The SpaceBeautiful vista filled days and star filled nights await at our impeccably appointed and charmingly comfortable home. Our neighbors are close enough to keep an eye out for each other, but far enough away to provide complete privacy. Ocotillo Verde’s history can be seen in its polished concrete floor. Starting it’s long life as a homestead cabin, the home was added onto twice, the second time in 1948 when it was officially added to the county register. Extensive renovations completed in 2013 have modernized the original structure while preserving its character and beauty. The spacious 1200 sq ft interior offers a good balance of natural light and rich materials, examples of Modern Rustic wood and steel craftsmanship, and thoughtful detailing is found throughout. The home sits on 5 acres and is filled with art and visual puns, 1/2 mile from the main Joshua Tree park entrance, designed for two families and/or couples to stay lavishly and comfortably. The home is the perfect place to host a party or gathering, or simply get away to the quiet and solitude of the high Mojave. The first bedroom has a California king bed along with a twin trundle, and the second has a queen bed with a full size futon that doubles as a comfy couch. Each has it's own private door to the outside. The great room has vaulted ceilings and consists of a fully stocked kitchen, living room and dining table accomodating 8+. The kitchen features an eat-in island along with full size refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, pantry and cooktop, along with side-by-side gas and charcaol grills. There is also a full size washer and dryer in an enclosed alcove next to the kitchen. Enjoy the large propane grill and charcoal barbecue, or you can grill food right over the fire pit. The main bathroom has an extra large soaking tub that can fit two, perfect for relaxing after a long climb or hike. It also features a spacious rain-head shower, which can also fit two (or more, really). The village of Joshua Tree itself is a charming, eclectic and walkable town, with one-of-a-kind art galleries, unique boutiques and restaurants and even a saloon. Multiple outfitter stores offer climbing and hiking supplies, books and information, along side the National Park Visitors Center. Saturday mornings there's a Certified Farmers Market right in town. Crossroads Cafe, Natural Sisters, Pie for the People, and Sam's Indian Restaurant (which also has amazing pizza and subs). While you can find most things you need in the village, we recommend stocking up on groceries and firewood in Yucca Valley, 7 miles to the west. The home rents for $225 Friday and Saturday, and $175-$195 Sunday through Thursday, through 2015. Higher rates and minimum stays may apply during holidays and during holidays and special events. The home rents for $1,200/week. Rates subject to change. Keep an eye out for last minute deals, and will entertain single night stays on weekends if booked within 36 hours of your stay. We look forward to discussing your particular needs and circumstances! For groups of eight or less, we have a flat cleaning fee of $75 regardless of number of days stayed. We charge an additional $25 per person per night for groups over six. We highly recommend against trying to book groups of more than 8 people: the wear on the septic tank and lack of bedspace overwhelms the house. Please be aware that we cannot have anything other than toilet paper flushed down the toilets (beyond the obvious). While we welcome cats and dogs, pet owners must notify us at time of rental and a $100 security deposit and an add'l $25 cleaning fee will be required. No exceptions. Guest AccessYou will have access to the entire house and grounds, except for the enclosed garage. Interaction with GuestsWe live in Long Beach, so our interaction with guests is minimal. We do have a property manager who lives about 15 miles away in case anything comes up and you need to call him, but otherwise you will not see him. The NeighborhoodThe house is located in Monument Manor, very close to the park entrance. Most homes are on 5 acre plots of land, so houses are close enough to look out for each other, but far enough away for true privacy. There is quite a bit of interesting architecture nearby, providing great points of interest for local hikes and bike rides. Getting AroundThere is no nearby public transit, and a cab ride is bound to take a while and be expensive. We find that a car is the best way to get around, although bikes are another option, especially for rides around the neighborhood. The driveway has ample parking, and there is also street parking on Singletree. One thing we ask is that you keep to the roads. Our neighbors have generally moved out there for the seclusion, and don't appreciate anybody cutting through their land (even if it is completely undeveloped). Other Things to NoteBefore turning on the A/C, please use the evaporative cooler by the TV. The controls are on the front of it. It is far more green and instant than A/C, and will cool a house surprisingly well. Joshua Tree Roasting Company coffee beans are provided, and help yourselves to condiments, spices and the like. Please take advantage of the book and DVD library, and feel free to do a book swap. Bring wood for an easily managed fire in the fire pit, but always use the spark arrestor and don't build a fire if the wind kicks up beyond a mild breeze. Our housekeeper is meticulous and thorough, but the house is not air-tight due to a natural cooling system in the venting space above the ceiling. This means there is dust in the air, inside the house, especially when it gets windy. There may be dust on some of the surfaces when you arrive. This doesn't mean it hasn't been cleaned recently, but simply that living in the desert in a windy canyon has its' costs. Only two very fastidious guests have mentioned it via private feedback in over 1.5 years, but if you think this is a deal breaker, perhaps you might consider another Airbnb home in the area. We have a two night minimum for weekends.

Interaction with GuestsWe live in the other house on the 2.5 acre property. One of us is usually here to show guests around upon arrival and we're available if they need anything during their stay. The NeighborhoodThis charming, quirky and spacious desert dwelling is situated on a beautiful 2.5 acre property in north Joshua Tree. Here, you have the best of both worlds. You can get away from it all and experience the tranquility and awesome beauty of the desert flora and fauna and its breathtaking views, whilst being less than a twenty minute, and very scenic, drive away from the artsy attractions of Joshua Tree town and its independent local businesses. It has a small but always delicious choice of places to grab a bite to eat. The wonders of Joshua Tree National Park are also about fifteen minutes away, as is the sensational Integratron, in neighbouring Landers. If you'd like to catch some live music, we have many internationally acclaimed musicians and bands visiting the area to perform in nearby Pioneertown, at the ever-popular Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace, a half an hour's drive away. More locally, you would be less than a mile away from the late artist Noah Purefoy's incredible outdoor sculpture site. We're also situated about a mile away from the Joshua Tree Music Festival site, held bi-annually every May & October. Half an hour in the other direction you'll find the expansive glories of Wonder Valley and the David Lynchian Palms Inn, which also hosts a large array of live music The area has many more interesting places to check out, such as the Mojave desert's one and only shipping container can-house, and we'd be happy to give you suggestions and directions. Getting AroundWe are located off a dirt road and we can give you clear directions on how to get here once your booking is confirmed. Other Things to NoteWe offer bespoke, seasonal juices and juice cleanses delivered to your door by local juicing guru, Angela de la Agua. If you'd like a detoxifying and energising experience during your stay, these fresh, organic juices are a must. Rohini is a certified Reiki practitioner, so if you'd like to experience a spa treatment in the comfort of the guest house space, let us know! Send us a message for more details on juices and Reiki treatments.

The SpaceIt is a combination of my love of anything old. Cars, trailers, furniture, antiquities, even rocks and bottles. And my love of nature and my fellow man. It is a restoration, a demonstration of another way of life both old and new, that allows you to live in the past through history and reminiscing. Stay in a well adaptive sustainable place that gives you actual working systems to look at and use. I stack functions utilizing permaculture and re-purposing as much as possible. Personnel choice is far more powerful then technology. The proof is in the pudding, and I do so love butterscotch pudding. NOTE- Shower, Lavatory and left side of kitchen sink drain to grey water system that waters our plants . Please no harsh chemicals, dyes or food waste . We provide soaps and shampoo, but please use sparingly, The right side of kitchen sink and toilet drain to septic so please do not put anything you would not eat or drink in toilet. Septic system means sparing use of toilet paper and no wipes ,or feminine products in toilet. Please user trash can under sink in bathroom for these items.. Thank you. The overstory shade structure has been erected which leaves the Rocket, Shasta and Star covered and our guests have it made in the shade during high in the sky summer heat from the desert sun. This actually drops the inside temperature 10-15 degrees for a much more comfortable stay and protects the Rocket from to much solar radiation. Shasta and Star over story complete ,and moving on to adding more rivets into conduit braces to add integrity as the 60 mph winds last month proved it would stay but had some flutter and noise . Coming later this year in Phase two, we will add an outdoor bathing areas with a claw tub and shower, solar heated of coarse and eventually a composting no water toilet. Patio will be made of decomposed granite made into boulders to surround the exterior of the landing pad for the Rocket. New in the past few months all Bio filtration fields are recently evacuated , lined, and guild tree planting has begun. making your shower ,and lavatory waste water clean again using sustainable natural water treatment , irrigation, reclamation -recharge systems that use the same water 4 times before it returns to the sky or our aqua fir. You will find a detailed laminated easy to follow explaination of these system in your Rocket. Take a picture of it and spread the word of a new way to live with nature and a living waste treatment bio-field. Also changing to all Solar/ electric systems and removing anything that evolves combustion or burning . Pushing to be a demonstration center that can produce and store free clean solar energy and storm-water. Note addendum to sleep space . We have had 3 complaints in over 300 rentals about how many people the Rocket comfortably sleeps . First Airbnb site doesn't have a range like 3-4 . So for clarity keeping in mind this is a trailer with room size limitations, although it is a large trailer, small to medium adults and children who like who they are sleeping with it will sleep 4. All others 3. Key words here is cozy and it is a trailer, so please use your best judgement when booking as we want everyone to enjoy their visit to the Roost. Guest AccessWe do allow requests for commercial photo shoots and filming at a flat rate of $350.00 a day, added to the nightly rate if you wish to stay. You must have insurance and proper permit as required. You cannot exceed the guest limit of 4 staying in the Rocket and parking is limited to two vehicles . Additional guests or crew must leave the property by 8pm. No campfire or bon fires allowed anyway on the property as we truly believe burning anything is a crime against nature and the cause of global warming. We are solar's not burners and ask you respect the science that proves this new way of thinking. The project will probably never be finished as long as we the people long for better , simpler ways to live and let live. Enjoy. Oh yeah in the interest of free clean energy from the sun we provide you with a Global Sun oven to cook with using free energy from the father sun...... It is easy and fun and food taste great. Instructions are hanging up in each trailer . Mumsie cooks in hers everyday as long as you cast a shadow. Any thing you can do in a oven you can do in a sun oven and best of all you will have a real hard time burning food. Forgot the raisin bread for two hours past the regular cooking time, and oh well it is fine. My friend Tim makes souffles in his. Please take any ideas home with you and spread them like butter on raisin toast. My favorite. New this month by guest request I set up the cast iron claw tub (you can see it in the cover photo) temporarily outside on the lanai for guests to cool off in while staying. Tested personally by me and I will be moving it around to find the perfect spot for views , along with the bottle wall shower and lavatory now under construction. The bottle bath house has been fully studied via perm a-culturally for providing privacy, while protecting view shed, windbreak, light, thermal-mass, passive solar, and solar space and water heating. It is a work in progress. The star view is another important feature to consider in this conceptual integration. We purposely have only solar pathway lights and a trailer handle light so you can better view the stars. If you require more light use house lights and open the curtains but be respectful of the others staying with us. All of this went into the placement of each trailer on our property as opposed to parking lot parks one trailer next to another RV Park style. We will only ever have three maybe four full time rentals on this five acre parcel and the lower 2 1/2 will remain open desert.. Buckout enjoy. Interaction with GuestsI leave that up to the guest but do enjoy letting people know what is going on and where. Have been know, if my schedule allows, to join people for hiking, meeting for dinner with live music, or to attend local art /music events which are always going on somewhere around town . If you are staying a couple days and would like me to drop by please just let me know a day in advance and what time would be good. As always the promise of a good bottle or two of beer always helps motivate me to show up and talk perm a culture till your ears bleed. I will also give you your space if all you want to do is relax and watch stars, sunrise and sunsets. I am pretty easy going and want folks to do what they want. If you want to talk water, energy or perm a culture I am your guy, so I recommend again that you book at least a couple of days as this requires time and a few drinks to wrap your mind around it all. If you are a musician, you can play to the stars at the Astronomy Theater, or an artist just feeling the land ask us and we will give you a couple of ideas still in our pipeline and you can leave a calling card sample of your creativity on this collaborative site for future guests to enjoy. We have lots of materials to play with and the space to create. An example is the piles of bottles donated by friends and visitors to be install in a labyrinth based on an early pagan calendar. Also bottles to be used in outdoor bathhouse now in construction at the rear of Rocket, The NeighborhoodWe are in a unique area with spectacular views and illumination of the park rock piles, dark night skies, star gazing, wildlife corridors-, jack /cottontail rabbits , coyote, roadrunners, desert tortoise, quail, squirrels, migratory buzzards, sunsets and sunrises, and amazing blue clean clear skies with bizarre cloud formations all playing and working together to surprise your senses. All kinds of birds for the bird watchers, Nature will find you here if you slow down below 70 mph and pay attention. At the very least you will see bunny's, lizards, and quail . I guarantee it. Buck Getting AroundPlease make sure to print your itinerary since it provides really good directions. Also check out the guidebook for things to do around town. You need a car and high ground clearance for some dirt roads. Access to the Roost is served by paved roads and we keep our private dirt roads nicely graded but purposely winding to leave as much native vegetation on the land as possible. Even small creosotes bushes can be hundreds of years old. It is a remote area, with a little space left between our communities and wide open lands all around. The is a bus system on the main highway from Palm Springs Airport through to 29 Palms everyday but it is two miles to three from the roost to the main highway bus stops. Other Things to NoteWe have extreme weather shifts and it is always changing , so bring a layers of clothing depending on time of year. Be aware of the natives as we do have snakes and rocky or sandy washes are prone to them. Walking sticks are recommended especially when trekking on your own. We do have Flash floods and monsoon rainfall, so when it happens it is something that travelers need to respect mother natures power not drive though flooding roadways or washes. Be safe. One last note: trailers unlike homes are unique ,so be prepared to hunt for light switches and plugs. The living room and porch handle switches are just inside the entry door on the right under curtains and kitchen and bathroom lights are on the left side of upper kitchen cabinet above the stove. there are many other interesting switches and lights throughout. Water heater switch is at left of kitchen sink so if it is not working it is probably been switched off . Heaters are on modern countdown timers, so please only turn them on as needed. Enjoy these things as they are part of the era and charm of a vintage trailer. The two forward wall lamps have flicker flame bulbs in them just for fun. We kept as all of the original fixtures as they are pretty awesome. We Highly Recommend staying at least two nights as there is so much to do and see . Our single and only complaint is "I wish I had stayed longer" You will read it often in our reviews. See Guidebook for ideas but sure bets are Noah Purfoy's Desert Art Museum. The Doolittle house. And a sound bath at the Integetron. in Landers. Also check out the Astronomy Theater events are unforgettable. The Rocket is wired to a solar system and the heaters are set up specifically to that. Please do not bring an extra heater as it will blow the main breaker . If you use a blow dryer, make sure the heaters are off. Also the house breakers are in the bedroom closet and can be tripped by using microwave and toaster oven at the same time. Items left behind will be sent to you but we charge $25.00 minimum to cover an hours time to go to the post office, package and postage. Simply send payment thru Airbnb resolution center and then we will ship your forgotten item to you. There is a $28 Key Replacement Fee if the keys are not in the trailer upon your departure.

The SpaceStay in this lovely, gently renovated piece of history. Pioneering homesteaders came to this area over 50 years ago and built small cabins on large tracts of land, some of them pre-fabs. This is one of them! Less than 15 minutes' drive from downtown Joshua Tree. Spectacular views, and desert wildlife, flora and fauna. Cabin includes: -outdoor "under the stars" hot shower -indoor 1/2 bathroom with sink and flush toilet -full kitchen (incl stove and oven) -queen-sized bed in the bedroom -cook outside! barbecue grill is provided -wireless hi-speed internet - Please note that there is a fireplace in the cabin, * but it does not work. * Guests may also have freshly prepared organic juices made by local juice cleanse guru Angela de la Agua delivered to the cabin. A menu/pricelist is available upon request. Please note that we have a TWO-NIGHT MINIMUM ON WEEKENDS (Fri-Sat-Sun), and a THREE-NIGHT MINIMUM FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND. This requirement allows us to keep our per-night rate low, so that the greatest number of folks get a chance to experience being here in the unfenced desert, under the Milky Way. We donate 2.5% of our proceeds to the Mojave Desert Land Trust, an excellent local non-profit organization devoted to "protect[ing] the Mojave Desert ecosystem and its scenic and cultural resource values." Interaction with GuestsUpon your arrival, we will introduce you to how the cabin works, and to the land and its animals. We live less than a mile away and will be available 24/7 during your stay.

The SpaceEnjoy the desert in it's natural environment. The Copper Moon Cabin is a haven for those wishing a relaxing vacation away from it all. Perfect for an artist/writers retreat or couples getaway. Take in the peace and quiet of Copper Mountain Mesa while you stay at the Copper Moon Cabin. This unique little 475 sf cabin is one of two cabins privately located on 7.5 acres surrounded by open space. The exterior has been preserved in its original condition, the interior updated with simple design and comfort in mind. Off the grid with solar and propane water, oven and wall heater. Make a nice meal in the well equipped kitchen (no microwave/dishwasher/refrigerator). Bring ice for cooler which is provided for your perishables or bring your own cooler. During the cooler months cozy up with a good book in comfortable reading chairs in front of the window... cabin warms up quickly with propane wall heater. No TV, cable, or internet. Instead play a game of croquet or horse shoes! A nod to the '50s when life was simpler...and a great place to unwind. Just bring your own wood and kindling/starter log.Visit the national park, the Integratron, shop galleries in town, go to the farmers market (Saturday mornings), enjoy some local art and go on the Hwy 62 Art Tours in the fall, or rock at the nearby Spring and Fall Joshua Tree Music Festivals. The cabins each have their own sense of privacy with gated fenced yards and individual firepits. Interaction with GuestsI do not live on the property and your stay will feel private and free of encumbrances. The community actively supports the arts and tourism and environmental issues. Visitors will find the locals to be an extremely interesting and friendly lot. The west entrance to the amazing 800,000 acre Joshua Tree National Park is just 3 miles away and the property features views of the mountains in the park. There are excellent running and hiking trails outside of the park in Joshua Highlands and Coyote Hole and Section 6 outside of the park just a short walk or drive from the property. Getting AroundPublic transportation options are limited in the area but the village of Joshua Tree is just 10 blocks away on paved roads so a variety of restaurant and entertainment options are within walking or biking range. Several taxi companies service the Joshua Tree area. There is public bus service connecting the village of Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, and Twentynine Palms along Hwy 62 on a regular schedule. Other Things to NoteIf you like retro and vintage then you will love this property. It harkens back to another era - think Mad Men in the high desert - and is a perfect house for entertaining and relaxing in style.

The SpaceThe house was originally built in the 1940s and is located in the Joshua Tree 'Village' on Park Blvd, the road that leads into the National Park. If you're into history - it is one of the original structures in Joshua Tree! The place is within walking distance to town, the Saloon, the Visitor's Center, Coyote Corner Gift Shop, Crossroads Cafe, Park Rock Cafe, the Farmer's market, the Thai restaurant, Antique stores, the works. It's a 5 minute drive to the National Park Main Entrance and a great way to enjoy seeing it all at your own pace (the Park pass is good for 7 days so you can exit and return multiple times). We're about 15 minutes to Pioneertown, Pappy & Harriet's, and Integratron. The house has an awesome new kitchen with lots of space, a table for 4, concrete countertops, brand new dishwasher and appliances, everything you'd need to cook, and french sliding glass doors leading out onto a courtyard great for stargazing. We have a stereo system for plugging in your device, and the TV has a Roku with HBOgo/Netflix. Outside of the plumbing, we renovated the place full time just the two of us for 7 months and are very proud to say it is all done! The Cowboy Pool is the newest addition, it is all properly plumbed, filtered, maintained, and nurtured like it's my baby. Since it is thin metal it is of course not possible to heat in the winter months, but nice to lounge around nonetheless! The house has a guest house that is attached only on the outside, there is no shared space and the GH does not have access to the back/pool. All professional photography / commercial use must have written permission before being conducted on the property, we recently had a sneak-attack music video filming ! Get in touch with any questions, we love meeting new people and think it'd be a great way to experience Joshua Tree!
