(Two guides and two vehicles are available, this is included in the self catered rate). Maximum 9 guests per vehicle. The lodge has staff on site to clean and do laundry. Interaction with GuestsStaff, guides as well as management will be on hand to help with any questions or requests guests may have. The NeighborhoodThe Klaserie Private Nature Reserve (approximately 60 000 hectares) is part of the Greater Kruger National Park and open to the Kruger National Park and Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. The private game reserve lies along the western border of the Kruger, with no fencing separating the reserve from the Kruger or the Timbavati; allowing the animals to roam freely between the private game reserves and the Kruger Park. The game in both the Kruger and the neighbouring reserves is essentially the same, the only difference being the experience of driving off-road in open game viewers with professional guides and that this area is known worldwide, as the area the white lions originate from. They are born and live in the wild here, so the gene pool of the white lion is carried within the lions of this area. The guides who accompany you on drives or walks are expert rangers and are in contact with other lodge vehicles, greatly increasing your chances of finding the wildlife that you want to see. Some of the other game found in our area are buffalo, elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, warthog, porcupine, lion, leopard, wild dog, cheetah, hyena, hippo, rhino and much, much more. Birding is quite spectacular, especially during our spring and summer when the migrants breed. Getting Around- "Eastgate airport" is 30 minutes from us and has chartered and private aeroplanes. (Chartered flights are from Johannesburg and Cape Town) - Transfers from the airport to us and vice versa can be booked with "Seasons in Africa" - Car rentals are available in various cities in South Africa - The closest town to us is Hoedspruit (about 45 minutes drive) - Johannesburg is about 6 hours drive away Other Things to NoteAdditional costs (what you can add): 1. The Neighborhood"Hoedspruit is in the heart of Limpopo’s wilderness. This small and friendly town lies in the foothills of the northern Drakensberg and is close to the Kruger National Park. It’s also close to a variety of legendary Lowveld wilderness reserves like Klaserie, Timbavati, Selati, Balule, Thornybush and Sabi Sands. Hoedspruit is known for its beautiful bushveld surroundings. It’s a good base from which to enjoy a diversity of eco-tourism adventures including game viewing, birding, hiking, river rafting, mountain climbing and Big 5 viewing. The name Hoedspruit is a direct translation from the Afrikaans words meaning ‘hat creek’. An early pioneer, goes the story, was so delighted with his decision to settle here that he tossed his hat into a nearby creek. The town has grown since then, into an agriculture and conservation centre. The tourism infrastructure is good, with a hospitable spirit and a strong conservation ethos. Hoedspruit is also part of the Valley of the Olifants tourism route, which takes you through a combination of wilderness and mountain areas. These include the eastern end of the Blyde (Motlatse) River Canyon, the Kruger National Park and the mountains of the northern."
