It is a wonderful location... very peaceful, quiet and less than a 1/2 mile from the entrance to Damariscotta Lake State Park beach. The lake is a 14-mile long, 4381 acre body of water. From our deck you can watch wildlife...herons, loon, ducks, beavers, etc. The General Store, called Jefferson Market, carries all sorts of sundries and they make pizza, burgers, and other foods for breakfast, lunch or dinner for those who don't feel like cooking. The store is a short paddle-boat ride or walk from the house. There is also a new market, The Upper Crust, just down the road from our cottage. They offer pizza, sandwiches, lobster rolls, and delicious homemade baked goodies! Boating: There is a public boat launch a few miles (about 7 or 8) from the cottage along the lake where you can put in if you have a larger boat to bring with you, and there is a large dock to tie up to right in front of the cottage. Boats must be under 6 feet in height to get under a low bridge that leads to our house and dock. We dock a small 13-foot motor boat there when we use the cottage. House Rules/Information: Trash needs to be dropped off at transfer station in Nobleboro, approx. 7 miles from cottage, upon departure. They are open on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8 a - 3:50 p, closed major holidays. Directions and dump-pass are in the cottage on fridge when you arrive. There is a barn for storage of any large items. There are a couple of fishing rods available for use, but please use with care. When you leave, please strip and make beds with the quilts provided and leave the cottage in the same condition you find it. If linens become soiled for any reason, please wash and dry them before departure.
