The SpaceThe holiday home The Gem is an individual, friendly and bright architect-designed house with different levels. These are separated by short stairways. Much has been built with wood in the house and especially the large balcony, on which can be grilled, has a wooden deck.
One can practically see the Indian Ocean from every room of the property, even from the bath on the top floor :-). The view from the balcony is undisturbed. You look far above other roofs to the approximately 30 km long sandy beach of Jeffreys Bay. At the bay - with some luck - you will be able to watch dolphins and sometimes whales. If there is no marine life you can for sure watch the omnipresent surfers.
In the distance, the view is eventually caught by a mountain range, which is about 40-50 km away. Overall, a fantastic place to catch your breath.
There are 3 main bedrooms and 1 spare bedroom on the lower level, so that actually could stay up to 8 or 9 people. But we recommend an allocation of up to 6-7 people.
The house has a fully equipped large and partly to the lounge open kitchen with all the utensils and crockery.
There are 2 living rooms, so that a small group could sometimes go out of their way - if needed ;-). The upper living room/the lounge has an open fireplace, which gives a wonderfully cozy atmosphere to the usually occurring earlier African evenings.
There are two bathrooms, each with a bathtub. And there's an third bathroom with only a shower. The two toilets are in separate rooms, so there will certainly not be a morning scramble.
The large balcony is protected from the main wind direction and the sun in the morning is always a guest for breakfast.
For day or evening is a solid grill.
The house and the place Jeffreys Bay is quiet and safe. For couples, small groups or families with children, the house is perfect. We ourselves have 3 children who love to holiday there with us. Therefore, the blue room is (the children) incidentally also equipped with a bunk bed and a single bed.
You can park right in front of our house or on the enclosed property.
The beach is about 700-800 meters away, which is 2 minutes by car or 7-8 minutes walk. Shopping facilities are in place more than once. 4 supermarkets which are open 7 days a week. In addition, Billabong, many surf shops, a shopping mall, gas stations, liquor stores and some smaller shops can be found in Jeffreys Bay. There are many very good restaurants in Jeffreys Bay, so that within a week you can enjoy every day a different location with tasty food. I will be happy to give advice on request.

Most easy way will be per email but also calls from you are very welcome. I will not be in the house during your stay at The Gem but just across the street lives Sharon. She is the house manager and will take care of all your wishes. The NeighborhoodThe Gem is located in the district Wavecrest. It is very nice. The house constructions are mainly one-family dwellings and villas. The streets are more or less quiet. The Gem's spot is on a slope which enables a phantastic view over the full bay. Getting AroundThe easiest way to get to The Gem is by car. Jeffreys Bay is near to the road N2 and about 75 km west from Port Elizabeth. Caps are available in Jeffreys Bay if you want to go out for i.e. wine and dine.
