Guest AccessYou can enjoy two private bedrooms and bathrooms as well as the living area between the two. The living area includes a sink, small refrigerator, coffee maker, and small microwave. While we plan to be at the house, we do have a spare key in a lockbox, and we can remotely control the house locks and alarm system. Interaction with GuestsSure! We actually do this more for an opportunity to meet interesting people than for the money. Getting AroundWe have plenty of parking in our driveway or on the street. The closest mass transit is an Amtrak station in Manassas. The closest Metro station is Vienna at the end of the Orange Line. Washington Dulles (IAD) is the closest airport, but DCA and BWI are both manageable. Other Things to NoteWe do have to enter the downstairs to access some areas of the house, but you would still have a great degree of privacy. We do have a crib and a toddler bed in another bedroom of the house. It is not in the same area as the two king bedrooms. However, we don't have small children in the house full-time, so you can make arrangements to use the crib IF you make prior, separate arrangements with us. And even though we have a crib and a toddler bed in the house, the house is NOT "child-proofed." The house was built for retirees, so the layout is quite good for people with mobility issues, especially if you remain on the lower floor. The house is secured with an alarm system that includes outdoor cameras, so it is well-protected.

The magnificent Garden at Alwyngton is a much sought after site for unforgettable photos. The entrance to the Victorian Era garden is through an ivy draped archway. One hundred pale pink rose bushes adorn the inside of the ivy-covered walls. The dramatic lily pond with shimmering gold fish enhances the already romantic setting. The Bride makes her entrance walking down the manicured lawn or in a horse drawn "Gone With The Wind" carriage. The gazebo at Alwyngton is nestled among 150-year-old trees and is an additional option for a ceremony site. This historic site once owned by John Quincy Marr, the first Confederate Soldier killed in the Civil War, has beautifully appointed bed and breakfast rooms, all with private baths, available for overnight guests. John Quincy Marr, who built the manor in 1855 for his mother, sisters and himself. Unfortunately, Mr. Marr would not enjoy his home for long. In 1861 at the Fairfax Courthouse, he became the first confederate officer to be killed in the Civil War. The next owner, Scott Nesbitt, bought the home in the 1890's. He raised his children there and saw his grandchildren raised there. I hope I will be fortunate enough to see my future generations in the manor also. As you can see, we are proud of our home and its history and that is why we enjoy sharing it with you. We are here to accommodate your needs and see that you and your guests have a carefree and wonderful experience during your special occasion at Alwyngton Manor.

Our home is located in Historic Old Town Warrenton on Main Street right next to the Mosby Museum. Enjoy strolling down Main Street visiting the quaint shops and historic buildings or relaxing on the balcony over looking Main Street. From the back door you look down on a flower garden, birds, butterflies and lovely 1/2 acre yard. Our home was built approximately in 1859, right before the Civil War. A likeness of our home was included in a sketch by Theodore Davis Leslies for Harpers Weekly in 1862. A copy of this sketch is located in the foyer of the apartment. The apartment consists of the upper floor of our home and has been a separate apartment for many many years. During recent renovations we discovered the box locks located in the oldest part of the home are dated 1866, right after the Civil War. The upstairs 2 bedroom 1 Bath apartment has large rooms, the kitchen is equipped with dishes, pots and pans, appliances, and most items to make it easy to prepare meals. The 2 queen size beds are equipped with Select Comfort Mattresses for your comfort. It is a very short walk to the restaurants, bakery, shops, museums, the library, banks, post office and the Court House. The Court House has burned twice in its history. In our front yard a base to one of the columns of the Court House has been left there for many years. It is made of seneca red limestone which is very rare. We have no idea how it came to be located in our front yard. Being located in Warrenton, we are close enough to easily visit or work in Washington DC, yet provide a relaxing and comfortable place to stay away from the big city. We are close to several Wineries, Equestrian sites, including the Gold Cup, Museums, Luray Caverns, Skyline Drive, The Blue Ridge and numerous other interesting places in Northern Virginia. We are interested in catering to tourists for short visits to the area by the day or week for special events, fun and relaxation. We are also interest in providing a short term home while waiting for a home to be built or guests that are new to the area and need a temporary home. Give us a call so we can discuss your specific needs.

You will truly feel like you have escaped the hustle and bustle on this beautiful property. Authentic log cabin is perched on a hill overlooking a 50 acre private lake. Spend your days swimming, fishing (no license required as it is a private lake), canoeing, kayaking, and hiking. Sip your coffee on the dock or in the screened gazebo by the water. Plus - one mile total private frontage on the Rappahannock River (in drier weather a 'headwater' stream in which kids can wade and splash and frolic). The property is secluded and a true one-of-a-kind find. Three miles to the nearest state road. Without traffic, 1 1/4 hour drive to/from DC. Lakeside gazebo, deck/dock area, swimming float. Kayaks, canoe. This is a unique and private retreat. It is so far at the end of the road you will most likely not see anyone else during your stay. The porch is a favorite place for rocking and talking. The shaded picnic area and the campfire pit are wonderful gathering spots. The gazebo and dock area are special places for kids and adults as well.

This stately, 3 bedroom and 3 baths, home rests on the lush 82 acre Whiffletree Farm. The farm and home provide a serene setting rich in history, agriculture, and natural beauty. Guests can enjoy the sense of being far from the busyness of city/suburban life, yet only 2 miles away from Old Town Warrenton, Virginia. Whiffletree Farm also allows guests the opportunity to delve into agro-tourism: gain exposure to sustainable farming, study resources (videos, books, articles) provided in home library, and purchase poultry, milk, eggs etc. from the farm store run by the farmers themselves, Jesse and Liz Straight. History: For at least 80 years of the 20th century Whiffletree Farm was dedicated to horses and specifically, fox hunting. The Warrenton Hunt still rides the property and the hunting hounds (50-60) are kenneled next door. Celebrities like John and Jacquelin Kennedy and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor attended cocktail parties at Whiffletree as part of the social scene surrounding the 'Hunt.' Agriculture: The farmers, Jesse and Liz Straight, raise pastured broiler chickens (and turkeys), free-foraging pork, grass-finished beef and pastured laying hens. Their farming method of using intensive rotation grazing creates a happy and healthy environment for the animals, improves the fertility of the land and provides more nutritious food for customers . Their cattle are 100% grass fed and their turkeys, broiler chickens, pigs, and laying hens are raised on fresh pasture, non-GMO feed, no antibiotics, no chemicals on the ground, and no toxic chemical washes when they are processed. All this work, precision and care, not only help keep animals, the earth and people healthier it also results in distinctively rich tasting food. Natural beauty: There are lovely walks about the farm, near the stream or down by Great Run and bike rides along the lane. And just a stone’s throw away guests will find a variety of the many great things Virginia’s rolling hills and vibrant culture has to offer: the historic town of Warrenton (2 miles), the storied battlefields of Culpeper and Manansas (15 miles), Virginia’s great wine trails- vinards/wineries- (8 miles), the Blue Ridge Mountains and Skyline Drive (24 miles), the Town of Little Washington with it's famous Inn (17 miles), the Ashby Inn in Paris, Va.(20miles) and many more sites. And lastly, in case hikes, bike rides and walks don’t satisfy your exercise needs, Warrenton has a large aquatic center with a competition pool, hot tub, water park with slides and workout facilities. Golf courses, a tennis club and a yoga studio are also just within a 10 minute drive. But don't overbook yourselves. The house, the farm and the grounds are special.

The SpacePrivate rooms with sitting areas and wifi included. The NeighborhoodThis is a working organic farm with horses, cows, chickens, guineas, vegetables, and fruit trees. Family's have been enjoying this home and land for generations and we would love for you to join in on the merriment and tranquility of Evergreen Farm. In 1853 Popes Army of 70,000 men in addition to Stonewall Jackson passed through Evergreen after The Battle of First Manassas. It was near Evergreen that they crossed the Rappahannock River to initiate fire in Orlean with The Battle of Second Manassas. Numerous additions and renovations have been done through out the years. The first section was built in 1790, an addition of 4 rooms was added in the Antebellum Era, then an additional 4 in the Victorian Era. The final addition is known as the Burkley Room a spacious suite on the first floor with separate entrance bathroom, and fireplace. At Evergreen we are passionate about the restoration and conservation of such a treasure. Evergreen is rich in history and loves receiving guests as it has been since 1790. Getting AroundCar for hire

Within driving distance there is an aquatic/recreational center for indoor swimming and exercising (with equipment and classes).
