The SpaceOn solid ground in safe location. Here you can enjoy a super comfy queen size bed and fabulous shower & bath ensuite. Your room is designed and built especially for house guests - it is in the main house but it gives you a higher degree of privacy because it is at the other end of the house from the other bedrooms. It flows into our casual sunny living area and courtyard garden, which is perfect for relaxing in. Open the doors to the garden courtyard and listen to the sound of birds and running water or sit out under the umbrella. Your room is double insulated and double glazed for absolute peace. The mattress is luxurious Tempur, the sheets pure cotton, the duvet is feather/down, nice towels.... the good stuff... it feels nice. At night with the lights dimmed the room glows with warmth reflected from the Jarrah wood doors and on a hot still night you can even open the door directly to the courtyard to catch any breeze and lie watching the night sky from bed - very relaxing. Please note your room does NOT have a TV or electric blanket. It DOES have fast wifi, hot water bottles, extra assorted pillows and blankets, hairdryer, heating... see the list of amenities. Breakfast is buffet style and includes homemade muesli, fruits plus toast, teas/coffee. Vegan options also.. Unlimited free parking is on the street (usually right outside our front door) with onsite storage for any extra gear you are travelling with, such as bikes you might like to use at the nearby Makara Peak mountain bike park, BMX Park or road bike circuit. Guest AccessAn entrance via the rear courtyard means you can come and go whenever you like, without thinking you might disturb our beauty sleep. You are welcome to .. - share our casual living area and the courtyard - use the kitchen to store and reheat food or make a light meal on the cooktop. - do a load of washing and dry it on the line (just ask). Small charge may apply for dryer and hot water washes. Arrival time is by arrangement after 3 pm and the check-out time is before 10am, unless a prior arrangement has been made. Interaction with GuestsAs Hosts we are welcoming and helpful; relaxed if you just want to get on and do your own thing or happy to chat, share a drink or give local guidance to help you have a memorable visit. To use the family washing machine or something else - just ask, we will help. The NeighborhoodYou will love our location if you - want to see more than just the inner city - want to relax in a neighbourhood that is safe and very quiet at night - are happy to be 4 km (2.5 miles) from the inner city by local road. - want hassle free access to the city and waterfront. Our house is on a quiet private lane midway between two sets of village shops and close to... - the city bus (meters away); the best serviced route in Wellington. Refer to Metlink Wellington for bus journey planners from airport and all around the wider city - excellent. - two village's amenities; supermarkets/delis/cafes/fast food/two pub restaurants (all only a 5 min walk) - modern 25m indoor pool and spa, open 6am - 9pm (2 min walk) - City Green Belt hill walks with views over Cook Strait to the South Island (a few minutes walk to the bush) - world class mountain biking at Makara Peak, with helpful bike hire at Mud Cycles (2 min ride). En-route to CBD ( Lambton Quay, Waterfront) is the.. - Zealandia Wildlife Sanctuary a major attraction (2km) - Botanic Gardens & historic Thorndon Village (3km) - Cable Car & Museum (3.4km) - Carter Observatory (3.5km) - Victoria University (3.7km) - Parliament Buildings/Beehive (4 km) For those attending events in the city - we are well positioned for getting to events throughout the city including the Westpac Stadium, the Events Centre, the Michael Fowler Centre, the Town Hall and all the inner city theatres We are also close to Otari - Wilton Bush which I love visiting towards dusk as the birds settle in for the night and the Owls awake. Magic. Ask me for directions. Getting AroundIt's an easy and scenic 4km trip to Lambton Quay (the shopping high street) and to Parliament, and a few hundred metres more to the stunning CBD waterfront area. If using the bus (recommended) Refer to Metlink Wellington for bus journey planners from airport and all around the city - excellent. Once in the CBD, everything is close and within walking distance ! The City is very compact and we love that about it. PARKING AT OUR PLACE IS FREE Unlimited free car-parking is on the street outside our house. BUS Walk mere meters to catch the No3 bus (mostly leaving every 10 mins) for the nine minute scenic ride into the CBD. Conveniently the bus route runs the length of the inner city, making most highlights a very short walk away and re-catching easy. The same bus passes through Newtown (Hospital, Zoo), Kilbirnie and to Lyall Bay on the Cook Strait coast. Locals use the bus service a lot - it's a good way to travel. IF YOU DECIDE TO HOP INTO INNER CITY IN YOUR CAR ... Parking on Wellington inner city streets is $4 hr for a maximum of 2 hours. Most areas on the CBD fringe have a 2 hour limit unless you are displaying a pre-purchased coupon specific to that area. At weekends the CBD parking is free on the street but beware, the 2 hour limit still applies and is strictly enforced. After 6pm you can park without charge or restriction. NOTE you may never park in Residents Only parking. Parking buildings allow you to park for longer and some do a maximum daily fee that can work quite well. Be aware some are more than the on-street rate. TAXIS...Wellington Combined Taxis are the ones I recommend using but if you have the App - Uber is here too. Note: You do not have to take taxis in order - you may choose the one you want! CAR (URL HIDDEN) you need to hire a car? Not for most of the city highlights; just if you have a good amount of time and want to drive around the coast or maybe over to the Wairarapa for a day trip. Ask me if unsure. Looking forward to meeting you soon! Pamela & Milton Other Things to NoteThere's a rather friendly cat called Porter. Interested in staying longer than 5 nights? Please message me to check availability (instant booking is only possible for 5 nights or less)

The SpaceWe have WiFi available and breakfast supplies tea, coffee etc. are available and included in the cost. We've got a full laundry (washer, dryer, iron), bath, shower and plenty of living space (large living, dining and games room and a second, separate lounge). Guests have their own bathroom with bath or shared shower with continuous hot water. We've got off street garage parking available, and the area is very safe. Out back we have a private garden, large deck and good sun. Both rooms have a double bed with a built in wardrobe available upstairs. We supply all linen. The house is largely child friendly, and we can generally adjust things as needed depending on the age of the child. Guest AccessUp or downstairs options for the rooms; • Downstairs sleeping space is a large room with double bed, adjoining lounge and private internal access off garage. This space is under the main lounge area. • Upstairs has double room with entry/exit generally through the main door. Generally guests will have more interaction with our family in the upstairs space. • For family groups we often set up two addition single beds in the large downstairs sleeping space, or for other groups we can split the group between the up and downstairs spaces. • For couples or singles we just need to know if it is the upstairs or downstairs space you'd prefer. Just let us know the sleeping arrangement you'd like. Access also to large shared lounge, kitchen and dining area. Two bathrooms (one shower, one bath), kitchen and garage. We also have a portacot if required. Interaction with GuestsWe've both love travelling and meeting people from around the world. One our favorite places we've been to is Prague. We work full time during the week and the kids have lots going on. We are around in the evenings and in and out on the weekends. We're pretty chilled and happy if you want to hang out, catch up, discuss plans, exchange ideas or just use our house as a place to put your head down on your way to the next destination. The Neighborhood* Zealanda; Karori Wildlife Sanctuary * Makara Peak Mountain Bike Park (and Mud Cycles with full gear available just down the road) * 6 kms away from the central city * Karori Park, and playground * Wellington Botanic Gardens * Te Papa - Museum of New Zealand * Loads of Cafes Getting AroundGetting into town: • Driving into the city takes about 10-20 mins depending on traffic. We have super safe (free) parking in the garage or on the street right outside. • To bus into the city you can take the number 3 which runs about every 30 mins and leaves from about 50m down the road, or alternatively the number 18 or 17 bus takes you on various routes around city. • Walking: it takes about 45 mins to Zealandia, 1 hrs to botanic gardens, 1.5 hrs to the waterfront/Te Papa. To our house: • The best way to get to our house from the airport is to take the Airport flyer into town and transfer to the number 17 bus ~30 mins or taxi direct from the airport (about $33). • From the train station the number 3 bus is your best bet. Other Things to NoteGuests should make themselves at home, but are obviously responsible for any breakages, other damage etc. Please make sure that the house is locked up, all windows closed, when you head out. No smoking inside the house.

But there are good regular bus services from Karori to Wellington- a 20 minute drive from Te Whare Iti. This is a NZ rural road and (particularly) city folk may find it narrow and winding. For travel we normally allow 45 minutes in normal traffic to Wellington Airport and 40 minutes to the Ferry Terminal. These times are provided as a general guide only (your call ultimately) – We assume normal traffic flows outside ‘rush hours’. On weekdays allow additional time between 7:45 and 9:00 in the morning for increased traffic. In the evening traffic is generally heavier between 16:00 and 18:00. Wellington airport. The SpaceOur home provides a unique, peaceful escape in the heart of Wellington. We live on the top floor of a beautiful home equipped with a sunny greenhouse kitchen, making it warm and inviting. Your private room comes with a Queen Size Bed and cozy sheets! On those cold windy nights, we keep cozy by turning on the heaters and we also provide electric blankets to stay extra warm. If you leave the curtains open at night you can even enjoy waking up to a beautiful sunrise. We do not have a driveway, but parking is plentiful on our wide flat street, which you will find to be a blessing here in Wellington. You will be sharing the space with our friendly little Pocket Beagle who I’m sure will steal your heart! She is silent and doesn’t shed very much but if you are allergic to dogs then this is probably not the ideal place for you. Whiskey is a very lovely dog and welcomes everybody with a warm open heart and wagging tail! Guest AccessWe want you to feel at home, so you will have access to all our amenities including full use of the kitchen, unlimited internet, heating, fresh towels, washer and dryer, and living room. We do not have a TV so feel free to hang out in the living room and watch movies on your laptop or just hang out. If you need shampoo, conditioner or soap, feel free to use them and if you need a hair dryer just ask. In fact if you need anything at all just ask :) For breakfast we have a selection of coffee, teas, cereals, milk, bread, spreads, yogurt and home-made granola for you to choose from. Interaction with GuestsAs much or as little as you want. We enjoy meeting new people from around the world so we can hang out with a glass of wine or you can have time for yourselves, whatever feels best for you. The NeighborhoodWe are located in a quiet, safe and friendly neighborhood surrounded by beautiful hills. We are within walking distance to Zealandia, Makara Peak Mountain Bike Park, Otari-Wilton’s Bush, Karori Park, and Johnston Hill Scenic Reserve. Getting AroundIt takes just 10-minutes to drive into downtown Wellington. If you don’t have a car, then it’s just a two-minute walk to the bus stop. The bus comes every 10-mintes and takes 18 minutes to get into the city. Don’t feel like taking the bus? Then it’s a 53-minute walk to get downtown and why not cut through the beautiful Botanic Gardens just 30 minutes walk from our door step and then take the cable car down into the city. So many options! Other Things to NoteThe only downside to our space is our bathroom toilet. Since it does not have a built in water tank the handle to flush is similar to those found in a public toilet. Other than that, the bathroom is very clean and comes with a stand-up glass shower and sink.

The SpaceThe room is permanently set up with 1 queen size and 1 single size bed. Another single bed OR port-a-cot can be set up upon request to accommodate 4 guests. Please note, when a further single bed or port-a-cot is in use, the arm chairs need to be moved and there is less space in the room. The room contains a desk, Freeview TV, free Wifi, microwave, fridge, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine, cutlery, crockery and enough supplies to get you started (teas, coffee, milk, cereal and home baking). Guest AccessThe room is attached to our main house with its own private entrance. Access to the main house is by prior arrangement only. Our property has plenty of outdoor furniture and a trampoline that guests and their children are welcome to use. Interaction with GuestsThe room is set up to provide an independent and private space for our guests, however, we pride ourselves on being welcoming, sharing and approachable. We will do everything we can to answer any questions and accommodate any requirements that you have during your stay. The NeighborhoodAs well as having an impressive array of services and amenities, Karori is a haven for second-hand shoppers with no less than four to choose from. There are two bars with restaurant facilities (both offer child-friendly dining), and a variety of cafe and takeaway options. There are many walking and mountain biking tracks for the adventurous, and our local park is kitted out with an exercise circuit, running track, and cafe. Heading from Karori into the central city, business district and waterfront area you will pass the Botanic Gardens, Cable Car and Museum, Carter Observatory, Victoria University, Parliament Buildings and the Beehive. Within close proximity to the Beehive are the Westpac Stadium, Railway Station, and Ferry services. Closer to home, a five-minute drive will take you to local favourite attractions Zealandia Bird Sanctuary, Otari Bush, and the World War 2 Wrights Hill Tunnels (open to the public on public holidays). A small drive further through the South of Karori will take you on a scenic drive to rugged Makara Beach with Fishing, Tramping, and Horse Riding opportunities. The Makara West Wind Recreation Area has three walkways that provide visitors access to spectacular views of the coastline, wind farm, World War 2 gun emplacements and Fort Opau. Getting AroundApproximately 10 - 15 minutes by car and 15 - 20 minutes by bus into Wellington central city (longer during peak times). To plan your journey using public transport search online for 'Metlink Wellington'. Other Things to NoteWe are a child-friendly property that can be configured to either separate or integrate our family life (both inside and outside) with your accommodation space. People with children are encouraged to enquire and discuss how we can make your stay with children comfortable. Likewise, people without children needn’t worry that our children will be a feature of your stay. Unfortunately, no house can be 100% soundproof between rooms or floors. We take all measures to keep noise to the room at a minimum, this includes the use of noise reducing insulation and ceiling materials between floors, and only using the rooms above the room for sleeping in. Our bathroom is the only weak area we know of for greater sound travel to your room, this is because half of the bathroom is situated above the guest room. We ensure that any greater noise you may hear as a result of this is for short periods of the day, e.g. bath time, teeth cleaning etc. We hope to meet and greet all our guests, however, this isn’t always possible, at such times we will expect you to let yourself in and make yourself at home. Access to our full-size Kitchen and Laundry facilities (other areas of the house) is by arrangement. Being a family household with two children our washing machine and kitchen is in frequent use. If wanting to use these facilities, we can determine together when they can be made available for use. Car parking is on the street and free.
