The NeighborhoodLike most places anywhere a car is always the best way to get around as you will get to see more. However saying that, there is a tourist bus service which covers around 30 of the major things that guests want to do. The cost is around $25 each and it is a 'hop on - hop off' service which runs every day of the week. The ticket lasts all day. Going out at night is just a short 5 minute walk up the road and it's all there: cafes, bars and wonderful restaurants from the inexpensive to the fine dinning. It's all on our doorstep. However, if you don't have a car and want to hire one, then there is a car hire place up here , just ask me for the details and will gladly give you their details. Other Things to Note'Burnie Brae' - Blue Mountains - Australia is a non smoking and pet free environment. The premises are only suitable for a maximum of 2 persons to stay at night and we ask you to restrict your visitors to a maximum of 2 persons only, unless a greater number is agreed to by us, prior to the event. We further ask that guests and their visitors do not create any undue noise which my impact or be offensive to our neighbours especially between the hours of 10pm - 8am. The premises are not to be used as a 'Party House' and any such activities are strictly prohibited. Offenders will be in breach of their conditions of use for the premises and will be evicted immediately by the police thereby making any refunds invalid. Firewood: We know you will want to use the fireplace as part of your stay at ATELIER, but please note that we are not bound to supply firewood at any time as part of your agreement to stay at the property, as the premises does have gas heating provided. Generally firewood is supplied by us during the cooler months (Apr to Sep), but at no time is its supply ever guaranteed. So there are times when you may have to supply firewood own at your own expense. For an update on this item and its availability, you are better off sending me a text or e-mail closer to the time of your stay and I will advise accordingly. When firewood is available (which is most of the time in the cooler months), it is located under the verandah extension on the main house to keep it dry. So please help yourself. However, you are required to make your own kindling by using the axe provided to make smaller pieces of firewood, to get the fire started. If you are not confident using an axe to make the kindling, I can only suggest that you purchase some (at your own expense) from one of the local service stations o the highway on on the way up to the mountains. I do not have the labour resources on-site to sort this out for you. During the warmer months (October to March) your are welcome to use what is available if required. But again, there is no guarantee during warmer months of it’s supply. Should we not have any firewood on-site, it can obtained at your own expense, and can usually be bought at one of the two 24 hour service stations located on the main highway.

The SpaceThe house is located backing on to a mountain ash eucalyptus reserve with stands of fully mature tree ferns and huge trees. It is super quiet and peaceful, with only one neighbour (you are not wedged in between other peoples houses) The house includes a fully equipped Kitchen including dishwasher and gas cooktop, oven, espresso coffee machine,microwave, Bathrooms, Bedrooms, Laundry with washing machine and dryer, central underfloor gas heating system, wood fireplace. gas BBQ, Landscaped outdoor areas, Blue Ray/DVD player, 50inch sony flatscreen TV, CD player. The NeighborhoodThe house is in a quiet bushland reserve of towering Blue mountains Ash trees with and under storey of tree ferns. The original house was built around 1940 during world war II by the original owner who lived in Manly The house is a 5 minute walk from the train station and cafe's but is extremely quiet and has lots of native birds and animals such as rosella's, cockatoos, owls and the occasional wallaby in the backyard. The Katoomba location is central to all the major blue mountains attractions such as the scenic railway, 3 sisters, bush walks, lookouts, cultural centre and art gallery etc. Restaurants, supermarkets and cafe's are 5 minutes walk away. Hidden in the bush reserve below the house is a place known locally as the 'Gully' which has an interesting history. It was an aboriginal settlement during the great depression and was also a motor car racetrack up until the 1990's (Catalina Park). There are several walking trails through the bushland and you can still ride bicycles around the raceway below which is slowly being reclaimed by native bush. The SpaceDingadee is a lovely 1910s mountains cottage just 10 minutes walk from Katoomba town centre and train station. You have your own private entrance, comfortable sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom is a large airy room with high ceilings. Furnished with a comfortable queen bed, 1000 count pure cotton sheets and fluffy towels. There is a private ensuite bathroom complete with bath (the shower is over the bath so it's not suitable for people with mobility difficulties). You have your own private sitting room with coffee and tea making facilities, a TV and some comfortable seats. There's also selection of books and DVDs in the sitting room for your use. You can relax on the front verandah overlooking the lovely overgrown front garden and bird bath. I'm visited by rosellas, king parrots, currawongs, wattle birds, butcher birds and blue wrens. Although lately the neighbour's cat has been scaring the smaller birds away. I live in the house. My rooms are separated from your area by opaque doors. While you are here I use the back door giving you private use of the front part of the house (although sometimes I will need to use the front door). The central location of my house means I am near the railway line (which is reflected in my prices) I am rarely bothered by the noise but believe in full disclosure. Breakfast is not included with the room. On public holiday weekends there is a two night minimum stay. I am happy to pick you up from the train station if I'm given enough notice. And you can leave your bags here after you've checked out. I'm happy to talk to you about walks, cafes, restaurants etc. in the local area. And to chat about travelling if you feel so inclined, I'm an avid traveller who's visited all seven continents, my feet are always itchy! The SpaceOwls Cottage is a cute and comfortable non smoking, self contained two bedroom cottage nestled in a quaint garden setting in a quiet area of Katoomba with off street parking. The main shopping centre, restaurants, cafes and galleries are approximately 1 km and all major tourist attractions ie. Echo Point/Three Sisters 1.5 km from the cottage. Jjust a 5 min stroll is the Sports and Aquatic Centre wich features heated pools, spa, sauna, gym and Kids Kingdom Play Centre. The main bedroom features a queen size bed and the second bedroom comprises of two single beds. All with crisp white linen and electric blankets for extra warmth on those cold wintery nights. Relax in the cosy lounge which features gas log fire, TV, DVD, books, magazines and games for your enjoyment. Enjoy a romantic dinner in the formal dining room. Fully equipped country kitchen with microwave, electric stove and refrigerator. Enjoy a BBQ with your family & friends in the lovely rear garden with outdoor setting and swing set. The SpaceMoonya is a lovingly restored vintage 1950s holiday house located in a whisper quiet street in one of South Katoomba's most sought after locations. Moonya is very close to the escarpment and premier attractions, the Jamieson Valley, Katoomba Cascades, numerous bushwalks, Scenic World, and within walking distance to the Three Sisters, and Katoomba township and its quaint galleries, boutique stores and gourmet cafes Built in 1949 in post war Art Deco style, it is a tastefully furnished with vintage and retro furniture with all the modern comforts and set in a sun-drenched, beautiful and peaceful 1950s garden setting with vintage outdoor furniture. Comfortable, warm and bright, this north-facing house maintains many of its original features which adds to its vintage charm. What also makes Moonya a truly unique holiday experience is its mid-20th Century collectables, designer furniture, fittings, artwork and furnishings from the 1920s to the 1970s including pieces from New Zealand, Australia and Denmark. The house has high ceilings, deco cornices, original Bakelite door handles, a restored original kitchen and bathroom, and polished hardwood floors with flokati and wool rugs. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed to cook including a new 90cm Italian dual fuel cooker, a stove top Italian coffee maker with quality ground beans and a nutribullet juicer for the health conscious. Enjoy alfreso dining around the barbeque or just relax in the private ambience of the garden and watch the birdlife. Each of the two bedrooms is vintage styled with dresser, wardrobe, a queen bed and double beds. Linen and towels are supplied and are of good quality and each of the four beds have electric blankets. Moonya faces north so it is filled with sunlight and warmth during the day. The house is beautifully warm in winter with underfloor gas central heating in the lounge, dining room, kitchen and bedrooms, and a gas heater. Entertainment includes fast NBN wifi internet, large screen TV, Fetch TV and Netflix, board games, DVDs, books, magazines and jigsaw puzzles. There is also an excellent quality sound system in the dining area with a collection of blues, funk and soul from the 1940s to the 1980s. The house is well equipped for babies, toddlers and children with a cot, high chair, changing mat and a toy box. Two single beds are also available. Moonya is an ideal romantic getaway and retreat for couples, small families or a group of friends. The house is also set up as a writer's space for those who would like to have a relaxing place to work. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. The house is located on an escarpment just above Katoomba Park, from where you have a 7 minute walk through native bushland to the Katoomba Cascades, Falls, Scenic World and then on to the Three Sisters. At Scenic World take the cable car and view Katoomba Falls from high up, or take the scenic railroad down to the floor of the rainforest to see tall gums and other ancient trees. Take the Cliff walk with its spectacular lookouts and gaze towards the Three Sisters, Mount Solitary, the Ruined Castle, Orphan Rock and Narrowneck. You will find that there are so many activities to choose from and all within reasonable walking distance to the house. Katoomba shops and cafes are a 15 minute walk. Restaurants, cafes and second hand shops in Leura are close by and Blackheath is a 15 minute drive away. Both bedrooms have queen size beds, plus one of them has an extra double mattress that can be laid on the floor to accommodate a maximum of 6 people in total. Cleaning fee includes linen and towels. The house has a very private garden at the back with a deck, BBQ and a hot spa. Families with kids might be happy to know there is a trampoline and a cubby house for the kids to play in. We always make sure there is some basics in the pantry and fridge, so feel free to use the foods you can find in the kitchen. The SpaceThis charming and rambling late-19th century house fronts directly onto the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park with immediate access to some of the best walks in the Blue Mountains including a 30 minute walk (or a 3-minute drive) along the cliff top to the iconic and grand 3 sisters lookout. The house is a 3-minute drive from the centre of Katoomba and all of its conveniences including supermarkets, cafes and the train station (15 minute walk to the train train or 3-minute drive). The positioning of the house overlooking the national park and with a large garden, ensure privacy and seclusion. So it has the best of both worlds. The house has charm and character and is well lived in. There is a spacious fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher, gas oven and microwave, and a washing machine. Coffee grinder and maker, toaster. There are two bathrooms, one with a large bath, and both with a shower. There is a trampoline and swing in the pine forest in the rear end of the garden. Guest AccessThis is our family home but we spend most of our time at our Sydney home due to work and school commitments. Therefore we have decided to share our mountains home through airbnb. This means the house has a lived-in feel to it and we have set up some of the rooms for guests but not all rooms are available due to our personal items in other rooms. A caretaker uses a room at the back of the house but not any of the guest facilities, therefore the space is private but it means there will be another person coming and going from the back of the house at night-time (he is out during the day). Otherwise the guests have the house to themselves. Guests have access to the one-acre garden front and back, and the wrap around verandah with views across a large valley of the national park. There are two main bedrooms, with a queen bed in the first room, a double sofa bed in the second (the white room with a lot of light) plus a sunroom with a single bed (good as a third bedroom in summertime). Due to feedback from some guests, we have changed the main bedrooms around, so there is a queen bed rather than a double, and in the room without a skylight. Interaction with GuestsWe will try to be here to greet you and show you around but often are unable to, so we will leave instructions for getting access. Getting AroundThe cottage is 10 minutes walk from Katoomba train station and the start of Katoomba town centre. You can also walk (about 25 minutes) to all the great homeware shops and restaurants at Leura. A short drive to Echo Point and the Three Sisters (5 mins), Mini Ha Ha Falls (5 mins) Wentworth Falls (10 mins) or Govett's Leap Lookout at Blackheath (10 mins). Aviemore has two guest bedrooms, one bathroom, and a sitting room (with tea/coffee and homemade cookies). Bedroom one is large with a king-size bed and leather lounge. Bedroom two contains a queen bed and a king single. A child's trundle bed is available if required. Quality bedding, towels, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are provided. Guest AccessAviemore Cottage is the host's home, and all access is through the front door. This gives direct access to the upstairs space which is solely for the use of guests. House key is provided to guests, to access the house independently during their stay. Guests will have the entire upstairs to themselves including the two bedrooms, a bathroom and a lounge area with a wide screen television and DVD player. Guests are free to wander in the gardens as they please or sit and enjoy the sun on the veranda. Interaction with GuestsVaughan and I enjoy meeting and talking with our guests, usually over breakfast in our shared dining room and are ready to help with local information on activities and dining experiences. It totally depends on the level of interaction our guests want. We are gardeners, outdoor people and enjoy having children as well as adults around. Get away from the heat and humidity of coastal regions, the dry heat of the inland and enjoy a tree change in a cool climate garden cottage. Visitors can use Katoomba as a base to visit Mt Wilson, Mt Irvine open gardens, and Mt Tomah Botanical gardens. Or you can stay close by and do an Antiques, old wares and cafe crawl of the villages. Bushwalk tracks that cater to all fitness levels or bring your mountain bikes and go exploring. The NeighborhoodAviemore Cottage is in the hub of The Blue Mountains National Park. Guests with a car can access all attractions including The Three Sisters, Scenic Skyway and extensive walking trails. The picturesque village of Leura with its interesting shopping and cafe culture are minutes away. Katoomba has interesting examples of the Art Deco period in its cafes and hotels. Both Leura and Katoomba are home to several critically acclaimed restaurants. The Dryridge Winery, Megalong Valley with its landscape and Tearooms, Mount Wilson and Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens are fascinating destinations for a day trip. Twenty minutes away from here, by car out of Blackheath, the awsome views of the Grose Valley are not to be missed. Getting AroundRailway stations in Leura and Katoomba are 1 km from Aviemore Cottage. Each has a taxi rank outside the station. The local bus service stops about 250m from Aviemore and a timetable can be provided. Travelling by private vehicle will give you easy access to all attractions and nearby villages of Blackheath, Mt Victoria, Medlow Bath, Leura and Wentworth Falls, in under half an hour, in most cases within 15 minutes. A short walk from our house, will get guests to either Leura or Katoomba. Other Things to NoteI am an artist and enjoy painting plein air. I am familiar with many interesting places to paint in the upper Blue Mountains. If you are doing a workshop, or want some company painting I am happy to paint together. If you have a friend or two to share the accommodation cost you can stay here in comfort very reasonably, with breakfast included, taking advantage of local knowledge. Tastefully furnished throughout, Arcadia offers the ideal base for couples or small groups to explore the Blue Mountains by day and relax in comfort during the evenings. Arcadia has plenty of entertaining areas including a large north-facing rear deck with BBQ, a lounge room with gas-log fire and TV, and a formal dining room. It also has a well equipped kitchen, 2 newly refurbished bathrooms, and full laundry facilities.       The SpaceThis is a restored 1950's holiday flat in a pretty garden setting. It is only one block from the famous Three Sisters at Echo Point. Watch sunset over the Jamison Valley when all the tourists have left for the day. Several of the Blue Mountains' most famous bush walks can be accessed from the end of the street and all the restaurants, cafes and bric a brac shops of Katoomba and Leura are also very close. The flat faces directly north so sun fills the space during the day. A beautiful 'Eco- Smart' open fire keeps it cosy at night and there are heaters and electric blankets in both bedrooms. There is a queen sized bed in the main bedroom and a double bed in the second bedroom. A substantial roll-away single bed can also be used in any of the rooms. All mattresses and linen are good quality. Linen and towels are supplied What makes the flat unique are the beautiful Mid-20th Century furniture and fittings including 1950's and 1960's pieces from Australia and Denmark. The floors are polished hardwood with scattered hides and rugs. The original 1950's bathroom and kitchen have been sensitively restored. For those who like to cook the kitchen is very well equipped. There are two TVs (lounge and 2nd bedroom) with video/ CD/ DVD players, movies, games and books for when entertainment tastes differ. There is also a turntable and an extensive collection of LPs to allow music enthusiasts to enjoy the sound of vinyl. READ THIS VERY CAREFULLY ...There is a coded lock on the SIDE door of the flat. NOT THE FRONT DOOR. The side door is on the right hand side as you look directly at the flat. For security purposes we will TEXT that code to your mobile as we change the code frequently. If arriving after dark a sensor light should assist you to find the door and use the coded lock. When you get in, there is a key to the front door hanging immediately in front of you on the wall hanger. During your stay this will be easier to use than the coded lock. Please leave it in the same place when you leave. Please park at the rear of the block directly in front of and close to the garage. NOTE the driveway is shared with other tenants and in one flat there is a very young child. Please proceed slowly and carefully down the drive way. There is a carport to the right of the garage however these spaces are used by the permanent tenants. If they sound too strenuous, it is a gentle 45 minute walk to Solitary Kiosk for a fabulous brunch. Getting AroundThe bus stop is on Lurline street near Echo Point. The Red 'hop on hop off' tourist bus goes down the street and stops at Echo Point. Other Things to NoteThe Eco Smart open fire burns methylated spirits (metho). There will be five litres in the special dispenser on the kitchen floor. This should be more than enough for a few evenings however, if you have the fire on all day at a high temperature you might run out. Use this purpose built metho dispenser to avoid spills. Please read the instructions for the fire in the dark grey folder. It is very easy to use but read the instructions first. The turntable is a ‘vintage’ automatic 1980s machine. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY MANUAL OPERATION OF THE TURNTABLE, it will break. Follow the typed instructions on the turntable. The roll-away bed (if needed) is in the main wardrobe. If the bed is not made up already, clean linen (and a fluid proof mattress protector for young children) can be found in a plastic bag in the main wardrobe. Please do not dispose of cooking oil by pouring down the kitchen sink. This will block the plumbing! Garbage night is Tuesday. If you are staying or checking out on Tuesday please leave both bins on the street in front of the letter boxes. PLEASE DO NOT STAND or (in case of children) jump on the lounge room furniture. It is a valuable 1960's Danish set and restoration costs for splits in the wooden slats are high. If you need to stand on something there is a step ladder in the main bedroom. PLEASE TURN OFF ALL HEATERS, ELECTRIC BLANKETS and LIGHTS, and LOCK ALL WINDOWS WHEN YOU LEAVE From May 2016 there is ADSL internet BUT it is not unlimited so please DO NOT use for downloading movies or You Tube. This will mean that the next guests may not have any internet service. The password is annotated in the instruction book on the table.       The SpaceWelcome to Snowgums! Snowgums guest accommodation is half our house but totally private. We offer clean, cosy and contemporary accommodation where, along with a sun-filled bedroom, you have a private sitting room, both of which look out onto the bushland. There's also your own private bathroom plus a simple kitchenette with fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster plus all the makings for a delicious continental breakfast. Snowgums is situated in a quiet street a little away from the hubbub of central Katoomba with the amazing Blue Mountains National Park just 100m down the road. We can provide loads of information on local walks for those interested in hiking. So what's for breakfast? A wholesome continental breakfast comprising bread with butter and spreads (sweet and savoury), cereals including home-made muesli, preserved and fresh fruit, yoghurt and juice plus tea and coffee (plunger [french press] coffee or instant) available all day. Also, if Sue's cooking other yummies they usually make their way into your kitchenette too. Finally, on sunny mornings we recommend you sit out on the front patio to catch the morning rays while enjoying the bush surroundings and the birds. A great place for breakfast! We even provide hats and sunscreen for those sunny days. While bushwalking is often the centre of activities here in the Blue Mountains, there are plenty of other less strenuous things to do. Sue and Bob can give you many suggestions of great things to do other than walking. If you are a keen walker however, we can recommend many local walks. For the more adventurous who want to do the 6-foot track (a 3-day walk between Katoomba and Jenolan Caves), the track is just down the road. When you stay at Snowgums you can leave your car on the premises reducing the risk of break in etc. We have had several guests who stayed at Snowgums for 3 nights, caught the bus to Jenolan Caves and then walked the 3 days back to Snowgums for another night's stay to relax prior to furthering their trip. They really appreciated being able to leave some gear at Snowgums while away on their walk then returning to a warm welcome of a home away from home at the end of their long walk. At Snowgums free Wi-Fi access is included. There are plenty of books and magazines to read and board games to play and a TV and many DVDs to watch if you so desire (no extra charge). You also have your own heating in the sitting room and your bedroom to keep you cosy warm in winter! Guest AccessPlease note there is no access to the main house kitchen. Your half of the house is just like a self-contained apartment, but with friends (us) nearby! Interaction with GuestsWe love to interact with guests however appreciate that everyone also loves privacy. There are french doors and a drape between your area and ours which gives you the sense of having a whole apartment to yourselves but we're just through the doors if you need us! The NeighborhoodWhere we are is really close to some fabulous hiking trails and while Snowgums is technically set in a suburb, it feels like you're in 'the bush'. Getting AroundSnowgums is a 20 minute walk from both the train station and the centre of town. Unfortunately there is not much public transport nearby so you either need to enjoy walking or bring your own car. Most times we can pick you up or drop you at the train station and drop you at the start of a bush walk but this depends on our movements. If you have a car, we have plenty of parking space.
