Our listing says "not infant friendly" because our son is 15 years old and our home is no longer child proofed. We don't have child safety items (plug covers, locks on cabinets, gates at the tops of stairs, etc.) and long ago gave away our high chair and other child items. If our home is not child safe enough and you'd rather stay elsewhere, we understand. Interaction with GuestsWe have never met a stranger and love to serve. Let us know how much or little interaction you would like and we will honor your request.
Enjoy our two very friendly Samoyed dogs, Atlas (a therapy dog) and Athena. They have an amazing smile that will draw you in to their calm, gentle and happy presence. People are amazed at how quiet and laid back they are. Want to snuggle, they will gladly join you. Want to chill by yourself, they will go and lay down and leave you completely alone. Friends have called them "white rugs" and often forget they are here. Please note: Atlas and Athena are not allowed outside of the house as they run and quickly get lost. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is safe, peaceful, quiet and has a country feel. Most of the lots are five to 20 acres so you have room to breathe in the clean, fresh air and enjoy the quiet. Many neighbors walk on the road at all different times, so be cautious as you drive in and out. Please note the speed limit on our private road is 20 MPH. Getting AroundWe are 15 minutes from Glacier International Airport (FCA). If available, we can provide airport pick up or delivery for $20. Please make arrangements at least 24 hours in advance. The taxi service that serves the airport is called Glacier Taxi. Their phone number is on the airport web site. Rates are $25 to $30 each way to our home.
There is limited public transportation in the valley. During ski season and limited dates in the summer there is a free round trip shuttle from several locations in the town of Whitefish to Whitefish Mountain Resort. It is called the SNOW bus.
There is a bus that runs from Kalispell to Whitefish several times a day but the nearest bus stop to us is by Home Depot (5 to 7 minute drive). There are also limited cabs in the area. Other Things to NoteYour new home is centrally located. Here are some drive times:
Glacier National Park is a beautiful 30 minute drive. If you are planning on hiking in Glacier, Hike 734 for great insight on all the amazing hikes in Glaicer.
Whitefish Lake is 15 minutes.
Whitefish Mountain Resort Base Lodge is only 30 minutes.
Kalispell Downtown exploration is only 15 minutes away.
Flathead Lake, the largest, natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, is a 40 minute drive until your toes are submerged in crystal clear water.
Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) is less than 15 minutes away. Really. Yes, you can sleep in just a little because you only need to arrive an hour and fifteen minutes prior to your departure. The joys of a smaller airport!
Costco, Target, Walmart, an organic grocery, shopping, coffee shops, various entertainment venues and multiple restaurants are a 5 to 10 minute drive.
Most locations in the valley proper can be reached in less than 30 minutes. We are very centrally located in the center of the valley.
Everywhere in the valley is safe. The locals are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Don't be surprised if people wave at you as you drive down the road, they say "HI" everywhere you go and people actually look at you and smile. The Flathead Valley really is a slice of heaven on earth.
Our home is the ideal place to stay when you are in the Flathead Valley for any season and reason. Visiting family? On business? Vacationing? Outdoor recreational fun? Skiing? Snowboarding? Crazy cousin's wedding? Kalispell, Whitefish, Columbia Falls or Bigfork are all within easy driving distance. Traffic jams are defined as a handful of cars at a stop light or a bunch of tourists pulled over to the side of the road to look at a deer, elk, moose or bear.
Now you can have a place to call home while you experience the adventure of the wild and beautiful Northwest Montana. You will be welcomed like friends as we want you to feel at home. Ask as many questions as you would like. We love sharing our piece of Montana.
