 2 full baths and 3 bedrooms. There is plenty of space to relax and recharge. WIFI is available and we provide a washing machine and dryer. Our home is pet friendly, kid friendly, and just simply friendly! We do ask that you take your pets with you when you leave or kennel them while away. The community of Indian mountain where our home is located offers some great activities for all ages. Some of these activities include. Hiking trails, private park and picnic areas, Frisbee Golf, Pasture Golf, Range, Gold panning, and a great sled/tubing hill. Indian Mountain was a ski resort back in the 1970’s and has its own hiking and sledding/tubing mountain. There is also an old ski lodge referred to as the Comfort Station for your use with restrooms and showers. Lost Creek Wilderness area is within 10 minutes of the cabin, Pike national forest is accessible. There are hiking, horseback riding, 4-wheeling, and ATV trails ready for exploration. Great fishing at Jefferson lake, Tarryall Reservoir, Lake Antero, Eleven-Mile Reservoir, and lake George. Our personal favorite is Tarryall. We have caught some big Pike and Trout there. We would be glad to share some tips with you. Nearby Ski resorts include, Breckenridge, Keystone, A-basin, Copper Mountain, and Monarch. Most are within 45 min to 1 hours from the Lodge. If you have a favorite vacation activity you can most likely find it here. Come and unwind, get away from it all. Trade the noise of the city for the hum of the breeze in the Spruce trees. Stay at Dancing Bear Lodge and have some good old fashioned family fun while enjoying all of the comforts of home.

Guests are sure to enjoy the stunning views, peace and quiet, and warm feel of this fully furnished, 2 bedroom/ 1 bath property. The property can comfortably accommodate 8 with multiple bedrooms, a separate guest cottage (no bathroom in the guest cottage!) and two lofts with beds.. The cabin is surrounded by trees, within 5 minutes walk to climbable rock formations, across the road from hundreds more acres of woods and fields to explore, and close to world-class fishing and hiking trails (kid-friendly walks, lazy pass hikes, and 14,000 foot mountains). Twenty minutes to quaint and historic Fairplay, 45 minutes to Breckenridge, 1 hour to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. Enjoy a day of activities and come back to watch the sunset with a glass of wine. (The kitchen is range only. No oven.) Please note: the cabin is discounted for winter because the snow presents some challenges. The driveway is about 400 feet long and very steep. Even when plowed, many 4wd vehicles cannot reach the top. This means parking at the bottom of the driveway and hauling your stuff to the top (in the snow, at high altitude). The cabin is a beautiful, cozy, and rugged winter mountain experience. There are photos of the driveway in the snow to give travelers a sense of the distance. In one photo you can see the view down the switch backs of the driveway and in the distance is my husband (hiking up with our stuff). Snow generally melts by April, and from then on, the driveway is accessible to all vehicles including 2wd. We have two small children and we use our cabin all winter, so it can be done and it's worth it!

Nestled in three acres of Aspen forest, our new custom mountain getaway is a perfect home base for exploring the Rockies. This is where modern convenience meets rustic charm. Each of the three bedrooms has it's own bathroom. With the pull out sofa in the media room, our home can sleep up to 6 people comfortably. You can use wireless Internet to stay connected; or pretend it's not there and enjoy the solitude. Located in the heart of the South Park National Heritage area, you’ll be close to the natural, historical and cultural wonders of the Rockies. During the summer, amazing hiking trails and fishing are nearby, as well as four-wheel drive trails for off-roading. Even if you just have a two-wheel drive car you have plenty of options. For example, you can take a trip through the historic 18th Century railroad town of Como on your way to Boreas Pass, taking in the breathtaking views above tree line before descending into the historic mountain resort town of Breckenridge. Eat, drink and shop to your heart’s content before returning over Hoosier Pass and through the quaint historic towns of Alma and Fairplay before heading home. During the winter, the local trails are great for cross country skiing or snowshoeing. Or you can drive to Breckenridge in about an hour for world class skiing and snowboarding. When you're home, you'll feel like you're truly in an Aspen Tree House, especially on our huge wrap-around deck .... a great place for entertaining! Or snuggle in front of a roaring fire with a good book. (But don't forget to look up once in a while to take in the view of the continental divide!) Cook up a gourmet dinner on our Blue Star gas range, or nuke a snack in the microwave. And help yourself to the spices and condiments. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, dishes, silverware ... all the things you need to make preparation and eating quite civilized. (The dishwasher makes cleanup easy.) You can pass the time the old-fashioned way playing cards or one of our many old-fashioned board games. Or you can watch a 3-D Blue-ray movie or catch a classic Netflix movie on our 60” flat-screen TV on the media room. If it’s a clear night, be sure to go outside and check out the stars. They’re simply amazing at 10,000 feet above sea level! When you're ready to turn in, snuggle into one of our comfy beds (We have two king-sized beds, a trundle bed that can be configured as two twins or a king, and a queen-sized sleeper sofa.) Then wake up to another glorious morning at the Aspen Tree House. Throughout the year, you won't see many people on Michigan Hill, but those you do meet are quite friendly. Most of the full-time residents are the deer, elk, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, coyotes, etc. And they pretty much keep to themselves! The Aspen Treehouse is just a 90 minute drive from downtown Denver along scenic highway 285. Unless you come in the winter, when four-wheel drive is advisable, any vehicle will do. Once you're there you can get around by vehicle, foot or mountain bike. During the winter, you can add cross-country skis, snowshoes or one of our two sleds to your modes of transport. This is a very special place to us, and we take great pleasure in sharing it with others. We expect our guests to respect the care and love we have put into our mountain home.

'Mountain Solitude in the High Rockies' is a brand-new mountain cabin awaiting your visit. Our home is on 2 acres wooded with aspens and pines. Our cabin is centrally located to just about 'everything' Colorado. The cabin is just 1 mile from Pike National Forest and 600+ acres awaiting your exploration. Our home features custom woodworking, a gorgeous stone fireplace, granite counter tops, our elk 'Elbert', and a host of fabulous cabin decorations to make you feel just like you are at home. You might want to relax on one of our 2 full- sized decks. Our top deck offers a hammock for reading just the perfect book or the best naps you can ever enjoy. Our bottom deck has a brand-new gas grill that awaits your best culinary skills. After creating an amazing dinner, you can enjoy it on our deck while watching the sun go down. If it is bird watching you enjoy, we have lots including our famous humming birds that will fly literally right up to you as they try to beat each other to one of the homes 3 feeders. We offer 2 full bedrooms. Our master suite offers a hand made king sized log bed and a full closet. You can even do some star gazing right from your bed! Our lower level bedroom offers two twin hand made log beds, a full closet and a dresser for all of your goodies. Both bedrooms have all of the linens you will need to stay in our cabin. We have 2 full bathrooms. One on each level and they are extremely convenient as the shower is separate from the vanity so four people can get ready for you Colorado adventures at the same time! Our bathrooms are equipped with personal hair dryers, bath towels, travel shampoos/soaps and lotions. We even keep a mini first aide kit for all of those small boo boos. Our custom kitchen awaits all that your senses can create. It is fully stocked with everything you will need to prepare any meal. My favorite is the crock pot! I LOVE to put a meal in this and know when we come home from a day of exploration, supper is done! We have a full stock of spices and condiments awaiting your creations. We have seating for 6 at our solid oak dining table. Relax is the name of the game at our cabin. We have a CD player with a stash of relaxing music. We also have LOTS of games, books, and DVDs for you to enjoy during your stay. There are some coloring books and magazines as well. You might choose to relax by watching a movie on our 48 inch TV with Blue ray player while a nice warm fire burns in our custom fire place. You can bring your movies from home or enjoy one of our over 35+ we have provided...all family friendly of course! We offer many local trail guides books if you wish to hike, climb a 14er, take a Jeep trail or get off the beaten path. We also offer a great 'field' guide to identify everything from wildlife to rocks to plants you might find during your stay. I guess this is the 'teacher' in me wanting to share these resources! Our home is not equipped with satellite TV, internet, or a land line phone. We believe it is important for everyone to relax, unwind, and unattached from the worldly electronic forces that control us. With this said, we are Sprint customers and receive signal on our phones. Our phone internet does work from the cabin. So, you are not completely free of these forces. Our cabin can be 'base camp' for the perfect Colorado mountain get-a-way! We are happy to share awesome site seeing ideas, trail heads to climb a 14er, mountain passes to travel whether by auto or those that require a Jeep if you need any suggestions. If you enjoy snowmobiling or ATV riding, this is just the cabin for you. You are just 1 mile from some excellent trails and just a handful more miles from others. Mount Silverheels just up from Como offers some great climbs and can be reached via Boreas Pass in Como. This pass is open early in the summer and a little later in the fall than most passes. This pass can also be your 'short-cut' to Breckenridge! If you are a hunter or fisherman...you have found just your spot. With 600+ acres of Pike National Forest directly behind our home you can't go wrong. We are also just miles from Tarryall Reservoir and Tarryall Creek which are both known for some great fishing. We also have a private lake ('Cabin Lake') (pond in Indiana terms) just 1 mile from our cabin you can toss a line in with our resident pass. All fishing and hunting activities require specific licenses as required by Colorado Game and Wildlife. Fairplay has a forest service office where these and ATV permits can be purchased just 27 miles from the cabin. If you enjoy seeing wildlife...you are in the heart of 'wild' country at our cabin. Species you could see in Park County or by our cabin are: antelope, elk, bears, mountain lions, coyote, fox, prairie dogs, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, and lots of birds. This cabin can be enjoyed any season of the year; however, during winter months a 4 wheel vehicle might be required to reach the cabin. Even though we are on a county maintained gravel road, we are not always the first to get plowed out during a winter storm. When a home sits at 9,575 feet in elevation, it is going to snow there in the winter! From November-March it is recommended you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle to reach the cabin. If you can think of an outdoor activity, you will likely find it within minutes of our cabin. If you simply want to relax and find TRUE quiet....it is here at Mountain Solitude! You just don't find this Peace anywhere else on earth! If your party is larger than 6, please discuss this with us. While we do NOT provide air mattresses, we are not opposed to the gentle use of them in some of the cabin's open areas so you can sleep more guests. Please call or email us to inquire about your specific needs.

This has been our family cabin for a number of years. The kids have always enjoyed bringing their dirt bikes and enjoying the outdoors. And having a camp fire for their s'mores. Our property has a long driveway, and a lot of flat land around the cabin for campers, trailers, etc...Also plenty of room to play baseball in the summer, or ride bikes, or let the dogs play. It has 2 double beds upstairs with a half bath. The master is on the main level, with a double bed, and there's a full bath off the hallway. The big sectional sofa can easily sleep an additional 2 people, if needed. Wood burning stove is nice for cold winter nights. There's a big covered patio out front to store your skis, boots, fishing gear, etc. Also, our shed for trash is large enough during your stay, to store some of your things that you might want to lock up when you are away on an adventure. We have a small grocery store at the bottom of the hill. (5 minutes away). They have gas, bait, and most food items that you might need. The Fairplay grocery store is about 15 minutes down the highway. We should have everything you need for your stay except food and water. (we have well water). We have always brought our own water. We have directtv, but no internet connection. An option that's worked for us, is to use a cell phone as a hotspot for internet. We do have a washer and dryer for you to use during your stay. Things you might do: take a hike around the property. At the top of the hill you can see 360 degree view of mountains...One of the few areas in Colorado with this kind of view. Its awesome! Jefferson Lake is 10 minutes away. It has nice hiking trails, and a great place for lunch as it has tables at the top. And of course fishing. Fairplay down the highway has its own fishing beach for your kids, along with a great ice cream joint...Check it out! Jefferson is known for its motorcycle and 4 wheel drive trails..There's a bunch of them! Bring your bike..There are many trails nearby. Breckenridge is about an hour away. South Park as a county has many little towns and a lot of history to be explored. There are plenty of shopping oppotunities, as well, with antique shops, galleries and vintage stores in the area. You will not run out of things to do. Please get with us for specific activities your family likes to do, and we can tell you drive times and details so your stay is productive. Come and build that big fire, enjoy the incredible crystal clear sky at night and try not to eat too many s'mores!
