The SpaceThe apartment can host 6 or more guests depending on the guests' sleeping arrangements. The mattresses at the 3 bay windows (which usually act as our reading nooks) can easily be converted to sleeping areas allowing an additional 3 people to sleep over.
Being our home away from home, the apartment is tastefully furnished and has the usual kitchen appliances and household electronics including a TV, DVD Player, DSTV decorder, washing machine, cooker (and oven), iron box, hair dryer and microwave.
Our kitchen is stocked with the necessary utensils including cooking pans, cups, plates, glasses and cutlery.
Our kitchen is also stocked with some basic food and cooking items including coffee, tea leaves, sugar, salt and cooking oil. Guests are encouraged to buy additional items according to their needs or preferences.
The pantry stocks extra items such as toilet paper, bathing soaps, shampoo and conditioner and hand washing soap. Should there be any accidents eg spillage of any kind, guests can find in the pantry the windows and tile cleaner, the surface disinfectant and the toilet cleaning liquid.
Extra towels, blankets, sheets and pillow cases can be found in each bedroom.
A washing machine is available for the guests should they need to do their laundry. Guest AccessGuests have access to every room in the apartment. Guests are allowed to use everything in the apartment (including whatever food is in the pantry and the fridge :-)). You will have access to free parking and also to the swimming pool. Interaction with GuestsWe will not be staying at the apartment during the guest's stay. Frequency of interaction with guests will only be as per the guests' requirement and level of comfort. The NeighborhoodJacaranda Gardens is built on 20 acres with manicured lawns. It borders a typically vibrant and busy Nairobi neighbourhood. Jacaranda Gardens is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city making it quite peaceful once inside the estate. Though the apartment enjoys 24 hour security from the guards who patrol the estate, we would recommend that the guests still lock the doors when they are away touring the City.
Various shopping malls are a short drive away including the Thika Road Mall (TRM) and Garden City Mall. Windsor Golf Course and Resort together with Safari Park Hotel are also a short drive away from the apartment. Getting AroundYou can now access the apartment using Uber!
Guests can use the public service vehicles which run 24 hours a day or alternatively take reliable cabs or taxis to or from Jacaranda Gardens using Uber or other local taxis.
There are local shops across the road where you can buy simple things like toothpaste, breakfast items, meat and vegetables. Should you need extensive shopping done, it would be advisable to do the shopping at the Nakumatt Supermarket at the Thika Road Mall (TRM) or Garden City which has more variety in terms of brands before getting to the house as it is a drive away.
Jacaranda Gardens can be accessed using the Northern Bypass or through the Thika Superhighway (which is usually the busier route and prone to traffic jams due to the matatus that ply this route). Other Things to NoteVarious social amenities are a short drive away such as malls (Garden City Mall, Thika Road Mall (TRM), The Village Market and Ridgeways Mall), supermarkets (such as Nakumatt Village Market, Nakumatt TRM, Nakumatt Garden City and Nakumatt Ridgeways), hotels (such as Safari Park and Windsor Golf Club and Resort), major universities (such as USIU-Africa, Kenyatta University and KCA University), international schools (such as Braeburn) and hospitals (such as AAR, Neema and Jacaranda Maternity).
Jacaranda Gardens is a very secure development and, as such, in the event that you plan to have visitors during your stay, please let the guards at the gate know in advance so that they are aware which will enable them let them in without much of a fuss.
