The SpaceThe room is permanently set up with 1 queen size and 1 single size bed. Another single bed OR port-a-cot can be set up upon request to accommodate 4 guests. Please note, when a further single bed or port-a-cot is in use, the arm chairs need to be moved and there is less space in the room.
The room contains a desk, Freeview TV, free Wifi, microwave, fridge, kettle, coffee machine, cutlery, crockery and enough supplies to get you started (teas, coffee, milk, cereal and home baking). Guest AccessPrivate entrance to the self-contained room with access to the main house by prior arrangement only.
Our property has plenty of outdoor furniture and a trampoline that guests and their children are welcome to use. Interaction with GuestsThe room is set up to provide an independent and private space for our guests, however, we pride ourselves on being welcoming, sharing and approachable. We will do everything we can to answer any questions and accommodate any requirements that you have during your stay. The NeighborhoodAs well as having an impressive array of services and amenities, Karori is a haven for second-hand shoppers with no less than four to choose from. There are two bars with restaurant facilities (both offer child-friendly dining), and a variety of cafe and takeaway options.
There are many walking and mountain biking tracks for the adventurous, and our local park is kitted out with an exercise circuit, running track, and cafe.
Heading from Karori into the central city, business district and waterfront area you will pass the Botanic Gardens, Cable Car and Museum, Carter Observatory, Victoria University, Parliament Buildings and the Beehive. Within close proximity to the Beehive are the Westpac Stadium, Railway Station, and Ferry services.
Closer to home, a five-minute drive will take you to local favourite attractions Zealandia Bird Sanctuary, Otari Bush, and the World War 2 Wrights Hill Tunnels (open to the public on public holidays).
A small drive further through the South of Karori will take you on a scenic drive to rugged Makara Beach with Fishing, Tramping, and Horse Riding opportunities. The Makara West Wind Recreation Area has three walkways that provide visitors access to spectacular views of the coastline, wind farm, World War 2 gun emplacements and Fort Opau. Getting AroundApproximately 10 minutes by car and 15/20 minutes by bus into Wellington central city (longer during peak times). To plan your journey using public transport search online for 'Metlink Wellington'. Other Things to NoteWe are a child-friendly property that can be configured to either separate or integrate our family life (both inside and outside) with your accommodation space. People with children are encouraged to enquire and discuss how we can make your stay with children comfortable.
Likewise, people without children needn’t worry that our children will be a feature of your stay. The room is set up to hear minimal household noise.
We hope to meet and greet all our guests, however, this isn’t always possible, at such times we will expect you to let yourself in and make yourself at home.
Access to full-size Kitchen and Laundry facilities (other areas of the house) is by arrangement. Being a family household with two children our washing machine and kitchen is in frequent use. If wanting to use these facilities, we can determine together when they can be made available for use.
Car parking is on the street and free.
